A little anecdote about Shiro Saigo -- in *Mind over Muscle*, Kano tells how Saigo was thrown the most when he started training, and never would throw anyone else. So he devoted himself to his ukemi, and then his defense, dodging, and evasions, until he stopped thinking about how bad it was to be thrown. Then his mind was liberated from the fear of defeat, and he developed his offense and became a great judoka.
Thanks Seva! The best part in my opinion is that this was totally spur of the moment during a regular Saturday morning class. Riki sensei asked us if we had any throw in particular that we wanted more info on. I say yama-arashi, and he just launched into it immediately, and that became this video.
I love this.If sensei knows Hane soto a technique invented by Katsuyoshi Takata i would be in heaven.Takata was in good terms with jon bluming so i assume he knows Dreager.
Thank you Simbabwe. We asked Riki sensei tonight, and he couldn't remember a hane soto. He knew Takata sensei VERY well and was the recipient of many of those famous hane-goshis. Small world! :)
I love the extra stories that go along with the waza. Each seems to have its own story.
Such a momentous story for this one too!

Very good story. Nana korobi, Ya oki.
What great instruction in this video. Never seen it taught before, so I'm glad Riki sensei is the one to do it.
