I feel like this video (although many of yours do) just emphasize the point that none of it really matters, and at the same time, all of it matters. Train hard. Period. The rest is noise. Which this industry is full of.

Exactly. So many people are focused on a hundred small things, when mostly it’s about training consistent and hard. That’s 99% of growth.

Yep. Anything that is to/close to failure and progressive is going to work.

The whole point to building muscle is to make the exercise harder.

I like this variation when i get sick of always focusing on explosive concentrics. I actually get stronger all of a sudden when going back to concentric focus only.

Yes, because you are a complex system, and there are carryover effects from improving other ecologies (systems) in training

But what it is the objective of training? Lift weight from point A to B or just to make your muscle work harder?

For me doing extremely controlled reps allows me to use less weight which minimizes joint wear.

What are your thoughts on "supramax" eccentric training where you lower way more weight eccentrically than you can lift concentrically?

Why are you making it more complicated mate? Whats the rationale behind that and what adaptations are you trying to stimulate from

I agree with everything, clicked on this thinking you were gonna shit on slow eccentrics, but im happy to see you explain my thoughts exactly. It's a harder VARIATION, and as such is good to switch things up, but also one of the ways to make exercises less injury prone (less weight often reduces chance of injury) . I prefer going heavy with controlled technique, as it seems to be best for ME for safety (controlling the negative), hypertrophy (tension on the muscle) and strength (heavy weight). In the end everyones training is personal, and techniques to change it up is really good, whether you slow down the eccentric, change reps or do rest pause. Anything and everything works, and its fun to switch things up.

Anything and everything works, but you can't do everything and anything even if you had all the time in the world. Training has to be specific towards what you desire. There are certainly general adaptations from the most prevalent methodologies, but you can only take phyiscal qualities so far with that mindset. The point of training is to try to continually adapt and push the organism to new levels. This takes more than 'anything and everything works', especially for the elite or those with a high training age
