There’s plenty of green lanes in North Yorkshire, if you are interested in using them then join the Green Lane association or the Trail Riders fellowship. I live in the area and do a good amount of off roading on a Beta 480 enduro. Nice little video.👍
Hi Jimjoeliliejack 😊Thank you for your comment and the info. I will certainly look into this as I am very keen to do more green lanes in the future. How do you find the Beta? Thanks for the feedback 😊 I really appreciate it. Please subscribe 👊
@@TyresNTorque 👍 I recently sold my less than a year old tiger 900 and got the Beta 480rr, I found that although the tiger was a fantastic and comfortable bike, it was a bit of a twat to pick up. The Beta is akin to a pushbike with an engine. I do a lot of solo green lane riding and I get a lot of comfort knowing that I’m not going to get trapped under the Beta, that said it’s such a nimble bike I’ve not dropped it yet, I’ve been places on it that the tiger wouldn’t go. Get yourself down to Wales on the mick Extance experience, it’s a fantastic insight to proper off roading you’ll learn a lot there.👍
That’s great, sounds like the right choice for riding off road 😊 The weight difference must be huge! I don’t want to do much on the Transalp, mainly because I don’t want to drop it. I’m tempted by an old Honda XR as a project and then when it’s complete, a bike for riding off road. There is just so much choice 😂😊
Hi John 👋 I haven’t done much at all off road on my Transalp but I am keen to do more Green lanes / light gravel tracks. Nothing serious though as I’m too worried about damaging or dropping my bike 😂 Unfortunately there seems to be so many restrictions on BOAT use. It seems a difficult task commuting up with routes. Do you have any engine protection fitted?
Hello 😊 thank you for your comment. I was using User mode, I have it set to… Power 2/4 Engine braking 2/3 Traction control turned off (it’s usually on full for normal use) ABS on full I didn’t do any steep inclines in that trip but on Saturday I did the same route backwards. It was very dry and loose towards the start / end of the route in the video above. It’s not a super steep climb but it’s by no means flat. The bike had no issues getting up it on the stock tyres 😊 I hope this helps, if you have any more questions please ask away 😊
@@TyresNTorque Hi, and thanks for answering. In a couple of UK videos that I've watched, the Transalp riders were using 'Gravel' mode when on green lanes; which led to my question. Honda have, in my opinion, blundered badly with that mode by employing full traction control. Living in a rural shire in Australia, in which fifty-per-cent of the roads have gravel surfaces, I never use 'Gravel' mode, as the traction control is way too intrusive. There is one long incline on a reasonably well travelled, but often badly corrugated, gravel road that my Transalp simply could not climb in that mode; the traction control repeatedly cutting in until all momentum was lost. Ironically, and perhaps counter-intuitively, it could climb that hill in 'Sports' mode, as that mode only uses one level of traction control! Predominantly, I employ 'User' mode, and my settings are similar to yours: Power 2, Engine Braking 1, Traction Control Off, and ABS in 'Off Road' mode. It is a pain, however, to be forced to turn off the traction control whenever starting the bike. This is the first bike I've owned with selectable modes, and am not a fan; too old!
I agree, for me Gravel mode should have TC off. The TC is very sensitive and I have noticed the exact same thing. If I use gravel mode on gravel, I lose all momentum. It would be brilliant if all of the modes were adjustable, maybe Honda will change this in the future? 🙏
I have one and ride pretty aggressive off-road and lots of steep hills both up and down. User at 4 power and 2 engine break, no traction control or ABS.
Hopefully Honda will bring out an update so we don’t have to turn off the TC every time we start out bikes. What tyres and extras are you running for off road use @jnano2071?

Thank you for this 😊 The TC is a little intrusive and seems to hinder progress on the loose or muddy stuff. Certainly worth turning off 😊 Have you ridden this track before?
Mine are Dunlops, to be honest they are great on the road but absolutely rubbish on the trails. Keep up the good work if you ever come down South Wales let me know 👍🏻
Do you ride off road? If so where do you normally ride?

This looks a blast. I need to try and find some BOATS near me and give it a go
It is a such a great route 😊 The ride that day (including the bits off camera) was a great mix of everything. Where are you based?
Very good❤😊
Thank you very much
I must try some off roading on my TA. I do have a map of local BOATs near me but there's not many.

May I pose two questions, please? Firstly, what engine mode did you use? Secondly, did you climb any steep inclines? Thanks.

That's a great track. Remember to switch off all rider aids on the transalp. It rides much better.

@@TyresNTorque Yes and on my Transalp 750.
@@dogzero1 Great 😊 Did you do it in the same direction I did or the other way around?
Did you do it on stock tyres?
Hi Stephen, yes this was done on the stock tyres, the Metzler Karoo Streets.
I have a review coming soon on them 😊
What tyres are you running?

Any plans on switching out the Dunlops?
@@stephenthomas3108i had the dunlops as well and they were fine for me, I now have the pirelli scorpion Rally R
