Hi there, Great video! I am planning to do the same next week from fairbanks. Im confused to either take my rental car or book a tour which seems so silly to spend when you can drive. Have driven on snow a bit in Chicago. I wont mind going slow as 30speed. What do you think?
Shikha R Ralleigh I took a rental car (Jeep Grand Cherokee) This time of year there isn't much daylight so as long as you're prepared for that and you're able to drive on ice for long periods of time you'll probably be ok. Keep in mind that most rental car companies prohibit using their cars on this and other gravel roads in Alaska. Another to keep in mind is that if something does go wrong you won't have cell service to call for help and you can be hundreds of miles from the nearest facilities.
Try a voice-over telling people what not to do, what to do, who to rent from, and the different things you learned in this experience. It could save lives.
Is it scary to drive this road in the winter? Or is it not that bad? I have very limited experience driving in the snow as it rarely snows where I live. But I'd love to do this in the winter it looks amazing.
I didn't find it scary but you should keep in mind that the road is very windy and steep and it will definitely have snow and ice which will make it slippery.
If you don't know how to drive in snow, you have absolutely no idea what you are getting into, and need to stay off this road in winter. You will end up a statistic or have a $40000 towing bill. BTW where are the golden plates?
Reading these comments are jokes most of yall can't drive for shit in the city talking about Alaska if you can't drive in country areas in the winter there's no way in hell yall can make it out there
👟 String sent me and thanks for the ride 👍
My flight to Alaska leaves tomorrow morning. I'm super excited to ride down Dalton Hwy. 🤩
Damn, I’ve done the whole thing in a little over:8 hours from Fairbanks to Deadhorse. I think I saw you pass me but I blinked so I’m not sure.

Unbelievable video rebbe
Amazing!
Hi! Aryeh, what rental car company did you use?
And is it was February or March? I don't see much snow. It's surprise for me
Hertz
do they allow to drive on this road?
Elena Kapitsa no. But I just used insurance from my credit card for the inevitable windshield chip damage
I expected it to be completely dark, hence above arctic circle. Stupid me, lol
Andreas Hoppe this was in March when daylight was back already. In this spot December there would've been no daylight.
Same time of year as the Iditarod.
It looks............well it looks VAST
Too fast cant see anything !
Use your "settings" [the gear wheel] to run the video at 0.5 speed - it looks much better then.
