In this episode of #TheDailyDoug, I'm reacting to Alexander the Great by Iron Maiden. This is their studio recording from the album Somewhere in Time.
Reference Video: • Alexander the Great (3...
It's historically accurate enough that I passed a couple of history tests because I had the song memorized back in 1987 😂
yes i went to high school with someone who didn't study for the Alexander the Great-era exam and got a C- on it because of what he memorized from this song
A few years ago it helped me with a pub quiz question "How old was Alexander the Great when his father died?" :)
@@0zwer0 at the age of nineteen, he became the Macedon king...
I've answered a few Jeopardy questions correctly over the years as a result of listening to this song hundreds of times in my teens.
Dude! I had to do a speech on him and just used the lyrics lol had a hard time trying not to sing it
9:17 " *I don't want to play over this solo- this is too good* "
....And *that* ladies and gentlemen ,is the sign of a true musician...
What a beautiful solo by Adrian Smith, like a human voice, unlike many of the contemporaries, he doesn't overplays.. Very tasteful
In his defense, it's a long solo. lol It's great, but it is long for a reaction video.
Right!!♥️
Adrian absolutely blows my mind in this song. He was on fire for the whole album. Wasted Years and Stranger in a strange land especially has an amazing solo.
10:05 proceeds to play over the solo
Who else wants to see a video of the members of Iron Maiden reacting to Doug's reaction?
I would love to hear their reactions to this.
YEAH! Most of them would TOTALLY agree to do it?
I subscribe to a lot of reaction channels on the Tube, and I've often asked myself this same question. :-)
yes, of course!
🤘🇲🇽❤🍻👊
You should play a concert called "Piano Maiden", with Iron Maiden songs.
Ivory Maiden 🙂
I'm all in.
@@perzyboy Nailed iT!
There already is a "Piano Tribute To Iron Maiden" album. It came out in 2005, it's really well done too...

If anyone is interested, because of this song a lot of years back all Iron Maiden members were awarded the ''golden key'' of the city of Thessaloniki (capital of Macedonia, near to the town of Pella, birthplace of Alexander) and also were given the title of ''honorary citizens'' of the municipality by the then mayor of the city!
I didn't know! Thank you for sharing this info :)
Amazing.
Imagine if they actually chose to play it live there. If they played it live ANYWHERE in Greece, people would go absolutely wild.
@@arungurung6340 You've got the point mate, in fact during their last concert in Athens in front of 45.000 fans from all over Greece, the audience was chanting ''Aleeexander the greeeat'', urging them to play it, so Dickinson sang the chorus...acapella along the crowd. You know of course that they have never played the song live anywhere.
Beautiful!
"THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER"
Yesss, such a freaking great song!
@@ALMAMAIDEN The LOOOOONG-DISTANCE RUNNNAAAH!
@@ALMAMAIDEN Ofc I read with Bruce voice :D
The crowd would totally sing the guitar parts
Agreed
"I dont wanna play over this solo. This is too good" He is a real Iron Maiden fan:-)
Got to agree, I think that must be my favourite Maiden guitar solo!
Anyone remember who was soloing when he said that, Murray or Smith?
@@dr.juerdotitsgo5119 Smith of course :)
I watched lots of Maiden reactions lately and most of the time Adrian's solos stunned the reactors. No wonder because his Solos are musically more interresting and more melodic. Dave's smooth legato shredding is great but Adrian has just more feeling.
Adrian Smith is the single greatest guitar player of all time, I think. Hats of to Dave too, on this song though. He NAILED his part. Both solos are amazing. But to me, Adrian is the real deal...❤️
Doug - It's so great to see someone with your experience and ear figure out these parts in real time. I do my best, but you really really have it. Stay on it brother!
That's because his relative pitch is insane (or he has perfect pitch). It is impressive!
I have the ear too, if only i could get myself to pratice more i could utilize it like doug doese. He must have perfect pitch or is close.
- Seventh son of a seventh son (another master piece from the 80's. Iron Maiden at the peak of their powers)
- Dance of death (it's a storytelling song just like the same vibe of Empire of the clouds. Super underrated song)
- Wasting love (why not a ballad by Iron Maiden?)
I agree 👍
All great choices!
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son..... the first Album review
Dance of death would be really interesting.
Paschendale is such an underrated track, a great song-telling of such a horrific battle those young lads endured, so sad and upsetting, but as usual Maiden put it on a pedestal where it belongs, Lest We Forget!
I have now realized that I wanna see a piano cover of Alexander the Great.
Same. Up the MOTHERFUCKING IRONS
There's even lullaby versions of Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rush, Pantera, and Metallica songs. I kid you not.
My man, a piano and a saxophone make any song that much better. :D
David bowie will like this comment...
@@Bellathor don't forget violin😉
Adrian is a criminally underrated guitarist. He played all of the solos that you enjoyed so much.
Not all solos are played by Adrian ........ The best ones are though :)
I've always preferred Dave myself. But love Adrian and his style.
??? I think Dave Murray is THE best ; so = OPINIONS are different.
A full piano version of "Alexander The Great", please? You tried to play along with a song in a few places and it sounded absolutely fantastic! Thanks!

Seventh son of a seventh son should be next Maiden song. It's the most epic Maiden song. The middle section with the haunting organs and crazy time signature is beyond this world.
I completely agree with you, he should do it!
@@kalil207 my favorite Maiden song, hope he does it
@@danielelyard2566 Mine too
Yes definitely Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. Dance Of Death, Clansman and When The Wild Wind Blows. And Phantom Of The Opera.
And that fuckin dazzling solo from Adrian! ❤
You have the best 'reaction' videos I've seen. I like how you actually say if you like or dislike something, instead of half of these reactions channels that put on fake expressions and say they like absolutely everything to please the audience that recommended the song. Kudos
@@Dimensionsbrecher Also, the man knows his craft. Incredible musician. Great reaction/review.
That whole album is amazing. One of my all time favorites, never gets old. Especially Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner.
Best song
They could easily have gone down the thrash route so glad they didint those melodies on tis album are gorgeous. Allways loved thin lizzy for the melodies and harmonies. Would loved to have do alexander
@@paulgoodwin3642 --- Yeah, Thin Lizzy is the shit.
Yep love live and dangerous along side life after death and ufo's strangers in the night my three favourite live albums. If you havnt heard ufo try the aong lights out in london you can definitely hear maiden in that song kind of maiden crossed with scorpions.
@@paulgoodwin3642 --- Pretty sure you're talking to me... Familiar with UFO. Grew up with rock n metal, I'm more of the Overkill, Testament, Exodus school lately. Fun stuff. 👍
In my opinion, one of their top 10 songs and one of the most underrated. Whenever I sit back and close my eyes and listen to this song, the intro feels kind of young and perhaps innocent- it takes me to Macedonia, watching a young ATG tame horses with Phillip. Then the military beat kicks in and you start feeling like he is getting older, his training is nearing completion and he's readying the phalanxes for battle and conquest. You can feel the despair in India as his men mutiny. I wish they could have came up with some lyrics around his golden burial. Truly an epic jam
I absolutely love the solo and the fact it hangs back
Iron Maiden just have so many great choices:
- Phantom of the Opera
- Paschendale
- When the Wild Wind Blows
- Dance of the Dead
- Number of the Beast
- The Clansman
- Ghost of the Navigator
- etc.
Clansman from Rock in Rio would be great
Actually a critical view of the ways both Bruce and Blaze handled it would be interesting. Not a who's better but rather, what is that third guitar doing? What syllables are they emphasizing, what other changes can be seen to accomodate each singers range and character?
Wouldnt be fair to ask that much, just saying that seems interesting because it points out some of the realities of writing something and having different musicians perform it under different situations (venues or even available instrumentation)
@@edelcorrallira that is a fine idea. Unlike most Maiden fans I really like the vocals of Blaze Bayley. My favourite song from his time is The Educated Fool... but I like most of the Virtual XI album. And let us not forget The Sign Of The Cross!
Phantom is their most underrated song
ima vote Passchendaele
This song is a magnificent ending to an epic album.
SiT was the apex of their career. 7nth Son lowered the standards just a bit. Then it was a downward slope.
It's my all time favorite
A song about the past ending an album about the future. Interesting.
And sadly Wasted Years is the only song off this album they play live!!!
@@geogeo2299 I'd say it's the opposite, 7th son took the improvements SiT had Made over previous albums and took them to another level, with all the synths and the epic vibe of the whole album. 7th son is the ultimate Maiden album
This solo was made for the solos. Adrian Smith (solo 1) and Dave Murray (solo 2) are so different yet complement each other so well. Both are melodic and take the listener on a journey. It's hard to determine which is best and it always seems to be the one you're listening to at that moment in time. Ultimately, I side with Murray and his fiery finish that starts at 10:00
In my opinion, many older Iron Maiden albums have quite interesting compositions. They were somewhat self-taught, so they did not even know they were "breaking the rules", they just did what sounded good. Natural musicians.
Considering their background, yes they knew the rules, yes they did it on purpose !
@@thedstrings It certainly seems unlikely they would do this without theoretical knowledge.
Discovering Iron Maiden is such an interesting experience. I was always a huge Metallica fan (even though they were before my time) and some other trash music, but I never ventured into listening to Maiden . A couple years ago I was at the gym and just decided for no specific reason to listen to Maiden. I went down the typical top 10 songs in Spotify and one after another I was in complete disbelief of how great they were. I assumed these were cherry picked songs and that the albums would otherwise be mediocre. I decided to start from the very beginning (which for many more classic rock bands is not always the best place to start). I came to find out on my journey that basically every single song from their first album through seventh son is simply incredible. It's only more impressive when you come upon their body of work starting from Brave New World. I've since seen them live as well and hope to see them again. They are just spectacular in every way. Greatest heavy metal band of all time in my humble opinion.
You don't get "smarter" that Maiden in hard music!
Welcome to the enlightenment of the great Iron Maiden, you are so very welcome into the circle of one of the greatest fan bases that any band has ever had. 🤘
You're damn right. All they're songs are great and have something to be liked.
the mainstream hates them too, that means they are really great!
Yooo Tygers of Pan-Tang!!!
Maiden's "Seventh son of a Seventh son" is a true masterpiece. Please check the studio version and react to this! Greetings

I love Seventh Son but Ancient Mariner is my all-time favorite Maiden song.

Holy crap dude, you blow me away with how you're able to just play along. I just started playing piano during Covid and I aspire to be as talented as you are so i can have a blast playing along with my favourite Maiden tunes!!! You are an inspiration!

Doug, it’s so cool that you can play along with these songs without having heard them before. Flippin’ amazing bud!

They are fairly predictable, especially Maiden.
@@suspicionofdeceit and yet still amazing
@@jedrusnowak3317 True. There's a good reason why they're used so much, like anything considered "classic" : it just works.

Suggestion: Bruce's solo career Darkside of Aquarius, The Tower, Jerusalem, Tyranny of Souls. Hugs from Brazil!
The Alchemist!!!
"Chemical Wedding" 😉
Great solo albums!
It really is amazing to see the difference between someone who understands how music is composed, versus me who simply appreciates music, digest these songs. I have been listening to Maiden for 40 years and am always blown away by them, but this gives me a new appreciation of their talent. To see non metalheads see the quality and beauty of their music and the effort that went into it is really gratifying for me.
Iron Maiden: "Sea of Madness" from the same CD. Not a complex song, but it has the best Iron Maiden riff hands down. The galloping bass and guitar is legendary in the song.
I couldn't agree more, awesome riff
I was just listening to it yesterday. Underrated.
💯
The bass is incredible in that one
@@daverowe4566 No.
Before First Iron Maiden: I don't like the distorted guitar
Me: 😏
Third Iron Maiden: this guitar solo is too good to play over
Me: 🤭
Got to admit by now that Steve Harris' is quite a musical genius along with the rest of the band
He's the man behind alot of their songs, he's got it all going on in his head.
*This is what great music does to an individual: when a composer/musician appreciates the work of individuals in other genres of music.*
I generally hate these types of "reaction" vids but your knowledge of music theory makes it far more interesting and engaging.
Ikr. They’ve never heard the song before 🙄
I once won a pub quiz because of this song! it was a draw between my team and another and the tie break question was 'Where did Alexander the Great die'? died of fever in Babylon. Thanks Iron Maiden! (The other team answered Macedonia). this is one of my favourite songs from Maiden - or do i mean one of my favourite History lessons?
It's a great line!
Whenever Alexander the Great is mentioned (alright, not everyday but you know what I mean) my first thought is those lyrics and don't forget his first ruck in 334BC.
Other than that my ancient history is very poor ha ha.
The fact that we need this guy 35 years ago to deconstruct what Maiden was doing - just more evidence how awesome & great it all was.
Bro when you played piano over the solo i got chills.... that was insane and your ability to quickly learn a song and improvise over it is awesome!!!!
About the lyrics and the "rap" part, Bruce said that this verse
"Hellenism he spread far and wide
The Macedonian learned mind
Their culture was a western way of life
He paved the way for Christianity
Marching on, marching on"
is one of hardest one's he has ever sung.
I'd recommend Powerslave (Phrygian Dominant scale with A-C-Bb chords for the verses) or To Tame a Land, with other nice eastern-like scales and riffs.
Seconded! The cool thing about Powerslave is that Bruce wrote it all by himself, it's a masterpiece.
@@Nghilifa Agreed.
To tame a land
1986 was a great year for music! I saw Iron Maiden at Mecca Arena in Milwaukee on this tour. Somewhere On Tour. I was 13! The space shuttle exploded in January. My grandmother passed that September within days of this album release. My mom came home one day with the record and cassette because both had the logo and album title in different colors. The cassette label was in green and the album was in yellow. This album saved me!
0,56 "I' m working with the studio recording", there is no other possibility, millions of fans are waiting for that song to be played live!
Great reaction video as always!
There's still a long road ahead but here are my suggestions:
- Paschendale
- Seventh son of a seventh son
- Dance of Death
- When the wild wind blows
- The talisman
- Sign of the cross
- To tame a land
Greetings ✌️🇲🇽
Burning Ambition, Twilight Zone, Purgatory, Killers, Remember Tomorrow, Prowler, Another Life, Murder In The Rue Morgue, Running Free, Phantom Of The Opera - their best stuff ;)
Nah...he still gotta learn beast and powerslave :)
lmao yeah how is there nothing from powerslave on here
This is definitely the best review I have seen. There is demonstrated real time theory and emotional response in it. Excellent job man.
For next review, I suggest To Tame a Land. It’s based on the story of Dune and has AMAZING chops. Lots of middle eastern phrasing and scales.
This whole album was perfection !!!
"To Tame A Land" off of the "Piece of Mind" album released in 1983 is one of their best tracks.
Also, "Powerslave" from the album of the same name, released in 1984.
So next time should be Steveth son of the seventh son song or Infinite Dreams from this album oooor Powerslave song written by Bruce with some Egyptian vibe and scale.
Upvote for Powerslave. One of my personal favorite songs. Steve Harris is a monster on the bass in this, IMHO of course 😁
Great shout with Infinite Dreams, absolute classic.
Chalk up another vote for Powerslave. Lots of changes, great rhythmic ideas, great melodies.
I think next could be 'Sign of the Cross' (Live in Rio). Another interesting Maiden songs are ''The Thin Line between Love & Hate' and 'Brighter than a Thousand Suns' (Live in Abbey Road).
Brighter than a Thousand Suns also a good suggestion.
It's one of their buried treasures, rarely played but genius....love that song!!
A piano version would be incredible!!
Why do we love Iron Maiden so much? Because its like listening to a full album with just listening one song.
Your reactions are not only a "simple" reaction, they are a musical classes. Thank you!
From the 80's again, in my opinion, you should react to the song called "To Tame a Land" (Piece of Mind album).
Based on the science fiction novel Dune. Author Frank Herbert refused to allow the band to call this song "Dune." The band originally sent a letter to Herbert's agent for permission. The response read as follows: "No. Because Frank Herbert doesn't like rock bands, particularly heavy rock bands, and especially rock bands like Iron Maiden."
Songwriter Steve Harris tried to convince Herbert that the song would be a good promo for the book, but he still refused.
Nowday To tame a land is better known than Dune 😂 He took it all up the ass I think
What an ass he was.
@@lukeflow3159 I agree with you!
@@Benazgul Do you know the story between the song "Reckless" (Judas Priest) and the movie "Top Gun"?
It was the other way around with Judas Priest.
As the story tells us, Priest were approached in early 1986 for a possibility to offer a theme song for the movie as the soundtrack was due out via Columbia Records. Thus the band played them “Reckless,” which seemed like a perfect fit because of its content and style. Producers of the film liked the song and were ready to attach it over the closing credits, however what sank the deal was their demand that the rights of the track would exclusively go to films soundtrack. It meant Priest could not include it on their forthcoming album and that was just a price too high to pay at the time. Of course no one also knew how successful the film would become.
Well, the song is still clearly about Dune. It just doesn't bear that title. But it's undeniably about the book.
Would like to see you do Iron Maiden's Revelations
Live in Sydney version.
In case you don't already know, Steve Harris, the main songwriter in Iron Maiden, will be the first to tell you that he doesn't read music and couldn't tell a pentatonic scale from a golf club.
This only confirms how interesting this music is also for classical musicians. So complex and at the same time so catchy. All these Iron Maiden songs that are 15 and more minutes long are a symphony in themselves. So many rhythm changes, so many solos...
Phantom of the Opera - Iron Maiden next please!
Yes, it would be great to hear a reaction to pre-Bruce era Iron Maiden. Especially this song.
@@corepuncher The live at the rainbow version is excellent but I prefer the 2015 Remaster since the progressions and solos in the song is clearly audible in that one.
You should do Iron Maidens Paschendale. It tells the story of a ww1 battle, the song's got the tempo changes, progressive elements, crispy clear sound on the studio version, and you can find good live versions as well.
This song always gives me goosebumps!!! I would love to see this live with an orchestra!!
A History lesson in a song. Typical Maiden. This song helped me answer a Jeopardy question or two over the years...lol!
If you want History in songs, try Sabaton if you haven't heard about them yet ;)
Iron maiden fan here: next is Seventh son of a seventh son
I'd like to hear you react to Phantom of the Opera from their first album. It features their original singer Paul Di'Anno and while most of the other songs on the album are "short rockers", this one is longer and hinted of what was to come.
First two albums are brilliant, but also basically a different sounding band entirety- very bluesy in places
Really awesome seeing someone enjoy and fully appreciate their work. Great videos man, I love them!
I feel smarter just by listening to Doug. Even though I do not know a single thing about composing.
Should definitely do Blind Guardian - Wheel of Time, it would be right up your alley!
I think it's time for blind guardian. And bards song would be perfect for a piano breakdown
Has to do And Then There Was Silence
Anything from BG twilight orchestra would also be interesting.
I second that, it is totally time for some Blind Guardian.
Yes please do some Blind Guardian tunes.
Appart from the already mentioned songs I think 'And the story ends' should be covered.
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is a classic and Bruce is amazing, and for more great vocals and instrumentation, Infinite Dreams has a great instrumental section with some nifty guitar harmonies and chord changes. Another Maiden Masterpiece. My vote is Infinite Dreams.
I love how infinite dreams builds up and has an epic Bruce scream right in the middle of the song.
I only recently discovered your videos but I love them. Thank you.
Doug, I love your reactions to songs, you're so real! And in this one I love how you get amazed by those unespected chords and changes of rhythm.
You could give some of Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff a whirl too... Jerusalem, for example. Adrian Smith also plays on that. Great reactions!
Accident of birth and chemical wedding are class albums

Insanely jealous that you can listen to song one time, and just play along with it!
As for the beginning, I yield to my favorite author when speaking of "The Classics"!
“All that shit starts in E.”
― Stephen King, Revival
I am totally jealous about being able to just instantly be able to sit at the piano and play anything.
Well, for me it's not the piano, but the guitar. But Maiden is pretty "basic" as far as chords and harmony go. Mostnof it is either in E, D, or A (minor, of course) and then if you know your chord-scale relationship, you can jam along instantly, 90% of the time.
@@revylokesh1783 E C D etc chords progresion is typical for 80' Maiden songs written by Harris.
E is the lowest note on a standard tuned guitar so it's the heaviest key to play in if you don't tune down which is the main reason so much classic metal is in E.
I just discovered that channel and I am now addicted. Those reactions are amazing!
I absolutely enjoyed watching you break it down.....been a fan of these guys since my teens. Thank you and hope to watch more like this👍
The time is right for The Seventh Son of The Seventh Son
If you would be down for it, i and many more would love a whole album listening of "Seventh son of a seventh son" by Iron Maiden. But you have to keep an eye on the lyrics, too.

Good choice, Doug. My best history lesson when I was in high school back in 1986, when this came out. First c-cassette was worn out very quickly so I had to buy LP version too which I recorded to cassette for daily use. Fine ending to a very fine album ! And as always, interesting to hear your sincere thoughts about a song, I´ve been listening to a very, very long time. Almost 35 years. Ouch :-)

If I may, I would like to put some opinions of mine on this work and would love a response from you, or the community that follows it. (Sorry, but I don't speak English, so I'm using the famous Google Translate).
1º - We have the sound of the wind as if it brought, from the past, the phrase of Phelip II from Macedonia said to Alexander.
2º - The sound of the march is important, as I believe it is the army preparing or even marching through Greece.
3º - The sound of the galloping bass is a characteristic of Steve Harris, but here I think he found a purpose that was more than fair for her. Alexander was a great general who used cavalry formidably. So the possible reason for using this feature.
4º - When we go to the ground, at the beginning, it gives the impression of something unfinished, it seems that the melody does not end. And it shows a certain uncertainty for the final battle.
5º - In the minute 7:02 you are amazed by the sound. I believe it is the moment when Alexander and his army come across the army of Darius III. Then the final moment of the battle began.
6º - After that, the bass stops being galloped and only becomes fast and frantic, and with much more strength. It is the armies walking against each other. The more metallic and heavy sound of the bass is due, I believe, to represent the sound of armor hitting swords and shields as they walk.
7º - It is interesting for the guitar to start on its own, but after finishing its melody a second guitar enters and accompanies this same melody. I believe it would be as if a soldier felt alone in the battle, but out of nowhere his companion appears beside him and helps him at that moment, showing that he is no longer alone.
8º - Now when the ground becomes more aggressive, this is the soldier's battle cry and at each stop is a soldier from Darius III, falling. Until the victory cry begins, which is at the end of the ground.
9º - Bruce returns and the music continues at a fast pace. Possibly because Alexander's goals had already been accomplished and things got a little "run over" (I don't know how to say it in English).
I love how you follow along with the piano in real time. Spices things up!
I love your insights Doug. Keep it up.

Probably one of my favourite Maiden tunes. I'm a big history nut as well as a Maiden fan so this one is like OH YES!!
If you want more classic-era Maiden, anything else off the Somewhere in Time album is sublime. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is also of similar calibre. They both have that heavily layered, ambient synthy sound! If you want to try out something later, try your hand at a couple of the non-Bruce tunes see what you reckon of them! Sign of the Cross and The Clansman are good shouts for the two albums they did without Bruce, Phantom of the Opera is a good shout for their first couple albums before Bruce!
Sign of the Cross would be awesome!

Your musical knowledge and recognition of time changes is a super power, I wish I had that skill, just amazing! Love the Iron Maiden reaction videos, one of my favourite bands for the last 30 years! You should do some Iron Maiden piano reduction covers.
Great reaction, Doug. Playing with them on the fly, Very cool. Next: To Tame a Land. Epic!!!
Love when u do these with the piano can hear the nuisances and can hear ure commentary well... thanks again bud. GREAT STUFF
I never realized how much I needed to hear Iron Maiden on piano until now.
The Great song ...UP THE IRON🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼!!!
Dude, you’re amazing. Wish I had your talent and musical knowledge. Great reaction. 👍👍
Hey Doug, I've been an IM fan for 40 years. I absolutely love their compositions. Their first six albums were so refreshing (at the time) to listen to. I have listened to those albums hundreds of times. But I have to say, listening to you break them down like you do, makes them refreshing all over again. I sit in front of my screen wide eyed and ears open, taking all that you have to say. Adding the piano to this video only reinforces your take. Thank you for doing these! I hope you continue to "react" to more Maiden melodies.
The bass on this album and the Powerslave are phenomenal !
To tame a land, that song has some of the most interesting armonies and chord progressions Maiden has ever done
I like so much your videos and your job, but this reaction was incredible. Particularly, I love Maiden, this sound (as this entire album) is beautiful. Congrats and thank you for your contribution.
It is not just a joy to watch these, it's a privilege! Someone with this level of knowledge just sharing it like this is amazing. Think about what a time we live in for this to even be possible. That said, around 8:41 when you locked in and played it was so rad! That's a level of cool not a lot of people reach right there. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent, knowledge, and skill!
I've never realized how good this epic song would sound on the piano alone. (next The Evil That Men Do/Infinite Dreams or another history lesson - Paschendale)
It sounds totally goosebumbs when you play along. You can clearly hear that (many) Maidens songs are truly epic and classical worthy underneath the soaring heavy metal vocals and the heavy distorted guitars.
Doug, I absolutely love when you count out time signatures! It's something that has always fascinated me, even if I lack the skill to do so myself. Keep up the classic rock and metal, my dude! \m/
You make it look so easy that gives me goosebumps!!!
