Fun fact, the Zoras are a musical people and in this game the names of their main characters are related to a key part of their themes - Mipha (Mi-Fa -> E-F); Sidon (Si-Do -> B-C)
Wow I just learned from my Italian flatmate that some countries call notes by do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-si-do instead of ABCDEFG! Cultural differences are mind-opening :0 I didn't fully understand your comment until just now. Very cool musical reference
@@Lieferanth Coming from France, where we we use the do-re-mi... naming for the notes, every time I watch a video in english with some music theory, I have to focus so much to convert the names.

I love how some of the soundtrack is really odd (and moody) reharmonizations of previous Zelda game's themes. For example, the temple of time is now in ruins and you almost can't tell that the actual temple of time motif from ocarina of time is still in it. It's really well executed. Sounds like the memory of a place. Ruined, just like it is in the game.
It is what game-music is all about, like movie-music. Not just music standing on itself but music enhancing the story of the game, enhancing the feelings which they want you to have in that part of the game.
Yeah, the music itself is good and all, but its implementation in the game is what makes it so great. It's a masterclass in sound design/arrangement/etc for videogames.
You should definitely post your rendition of the main theme as a separate video as well! That way people can add it to their yt music playlists and enjoy it more often
I love hearing people’s first experience with Breath of the Wild, it’s a true masterpiece! Hearing your take with music knowledge behind it too was fantastic :)
I rarely write comments, but I've been following you for a few years and I have to say: you are such a planetary treasure! It's such joy to come along for your journey and learn from such an inspiring human being! Please keep it up! You're really one of the people helping me to shift my focus back to music from a boring office job. I have a degree in musicology but never really worked in that field, which I'm looking to change now. Somehow, you manage to present everything at a very high level that one might think would just be daunting and intimidating, but it's all so wonderfully accessible and comforting! No one else can be this good and still so motivating! With your knowledge and perspective on music, you show what is possible without making it seem impossible, if that makes sense. This comment relates to your channel in general , but this topic in particular was tackled many times on youtube, but never by a pianist who comes from a comparatively neutral angle, not having been a fan of the series for years. Very interesting! Thank you so much for your awesome work! You are truly enriching my life and surely many other's!
I love what you did in this video. Both breakdown and performance. Having grown up with video game soundtracks as one of my core sources of musical inspiration, I think BOTW is a sort of reboot of modern video game soundtracks. It feels so intricately embedded and tied into the world. Thanks for making this, Nahre 🙏🏼
"reboot" Well, it sounds very Zelda, but more laidback. If you love it, check out some of the other games' soundtracks like _Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword_ , and have you heard JRPG soundtracks like Chrono Trigger and Tales of Phantasia?
I can't believe it. I started watching this channel around the time BotW came out and I was so inspired by the music from both in parallel. Just yesterday I was looking at the opening chords to Mipha's theme and wishing to understand the chords like you often explain. To hear you play that theme and riding (night) is surreal to me. Amazing rendition. To me this is everything and it did not disappoint.
please do more video game music, there are so many unappreciated musicians in this medium. the music may not always be the most complex, but the emotions they create are essential to the experience of a great video game.😌
One of the best parts of the Zelda soundtrack isn't just that the music itself is incredibly beautiful and perfectly fitting for each situation, but also that many of the melodies and motifs have a looooong history in the franchise, each being emotionally loaded with so many feelings from previous games, and hearing the new interpretations of them in BotW in new contexts makes it so much more impactful than just "this is a pretty musical phrase". And gosh dang, your arrangement is GORGEOUS! I gotta relisten to that until I have it memorized.
Yeah, as an old mega-fan of the franchise, the Riding (Night) theme always makes me tear up with the Zelda Main/Overworld theme motifs. The franchise has such a long list of iconic melodies and motifs it really is mind-boggling.
That rendition of the main theme at the end is absolutely incredible. It's sounds like something you'd hear out of a spin-off or prequel game. So good.
It's not. The title of the video is a question she answers about 20 seconds in. She initially thought it was overrated, but after she started playing, her opinion changed. Not every clever or convenient title is clickbait.
@@euomu Given that is an old game and enough people know it’s a great soundtrack, the title is clickbaity. but not at all a bad thing - Nahre has great insight and it’s worth watching.
@@euomu a clever title that attracts clicks is clickbait, that's just what it is. Maybe what you meant to say was that not all clickbait titles are bad, since the word "clickbait" has a negative connotation to it these days
@@SerpongeDash The question implies the answer, and the implication is false. If you have nothing but good things to say about something and you angle the title towards negativity, then that's drawing attention purely by implying controversy. Such a title draws engagement because it's supposed to make people look at it and say "what!? How can somebody think that! I'm gonna go and yell at them for being wrong!" And when the video then immediately renders the question irrelevant and actually has nothing to yell about at all, that's clickbait. Great video nonetheless.
Magical, quirky, kaleidoscopic, beautiful, and true to the game. It's wonderful how you made all the fragments develop and flow until it becomes concert music! Your performance is brimming with life and drama, simple or virtuosic as best serves the moment. I really think you're on to something here, a new avenue to explore ❤
The soundtrack has a lot Debussy elements, the spacing, the breaks between chords, non functional harmony, definitely Debussy was a source of inspiration, like the Children's Corner, some of the preludes. It does the job very well in terms of creating the adequate emotions to the environment of the gameplay. Just great!
Lots of the motifs are borrowed/carried from older zelda games, and my favorite part of the OST is how BOTW contextualizes the motifs in a new way. The feel of this game is very unique compared to other zelda games and it shows in the music too.
Your arrangement was absolutely beautiful. It is the most unique arrangement I’ve ever heard, and it possesses the mystic spirit of Breath of the Wild’s terrains and Hyrule’s ancient sites. I really appreciate how you’re able to understand how each piece of the original score was trying to achieve within the game, and your arrangement for the main theme perfectly captures the ambience that the development team was going for with the game. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon your channel. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos, Nahre!
I cannot even begin to fathom the amount of effort that must have went into making this amazing video. And then to top it off, your arrangement really captured the overall essence of the BoTW music perfectly. Brava!
Your intepretation with the main theme is absolutely phenomenal, Nahre! If someone told me this piece is in the game, I'd believe it. It felt like as if your style of composition is definitely meant for the BOTW soundtrack. I love how you incorporate the several, various aspects of the OST overall, sort of a medley following not the music but the many themes BOTW follows. Thank you for making this video, I've always been curious about the technicality of BOTW's music and seeing the many impressions from esteemed musicians like you to its music appealed to me.
I'm an amateur musician without a constant stream of projects, and I barely have time to eat. Nahre is a professional performer and composer of music, and somehow still manages to upload high-quality UA-cam videos semi-regularly. I highly doubt she has time for videogames, let alone a channel dedicated to them. But yes, it would be interesting
I just purchased your book :) I've been trying to learn piano for over a decade now, and haven't really done it correctly until a year and a half ago, when I finally started getting lessons from a piano professional. Your music style has always resonated with me in some way or another in the years I've been following you (specially the playful staccatos and short sounds), but, it all seems very complex to me, considering how little music theory I actually know. I've always wanted to support you in some way (but I'm not a fan of monthly suscriptions like Patreon), so being able to support you by buying your book is amazing! Not only does it make me happy being able to contribute, but I get the chance to learn from, what I personally believe to be, a modern musical genius. Stoked to see you got a chance to play Zelda BOTW! The sequel will be coming out soon in May (we're getting a trailer today in about an hour!), so I hope you give it a chance as well. I'll be reading your book and using all that extra knowledge for my piano-learning journey. Take care, God bless!
Your rendition is great. It's like the original main theme but with the bouncy rhythm of the horse riding theme, and all of the needed intimate and delicate feelings. I'm so happy videos about my favorite video game soundtrack are still being made 6 years after it's release. It's truly an auditory marvel.
You really captured the “intimacy” aspect in your arrangement beautifully. How long did it take you to come up with the arrangement after listening to and aurally immersing yourself in as much as you could from the game?
I just started the game a year ago. I found out why it is so great. The soundtrack is intensely amazing. Using nostalgia, but new refreshing modern piano vocabulary to describe the sincerity and depth of the natural world. Since then, I have made tons of arrangements for my piano and guitar students from this game. I am ready for Tears of the Kingdom to reinvigorate new music into our lives.

Ok now I want a UA-cam channel just of Nahre Sol analyzing and rearranging Video Game Music. So much great music out there: Undertale, Hollow Knight, Outer Wilds, Celeste, etc....
If you like listening to tunes from those OSTs played as jazz, can I recommend The Consouls for brilliant vgm jazz covers (they've done 350+ covers so far) eg. ua-cam.com/video/1O1Cf62P_X8/v-deo.html
Most people would just react to the music on youtube and make a "review" or "reaction". I am glad you actually went and played the game a bit, this really stepped up you video for me!
Nahre, I had seen this video some time ago- just rewatched it, and it gave me a huge amount of inspiration once again. People say listen to the greats to get better, but I should just listen to you cause this insane. I'm aware that there are way more difficult pieces to play out there (what you played I would still consider difficult) but it's the way you create and story tell with your arrangements that surpassed any level of difficulty. I will now look for videos you have related to your practice routine to implement some methods to mine~ and hopefully I will start playing in a similar style to yours
I will be coming back to this video to listen to your main theme arrangement GUARANTEED. It is so so lovely! Also side note: I think you're pretty much perfectly on time for the hype with the sequel coming out soon :))
I feel like your arrangement did a great job at capturing the varying-yet-cohesive nature of BoTW. It took the themes of the game and became its own thing while still being recognizable as both yours and BoTW’s music. Very impressive!
I do think that the soundtrack is best heard contextualized within the game. So much of the mood is a combination of the visuals, the music, and the foley/environmental sounds. It really puts you into the moment in a way only the best soundtracks do. Both your music and Breath of the Wild evoke similar feelings inside me. Whimsical, intimate, introspective, at times lonely I would love to see a breakdown from your point of view *why* you think people may find some of your music similar from a more technical standpoint, because a lot of us seem to struggle to find the words to adequately explain it. I know that the instrumentation (obviously) plays a big role, along with the arpeggios and the extended chords, but I'm not sure exactly why.
As a classical musician and gamer, the Zelda series has never disappointed when it comes to music. I love it all; even though I've never played BotW (yet), the whole series is filled with musical treasures. Your arrangement at the end of the video is absolutely splendid. I wrote a piano fugue on one of the Zelda themes from the Nintendo64 days, if you'd be interested in trying out a Bach/Koji Kondo mashup?
That fugue sounds fascinating, did you put it on Musescore? Also, as a classically trained fan of jazz who does not game but loves vgm, please allow me to recommend The Consouls for great jazz vgm covers. ua-cam.com/video/o5m-NHfWwko/v-deo.html (I think their keys guy was also classical before jazz)
@@cooldebt Ooooh, Musescore might not be a bad idea, considering I have no intention of selling my score for money (it was always for the fun of it). I feel somewhat shameful self-promoting here in the comments, but here is a link to the video (that particular fugue is nr. 2 of 3) : ua-cam.com/video/gLxBlGLa_mY/v-deo.html
Love this rendition of the main theme so much!! Always grateful to not only hear your performance, but also to see how you physically connect and express emotion when playing. Thanks for diving into the soundtrack of one of my favorite stories ever!
Nahre, you are a magician. Your music is magic. I love everything about your work. I'm always learning so much from your videos. I'm deeply thankful for that. You are a huge musical inspiration for me.
Ooohhh Nahreee! Thank you so much for covering this! I've had a thing for game/movie themes for like forever haha.. Would love to see more! If you do decide to cover more gaming themes, I'd love to hear your thought on Genshin Impacts soundtrack 😊 Thanks for you high quality content as always!

would love to see you talk about the music from the new zelda game when it comes out! the music from the trailer alone is already so so so good... love your videos!
know this OST inside out and your interpretation was such a beautiful synthesis. I could hear the entire OST in small fractions. Like a musical speedrun of BOTW. Bravissima
Hi! I rarely comment on UA-cam, but I'm a huge fan of the game myself, and I just wanted to say thank you, so much, for this amazing video! It was honestly so much fun to watch you break everything down and your rendition of the main theme was just phenomenal, wow.
WOW your arrangement was so awesome, made my jaw actually drop. you perfectly captured the energy of the game but with your own twist on it!! beautiful!!!!!
I like how when she was playing at the end, she plays multiple melodies that are so recognisable but different and at the start it felt weird as it feels like it doesn’t go well together and that it’s just random. But as she continues playing it you start to expect it and the different Melodies starts to blend together better. My favourite part was 9:30 when it went from the intro theme to the battling theme so suddenly which I feel is like the sudden changes that can happen in the game like suddenly encountering an enemy while you were just chilling.
Nahre, I’ve been watching your channel for several years now and you tend to make videos on topics that match my current interests each time! Like your synthesizer series and now the Zelda soundtrack, which I’ve been observing piano arrangements for lately. This is why I love your work, or one reason!!
Amazing!!! We've been playing through this game just now and falling in love with the music again. Loved this video so much. We patiently await the score for your arrangement!
The arrangement of the main theme at the end was one of the most impressive things I've seen on here. Not just because the performance is immaculate, but also it was such a creative way of interpreting the music and modifying it to make it personal. I was just passively watching this video while washing dishes at the beginning. By the end I was staring at my laptop, stunned. That was nuts!
To add to the comments about reharmonizations of old themes, most of the musical foley-like sounds (e.g., solving a puzzle) have been present in Zelda games since the very original NES title. Many of the neat aspects of the Breath of the Wild OST and the musical experience of the game are iterations on ideas present in other games. There's a reason so many of us love videogame music :)
I am always amazed by how smart you are and how you can make sense of any kind of music no matter how complex it is... I did buy your book a while ago, but I have been busy procrastinating.
The soundtrack of BotW is absolute genius, as is your breakdown of it. Thank you SO much for taking up the game, and analyzing it with such beauty and grace.
Its so cool seeing my favorite video game series collide together with one of my favorite music youtubers to make entertaining and interesting analysis video. Please do more videos like this!
Fans of bands like The Consouls have been recommending this OST for years and they finally covered Kass's Theme and Rito Village, so for a jazz ensemble cover (as opposed to solo piano), they are well worth checking out! (Also for a ton of other brilliant covers like Secret of the Forest in odd time signature with strings)
Amazing composition! The final chord was amazing. I love the syncopated staccato broken up by smooth legato. I love the dynamics and use of space. This is why I think it reminds people of your music. It's never dull and always changing. You're amazing! It's obvious you put your heart and soul into almost everything you do. Your piano skills, your composition, your YT videos and amazing editing. Please remember that it's sometimes okay to do nothing "productive" some days :)
I love the marriage of my two favorite things: classical music and video games!!! I love your channel and how much fun you have exploring music in every way you can and when I saw one of my favorite games next to your face in a thumbnail, I was elated! And your performance at the end?! You were having too much fun! It’s so good! 🤩
Loved your piece - really beautiful. As always a very interesting video that I learned a lot from. Thank you for sharing your work here and also for explaining the theory behind the music so well.
I really liked your interpretation of the BotW-theme!! The huge rhythmic and tonal understanding you need to write something like that is beyond me. Let alone the skill in playing it. 😅 But I have just bought your book. I have basic knowledge and play piano since many years but I hope to understand the more complex things by reading it. Thank you for the awesome video about this gorgeous game‘s ost!
I heard your rendition and I like to imagine that you're playing the music in the order in which you experienced it. First with the opening where you first see Hyrule from upon the cliff, then immediately picking a fight with that goblin down the hill, then briefly finding relief from the battle only to be met with another foe. Then, finding the glider and floating through the sky, exploring, learning more about what happened in the past from the great beasts to Calamity Ganon to the fall of the champions. I also like to imagine that you did a ton of exploration on your horse just based off of the many staccato sections, flipping to legato, then back to staccato again. I absolutely love how it sounds like different excerpts of the soundtrack spliced and thrown into a mixer and how it's as if you're excitedly telling a friend about your time playing Breath of the Wild from recalling many different moments in the game. Then, the end is like the feeling you get when you finish a good book or an awesome show and you're just sitting there going, "Now... what do I do?" At least, that's my interpretation of your rendition. Ha ha! 😅
Your arrangement strangely reminds me of final fantasy 13’s compositions. I love it. It’s mystical yet whimsical at the same time. This kind of content excites me. Thanks for your rendition.
Can I recommend The Consouls for FF jazz covers and in particular this early video (production quality has improved as they have become better known) ua-cam.com/video/Y8zzAV1iKTY/v-deo.html
I'm not sure what amazes me more... Your performance of the theme, or the fact that you were never influenced by these BOTW compositions while working on your 'Alice in Wonderland' album. Your compositions definitely have more complexity and depth than everything in BOTW but there are some phrases in your album that clearly give the listeners ears a nostalgic feel to playing the game BOTW. That's pretty awesome. Seems pretty likely that the Zelda composers may have similar influences to yours from their studies of music theory. I'm not sure how to describe the phrases that remind me the most but it's more the style. I think the only way I could describe it would be the bouncy intervals used to express a chord, like teeter-tottering. I think that's the most obvious similarity. It was really interesting to hear your analysis on this OST. Thanks for posting this! 😃🎹🎶🎵
This video made me so happy. I grew up enamored by Zelda games, and the music in Ocarina of Time is directly responsible for inspiring me to learn music theory, and eventually led to the music composition degree I got. Your videos always take me back to my college days in the music program, and to watch you discover and arrange Zelda music now has been a true delight. Thank you!
omg yesss!!! i've been waiting forever for you to do a video on zelda and its finally here! i love the composition you came up with in the end. thank you nahre, i really needed this today 💕
Wonderful, as always. But what amazea me most, Nahre, is your sense and breadth of musical exploration, I've just came off your analysis of Eric Satie's music and now it's a video game. All great 😊
I only watched 45 seconds and I am already fanboying over the fact that one of my favorite composers is analyzing this music from my (second) favorite game!
Waow that arrangement gave me some serious chills ! Impressive as always Nahre, I think you really captured the intention of the composers with your piece, it could be the grand finale music in the next Zelda ahah
Final Fantasy Tactics has some great music. Although, it "borrows" a lot from John Williams,, it's still amazing stuff. I recommend it! Excellent, beautiful upload! Thank you for being amazing, Nahre Sol! 🙌
@@Nickshreds890 also Aerith's theme or the whole FFX piano collection album! Or Nier Automata OST? There's just too much stuff, videogame soundtracks really are a rabbit hole 😂
This video was so detailed, broad and thorough... Never seen one person explore so many different elements of a soundtrack in such a short time, really. And the tasty arrangement at the end... I loved every second of this video!
I can only imagine being your neighbour and hearing these musical elements drift across from your (beautiful) grand piano. It would make my heart soar thinking that someone had discovered a secret or opened a chest in their house! Your arrangement was stunning, it was lovely to hear this new art from music that means so much to me. To my ear, you captured many of the textures and "feelings" of the original music, but there was a curiosity in there too, almost like picking up a rubix cube and flipping between the different sides trying to figure it out.
I hope so! Glad they finally added a category for videogames and other media instead of just the classic 'movie soundtrack'. Also a Kirby arrangement won a Grammy a few years ago! That was awesome!
I am over the moon that you did this video. I am a classical pianist and love “serious” music and I have a difficult time convincing people that BOTW is a work of art and has some of the most moving music I’ve heard. You’re right that you have to play the game to get immersed. P.S. the music in the Hateno village with the strings is beautiful and my favorite in the game. I didn’t hear it in your video so if you haven’t heard it I highly recommend it - I think it depends on the time of day or season as to when it plays.
Video games have left over stigma from the early bleep bloop days decades ago. That age faded into a niche thing not long after as technology evolved and video game composers are no longer limited by microscopic amounts of RAM and CPUs with a tiny fraction of the power of an i386. Anyone still doing bleep bloops are about nostalgia and aesthetic. The limits now are imagination, directors, and, seemingly, budgets. As an example, I do very much dislike that Square-Enix went with dated sounds for the PS4 Dragon Quest 11 soundtrack, making it sound like the lo-fi soundtracks of 16-bit SNES games. The Switch version got a much higher quality soundtrack, probably done with modern sample libraries. They skimped out on variety of musical themes for a JRPG with an obviously large budget as it comes with killer visuals.
Can I also recommend that you point people in the direction of bands such as The Consouls who remove the 8-bit limitations and work with the often brilliant structure of the OST to create amazing jazz covers? ua-cam.com/video/o5m-NHfWwko/v-deo.html
@@Jason75913 VGM also suffers from parents (like me!) who didn't want kids to waste time just playing (addictive) games and so did not appreciate the music. All that changed when I found The Consouls who do excellent jazz vgm covers like this ua-cam.com/video/o5m-NHfWwko/v-deo.html (also Rito Village in their most recent livestream)
Awesome! Thanks for that breakdown of Zelda's themes and I loved your arrangements of them on piano. Keep up the great work - this channel inspires me to play more piano!
If you loved the variety in this Zelda game, you'll love the rest of the series' soundtracks, and JRPGs, too. "Tales of" games, Xenosaga, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, and many others. That arrangement at the end is awesome. If you do a whole remix album, I'm sure it would be a hit. 😉 edit: oh, also, I hope you check out Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2, their soundtracks are symphonic and pretty great, I especially love the Lei Havina theme: ua-cam.com/video/rpsofHD8C8Q/v-deo.html
Any other piano teachers here on this channel? When, when will piano education go to what you're doing -- the magical intersection of contemporary/popular stuff grounded in solid music theory?? And, any chance you will release sheet music for this so we can analyze it, hahaha. Nahre has posted SO much gold on this channel, thank you, Nahre!!
Also, a question to anyone who has an answer: Regarding those short musical themes, like those for solving puzzles, collecting items, or dying. Would it be fair to call them 'motifs?'
Your arrangement is beautiful! There is so much going on I think I will have to listen through it multiple times to really appreciate all the harmonic details.
That was gorgeous. I loved how you integrated so many of the textures of other music in the game into the main theme. Also, it really brought out for me how much the original music is influenced harmonically by Debussy and particularly Ravel
I know nothing about musical theory, but I love to see musicians talking about some music that I love... this video is no exception, and your version of the BotW theme was incredible! Somewhere around 09:10 reminded me a lot of one of the tracks from the "Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections -Field and Battle-", but I can't quite put my finger on it... in any case, KH is another game series which has impeccable music throughout its 20 years; I would highly recommend you listen to the soundtracks, and I'd love to see videos like this one, with your opinions and explanations of them. All in all, a fantastic video - thank you!
This is something I’ve been waiting years for, often being reminded of your harmonic and rhythmic style when riding horseback in Hyrule. Your interpretation of the main theme is magical, I wish it went on forever. This is a really special video to me and I can’t thank you enough for making it.

So good.
I know the title is clickbait but still gotta say it: it’s phenomenal.
So neat to see you cover this soundtrack Nahre
Thanks!! 🙏🏻😂
I really think you're on to something here, a new avenue to explore ❤
kaleidoscopic.. a really fitting descriptor
Just great!

As a huge Debussy fan, I definitely hear that link(!!) as well!

I love debussy!
Brava!
Absolutely! ❤
Nahre, lloré mucho con cada explicación y demostración. Me encanta el sonido de tu piano y tu estilo de tocar, eres la mejor pianista. ❤️🩹
we need a nahre gaming channel now 😁😁😁
Ong bro
😅
I'm an amateur musician without a constant stream of projects, and I barely have time to eat. Nahre is a professional performer and composer of music, and somehow still manages to upload high-quality UA-cam videos semi-regularly. I highly doubt she has time for videogames, let alone a channel dedicated to them. But yes, it would be interesting
@SagaciousScallop what in the world are you doing that leaves you without any time to eat? making a Nahre Sol gaming channel??
@@euomuno one asked 😭
Not a gamer, still you managed to open the door to the musical sophistication inside. Thank you for today’s Alice in Wonderland ‘fix’❤
Your arrangement and interpretation is so wonderful. Love it. A dream inside a dream ...
Whimsical, intimate, introspective, at times lonely
I would love to see a breakdown from your point of view *why* you think people may find some of your music similar from a more technical standpoint, because a lot of us seem to struggle to find the words to adequately explain it.
"Tales of" games, Final Fantasy, and other JRPGs rock at music, too. Loads of gems to discover. 😉
BotW OST: instant nostalgia.
If you do decide to cover more gaming themes, I'd love to hear your thought on Genshin Impacts soundtrack 😊
Thanks for you high quality content as always!
not one of my favorite music youtubers breaking down the score for one of my favorite games! what a beautiful arrangement & performance at the end, too. lovely work nahre, this makes my day! 😄
would love to see you talk about the music from the new zelda game when it comes out! the music from the trailer alone is already so so so good... love your videos!
know this OST inside out and your interpretation was such a beautiful synthesis. I could hear the entire OST in small fractions. Like a musical speedrun of BOTW. Bravissima
fantastic video as usual. its cool to see your take on it!!
Thank you!!
Love that you make these kind of videos. It just goes to show how much your vast musical knowledge keeps growing.
My most favorite music in this game is the part when the shrine is located in a cave. It gives me so much peace every single time.
Stop procrastinating, just do it.
Beautiful and inspiring. As you are. Thanks. ❤
Yes more composers need to talk about this game!
So fun to see the creative integrity of video game music begin to be so widely recognize. A lot of these tunes are a part of the era's songbook
But I have just bought your book.
Then, the end is like the feeling you get when you finish a good book or an awesome show and you're just sitting there going, "Now... what do I do?"
At least, that's my interpretation of your rendition. Ha ha!
FFXIII's soundtrack is so good. Never played the game but I bought the soundtrack about a decade ago because it's that good.
That was gorgeous. I loved your version. (I don’t play the game.) Aside from your writing, I love listening to your playing.
Thank you!
I loved that when you sat down to play it immediately clicked for you why people love the music. ❤
It did! 😅
omg yesss!!! i've been waiting forever for you to do a video on zelda and its finally here! i love the composition you came up with in the end. thank you nahre, i really needed this today 💕
Beautiful Interpretation! Your variation on the main theme is goosebumps material
Wonderful, as always. But what amazea me most, Nahre, is your sense and breadth of musical exploration, I've just came off your analysis of Eric Satie's music and now it's a video game. All great 😊
It's simple: this OST brings the concept of "soundscape" to a whole other level.
Whoo! Nahre knows how to deliver fun and inspiring musical content and this one is no exception!
Doesn't matter HOW late you are to the party - it's STILL an awesome game!! Loved the video - made me miss playing the piano!
Thanks for this analysis, and for not shying away from music terminology! I'm glad to see your store offers more advanced books as well.
im really glad you like it! This game means so much to me and to hear people outside the general gaming space appreciate it is really heartwarming.
Well I think it sucks and you should be embarrassed for liking it.
Jk I bought a switch just so I could play it
I can only imagine being your neighbour and hearing these musical elements drift across from your (beautiful) grand piano.
The official Breath of the Wild soundtrack is the type of masterpiece that deserves Grammys.
Maybe the Tears of the Kingdom soundtrack can win a Grammy.
All that changed when I found The Consouls who do excellent jazz vgm covers like this ua-cam.com/video/o5m-NHfWwko/v-deo.html (also Rito Village in their most recent livestream)
your arrangement was gorgeous!!
Thank you!!
edit: oh, also, I hope you check out Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2, their soundtracks are symphonic and pretty great, I especially love the Lei Havina theme: ua-cam.com/video/rpsofHD8C8Q/v-deo.html
Any other piano teachers here on this channel? When, when will piano education go to what you're doing -- the magical intersection of contemporary/popular stuff grounded in solid music theory?? And, any chance you will release sheet music for this so we can analyze it, hahaha.
Nahre has posted SO much gold on this channel, thank you, Nahre!!
this interpretation was an absolute WOW
Thank you!!
Hi Nahre! I just saw you credited for one of the songs in the game Deemo 2! I love that game to death, I was so surprised to see you there
Top 3 songs for me gotta be Guardian Battle, Hateno Village (Day) and Molduga (Vulnerable)
Amazing take at the end btw. Beautiful af. 💃👏🏽
Also, a question to anyone who has an answer: Regarding those short musical themes, like those for solving puzzles, collecting items, or dying. Would it be fair to call them 'motifs?'
No
😄
Your arrangement is beautiful! There is so much going on I think I will have to listen through it multiple times to really appreciate all the harmonic details.
nop
That was gorgeous. I loved how you integrated so many of the textures of other music in the game into the main theme. Also, it really brought out for me how much the original music is influenced harmonically by Debussy and particularly Ravel
No.
😁
I know nothing about musical theory, but I love to see musicians talking about some music that I love... this video is no exception, and your version of the BotW theme was incredible! Somewhere around 09:10 reminded me a lot of one of the tracks from the "Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections -Field and Battle-", but I can't quite put my finger on it... in any case, KH is another game series which has impeccable music throughout its 20 years; I would highly recommend you listen to the soundtracks, and I'd love to see videos like this one, with your opinions and explanations of them. All in all, a fantastic video - thank you!
Hyrule Castle theme for me tops the list. When you go from the outskirts and then it transitions. Wish I could relive that first time hearing it again
This is something I’ve been waiting years for, often being reminded of your harmonic and rhythmic style when riding horseback in Hyrule.
Your interpretation of the main theme is magical, I wish it went on forever. This is a really special video to me and I can’t thank you enough for making it.
Craaaazy gorgeous! Your arrangement is so freaking beautiful! Wow. Would love to hear you arrange the castle theme which I find super baroque and thrilling. I’m running to get your book while I wait for “Tears of the Kingdom”. Muchas gracias por este hermoso video 🙏🏽
