I was pleased to come across your video of about the NYC Ferry on the East River. I was fortunate to be able to assist the City in the planning and early design of the expansion of ferry service on the East River several years ago, and before that I was able to assist with several projects associated with the Staten Island Ferry. Very nice to see some of the fruits of my labor. You did a great job explaining how to use ferry service on the East River, which is much more complex for the user to navigate compared to many ferry services with only two or three terminals. Luckily, New Yorkers are already used to a complex subway system, so the multi-terminal East River ferry service is a piece of cake.
I rode the Staten Island railroad, the ferry, and the subway for years. The ferry is painfully slow. I had a nearly two hour trip from the south shore of SI to midtown.
I highly recommend a ride on the NYC ferry. We visited Roosevelt Island and then took the ferry to Wall Street. The view of the skyline was breathtaking
Congratulations on 10K Thea - although you deserve even more. You give the clearest, most concise information, thank you for all your hard work! I will finally be New Yorking this week!
10K viewers is not a lot for the quality of content that you repeatedly put out. I guarantee 100K is on it’s way, no question. You deserve it Thea. 👍🏻😉🤗
your channel is so unbelievable helpful. You're making sure to explain every single little detail for tourists to don't make anything wrong when landed in NY. Thank you so much for your effort. Please keep doing them!
Cool channel, love it. You have a good "entertainment factor". You talk fast and I do not speak english soooo good, I have to struggle a bit with your speed :-) but you share so much informations and that can be very helpful.
thanks for making this video!! my daughter and i will try out the nyc ferry to Battery Park this morning 😀 hope we can follow the directions and reach there early for some breakfast before taking a cruise over to 🗽 Liberty Island. So excited!
Hello Thea and happy winter from here in Sydney Australia. Wish I was over there enjopying your NYC summer. Great video about the ferries - With the exception of the Staten Island ferry I've not rode any of the other commuter ferries on my previous NYC trips - this video has inspired me to do so when I hopefully next visit in 2023. Also, I think it's great the ferry fare over there is the same flat $2.75 as is the case for the subway and the buses. Over here our Sydney harbour ferries are hugely expensive when compared to our bus and train network. You guys rock !! PS - Well done on reaching 10K subscribers ... onwards to 20K !!!
Thanks! I used to take the ferry to work everyday pre-pandemic. It was such a chill commute. There was this guy I saw every morning who always brought along a bowl of cereal during the commute. By the time he got to his stop, he would be done with breakfast.
The Coney Island line is the best invention after Thea's UA-cam channel. Thank you for getting out there to film a lot of footage. Haha your two kittens are cute.
I love, love, LOVE the ferry! I live on East End Avenue so the subway isn’t very convenient- I take the ferry whenever I can. I especially appreciate that dogs are allowed on the ferry.
Whoa! I did not know you can transfer from one ferry to another within the 90 minute window. The ferry is the best way to get around in the summer! Thank you, and congratulations on your subscriber milestone!
Thanks! Yup, during non-busy times you can cruise the East River roundtrip using the same ticket. Once you get to a terminal, you can get off then get board the same ferry because it will be going back.
@@UrbanCaffeine correction: your ticket is not transferable on the same route, even within the 90 minutes window, you've to get new ticket for the same route/boat.
First of all, CONGRATS for the 10K subscribers dear Thea! You definitely deserve those and many many more, your content is awesome! Second, we'd like to thank you for this video, it was one of those we were looking for, ahead of our NYC trip. And a quick question: do you think staying in Long Island City and using the ferry is a good, safe option for tourists?:)
Hi! Thanks for the comment. LIC is a great place to stay since it has several subway lines making different parts of Manhattan accessible. As for the ferry, I always recommend it. I feel it's cleaner and safer than the subway.
I’m going to NYC this summer and was actually looking at the ferry’s as an easy and beautiful way to get to Brooklyn from Manhattan, this video helped a lot, thank you so much! 😎😎🥰
Do you have another ticket on the way back? How do you do the full trop over and back? Which stop do you have to change in to get to the last stop? Are there amusements on one of the stops
Hi, will be visiting NYC for christmas. I have a couple of questions 1) Is it worth it taking the NYC ferry during the winter, for the views and photos etc 2) Is it worth buying the USD 27.50 ticket 3) Which is the best cruise/route youd prefer for some1 who is visiting the NYC for the 1st time (one or more)?
The ferry is a great way to get around, and the views are fantastic. Also, the Staten Island ferry is free and the return from Staten Island gives you a terrific view of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. 😊
"Coney Island route was announced to be introduced in Summer of 2022" Yeah, about that... But I do still hope the service comes to fruition in one way or another in the near future, just get a solution all the environmentalists, staff, and townsfolk can agree on
Thanks! I was thinking of doing the OMNY card video once it's more available to people. Right now, it's not accessible to everyone. Let me know if there's something about the OMNY card that you would like know about.
@@broyofroyo1207 Right now you can buy the OMNY card at select convenience stores. I got mine at a 7-Eleven, but I think Duane Reade has them now. Hi Thea I am planning to visit NYC from TORONTO. I have been watching your videos , love them they’re very very helpful and informative. Thanks for putting tremendous amount of work that can watched in few minutes videos. It is really really hard work. Thanks thanks a lot.there is 1 more thing CityPass sightseeing pass more and more which makes me confuse that which one is worth to buy. Another well-thought out, organized video. It's no wonder it would taken better then 40 hours. Question though, how much input do your feline companions add, or do they just nag you snacks? 🤣🐱
We are a family of 6. Can I buy the a 10 pass and two single passes for round trip to save money? We are traveling from midtown to wall street to fo under the bridges and then to dumbo to explore. Then back to midtown much later.
UPDATE-A ferry ride will be $4 starting Sept 12, 2022.
TF ? Yeah never using it again . That's too much for me lol

NYC ferry is the most calming, relaxing, and most picturesque way to commute. I'm particularly excited for the Coney Island expansion. 👍👍

Is the open air seating just completely unbearable in like early December?
Is there a ferry to Rockaway Beach all year round, even in the winter?
I'm pretty sure it's year round. But in the summer, Rockaway ferry is modified to accommodate more riders.
The EMPIRE State. An International City of the world.
I'm hearing about upcoming fare changes for nyc ferry on the news. Raising it to $4 one way trip. $1.35 senior/disabled. 10 trip $27.50. September 1
Well that's unfortunate. But it makes sense since the ferry has been in the news for audit issues.

I have always pronounced it rowt. A root is on a plant or tree.
