As a 13 year old I can say this is very true. I train seriously and am really happy with my great results to be just 13 but the improvements and my addiction of chasing an aesthetic physique are having a big influence on my friends, sometimes finding videos such as do this for six packs in 1 month and I try to explain to them that they need a good diet for abs if they wanted them and they can’t do a diet now because they’re growing and it would be stunting your growth if you didn’t eat enough but they don’t listen to me and sometimes skip lunch or do these abs exercises and I just feel bad for them. It’s a mistake that a lot of kids my age make because they want girls to chase them and be happy with their body’s without doing the actual research you need to make progress or wanting to put in any actual time and hard work. I was looking for a gym buddy but I just ended up making my friends feel bad about their body. I swear, every time I see you've uploaded another video I get so excited to watch your content. Such eloquence, crisp editing skills, and artful presentation of information. Keep up the great work!!!
Man, your videos are just mesmerising. The quality of edits, quality of information and it's delivery, narration, positive notes and advice. Simply put... beautiful.
I think it's worth mentioning people need to be careful with basically any fitness (or frankly anything) information they get. Be it TikTok, YT, Instagram, Pro bodybuilders, guys at the gym even personal trainers (I paid a PT to show me some stuff once and a lot of the information he gave me was like twisted so it seemed different to make it seems like he was giving me some super special fitness secrets you wouldn't find anywhere else). Everywhere has quality information but with the vast amount of information out there more so than ever people need to learn to question everything. Never take anything anyone says as fact as almost everything is just peoples opinion and anyone can be wrong, learn from multiple sources and make your own conclusions and don't forget if anyone can be wrong you can to so if you see something that conflicts with what you believe be open enough changing your mind. One rule I've learnt is no matter the experience if someone can't explain or give any reason to something they've told you and instead end up getting defensive when you ask... They probably don't know what they're talking about.
What a great comment, I wholly agree!!! Sorry you had that experience with a trainer, but sadly that’s incredibly common. Just because someone got a training certification and works as a trainer at a gym doesn’t necessarily mean they are good at what they do, it doesn’t guarantee they operate with honesty & good business ethics, nor does it even necessarily make them knowledgeable or experienced. I’ve seen more unqualified and bad trainers than good ones over the years, and I partially blame the business model of most gyms for that, as one of their biggest sources of revenue is often their trainers, who they push to get as many training sessions in as possible each day. Gyms also want their trainers working with their clients as long as possible, which is why so many trainers don’t often actually just bark orders at them instead with little rhyme or reason behind the programming. Trainers at gyms are also usually paid a small fraction of what their clients pay the gym for their services, & many will resort to whatever tactics they can to attract new clients or to highlight how they know some “secret” training methods, etc…..which is often absolute nonsense theatrics like what you see on Instagram and TikTok that looks cool, but is less safe or effective than the tried and true exercises that look less “sexy”. In the end, a good trainer is someone who not only has the knowledge needed to construct a proper program for any of their clients, possesses empathy & the ability to really listen to their clients, and also is a good teacher in order to effectively communicate everything and actually teach their clients what they need to know for ongoing sustained success. The people who do that are sadly far and few between from what I’ve seen after 20 years in the business, which makes it difficult for the public to know who is a credible source or not, and it tarnished the industry as a whole.
Many of my past friendships, relationships and jobs ended soon after I said: "If you can't answer my questions, that proves you are lying." Also were not happy that I had detailed answers ready for all their questions.
@@kedabro1957 Yeah, I think it's because they feel attacked. Like your taking something someone believes they believe and rather than telling them they are wrong telling them they never believed it in the first place.

Excellent Video Josh! Love how you pointed out all the issues with TikTok Fitness. Unfortunately the algo shows people all the fancy BS which they don't NEED to see - instead of the legit stuff that people NEED to FOCUS on. And that's why I see teens wasting time in the gym.....messing around instead of doing the good stuff that works. We've all been there - however today the brain is being bombarded with all the Fitness BS! Stick to the basics dudes and dudettes! And again....awesome video Josh!
Social media has a large eating disorder problem. They are found under they keywords "ana" or "pro ana" being an abbreviation for anorexia. If you ever find yourself spending time on such accounts, blogs or websites, stop and seek help from a therapist immediately! Love the kind of educational work you are doing on a topic that is talked about way too little, much respect!
Pro ana UA-cam and Twitter have f-ed me up so bad. It’s been around 2 years since I was a regular user and I’m doing better now but nothing is going to erase those urges to starve and the memorized calorie counts and the horrible body image. I’m 99.9999% sure that if I didn’t starve myself I would’ve gained less weight in the long run because of the binging that has plagued me since.
And to add to that... You cannot work toward a strong, healthy body while starving yourself! Instead try researching the kinds of foods that will benefit your body. Carbs, for example, are great for aerobic exercises, whereas the infamous protein is great for resistance workouts, get enough healthy fats in there too, fats (besides saturated fat) are good for your body, getting the right amount of the right things is key! Anorexia is hell to battle, but it all starts with the realization that it is not sustainable

You're doing great work, please keep it up. So much garbage out there, I fear for young people these days, their heads are being filled with misinformation about every faucet of life. People like you are helping to cut through the nonsense
I'm not even into fitness and I find these videos very enjoyable to watch. The work you put into each one is incredible. You should expand and do more than just fitness doco's. Your tone of voice would go great with mystery videos.
7:03 Absolutely. If you want to *see* your abs for the aesthetics, a caloric deficit is the way to go, assuming you’re already somewhat regularly active and have an average amount of body fat. For most people, *getting* abs really means *reducing* stomach fat (making the abs more visible beneath the skin). This requires a caloric deficit (taking in less calories than you use in a given day) which induces general body fat loss.
There is no such thing as a "caloric deficit." If you decrease your intake, your metabolism will compensate. Look into the hormonal (insulin) model of weight loss. In short, cut carbs and start fasting. CICO is technically correct but doesn't work the way you think it does.
@@Charles.Wright The only way your metabolism can compensate is through reducing NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis), which does happen to some people but ultimately it just means you need to lower your caloric intake a bit more
The amount of misconceptions in fitness mixed with short video formats, is an extremely dangerous cocktail for beginners who'll certainly never achieve their goals, sadly
I think this is why sports are so important so many people myself included fell in love with lifting/fitness through highschool sports. From that you look for reliable coaching and know shortcuts don’t exist

As someone who is trying to become a tik tok influencer such as Hybrid Calisthenics or Noel, I will always be truthful and honest with my small audience. I only use TikTok to help and inspire and I am so glad you have brought some of the frauds out there into the light. I only share my experiences and I never lie to the young people trying to start fitness. Josh you're videos are amazing and I will always aspire to be as open and honest as you, fact-checking all my advice and advice given. I'd like to thank you for the content you're producing. I know how long it takes and how much effort you're putting in to this. Great video as always. Thanks brother.
I agree that people who are using tik tok don’t get to far in the bodybuilding industry because many people don’t research and find the importance to train their muscles equally and correctly. I used to be a skinny 6th grader who always got bullied and I was in a deep state of depression because I felt like I never had the strength to stand up for myself. I’ve put a serious time into researching across websites and platforms so I know what’s good and what’s bad. Now I’m an 8th grader and I’ve went from 89 pounds and put on 38 pounds and I’ve gained a lot of muscle and I finally was proud of myself and I could stand up for myself. I inspired my friends to start working out and other classmates not for the soul purpose to look intimidating but self care and confidence. I feel like many people are trying to find these little things to find a loophole to getting fit and healthier, but they don’t understand the courage and the time it takes to start working out. The results take time and they’re definitely worth it because anyone can be anything they want to be and it’s not too late.
I recently found your channel and I gotta say all your videos are very high quality. I also love the messages your videos show anyway man keep up the great work!
11:17 So Tik Tok doesn't want "ugly" or poor people creating content on there app :/ thank god this didn't exist when I was younger - it seems like it could be detrimental for young peoples self-esteem
This video is such high quality it’s insane. Both the information and the presentation are top notch. This video needs 10+ million likes not those TikTok videos.
Just binge watched every video on this channel. Absolutely amazing work bro. Well researched, amazingly edited, very informative and interesting. Keep tackling the important topics man.
Apart from fitness videos, I honestly believe the short, quick delivery meme/ clip culture of social media is exclusively designed for behavioral conditioning - particularly to create shortened attention spans, lack of critical thinking and some sort of addictive need for useless information that serves as a subliminal gratification paradigm that will ultimate ruin an entire generation's ability to follow through or create.
Josh I have to say you are the best informative youtuber out there and given your age, you speak with the wisdom and intelligence of a university professor in his mid 40's. You are ridiculously intelligent and hard working. Keep up the brilliant work 👏
This is my favourite video that I've seen this week. I wish I could just show all my friends this because they are addicted to this stupid app. I never got hooked, I'm so thankful for that for me as I would've just wasted hours everyday on this. UA-cam and books, always my go to.
Great video!! It’s concerning that our young people are becoming the victims to this as well as many of our older folk. If we cannot make the world a better place I am concerned as to what our next generation will leave after things like this.
The problem is, this is just scratching the surface. There is an even bigger problem, and that is what TikTok does to people's brains. Using this app, specially as a kid, will completely ruin your ability to focus for long periods of time, which you will need a lot of if you want to attend university or be successful in life. Don't let your kids use social media until they are 18, and explain to them why. Give them a watch so they can call you and their friends and that's it.
This is one of the best fitness channels on UA-cam despite only having eight videos. Netflix or some big company should hire this guy to make documentaries.

Many of my past friendships, relationships and jobs ended soon after I said: "If you can't answer my questions, that proves you are lying."
Also were not happy that I had detailed answers ready for all their questions.
@@kedabro1957 Yeah, I think it's because they feel attacked. Like your taking something someone believes they believe and rather than telling them they are wrong telling them they never believed it in the first place.
Check the PT's qualification's
definitely agree. what i like to do regarding influencers is watch a lot of different stuff. that way i can better see what the consensus is and where the disagreements are.
of course that's not guaranteed to be successful, but it helps a lot.
Crossfit finally found a worthy contender: TikTok fitness.
Quality comedy=watching CrossFit
You came outta nowhere man. It's like you've been making videos for years with this level of quality. Keep this shit up bruv
im glad we have a guy as noel, he actually has experience and also gets watchtime so people still see his stuff
Noel, Brock and Cayle are all very helpful
I downloaded tiktok once, wasted an hour on it, and then deleted it. It frightened me how easy it was to waste time and knew I didn't need any more of that in my life
Smart
I never bothered with tiktok. The countless idiotic content on yt about tt told me all I needed to know. China, the gift that keeps on giving
This guys channel is the definition of quality > quantity keep it up and hello from Australia!
Josh you have a bright future in filmmaking, every video is just so high quality both in content and execution. Thanks for the work man!!!
I’m obsessed with your channel to say the least. I’m a 30 year old millenial who grew up without social media, and I miss it. This is the sixth video of yours I’ve watched in a row. Keep up the good work and please continue spreading your wisdom 🤍
Fantastic video. Makes sense that someone who is deeply ashamed of their body does not want to hear that it will take YEARS to correct.
"Fitness is not a seasonal hobby, it's a lifestyle."
thank you so much for making these videos exposing corruption in the fitness industry, as a beginner it has helped me avoid making a lot of potentially destructive mistakes and not compare myself to other people, but now i'm super paranoid because i don't know who i can and cant trust lol.
You perfectly explained to everyone here how toxic TikTok is, thank you for this!
I'm so happy that people like you are making content addressing these issues and possibly opening the eyes of many people! I can't stand all these "influencers" that only look for clout and are brainwashing so many young kids and possibly ruining their lives. Even if you don't realise it, you are making a difference and you 're helping alot of people, so please never stop doing this! Let's hope to see full documentaries from you on platforms like Netflix etc.
When Mr. Josh Brett puts up a video, you know it is full of quality and critical thinking 🤘 keep putting up the great info and putting forth the effort! I wish that false information could be better controlled and I'm glad that someone like you is speaking on this subject-matter.
1:08 Also, I love that you used a "Back to the Future" font 😃
The LEMMiNO of the fitness industry. Another very well done video!
I'm glad you gave Noel a positive outlook. This is why I love your channel it's always good and true. When I deleted Tik Tok my life got better and easier. 💗
The social dilemma documentary is such a huge eye opener to these social media apps, and I loved every minute of it.
My favorite UA-cam channel ever. Bro you kill these videos on a different level. Mad respect for you keep up the grind. I love how you spread out your videos it makes me so excited when you post.
Bro, I don't know how you do it but the fact that these videos are free while being so high quality with all the animations and research, it goes to show people are still making good content! Thank you very much!
I’ve genuinely been so impressed with your videos. Such good content, and so much information that people need to hear. Great stuff man!
This channel is phenomenal. Cheers to you my dude, for your do diligence. Appreciate your research and revealing truth.
The masters still train the basics.
Fitness channels nowadays all churn out the same content, but you channel always has refreshing videos! Great job
@@hollycarpenter9828 To this day I still want to fast and eat very small meals but I make myself eat normally since I got in the "very underweight" section and my mother started to notice my ribs and that I was not eating certain food, I now have to go to the therapist and have to avoid things that trigger my ED, even months after it I still feel like I could just go back again anytime.
im 15 i started training at home 6 months ago, now this is my first week of actually training at gym with a personal trainer, your vids are helping so much, i hope that i dont ever stop doing this so that when im 30 years old i can have a freat physique
Agreed. I do ab exercises and while I know I have a strong core you need to have good caloric deficit in order to have actual visible abs

This kind of high-quality UA-cam content is very much appreciated! Keep up the good work Josh!
ჰეი👋🏻
You’re a rising star of the ‘high quality’ UA-cam fitness community mate, keep it up!
This man is an amazing content creator
This was the top recommended video following a Max Euceda video. Couldn't be more appropriate.
Another amazing video! I got rid of the app recently mostly due to productivity. I’m a lot more productive without it now.
I think this is why sports are so important so many people myself included fell in love with lifting/fitness through highschool sports. From that you look for reliable coaching and know shortcuts don’t exist
This channel is literally the embodiment of “quality of quantity”, 150k subs after less than 10 vids🤯
Just found your channel and absolutely love it. Love that you expose nonsense and bullshit like this. I can't even wrap my head around why people would even follow any of this advice.
Great content Josh, At this point Netflix should sign you.
my hearts a stereo
These videos make me feel better about the world, need more people putting content out like this rather than the types highlighted here. Great stuff
Can’t stress your message enough. You’re doing great work my man, keep it up!
Josh keep doing your thing brother your opening more eyes to the public
The fitness industry hero back at it again 🔥
Holy sh!t Josh. Your videos are so well made it blows my mind. This is a very important video, maybe the most important you have made so far and it need to be shared and viewed by as many as possible.
Back in my day, 'tick tock' was the sound of a clock ticking, signifying the ever constant flow of time.
No, I'm not old, you are.
Back in 2010, the only Tiktok I know is from Ke$ha
Back in my day,
Don't stop
Make it pop
DJ blow my speakers up
The fact that I get VShred ads before your videos every time I watch them...really sums up my opinion of algorithms.
Thanks for keeping us entertained and educated with top quality
Love this. This is why I was hesitant to start content on their but there are genuine people on TikTok like myself making a difference in peoples lifestyle 🙏🏾
I used to do ab exercises specifically at the end, but i just stopped because every exercise uses a good amount of core work anyways. Especially using kettlebells, clubs, and maces.
Incredible video, this documentary has more production value than some TV specials.
You deserve a much bigger platform for the amount of effort and knowledge you put in these videos. Cheers to you my man!
Great video!
Have never found any useful fitness advice let alone ANYTHING useful on tiktok.
Your videos are always worth the wait. Keep up the good work👍
13:09 "only follow accounts which are actually useful"
shows daddy Noel twerking
This is one of the best channels I've ever seen keep the good work
The quality and information in your videos are just getting better by the day. Kudos, mate🙌
This video and all of the others on your channel are incredible. You are a type of creative person and you can clearly see that you put heart into making these videos. You just don't say "Fitness infustry is bad learn from me" but you go much much further. Keep making these videos, I will watch every one of them (if you won't become a part of this terrible industry, but I am sure you are not this type of human trash). You are great.
Josh has done it again! An entertaining, educational, well-edited video. Thanks for posting these.🙂
As someone who is trying to become a tik tok influencer such as Hybrid Calisthenics or Noel, I will always be truthful and honest with my small audience. Sometimes I think TikTok has gotten a bit out of order with what it gets away with. Amazing video as always bro.
I'm astounded at the quality of your videos, you've definitely got a talent for producing high quality + engaging content. It's just a matter of time before you blow up!
I'd like to thank you for the content you're producing.
I know how long it takes and how much effort you're putting in to this.
Great video as always.
Thanks brother.
This video quickly turned from informational fitness critique to a deep dive into TikTok lore and conspiracies.
man, this video is important, holy hell.....should be used in schools imo
11:17 So Tik Tok doesn't want "ugly" or poor people creating content on there app :/
thank god this didn't exist when I was younger - it seems like it could be detrimental for young peoples self-esteem
This video is such high quality it’s insane. Both the information and the presentation are top notch. This video needs 10+ million likes not those TikTok videos.
I liked it before watching, because I know it's gonna be good.
Unlike TikTok Fitness videos which almost exclusively are trash.
I just stumbled upon this channel because of vshred. Man, this channel is gold. Subscribed!
Great video! I really appreciate you spending so much of your time to produce such top notch content! Keep up the great work! :)
Just binge watched every video on this channel. Absolutely amazing work bro. Well researched, amazingly edited, very informative and interesting. Keep tackling the important topics man.
"The Ugly Content Policy"!!!!! That is outrageous... awesome, but outrageous! 😲😂😁
Cant wait to see Greg and Derek's videos on this🙏. Great video!
Keep up the brilliant work 👏
Well done, Josh. Always a pleasure seeing how thoughtful you’re content is. Thanks for spreading a healthy message 👌
This is my favourite video that I've seen this week. I wish I could just show all my friends this because they are addicted to this stupid app. I never got hooked, I'm so thankful for that for me as I would've just wasted hours everyday on this. UA-cam and books, always my go to.
Here we go again with another high quality Josh's video. What a good way to start my day! c': You are awesome!
I'm so glad u are making this type of content. Social media is destroying our youths mental health and what you show here proves it
I just finished watching all your videos! I already know I will like this one too. Great job!!
So.. TikTok is pretty much Skynet? We’re screwed lol great video bro! I wholeheartedly enjoy watching them. Can’t wait for the next one!
Can we take a minute to acknowledge the edit in this video?! Holy shit that's a lot of graphics! :D Good job, man!
Josh my guy! You say it as it is, as allways! You are what people need to hear! Give this man followers and share, because he is the shining light
Waiting for Coach Greg’s video on this.
Great video!! It’s concerning that our young people are becoming the victims to this as well as many of our older folk. If we cannot make the world a better place I am concerned as to what our next generation will leave after things like this.
These videos are so stinkin high quality
this is one of the best vids in youtube, this is rly important, thanks
The problem is, this is just scratching the surface. There is an even bigger problem, and that is what TikTok does to people's brains. Using this app, specially as a kid, will completely ruin your ability to focus for long periods of time, which you will need a lot of if you want to attend university or be successful in life. Don't let your kids use social media until they are 18, and explain to them why. Give them a watch so they can call you and their friends and that's it.
Tik Tok is like staring into a fridge or your pantry when you're already uncomfortably full.
Your channel deserves to be in the school college course.
