  • Hey everyone! Here is another Jeep video for you guys. I put a lot of time and research to get these side steps and figuring out how to put them on. I bought bolts and they didn't fit and then someone helped me with a bit and tap to make the bolts fit. I thought the project would be tough but it turned out to be very easy! Don't be afraid to try something new and learn new things. I'm always learning something new daily about how to work on my TJ. I enjoy the new me trying to push myself to do more.
    Enjoy the video! Let me know if you have any questions!!

    Have you seen where you can repaint the faded fender flares? The TFL cheap jeep series did it and looked pretty good. Pretty sure it was spray paint. Any thoughts on that?

      That's what I probably will do. When it's time I will check that out. Kinda waiting for a little warmer weather in Indiana. I like that idea alot. I also kinda want new flares. Lol everything is money! I will definitely look that series up! Thanks for the advice

      Jones Edition your welcome! Jeep stuff gets expensive but doing it yourself and finding alternatives helps. I guess thats with about anything.

      Yeah it sure does. I love it and will be doing this for awhile. I wish I can put put content for the jeep more often but I have to buy a little at a time or my wife will kill me... lol

      Hey I'm not sure what you are asking. Sorry. I don't have the TJ anymore. Did you see something during the video? 🤙

    Great video! How did you know where to place the side steps on the frame? Did you eyeball it, measure it? Thanks

    • @jones_edition
      @jones_edition  2 роки тому

      My jeep frame had bolt holes built into it. 7 bolts holes on each side. It was designed into the frame. But the problem with that is the tj frame rusts bad so the bolt holes are not super strong.

      @kmh23jeep 2 роки тому +1

      @@jones_edition ahhh, ok, so you drilled your own threaded holes into the existing holes? I'm sure that's what I saw you do.

      @jones_edition  2 роки тому +1

      @@kmh23jeep I sold the jeep awhile back. I think I had to retap some existing threads that wouldn't accept bolts.

    My '05 Rocky Mtn came with the side steps but whoever installed them did a lousy job. At least 2" of steps are under the frame making it barely usable. Since I'm 6' 1" I only use them to put the top down, but my wife and sons need them. I'll have to re-install them. Good video!

      Thanks brother for watching! I lost some of the footage for that video. Had some better shots that were lost. Not a hard project at all. Even with drilling out my threads and retaping them.

    • @JeepTJWheelin
      @JeepTJWheelin 4 роки тому +1

      @@jones_edition I have to look at the frame to see where they bolted these to. It probably is installed in the wrong slot holes or just needs spacers to extend it out. Not sure how anyone can screw this up.

    • @jones_edition
      @jones_edition  4 роки тому +1

      @@JeepTJWheelin yeah that's very strange. I'm not a very technical automotive guy but it didnt take alot of research to figure out. Hopefully you can get it fixed. I noticed that I dont use mine everytime I get in and out but it's nice to have them. I like them more getting out so the back of my thighs dont rub the bottom of the door frame exiting. Lol kinda stupid but the little step out makes all the difference

      @@jones_edition Even my 11 yr old son is using them less and less and he's only 5' 2". But they are helpful and need to be installed correctly otherwise, what's the point.

      @@JeepTJWheelin you are right! And good luck with that! Maybe take them off and go a different route if nothing else. I'm sure you will get it all square away
