They can fix it in a few minutes. Without the bridges, it will be so hard to cross to the other area because of the bottleneck situation. It will be very dangerous to cross in the middle or at the middle of the the river if I'm right. (Sorry for Bad English)
I wish you could show us, the effective way using allies armor doctrine, in your way that is. I really love both calliope and pershing They really put a lot of fight for late game. Except the us player in this case, doesnt have good unit preservation
It's one of the easier doctrines to use for the US and I usually don't see people struggle a lot with that company in particular. I have made videos and guides on US Infantry and Airborne doctrines however.

You should play the "Europe at War" Mod if you haven't already. More Skirmishes, Bigger Command Trees, WAAAAAYYY More Damage . Meaning WAAAAAY More Fun.

As first You can tank barier all of bridge and river passed... Later set machine gun bunker for every passed...
Destroy the bridge, then build bunker and place at gun on the middle

How come ypur barracks has to be way back at the HQ to wait so long for your foot soldiers.
