Yeah, I replayed it recently, and those early sections have no indication of what you're supposed to do. Especially when you have to walk around Traverse Town's second district.

Chain of Memories can also involve Math sometimes when you need to open doors which require specific colored map cards and certain values.

@@DarkFrozenDepths I got SUCKED hardcore back into KHUX just a couple months before they announced the end of the game (joined a new crew, got MASSIVE lux points and just all around had a grand ol’ time). When they announced that they were shutting down the game I was so bummed that I just. Stopped not even a week later. Dropped off the game completely in sheer disappointment that my two months of catching up and having a blast were basically just me coming back to a dying game that took my time and sarcastically threw confetti in my face in response

KH 1: You started with - *insert any other kh entry* - and cannot go back to the roots of the gameplay.
Here's my take on this:
KH1: Unskippable Cutscenes and a drunk as hell camera wer enough to make you tear your hair out.
KH1FM: Well, they fixed one of them.
COM: You think that KH should only even be a hack and slash.
KH2: You are either a contrarian, or the rabbid KH2 simps got off their leashes again, chasing you away from the series. Y'know, THOSE ones.
BBS: The controls were too slow and floaty for you.
Days: You got sick of the repetitiveness of the mission system.
Re:Coded: You like KH for the story.
3D: You hate the pet simulator, or/and you play KH for the story.
Union X: It's a Gacha game with money grubbing power creep. Bonus points of you were there from the start, and you saw this game slowly devolve into madness.
Dark Road: (I actually have no idea for this one.)
KH3: "KH3 Is Disappointing."
MoM: You fell ripped off becuase of Kairi's lack of... anything, and also they used the midi verisons of the songs and not the HD remix verisons.
Hey, avid disliker of some of these games. Here's why I dislike some of them.
KH1: It often doesn't tell you what to do, leading to lots of time spent wandering around.
KHCOM: The card system adds unnecessary mechanics and complexities that ruin an otherwise good system.
KH3D: Everything you mentioned, plus switching characters, while cool at first, can be annoying since it's forced.
KHUX: Mobile can jump off a bridge I want muh gameplay.
Least favorite I've played is Days, but call me a contrarian, I wasn't a huge fan of KH2. I felt like they went lazy on the level design compared to the first game, plus it was when the series really started to get off the rails, plot-wise.
Actually, my favorite game was CoM (despite even lazier level design) so maybe I am just a contrarian.

The problem I had with KH3 was the lazy writing. We went on an adventure to save everyone, only for us to derp around in a few worlds before saving EVERYBODY in the last quarter (that's being generous) of the narrative. Not to mention they didn't tell Aqua, who went to go wake Ven, that Sora had his heart! Or that they did the Roxas/Sora dynamic dirty by them not talking at all when Roxas finally got his body (I get it they were busy, but still). The maze thing just feels like a cheap plot device, and I hate it.
When the trailer comes, I see people think that they wasting time putting disney world in KH3 ... So I reply, disney world will be important to the game ...
Now the game released ... I feels like an idiot clown ... fuXc ...

Also I'm fairly certain they did tell Aqua offscreen, or do you really think they laughed on Destiny Islands and then just teleported to Castle Oblivion? They obviously did do some catching up.
Finally, the Disney worlds haven't mattered since KH1. CoM they were filler. 2 they were filler. ReCoded they were filler, Days they were filler, DDD they were especially filler. BBS comes close, but still mostly filler. To give some credit, at least most of KH3's Disney worlds weren't just pure rehashes of the films and tried to have some twist on their original stories, and at least they made some attempt to tie Olympus and Pirates into the Lost Masters stuff.
KH2 with literally nothing in the disney worlds:
yeah, kh3 was fun gameplay wise, but it just felt rushed when it came to the saving the bbs trio and roxas. i really feel like we should have had had a little more time with the rescues. i would have liked to see and maybe play riku and mickey searching the land of darkness for aqua more, make her rescue feel hard and earned. and then have us fight through castle oblivion to get to ven's room instead of just showing up with aqua. as for terra, saving him felt so cheap. like, i understood that xemnas and the heartless ansem are from a different time, but why is old xehanort here? lore states that when one kills the heartless and the nobody of a person they reform into their original form. well, xemnas and HL!ansem are the nobody and heartless of terra's body possessed by xehanort. both of them got destroyed in kh1 and kh2, so where is their original form? why is the recently possessed body of terra here and not real terra? how tragic and badass would it be to have to fight the xehanort possessing terra's body as our final boss and defeating him is how we finally save terra instead we save terra in the middle of the final showdown and it feels so cheap and easy. and terra's real body is missing.
just, i loved every bit of kh3's story, except for how the bbs trio got rescued. felt like they needed more effort and angst. like theirs is a full on tragedy that took 11 years to fix. that deserves more than what we got.
Dude I just can't get used to how primitive kh1 is. Everything about all the gameplay just frustrated the heck out of me. Story was good tho.

I have not played KH3 becuse I dont have a PS4 but KH 1 has in my opinion the second best most fun gameplay out of all KH games I played next to KH2. I think I only missed out on 0.2, KH3 and Dark Road.

@@hinata27 Let me tell you in KH 2 you dont get dodgeroll until a little bit before the halfway point. I am actully impressed by the depth of early KH 1 combat despite the limitet options. On Destiny Island you can run, you can attack and you can deflect attacks with youre own oh and you can use Items. That in combination with how the kids react to things like deflecting attacks makes fore some interesting fights. Roxas vs Axel might be more hype and the bigger spectical but I actully think Sora vs Tidus, Selphie and Wakka is mechanical more interesting, more strategic and more fun. Dogeroll and the first bit of magic you get at the end of Traverse Town. When you get guard depends on your choice at the begining of the game. With magic, summons, attack, guard and the abillitys you get you have a decend amount of options and depth to the combat. There is also the RPG aspect of. I feel like Sora Equipmeant that influence his staats are a lot more importent in this game then in other KH games. Fore example magic does not seem like much at first but if you go fore a magic build it becomes really powerful and you can do stuff like this: (relative late game boss spoiler)

Birth by Sleep isn’t my least favorite, but my goodness that was so accurate. Especially when you beat all the stories on PSP just for the Final Mix to come out years later🥴😵💫
I waited until I got it on PS4 and I feel like I dodged a bullet. I didn't have a PS3 or PSP. lol But yeah, I can see why that would be a nightmare and feel glad I didn't have to suffer that. LOL
Heh, my Psp analog was fucked to the max and kept making me go downwards even when I wasn't touching the stick, made the game awfully harder than it really was tbh.
Yall broke boys had issues with a top tier psp game I just beat Terra’s story a week ago and only problem the game has like every fuckin KH game is they throw you in a boss fight that you’re too under leveled for like the Eraquis fight got damn that was fuckin annoying so I didn’t bother fighting xehanort until I was level 47 lol and smacked on him with ease it was literally the easiest fight in the game cause I was the proper level to do so..
KH2: You hate glorified beat-em-ups that are missing the deeper platforming maze-like elements and environmental interactivity that were present in the first game.
KH3 should be "you read one critical review on release day and rolled with it since then".

@@miguelcastillo3723 KH3's magic had literally zero substance. It's aoe damage or cure. Items are just gauge refillers. Actual keyblade combat is... fluid, but lacks impact and isn't really as responsive as it could be. And saying "lol just ignore this part of the game" is perhaps the farthest thing from praise that you could say.
Flashy moments can be fun, but pacing is incredibly important. The more you use these moments, the less impactful they are.

I hate the fact that KH1 was the only exploration rpg and all the others became “follow this road as there is no where else to go”.
Wow this made me realize that I hate Chi/Union Cross with such a passion that I stopped considering it a KH Game for this list. The Story is fine to me, but it showed me how prone I am to addictions and cost me several hundred bucks before I quited.

As someone who actually does enjoy KH1, it is still very easy to see reasons why others may not like it.
My cousin said that KH1 wasn't as good because it doesn't have Drive Forms.
For me it was because Ars Arcanum was pretty hard to pull off. Then again, Ars Arcanum had always been a difficult move to pull off in every game it was in.

Chain of Memories isn’t bad, it’s just that in my opinion the whole card gameplay thing conflicts with the fast-paced nature of the KH series.
If they really did want to slow things down though, it could’ve used a “pause” mechanic similar to Baldur’s Gate, Dragon Age, FF7R, etc. and the ability to assign sleights (or any card combination really) to shortcuts the same way you can do with spells and items in other KH games.
it's meant to be played on GBA, that combat system worked because it was a clever idea on a limited console like that

I thought the card mechanics were fantastic and very misunderstood.
Unfortunately the progression is absolutely fucked and it doesn't get fun until the 40 hour mark...
I've always found Chain of Memories mind numbingly boring personally. People always accuse 358/2 Days of being repetitive (And while that may be true), 80% of what you're doing in Chain of Memories is mindlessly killing Heartless over and over. The other roughly 20% is doing boss fights. And there's barely any exploration. Or at least interesting exploration.
I actually just finished 0.2 today and honestly it was pretty good. It also made me care for Aqua a little bit more.

I hate KH3 because it was a very unsatisfying conclusion, but MoM is a great rhythm game so I love it

See, I only played the Nintendo console games growing up, so my first playthrough of DDD felt *M A G I C A L* compared to its DS predecessors. DDD and BBS really don't focus on Keyblade combos much so if you're used to the main games it feels off, but if you're starting with them, command style is pretty enjoyable as a special move hack-n-slash.
You had me at the X/chi one cause that’s LITERALLY me but I love every other game 😭😭
re:coded had math? all i remember hating was the jump mechanics during timed sections (no i didn’t finish hollow bastion thank you for asking)
Light cycle on KH2 critical mode makes me wish that I never started a new playthrough... I always have a good time until I get to that part and I get walled and just stop playing
I know that this is *really* excessive, but for me I’ve created multiple Level 1 saves for each and every boss fight. It does sort of slow down loading time when you load a save, but they gave you 99 Save Slots for a reason my friend. Use them well.
Screw Gummi Missions.
I’m trying to beat KH2 Sephiroth on Critical and I only have Once More and no Second Chance and it’s really stressing me out lol, Sephiroth is unpredictable and inconsistent and it makes me appreciate KH3 Combat more since you can guard and use items in midair, also having Formchanges and Shotlock as more options. This is coming from someone who beat KH1 and KH3 on their highest difficulties.

@@brandonwilliams6119 I could give you some tips perhaps... (sorry for really long comment though '~').
Stage 1 Sephiroth is really simple. He only has 2 Attacks at the beginning. At Stage 2, the only attack that he does that's dangerous is his fire pillars in which he sometimes cast after a teleportation, or you did damage to him but didn't trigger his revenge value. Stage 3 is where you really need to wake yourself up to. I'm sure you've realized how hectic it was.
At Stage 3, his octa slash now *dashes* himself towards you, so you better block. If he put three orbs around you, do not immediately reflect. Wait for a split second to see what he does next. If he just simply put more orbs on you, then reflect to get rid of them, and then watch what he does next. If he didn't put more orbs on you however, then he's going to do either one of two attacks (if I remember correctly). Either he'll do the octa slashes, or he does that one annoying move where he quickly flies around the arena towards you and then slashes. The answer for both of those is to Reflect. Just Reflect multiple times against his octa slash. For the other attack, Reflect *only once* and spam attack to immediately do a sliding dash towards him (only works if you put on Combo Master).
One last tip I should definitely mention. You probably already know this but try your best that you stay near the edge of the room (near the cliffs preferably) and always have your camera angle towards the middle of the arena. You don't want Sephiroth to sometimes teleport right behind you and be out of your line of sight. If you have questions feel free to ask.

Story-wise it's fine. It's just that you play the same worlds with the same story beats three different times. It gets a little old.

@@aaaa7777Hey Yeah, BbS suffers significantly from not fleshing out their friendship and their bonds with Master Eraqus / not establishing what living in the Land of Departure was ever like. It needed to take more notes from how KH1 did things.
I liked BBS
It's not my favorite in the series, and I can kinda see why people don't care much for the story or whatever. But I think BBS did a fantastic job with the combat. Figuring out what I wanted my command deck to be and then grinding until I got it was.. genuinely very enjoyable to me. I also think the way it handled abilities was absolutely brilliant, because not only was it easy to understand, you could grind out abilities at the same time as commands, which is insanely convenient. And the form changes are great, too.
The game was admittedly a little repetitive, having to play through basically the same game three different times, but I will always admire how BBS managed to make grinding of all things genuinely fun.
Also, the music is phenomenal, but ig that goes for literally every KH game lol

I actually played all of the KH games I own enough times to say that while some are objectively worse than others in certain ways, I can't hate any of them anymore (gameplay wise, that is) or call them my least favourite 🤣

DDD is my least favorite, and its honestly because of the drop mechanic in general. You're trying to do something as either sora or riku, like explore and look for chests or something, and out of nowhere, the game throws you into the other character

Dream Drop really feels clunky for the do no damage part because of how much focus they put onto Flowmotion doing the most. It always feels counterintuitive to go out of your way to bounce around off of walls or streelamps when keyblade slashing should be good enough.
It was pretty busted, imo. If you did the flowmotion wall jumps just right, you could climb to the top of the Notre Dame cathedral, completely skipping the interior.

I could.
Anyway, even though flowmotion was completely busted, I thought it was extremely fun to play around with, and is to this day one of my favorite mechanics they have ever added to the series.

Okay, the thing about KH3 is that the story was poor. It basically abandoned any plausible theory threads from previous games, and broke all of the established rules of the canon for fanservice. It plays out like a fanfic from 2010.
Fanservice in the worst way possible I literally still can’t believe how bad it is storywise and how others can’t see why some people wouldn’t like it
My least favorite has to be DDD. I really didn't like the way you gain abilities and commands, so I pretty much stuck to some semi-decent commands and abilities, and sometimes combat for me felt sort of more stale than the other games.
I didn't mind the pet simulator too much. my issue with it is that it took too long to get points witout just grinding away on the toys. Also, you only get an ability when you have that dream eater in your party, which is dumb.
My big issue was how the character system worked. I was fine with how BBS did it, it was a portable game so I wasn't marathoning it after all (On consoles it's a bit worse because of that). DDD suddenly forcing me to swap when in the middle of things was a huge killjoy, and the worlds also weren't as compact as in BBS. It was so exhausting to actually play on the 3DS.
I feel more like KH3 is for all the people who waited over a decade for the game and were the biggest believers, only to then be the most disappointed
I know everyone loves Kairi but i must say, in kh3 she had such a flat character. What went from " GET UP SORA U LAZY BUM!" to just standing there and watching everything then making Sora almost die and not even thanking him. She could do so much better.
Melody of Memory is still a good game ngl.
I’m surprised BBS didn’t have floaty combat as a mention since that’s where it started. The game overall is my least favorite. However Chain of Memories is my all time favorite with Dream Drop Distance as a close second.

You’re buggin BBS introduced the command deck which is the most broken form of combat out of any game in the franchise you’re weird..
I hated 3d because flowmotion is a dumb mechanic that forces the player to use it because it's objectively the best combat option outside of balloon. Also having to play with the pets was nothing but a grind and felt way to slow with no way of speeding it up

I like bbs, but when I played it when I was a kid I completely ignored the melding system because I didn’t quite get it and I didn’t want to do trial and error so I just straight up never got any abilities. Doing the game without leaf bracer, once more, or second chance was the worst experience of my life but by god I did it.
KH3: You enjoyed doing nothing for 18 hours while everyone else does all the work only to find out you did literally nothing for 18 hours except go through worlds where you accomplished nothing for the plot then get 2 hours of plot.
So exactly like KH2 then.
KH3 being ‘FUN’ doesn’t mean it can’t be disliked. For me it was more flashy than fun. Yes I had fun but it felt cheap. All the flash but nothing to use it on until DLC. By that time I’m over it, and the dlc was horribly implemented into the story by the way. I can see why you put it on par with KH2, because there are mechanics that are great in KH3. All those mechanics were wasted though, there was no real threat… unless you paid for DLC.
Can confirm as someone whose favorite game is 2 and least favorite is 3, I have a very love/hate relationship with fun

Honestly my favorite is Days. Why? I have no friends and got to level 100 doing nothing but the multiplayer mission using the broken 2 hit combo with kingdom key+ and crit boosts.

I never played Re:Coded or 0.2 but I would say that my least favorite is BBS for the same reason mentioned in this video but also something I didn't like that was largely present in Days and 3D, and that's the abundance of bosses and enemies that cannot or are very difficult to stagger when attacking them. Due to this, you only have a tiny window to throw in 2 hits that deal no damage before you have to dodge roll away to avoid a TOD or a series of OHKO attacks for an unnecessary amount of time. In the case of BBS, after doing it once with Terra, I didn't feel like I wanted to do it with Ven or Aqua. Days at least is segmented into missions which triggers my "I like checklists in games" feeling. I'd find myself replaying difficult missions to see how fast I could do them (or with different characters). 3D's better movement, wider areas, and team building stuff with raising the Dream Eaters largely overshadows the more bullshit bosses that fall into the BBS category of bosses.
KH1: You've played way too much KH2/KH3 and the jankiness of KH1 fries your muscle memory.

He's playing Re:CoM rn and loving Riku's Story (which is what he's playing first), but I fucked up by making him play KH1 first.
I don't hate it, but it's definitely overhyped, gameplay is great story is horribly paced

I came back to KHUX about six months before it’s shut down after having gone a year+ long hiatus and was very confused to see the Dark Road add on. I honestly only played for about half a hour before losing interest because I didn’t enjoy the gameplay anywhere near as much as KHUX

Agreed, attraction flow was a mess. They just put too much into KH3 battle system.
You can delete them with Pro Codes or Critical Converter on critical mode.
