Interesting real life fact for ya about round baling, you never actually drive straight on the swath. Always zigzagging, so that the swath sits on the ends of the pickup. Otherwise the bales end up soft and mushy in the corners, and often spoil or fall apart
Since in real life I own a kubota tractor and equipment, I like to use the Kubota Equipment pack in the game. That Kubota wrapping round baler has never paused for me. I have been able to bale, wrap, and unload without stopping. This equipment in the game is basically a kubota orange Vicon baler..but I never had to stop while using it. Enjoyed the video!
That's awesome, yeah I think kubato brought vicon at some point and so they have their full range branded at kubato. I fully expect the real world experience would be completely different.
I like the fastbale a bit more, just because it is great at making hay and straw bales. No stoping required. Because you don't wrap bales and hay/straw bales have higher capacity, you can run it in full speed (mostly). Basically you have round baler that runs as square baler with hay and straw. And the same machine bales and wraps grass in one go. All in one machine, not so high HP required. Ideal for small to medium mixed grass and arable farm.
Same. I don't really do silage bales anymore just hay and straw. But I will say the swath width definitely matters in how fast or slow the fast baler is.
Well done sir, I've run a similar test on a much larger field and even went so far as to try it with a single 10m swath then a combined 2x10m swath just to see how it handled it. Much as you I found the difference to be negligible but the Vicon ever so slightly slower over time, for both swaths. Another commenter mentioned the speed with which you run other bales (not wrapped) and for me that is a huge benefit at least when starting out and budget limited. As a game progresses (and budgets grow) maintaining a larger square baler for unwrapped work (or even a larger round baler) almost becomes a necessity purely for the handling afterwards... Cheers
I find it interesting how a few see this as a good starting option. For me at 110,000 I always go for cheaper options. I do have some more tests planned based on the comments.
@@DisTurbedSimulations for clarity, it may not be the very first baler I grab, but considering the speed and horsepower requirements (cheaper tractors than the square balers) does lead to the ability to afford the package much earlier than the large squares with larger tractors and isolated wrappers. By the time I go that route I'm generally much deeper into a map and I've gone for the larger equipment for other reasons (larger planters/seeders, larger field work equipment, etc.). All of that said, will keep an eye out for the other tests. As with most mods, I try to take everything to a test map and fiddle around a bit before bringing to my more serious saves.
It really is dependent on the size of the swath. Fastbale is probably best on a small farm where you're running a single or double mower set (and not a triple or Big-M!!) so that it can achieve a fast base speed. My main point of contention is shipping time - using the Anderson Bale Collector (24 bales), large round bales will result in the fewest trips, so for that I'll usually wrap with the xTractor, since it's the only basegame/modhub wrapper that services 180cm rounds. Also making the biggest round bales (on follow-me) does allow the worker to keep up with the mower (or even harvester!).
It's interesting how the fastbale speed adjustment matches the normal baler of the same size over the length of the course. I suspect no matter what the swath size this speed matching would remain consistent. To bad they didn't give it a little speed boost to match it's name.
Really interesting. I’d only used the fastbale once and got completely put off by the sheer quantity of bale handling needed. If it’s actually slower too then I’ll put up with the stop/startiness of standard round balers. Wish I could work out a sane way to test overall speed to quantity of silage made of all approaches.
@@DisTurbedSimulations yeah. I can think of at least 6 combinations of equipment you’d need to include. And then you’ve got travel time with bale carting or forage wagons. Lots and lots of variables. Might put it in a spreadsheet and see if it looks workable
I think in real life I'd take the fastbale every day, and probably in real life many other factors effect it. In game the ability to just drive might out way that speed for some people.
Download the mod that slows down and stop the tractor automatically for EASY mode baling. No need to back up or overshoot the swath, just align and floor it. :)
I believe they made the FastBale wrong 😅 I think its supposed to use the main chamber as much sd possible, not fill the pre-chamber first. This makes it go slower as well..
Hi Disturbed, great test and something which I was wondering myself. However 10m swaths kill the FastBale. Why not re-run the test with 6-8m swaths where it can run at full speed.
Smaller swath means more passes to cover the same field, and a 10m swath isn't that wide. If I have to run a 6m swath to get the fastbale to run at a sensible speed I'm then having to do a lot more passes.
@@DisTurbedSimulations I agree, the question kind of answers itself. However seemingly 10m swaths double fertilised seem too much for the 125cm bale wrappers full stop if ones like the Pöttinger/Claas haven’t wrapped the bale on the back by the time the next one is ready. I tend to run 8m for this reason. Half tempted to run my own test now 😂 I’m guessing the larger swaths are forage harvested or square baled in real life, would love to know if anybody has some input.
@alexg737 let me know if you do test, I wish more people would test stuff and learn. Also if I was running the pottinger or similar I'd be doing the 150cm bales. I included the 125cm to be fair to the fastbale
great video. this i like as testing.... the fast fastbale is fastest and it not need to stop so it got longer without stop as the kverneland had to stop to unload... faster but not .... fastbaler slow but kind of faster....

I think I saw some of the on an old millennial farmer vide0
That was a good test I must say, thanks.
I do not play with Sound on my self either at the same reasons as you, so I understand you.
Thanks, and nice to find another mostly silent farmer :)
@@DisTurbedSimulations you are welcome sir.

Cool test mate! Very nicely put together as well!! Fancy editting!
Thanks, wanted to try and do a little more with the editing this time

Yes bigger bales save time elsewhere, that's why I like the pottinger for its 150cm values or even better 240cm square bales.

intentional maybe?
Great video D/S I was a bit surprised that the fast bailer wasn’t that fast but great video and keep up with the inspirational videos 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Pete, it's why I can it the slowbale if I use it 🤣

Interesting, l guess it would have to include stacking the bales, and compacting a silage clamp 🤦♂️

I always felt the fastbale was slower too. Great test! I think in real life probably pretty nice not having to clutch and brake between bales.

Yes I mentioned that mod, but I wanted a test that was applicable to all platforms ;)
That’s a nice test. I’d pick either the Pöttinger and increase the balesize or the modded FastBale
Modded fastbale is a nice solution lol and even bigger bales
@@DisTurbedSimulations yeah the MarkThorBale
I was shocked at how slow the Fastbale is in FS22 because in FS19 it moved just as fast as any other baler.
I found it slow in some situations in FS19 too.
