2024 Amtrak Empire Builder, Staples to Sandpoint, June

Patty, Leta and Mike make the return trip to Sandpoint, Idaho via Amtrak's Empire Builder. After arriving three hours late in Staples, Minnesota, the train continues to lose time as we headed west. By the time we arrived in Sandpoint our train was 10 hours behind schedule, resulting with the loss of one engine as passengers endured two shift changes before proceeding westward. In the words of Grateful Dead, "what a long strange trips it's been".
