You know you really are dealing with an unapologetic geek when their review of an '80s family comedy opens with a reference to the Ramayana.

Harry & The Hendersons as a film that really made John Lithgow a go-to actor is, by itself, a reason it deserves a lot more respect. I appreciate that he treated the role so seriously--in fact the whole cast seemed to treat it seriously, which is what makes it fun to watch.

This was released as Bigfoot and The Hendersons here in the UK, and I went to see it in the cinema, it was released fairly close to Christmas when we got it. I loved the movie and was very sad when I heard that Kevin Peter Hall had passed away.

Not sure why I've never watched this. Love the nod to Nightmare at 20,000 Feet

My step-mother's sister was hired as an extra for this movie. She plays a television news reporter, and you can see her in this video, right at 3:38, just between the guy with the striped tie, and camo-guy with rifle.

I find the Patterson-Gimlin film very interesting because it was made during the Sixties, when special effects were pretty limited compared to what we have today. I can't help but feel that the movements of the "creature" look very fluid and realistic, so the question is: if it's a a hoax, how did the makers manage to make the costume look so real with the limited means that were available at the time? There have been attempts to recreate the film with the ape costumes that were available in 1967 and none of them looked convincing. Personally I wouldn't exclude the possibility that there could still be species that simply haven't been discovered yet.
The Mothman is my favorite cryptid (The Mothman Prophecies is an excellent movie that doesn't get the attention it deserves).

Saw this soon after it was released on VHS and the entire family loved it.
    Ameche? Suchet? Lithgow?
Come on, it's gotta be entertaining!

In 1976, my parents took the kids to a double feature at the drive-in. We saw In Search of Bigfoot and In Search of Noah's Ark. We all slept in one room that night because we swore Bigfoot was gonna get us.

It's a beautiful film. Young people today are missing out not watching these as kids

I've never seen this movie. I always assumed it falls into the same category as countless other films I've also never seen but could still
outline the plot pretty accurately regardless. The fact that it was essentially a TV pilot pretty much confirms that notion.
My favorite cryptid is the first one to be taken out of "cryptid" status and put on a taxonomical chart.
So far it's about a thousand way tie... :)
Are we going to find out if three heads are better than one in the next video?

I've got an "I saw Bigfoot" story, or maybe it was the overactive imagination of a 10 year old seeing a bear or elk in the woods along the Oregon Coast (I don't lose sleep over it). But now, closing in on thirty years later, I'd rather jam with Harry.

FYI, the term unicorn is actually in the Judaeo Christian Bible and refers to a rhinoceros not a horse with a horn.
