You can't blame everything on Ham. He was only able to put the people on the floor that was available. Yes, he made some questionable coaching decisions. But that is what you get with a first-time head coach. Blame the owner for not getting a veteran coach.

And yet he still found a way to make them problems in this series. Game 2 they blow a 20 point lead because Ham runs out a lineup with Dinwiddie and Hayes. Game 5 he gives Dinwiddie 14 minutes and Reaves only 34. Lakers had a lead in game 5, Nuggets start going on a run, Ham doesn’t call a timeout until after the Nuggets take the lead. Going back to last year when the organization prepared Darvin to be successful at the trade deadline with outside shooting (Beasley) and big body relief (Bamba), he failed to correctly deploy them and made some messy and counterintuitive rotations. There was a late stretch when AD was recovering that Darvin just refuses to play a big with Bamba benched and continuously going with 3 guards. They were destroyed on the boards with Houston and Memphis.
This year, with the signing of Wood and the emergence of Christie from his summer displays, Darvin again failed to properly instill confidence in them by playing them in spotty situations. Overall his preference to cherry pick his previously coached players over the assets that were put in place for him to manage and succeed is the reason he is on his way out. Lakers should go back to the drawing board and think about going with an X & Os coach. Lakers have players that are smart and adaptive in LBJ, AD and Reaves. Additionally there are players that have specializations like Rui (shooting) and Vanderbilt/Vincent (defense). A coach with competent X & O skillsets will optimize and get the best of this team to perform at a high level, which Ham will never be able to if he is kept.

Giannis received 3 coaches in a year and a half span. At least Lebron's own is last 6 years and 3 coaches. Luke Walton and Darvin Ham were not good decisions. Bringing in 2 rookie coaches was a poor decision. Vogel was a good hire and even as a Pacer fan for the last 2 decade, he did a very solid job as a Pacer coach. He is a defensive coach that needs defensive players to win. Management gave him Russell Westbrook and they thought that was a good idea to give a defensive coach not only someone that does not know how to shoot but misses defensive assignment on a consistent basis. With that being said, Vogel lost his job not because he couldn't coach, but his decision making with Westbrook being scared to bench him when he was costing you games and asking management if it was okay to bench him when you the head coach. Anytime head coach is asking management if it is okay bench a player that is costing you games means you don't know what your doing.
