- At the Moroso Motorsports Park the Stig's super-sized American cousin puts the Top Gear trio's $1000 wheels through their paces before Jeremy, Richard and James take part in a brake test. Quite simple, accelerate to 50mph and then brake before the alligator-infested river at the end of the main straight! Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: bit.ly/Subscrib...

Basically, the three cars represent the three typical American Car classes,
Camaro = Muscle/Pony Cars
Dodge Ram = Pickup Trucks
Cadillac Brougham = Land Yachts
Hey
We also have school buses
@LaBass666 That's the Land Yachts I believe
@@sleightlyhandy889 yeah busses
not cars.
School buses have ladder chassis; so I guess the bus would be represented by the Ram 🤷🏽♂️
don't forget the SUVs
The Stig is always a mystery. But his cousin is a much larger mystery :D
He's the Stag
🤣🤣🤣🤣
He was only the second Stig that Clarkson got in a fight with, and the only Stig Clarkson hasn't made up with.
American Stig or as I called it the Stog
"Hammond? Alligators, mate."
Such a British response.
TheHumbleFellow northern responce.
"We drew hotdogs, and mine was the shortest"
Lmao can't believe I just got that wow
carpetburn Isn't it just the expression of drawing the short straw, except he replaced straw with hotdog? Or are you suggesting that it's supposed to be sexual?
It's not sexual, they're just mocking the US.
Anzac-A1 how, I don't get that?
Derby Racer think he thinks they pulled out their dicks
Jesus. There's nothing to get. He's an idiot to thinks that they whipped their dicks out and Jeremy being the tallest had the smallest dick which is why he did the voice over. When in reality they just drew sticks. Nothing else to it
2:02 was absolutely beautiful. Little moments like this made the Clarkson-May-Hammond era amazing.
"He didn't make the turn". In a few years, neither did Hammond😅
o h
Hammond: This MF spittin’
This was a prophecy come true
I'm still really facilitated, that he survived it!
What happened?
James’ victory dance is priceless 😂😂 3:44
6:15 *shoves James into a gator... "Oh crock!"
Gravydog316 I died!!
Hammond just Busrts out laughing hahahahaha
"Such an insufferable oaf!"
Love the Cadillac's music! Suits the car perfectly, nice and relaxing.
Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman", a perfect match!
Expect the Cadillac isnt nice and relaxing
I was looking for a comment about that song, I felt in love with it thanks to this video. It’s such a heart warming, at ease song, it takes me to another place... RIP Glen.
@@kristian5821 seriously, they're great aren't they
"Some say he's a CIA experiment that went wrong and that he only eats cheese" so funny!
Only cheese? Which kind?
Its not The Stig... it's The Stigs AMERICAN COUSIN
@@Saucy-ws6jc Oh, but just "cheese" is so much funnier, though. A cheeseburger is stereotypical.
And strawberries for dessert.
@@ericmadsen7470 Imitation American Cheese
Richard Hammond - staring at the speedometer to see how fast he is going .. Now I understand why he crashes all the time. lol
c'mon . it's set up, all of it is
I miss old top gear
Me too
me 3
Me too
-every top gear fan ever
Count me in, I miss Top Gear as well... (2002-2015)
They shouldnt even call it top gear no more
Why do people take their comments about the US so personally? I think it's hilarious.
+Sebastian Cano Roughly a third of the US population are same. Another third are ridiculously patriotic, and are the loudest of the groups (the ones who get the most butthurt). The other third romanticise Russia, Communism, etc etc for whatever reasons. I don't understand it at all XD
Alexis Auld Lol you right.
Because they are sensitive buggers
Americans r the most easily offended people on the planet
Sebass Because they are American.
"HE ONLY EATS CHEESE" :D
May's Cadillac scooting around that track to the tune of "Wichita Lineman" is... inspiring. XD
You can tell this is old because Jezza’s got hair.
@@IshtiaqeOG jermy
2charliep and now he’s built like fat stig
This episode was aired in 2007 I believe. The year of some of the best specials that Top Gear ever did!
He hasn't lost his hair.
Can I just say that they absolutely nailed the music for each of the timed laps?
Wichita Lineman was perfect for the Cadillac, couldn't have though of a better track
I have to say - despite the shitty condition, the Cadillac is incredibly graceful and actually quite beautiful.
Its "fast" at the corners too
Only American can say this
The brakes were pretty good
it is! a beautiful automobile! a real luxury car, not like today's crap cars lol
When Glen Campbell came on I was laughing SO hard!!😂😂
Was one of the most genuinely lovely moments of top gear
Most blue coler thing
Thats the stig's truck driving cousin
except the sunburnt ;)
Builder's companion stig
No his arm is too pale
I was the 100th likes of your comment
Big rig stig
You saw broke back mountain 3 times and thought “I want a piece of that life” I laughed my ass off
we want more new videos and HD quality videos
Was 360p HD ten years ago?
@@JSMEsq actually 360p was SD and there was 480p HQ :) 720p HD was brand new at the time

@@lordgrim1798 that is utterly amazing
4:14 The Party Bus "Peas & Carrots". Quite a scenery!!
I come back every once in a while just to see Hammond crash into the alligators 🤣
Please do more road trips! they are the best episodes :)
A comment from 2010....woww
Oh boy...
Watching this now as an adult, that loves the classics, these are great cars. A stick third gen in quasar blue and a stick short box dodge are rare, and the caddy is just wonderful.
I'm so glad that for the truck's lap they used Runnin' Down a Dream by Tom Petty! :D
American Stig is the Grand Tours' test driver.
Was
@@alangreig4261 you replied to 2 years old comment so yea obviously "was"
Let Em leave him alone people probably wouldn’t have known.
Yeah I thought so
He taught me any vehicle made outside of the US is communist.
I live in Palm beach county and although called PBIR now, it's absolutely still open

"you insufferable oath". I was on the floor gasping for air.
Same
Free`Water I thought he said ''insufferable oaf''
+shazaibbiazahs You are correct sir or madam.
Free`Water A
its oaf, not oath
"I'm gonna need a calendar for this, not a stopwatch" Dead 🤣
"It's null to 60 in 7.9 seconds!" - "Yea once"
Now, with simple tuning, these 80s Camaro now do 0-60 under 3 seconds
@@hybridShinx Simple tuning? Are you sure? I guarantee you'd need to get some forced induction on that thing to bring it under 3 seconds
@@silkywelshman1999 the 5.0 V8 was detuned to 220hp for a reason, the engine actually produces about 400hp so with just natural aspirated setup, it will up to 600hp, of course with sports suspension, larger tyres and limited slip differential
@@hybridShinx Fair enough, I wouldn't call that simple though, and you'd have to be pretty slick at changing gears and at launch to get it under 3 seconds, especially with it being RWD
@@silkywelshman1999 double clutch kit would be enough to get off the line quicker, since the stock gearbox isnt gonna be able to handle 600hp
Yeah theres a lot to be done with this Camaro
"Its salt water crocodiles you have to worry about..."
I think thats just ALL CROCODILES
"and the PIMP mobile was next. I need a calendar for this, not a stopwatch" laughed my ass off :DDDDD

god i miss this so much!
literally grew up watching this with dad
4:29- That actually explains a lot about Jeremy.
4:26
Well Hammond is actually the shortest
YESSS!!! I finally found it!! I have been looking for this for ages!!
" i was expecting errrrerrrrerrrreerrrreeeeeeeeerk! " haha!
Willow Springs in California has all the curves you could want unless you have to have the Nurburgring.
2:22 lol, his helmet being consumed by the bulk below
2:55
DRS Activated
1:55 I am gonna need a calendar for this, not a stopwatch.
Clarkson shoving May toward the river will always be hilarious.
Lol @ 2:25 - "it looks fabulous!"
"You got plenty of time to admire it"
I couldn't have thought of a better song than Wichita lineman as the track for the Pimpmobile's lap
This whole episode is just a massive roast XD
Except the Alabama bit. That was horror movie territory.
Every episode
@Nic Lazzari prove it
Topgear isn't the same without these 3. They are so great together I wish they went back to the bbc topgear
Big stick driving relaxed in Mays car with that music made me laugh so hard :D
haha, "i'm gonna need a calender for this, not a stop watch" xD
“It’s the saltwater alligators you have to worry about...
*...I think.”*
I’m gonna need a calendar, not a stop watch🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Watching this all these years later, I have to say I quite like the Cadillac
God, the Brougham is graceful.
Baymax Stig
Old or not Top Gear is always fun to watch!!
3:41 Haha, James doing Gangnam Style before it was even invented.
Beechaii2 That isn't the dance.
Zoltan Csikos It's a joke m8
I just love this show.
From previouse comments on the song played durin james's caddy driven by the stig was: Witchita Lineman.
3:44
The greatest dance move ever.
It just occurred to me that American stig was probably Jimmy Spencer. He’s the only professional driver I can think of who is that big. Thoughts?
I miss old top gear...
Could be.. There is mark Harmon. Then there was also a time when it looked like tony Stewart would have trouble getting in his car
It was Mike Skinner
Or maybe it was ben collins in a fat suit
My thoughts exactly 🤣
ive seen some big people in helmets and they dont look like that, i think its like pillows or something like that
BBC & the 3 were always the best, creative mix..RIP
Lol
Jeremy "to hell with the clutch"
this is the episode that made me a fan!!
Jeremy why the hell did you punch that producer I miss it like this
If you think Top Gear would've survived much longer, think again. The BBC just wanted to get rid of it in the shape it had. A show like that in Political Correctness bureau (which the BBC pretty much is) caused too many blisters back then. The "fracas" was just an excuse, the alibi the BBC needed to ax Clarkson (and by extension the three guys) off the show. Had it not been that it'd been something else, guaranteed.
@@ramjb Good to know you're a topgear fan Ramjb. :)
That cost him his job and lot of pc
5:24 Jeremy looked absolutely terrified when James did the brake tests.
"Hillbillymobile" lol
The music for the Cadillac was priceless.
hahahahaha i love the stereotype!! oh top gear you're fantastic.
This is part of the first and greatest top gear specials that were to come. from 2006 i think
The song that stig drive James May's car is sounds good.
+Triunp I don't think that's it
+Triunp I have a different version of the episode then, I downloaded it from iTunes years ago. For me it's a laid back blues song with slide guitar. Won't come up on Shazam either and I can't find any info on it anywhere.
Wichita Lineman - Glen Campbell
i love this episode of top gear usa special!
Even as an american i love the jokes about Americans cause i know its true
This raceway is just outside my town. After this was filmed it was reopened and operated for many years. The company that ended up with it decided to destroy it and build warehouses. We fought them for over a year but eventually lost.
On one hand it's good bcz it created jobs but on the other that's kinda shitty. Fkin hate the sight of warehouses.
I love the USA! But I LOVE Britain much more.... LOL!
i see it like this
In ukraine, clarkson is pointing at a fiesta 3 cyl saying "this is brilliant but i like this" (this being the Vw up-exclimationmark)
Top Gear is the best tv show ever in my life ,,,
In this episode they asks the same question I asked myself when I owned a 91 Towncar....
"How did they get such little power from such a big engine?"
My 2016 Civic has almost as much power as that camaro haha
I think the oil crisis at that time influenced that? The fastest method to improve fuel efficiency a bit is to detune the engines.
@@dbclass4075 No, thats not what caused it. Mainly what did it was the switch over from lead to unleaded fuel, and the clean air act altogether. Emissions more than fuel economy, as making an engine less thermodynamic also REDUCES fuel efficiency.
When they switched over from leaded to unleaded, early on in the late 70s early 80s the unleaded fuel had a lower octane which meant engines had to lower their compression ratios to compensate for the available legal fuel. Going from 9:1 prior to, to around 7:1 after. Eventually fuel got better and compressions went back up, but 9:1 in the 90s was still considered "high compression". Hell, my 97 Mercedes was 10.5:1 and that was considered very high at the time and today thats low.
But aside from lower compression ratios to deal with crappy fuel they also had many new emissions regulations to meet which would further reduce the efficiency of the engines by adding on extra crap like complex air pumps, egr systems, richer af/r to reduce nox, exhuast restrictions in the form of catalytic convertors to burn the unburnt fuel from the richer af/r mixtures the list goes on.
Not really "detuning" an engine so much as choking it, which is the very opposite youd want to do to achieve fuel efficiency.
There was nothing fuel efficient about the early 90s modular V8s compared to a modern V8 of equal displacement.
@@shabutir1820 On the topic of the Clean Air Act, are intake and exhaust after-treatment (catalytic converters, particulate filters, etc.) a factor too?
@@dbclass4075 A factor for what? Efficiency? Modern catalytic convertors are very efficient and high flow, which means they have very little impact on the engines overall efficiency compared to early ones.
I dont really know a whole lot about diesel engines.
gotta love the input of a soundtrack from 28 Days Later
Anyone notice James's car has a Florida License Plate?
That depressed boi I think they were all bought in Florida
@@thribs ok thanks
I love Top Gears camera and editing crew.
American muscle car specs
24 litre v34 engine
5 ton dry weight
12.3 bhp at the wheels
That’s really only from the mid 70s to the 90s
James dancing is excellent! :D
Waiting for Amazon to put Top Gear on prime
thatamerican550 they already did
MAY'S DANCE IS JUST HILARIOUS!
Richard: You must brake before the end of the track. At the end of the track, there is a river.
Jeremy: No big deal...
Richard: Full of alligators.
Jeremy: O.o
omg lol
I love how Hammond laughs at the other two starting and his truck ends up being the slowest.
Tom Petty in there, that was great to hear.
This race track is in my back yard! So sad it closed down.
The way the US is now, I completely agree with what Clarkson is saying😂
@Basspilot Found it, song is 'Control Machete - Bandera' when Jeremy's car is doing a lap.
Not only is he fat, he came out of a trailer home Lol. It's all for fun.
4:53 so the marks he is running on has nothing to do with the test haha i love how old topgear was so BBC that they had to hide all the scripting and look impulsive XD
the grand tour is way more fun and a big upgrade for the guys you will always have my suport ! :D
There is no way May made it to 50 and stopped so close to Clarkson.
'' Hammonds hill billy mobile! '' *It starts, clap falls off, Clarkson points and laughs*. You gotta love Top Gear.
3:03 Gta San Andreas :)
I love how when Richard nearly goes into the river, James goes from genuine concern (says God) to saying it's quite funny
I think it's an accurate representation, if 0ver 50% of the population is fat, (which it is) would it not be inaccurate to show them as thin?
love the Cadillac, of course taking a trip in my own i was 70 by the time i got it home from the dealer.
