A Few Jobs From One Site

- This is one of my regular sites. Last maintenance I was told of a few different issues that had come up but the weather prevented me from investigating. Went back a few days later.
Job 1: Leak search on a MHI high wall split.
Job 2: Repairing a leaking flashing from a roof penetration.
Job 3: Investigating an OPA 550 Temperzone package unit which was going into defrost frequently.
I have an Instagram page where I post other content: @hvacr_tech_aust
With the newer version 4 uc8 boards, they will go into a lockout if a fault repeatedly happens and will stay in lockout even if the unit is power cycled. You clear the lockout by holding down the SW3 button for around 10 second’s. The older version 2 uc8 a lockout could be cleared by a power cycle.
I only found this out when I asked temperzone why the newer uc8’s get stuck in lockout. I changed so many because I thought they were faulty 😂
Keep up the good work mate!
Oh ok, that’s very handy to know! Thanks for that mate, definitely going into the memory bank (phone notes 😂). Haha it would catch people out when previously all you had to do was power cycle.
Best way ive found to remove silicone is mini wire brush attachment for your impact. Brings it back like new in seconds.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll need to grab one from Bunnings.
Hey man im a fellow fridgie from melbourne, does your leak detector work on nitrogen iv honestly never heard of that? can you clarify
Hey mate. No it won’t pick up straight nitrogen, but the system had a little refrigerant in it so I was just increasing the pressure so my leak defector could get a hit off that. It’s just the fieldpiece IR leak detector.
@@hvacraustralia Ahhh i See, i always assumed the nitro would push the refrigerant away and that the gas could not mix with it
I haven’t had issues using nitro.
yeah it mixes with gas. I sometimes add a little r134a vapor. Then add in my nitro charge. Electronic leak detector will have far better chance of picking up a leak. Works well on R-32 systems as electronic leak detectors
@@thanktheknife thats a interesting tip, iv got a fujitsu 9kw i installed 7 years ago and its got a leak that i spent 2 days searching for and cant find for the life of me
Sikaflex for roof penos all the way!
I had a mhi 8kw unit do the exact same thing, threw a code, i pulled the gas out, weighed it, yep low on gas. I pumped it up and tried to find a leak, i couldn't find anything. Its pressure stayed at constant, so i changed the schrader as that was the only thing i didnt check.
3 months later, same fault, i couldn't believe it. I pumped it up to max operating pressure 2200kpa from memory when i was diagnosing it, it held, no leaks found. In the end it was pair coil with pin holes in it, but i couldn't find it, it vacced down fine. Head fuck.
Damn, what a pain in the arse! Do you remember the brand of pair coil? It’s weird they throw a fault code too. Mine form memory was relating to a PCB issue. I go back to this site regularly and it’s still working so definitely no board issue 😂
