    I bought this model 2 years ago and it's the best purchase I've ever made. I totally love it. I played it along side the OM, but the 000 just spoke to me. The size is perfect (I'm not into dreadnaughts). I'll have it forever.

    I’ve dealt with Chris at Alamo music he’s a very nice guy and helped me order a Martin 000-28 through the Martin factory. The Martin factory is not far from where I live and after I made the purchase he arranged for me to pick up my 000-28 directly from the factory. I can’t say enough about Chris he is very knowledgeable about guitars and a great person to deal with. Alamo music in general is really a wonderful place to shop for guitars... so good in fact that I bought less expensive travel guitar as well.

    I am so happy to own this model. Unbelievable how loud and powerful such a small body can sound. Extremly resonant and so inspiring. It even smells fantastic. Thank you guys from Nazareth for your craftmanship !!!

      I'm returning mine because loudness does not equate to tonal quality.

    I live in Pensacola, FL. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris at Alamo Music while visiting San Antonio. He is delightful to converse with, seems sincerely committed to selling with integrity, helping you to discover what you are really looking for in an instrument purchase, and really knows guitars!

    I bought a 000-28 a couple of years ago.
    Can someone tell me why I'm seeing a piece of fabric where 2 of the braces join? Looks like a piece of paper towel. A little unsettling...

    I would like to have seen a bit more digging in and some strumming to see the limits of the guitar. Different styles of playing to truly demo it.

    Great company - Great guitar - great upgrades on new standard series - great review.
    One note: 000-28 (2018) and many other new models DOES not give you the ability for electronics as the video describes.
    The only option for electronics is if the model is designated with an "E" on it's title and listed on specs through Martin's website.

    • @chadkelley
      @chadkelley 5 років тому

      I ordered the non-electronic version to be able to put my own electronics in. I greatly dislike Martin's choice to go the Taylor route and have a huge plastic piece where the end jack would be in order to fit the battery and then to make the 1/4" input separate from the strap button. I do not like this design one bit and I feel it cheapens the guitar which is over $3,000!

      I'll tell you what's up since I'm not selling anything and have played and owned Martins over 50 years now. The MD is very gaudy with the fake gold pegs and abalone and brass frets and the torrefaction and VTS and liquid metal pins and carbon fiber enhanced bridge etc. It is very bright and thin sounding and sounds like a Taylor if guitars could inject methedrine. The finish is hideous as I described it the above comment. It has the color of pre-packed turkey slices. The 000-20EC sounds good out of the box because the massive mahogany neck conducts sound better then the 'high performance taper' neck on the standard. I found the EC extremely difficult to play but some guys like baseball bat necks, so I'm sure Babe Ruth will love this if he is reincarnated as a guitar player. The OM series stuff is a little better, because adding mass to a neck van only help. Basically with the embargo on Brazillian Rosewood, Martin took a steep dive in quality. Indian rosewood doesn't just look crappier, it does not have the same sound conducting properties, which partially explains the ridiculous premiums attached to vintage guitars that all used Rosewood bodies, except for the top of course. I have not played a custom shop 37, but I have played a real 1936 000, and so I cannot scientifically compare, but I don't think I need to. There is no way on this planet that a new guitar, whatever they name it or model it after, can compare with or replicate what 90 years of aging can do to the cellular structure of wood. The only good part about the 000-28 standard is the very playable neck, but you can get the same sound from a $200 guitar, and since of course it'll be made in China, I have noticed that they manufacture shoes and guitar necks a couple sizes smaller then in the USA, assuming you can find anything still made here. And "American made" has not been synonymous with quality in decades. I have owned and sold (unfortunately) six vintage dreadnoughts, all from the early 60's, and I'm tired of those great sounding old boomboxes now and prefer Oms and 00s and 000s etc.....but the old D 28s and HD 28s and D35s nd D41s and D45s, presented here in order of gaudiness, all were made better and sounded better then anything made by Marin in the last 30 years. Build quality is still better then many companies, unless you get the D jr, made from emulsified sawdust (I'm not joking) somewhere in Mexico. That was $500 5 years ago, probably 3 times that now, and the action was so wretched that I realized it might work as a reasonable acoustic slide guitar. In sum, if you want a new Martin, ante up and get the 000-28EC or an OM-42, I think that's the one I tried I liked, and you'll be talking $4400.00 to $8000.00 etc. using our worthless currency. I got a near mint 1963 Gibson J-50 for $5000 recently that put everything martin has made in the last 30 years to shame, and that's the story, morning glory.

    Hello, ¿what difference do you notice between this one and the EC model?. Specs seem to be the same. thank you if you answer!.

    • @Skee_Please
      @Skee_Please 6 років тому +4

      I'm sorry nobody saw this sooner. The 2018 000-28 has a modified low oval neck shape and the neck width at the 12th fret is 2 1/8 inches. The 000-28EC has a modified V shape neck and the neck width at the 12th fret is 2 1/4 inches. I personally prefer the EC model because I like the slightly wider neck and the more pronounced V shape, but both are great guitars. Unless you are in it for the Eric Clapton name, I would say that it comes down to personal preference for which you prefer since they are very similar in most ways except the neck shape/size. The best way to see the difference yourself is to play both if you can find them in a store, because you will immediately feel the difference in the neck. I'm not too sure how different they will sound side by side as I haven't tested or seen someone else test, but I think its definitely more a difference in feel rather than tone since most of the specs are the same or similar. All the specs for both guitars are on the Martin website if you want to compare each specification of each guitar, but I'm pretty sure the main difference is the neck, its profile and taper and possibly the material as the EC is listed as Mahogany and the 2018 model is listed as select hardwood. I believe there are also a few differences in the cosmetic decoration like thickness of the herringbone, and maybe slightly different material for the binding/endpiece, though both are white in color. Hopefully all this helps and answers your question!!

    I got one recently and am swapping it because without a mic and reverb and treble enhancement they sound like they're stuffed with bath towels. Very dead sounding. I have to use 80/20 strings to avoid the muddiness people confuse with "complex harmonics". Also need to use a V-pick and play on top of the bridge. What you hear above is what happens when you add effects on the back end. .I may swap it for the Clapton version that has cleaner sound , but then you get stuck with that frikkin massive neck. When i was a teenager and bought Brazilian Rosewood Martins from the early 1960's Martin was an entirely different animal, to say nothing of the the guitars they made 20 and 30 years before that. But now you need to be a billionaire to acquire what originally cost $50. Basically almost ANYTHING made after 1968 is crap. My favorite guitar was a 1941 Gibson I never should have sold. Oh well. If you buy new, you can't get great quality at any price. You have to buy when you're YOUNG, then if you spend at least $5000, at LEAST, on a new guitar, by the time you're 70 it should sound Ok. Yes, you can get the pre-aged "torrified_ (baked) tops, and I have tried several, including the fabled Martin 000-28 modern "deluxe", and they look like Oscar Mayer prepacked turkey slices, and sound tinny and cheap......frankly Oscar Mayer should collaborate with Martin to make guitars out of turkey slices, it could hardly sound worse then the diamond studded crap they're cooking up these days , with all the marketing hype, and hyperinflated prices. Electrics are way easier to deal with. A broomstick fit with rubber bands, if it can be plugged in, could be just fine, since you have enough digital garbage to make it sound like anything. Luckily I still have 2 weeks left to swap this dog.
