TCG pocket is great for me. I love playing the game, but the insane amount of cards, rules, and size of the decks makes getting into it hard. TCG pocket simplifies the gameplay to 20 cards, and infinite energies, which keeps me from getting overwhelmed. Now I can spend more time playing the actual game, which I’ve always wanted. An incredible game
I’m surprised that it took so long for them to make a Pokémon mobile card game considering how big Duel Links and Master Duel is for Yugioh. These mobile card games bring in so much money.
There is a mobile client for the official TCG, it just sucks massive nuts. Buggy, doesn't have all the legacy cards, missing formats from the previous PC client. Just absolutely shitting the bed there. PTCG Pocket is a breath of fresh air for all of us, as a simulator and as a card game. I want them to add Draft and Theme deck formats so badly.
I always collected rather than play with Pokémon cards. It’s been super fun but got a question. Has there ever been a 2v2 way of playing? Cuz that’d be sick if they add it
@@JakeBake-li3fb There were double battle rules starting with the original ruby and sapphire cards, and that sorta translated well into 2v2 (4 players). Effects and mechanics surrounding double battles phased out with 4th gen, I think.

Okay, you said to mention if I got Butterfree to work... I did. My best deck is Venu EX, Butterfree, and Liligant. Lilgant out first to quick energy up Venu being build in the back, while Butterfree is also built up. Then with Venu out you basically 2 shot everything and with Butterfree, Potions, Erika, and Giant Bloom, you heal INSANE. It's my hard counter to Mewtwo honestly. The only thing it struggles with IMO is Charizard, who is the only thing that can one shot Venu.
Having all those pokemon seems like it would clutter finding your needed draws. Honestly getting a caterpie start is all you need to succeed with butterfree. Butterfree is a 1 energy withdrawal so it can tank while you energy up your venusaur. Llilligant requires 2 energy, and by that point a mewtwo or charizard and will be online to 1 shot venusaur before he's ready to go. You also have 4 heal cards to stall.
I ADORE this game so much. My decks aren’t the best yet, but I still love making and playing them! I was able to get the gold emblem yesterday which was a relief I just wish people would stop stalling for time lol, especially when they have a game ending attack that turn. You do nooooot need to play all your items, a supporter, attach an energy, use an ability, etc (and also taking forever for each) to just deal the final blow after Like I’m just conceding at that point and not giving a thanks I don’t care anymore dhdhdjjdjdkd
all abilities can be activated from the bench so i keep butterfree there to heal my team every turn. basically every turn they do 20 less damage at no cost
If it actually made them do 20 less damage it would be way better, I've seen people using it with lapras but the problem is healing doesn't matter if the opponent one shots you with full health anyway with pokemon like mewtwo marowak zapdos or dragonite, at least if it's used with something like venusaur with over 170 health (survives even marowak 2 heads with giovanni) it's much safer

ty for showing the decks you use in the video. ive been trying to find new decks to play that are actually fun but 90% of the tcg pocket videos ive seen people dont show the full deck.
i made the same nido meowth deck when i saw that the Queen do more damage with Kings on the bench, but i often get stomped by Dragonites because of bad rng [killing my queen or king in 1 turn with 3 of 4 in one single mon] but it is such a fun deck,Dark and Metal need some Ex'es
The Dragonite Deck is so much fun, all you gotta do is use a stall method with either a high HP like Snorlax, Weezing + Koga or even Cloyster. Once Dragonite is out, it’s basically over.
The Venusaur EX deck is my fav! I usually run it with 1 Venasaur, 1 Lilligant, and 2 butterfree. the Lilligant is good for stalling and prepping evos and energy, and then once everyone is evolved and prepped it's essentially unstoppable
I loveee playing Venusaur. I run it with Lilligant to make up for the hefty energy cost. If you can get Lilligant out front the first couple of turns, you hit for fifty which can usually two shot a lot of set up cards while also helping you get up the energy you need on the Venusaur line in the back in two turns, kinda like a diet Mewtwo deck. It's definitely sorta broken if you know how to run it right with Erika
11:40 if you’re talking Exeggutor ex, and earlier about making Butterfree, im actually running a deck similiar to Venusaur ex, but with that exeggutor ex and butterfree so you can start hitting heavy real fast. Realistically, you dont often need to heal a lot at once, just a bit over time. Running 2 Butterfree plus 2 erikas (and only one potion in my deck, cause i dont wanna use the tickets for a second potion card yet lol), you can heal the normal hits easy with Butterfrees ability, and save the erikas for the one or two times you need a little more oomf in you heals. Caterpie x2 Metapod x2 Butterfree x2 Exeggcute x2 Exxegutor ex x2 Potion x1 Red Card x1 (you’ll probabky want to sub this for a second potion, this is just what i have atm) Pokeball x1 X Speed x1 Erika x2 Giovanni x1 Sabrina x1 Professers Research x2
for dark type, i love using wheezing - muk - aerodactyl/ snorlax + Koga combo. you use gas leak for wheezing, and finish the enemy off with venoshock. one downside however, is that it has a quite high retreat energy requirements (hence the koga play). but it's really fun either way, since if one of the dark type pokemon is in the grave, then you can play the aerodactyl. I use this combo for my friend, and i got 3 heads for the aerodactyl, making my friend not able to win (since he had a bad card too)
8:06 I would like to note, Venusaur EX almost always loses to Nidos from what I've seen. Bc of how long both decks take to set up, you give Nidos the advantage, as they can just output more damage than Venusaur. If you are playing Venusaur, you want to take out the Nidoran♀️ line as fast as possible, as once a full set up Nidoqueen is on the field, you are toast, as it can output 180 damage a turn with both Bench Nidokings
I’ve been having a lot of success with a butterfree deck. I run 2 cat, 1 met, 1 but, 2 exe, 1 Exeg ex, 1 exeg, 2 pet, 2 lill, 2 pokeball, 2 prof Re, 2 erika, 1 gio, 1 sabrina. I just set up a bench and use lil to move energy everywhere. My endgame goal is to have a butterfree on the bench with executer ex attacking with Erica healing.
Butterfree is great, pika is great, greninja is great, I haven’t tried anything else yet but I can easily rack up 5 wins in a row or more with any of these three.
Hey purple, big fan, Venusaur is my main deck and I absolutely love I run 2 of venusaur line, butter free line, and liligant line. This deck is so fun and do pretty well with it. They key here is liligant wich you can use to stall and set up Venusaur. Liligant lets you attach an energy to a bench pokemon, which is perfect to give you bulba two energy per turn to set up and even if you get Caterpie in the beginning he’s perfect for card draw, by the end I’m usually healing 50 damage every turn with butter free and Venusaur. This is with running no Erica (don’t have any). But still really great deck
I tried doing a Water/Psychic deck and got 13 psychic energy in a row before getting 1 water. If the odds to get one of two energies is 50/50, than the odds to get 13 of 1 type in a row is a 0.0001221% chance
Honestly, I like PikachuEX/Eelektross. Haven’t used it against actual people yet, but helped me a bunch during the Lapras EX event. It felt so good going second and immediately knocking out a Staryu with Tynamo. Also was really easy to get Eelektross, but if I didn’t I typically did just fine with Eelektrik since that attack also required just one energy.
The best Mewtwo deck out right now (and debatably the best in general) uses one base Mewtwo to tank hits or switch into a Sabrina. It also does a lot of damage if you get desperate.
@purplecliffe i have found tenticruel and frostmoth work best with dragonite. even using the energies on them and delaying your dragonite is fine as tenticreul can force switches through tick damage and frostmoth can stall with sleep. running misty also helps. my decklist for it is 2x dragonite line, 2x snom line, 2x tenticle line, 2x pokeball, 2x misty, 2x sabrina, 2x professor oak, givonni and a red card. this deck holds my most wins at 27-5
Regarding the Venu and Butterfree deck, yes, I got it to work and it's the funny watching the enemy deal damage and just attack for 30 heal, erika for 50, 2 butterfree for 40, and if no more erika, just use potion for 20 more heal. Yes, it was in fact the longest game I played HAHAHAHA Edit: Yes I run the venue deck with egxecutor as well Edit again: For the blastoise deck, try running it with a snorlax (to tank damage) if you aren't confident with your misty so you can build up the energy needed for big man blastoise
I really love the venasaur deck, but I play with liligant, attack with the lilligant while powering up the venasaur in the back. You get two energies per turn, really good I think
You gotta try Gengar EX! The ability to not let your opponent to use Trainer cards is so fun to have. Couple that with Weezing-Koga or even Hypno, you’ll be super annoying
"It's easier to get the Lapras ex" Yeah, you just got to wait and see if the event repeats down the line, now X'D That or see if people have any to trade when that gets implemented. Also 'easier' to a degree, I ended up with so many damn Mankey, Pikachu, and Clefairy, and out of some 30ish games, got 4 Lapras by the end of it. That all aside, my main deck's been Mewtwo ex since it's the most 'complete'. I can't run Pikachu due to only having one copy, Charizard needs some retuning (only earlier on got a Moltres ex), and Articuno ex is good when Misty wants to work :P
Hello Purplecliffe, I have watched all your videos with my sister since we were 7 years old and we like them a lot. You have always made me laugh with them.
As someone who runs a Marowak Ex deck most of the time, there's a reason why I run machamp and a Clefable Ex with it. It's just ass a lot of the time. Then there's 5% of the time when it just destroys the opponent
Groomer and muck is also good with the wheezing deck because you can poison with wheezing then switch out of muk 120 because it’s poisoned. Muk does 50 more damage if the active Pokémon is poisoned.
I made a Persian, Aerodactyl deck, finally got the win without knocking out a single pokemon. Got really lucky with coin flips, Persian put a LaprasEX and ArticunoEX into the discard, and Aerodactyl put their Lapras and Butterfree back into the deck for the win
35:38 in comparison to the irl trainers, yes they are bad but as card games go, the trainers are really good. Hell professors research is literally pot of greed and that card is banned!
I personally love playing exeggutor ex with butterfly. Exeggutor ex does 40/80 for 1 energy with 160 hp so you don't need to have a separate pokemon for set up
There are some decks you are definitely missing in terms of viability, at least over the nidoking/nidoqueen deck. The two off the top of my head are Blaine deck w/rapidash and Ninetales. And Arbok and pidgeot
Try Weezing + Koga + Muk, it's a pretty easy 150 damage with low downside, and Koga allows you to freely reset the Weezing's HP pool. I also run Arbok to restrain Pokemon and keep them in the active slot for the extra poison damage. This build DEMOLISHES Mewtwo Gardi builds, at least in my experience.
This is weird and probably dumb, but I actually tried a dark deck with one set of butter free line, that does decently well. I don’t get grass energies so butterfree is just a bench Mon/fodder if it has to be active, and it’s pretty mon heavy compared to these. But it’s helpful to either keep the nidos alive/swap and heal weezings while chipping, Also, if caterpie ends up being the only one out, you can search out its evos with its attack since they’re the only grass mons in the deck.
I just came here to say I got the 3 gold star pikachu ex card on a random single pack at level 6 at 6:09 am while sitting on the toilet. And the fact that I spun the packs and decided to choose the pack to the left of the one I was going to choose first.... I also tilted the cards to see if I was getting something special and because I don't know much about the borders, I thought I was getting a 1 gold star card. I was speechless watching the animation.
I tried venusaur, butterfree and victribell... I loved using heals from butterfree and fake Sabrina with Vic and just deal damage with Venu... It became my favourite deck
a support for venesaur ex is liligant, for two energys u do 50 damage and charge a grass type pokemon in your bench, this way u can hace venesaur ready much faster
You can probably pair Charizsed with Gardavior, Charizard needs 2 fire energy and 2 colourless energy. Let’s say you end up attaching 4 fire energy and use its attack which discards 2 fire energy. By using gardavior’s ability to attach one psychic energy and attaching a fire energy for turn, you can use charizards attack again, and so on
I don't think Umbreon will get an ex since the other eeveeloutions aren't. But most Tyranitar cards are dark so he has the most potential for a dark ex.
Already got my Mewtwo/Gard Deck done. That deck has caused a lot of people to forfeit. All I need to do now is get another EX Charizard (after I got 1 this morning) & 2 Moltres for another Deck.
I've been playing for three days and somehow, don't ask me how, I got TWO Charizard EX alternative artwork as well as TWO Moltres EX. I have everything I need for the Charizard Moltres meta deck. It's crazy!
got the venusaur work together with butterfree and executor, executor ex is to do easy early game damage while you set up everything else, and once you do, it's gg, you easily beat charizards and mewtwos, the only problems i got were against arcanine ex and starmie
I love playing my deck that only has a magikarp, you would not believe how much setting up people are willing to do to 1 hit win a singular 30hp magikarp with electric, fire, and grass energy attached to it, if they take too long I mess with them with the cards or splash them for like 10 dmg
8:07 I got it to work. I use Venusaur EX, Butterfree, and Victree Bell because I LOVE it's ability. I have other mons as my personal add ons but those are the main three (then pokeballs, oaks, grass supporter, sabrina)
I actually got venusaur and butterfree to work. You sacrafice a snorlax at the beginning to set them both up and you have an unkillable venusaur ex (Exept if the opponent has fire)
I’ve been playing TCG pocket and I think I’ve had by far the funniest battle I will ever have already I was running a fighting deck and I was using Dugtrio, with Dig, with it I can flip to avoid taking damage that next battle and I not only was winning using Dig (which does 40 damage), but I also made them rage quit because I got like 7-8 heads in a row and kept avoiding damage
Arbok, weezing and muk. Weezing poisons them and then muk comes in and does 120 damage. Arbok does 60 damage and they cant retreat. Ive had alot of success with the arbok deck.

Purplecliffe you should try the Weezing Arbok deck if you like Weezing Wigglytuff!!
Cliffe: i really wish there was a card that could do 20 damage to the bench....
ME: GRENINJA would like a word..
i love using a dragonite deck lol, it takes a while to setup but it's so funny to kill like 3 mons at once once he's there lmao
The best Mewtwo deck out right now (and debatably the best in general) uses one base Mewtwo to tank hits or switch into a Sabrina. It also does a lot of damage if you get desperate.
13:52 Twink Pikachu 😂 I'm dead
@purplecliffe i have found tenticruel and frostmoth work best with dragonite. even using the energies on them and delaying your dragonite is fine as tenticreul can force switches through tick damage and frostmoth can stall with sleep. running misty also helps. my decklist for it is 2x dragonite line, 2x snom line, 2x tenticle line, 2x pokeball, 2x misty, 2x sabrina, 2x professor oak, givonni and a red card. this deck holds my most wins at 27-5
If you had the luck's, hitting heads after they have spent their sabrinas with a 10HP Dugtrio feels sooo damn good :3
My favorite deck is Dragonite Pidgeot. Pidgeot has a built-in Sabrina that can be used once per turn.
If you could, could you send me what it consists of?
@Bono-dn5oz 2 sets of Dragonite line and Pidgeot line, 2 pokeball, 2 oak, 2 potions, then I use red card and a X speed.
@ Tnx, I appreciate it
Regarding the Venu and Butterfree deck, yes, I got it to work and it's the funny watching the enemy deal damage and just attack for 30 heal, erika for 50, 2 butterfree for 40, and if no more erika, just use potion for 20 more heal. Yes, it was in fact the longest game I played HAHAHAHA
Edit: Yes I run the venue deck with egxecutor as well
Edit again: For the blastoise deck, try running it with a snorlax (to tank damage) if you aren't confident with your misty so you can build up the energy needed for big man blastoise
Purplecliffe: Osteoporosis. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also Purplecliffe: You can slam a Gardevoir--pause--. 😑😑😑😑
8:06 I got that to work I don’t even have a Venusaur ex and it still is super broken the only downside is searching for it
Same! I got EXs and so many decks can’t hit through it. And even if you get caterpie in your active spot you get a free draw of a grass type card
"It's easier to get the Lapras ex"
Yeah, you just got to wait and see if the event repeats down the line, now X'D That or see if people have any to trade when that gets implemented. Also 'easier' to a degree, I ended up with so many damn Mankey, Pikachu, and Clefairy, and out of some 30ish games, got 4 Lapras by the end of it.
That all aside, my main deck's been Mewtwo ex since it's the most 'complete'. I can't run Pikachu due to only having one copy, Charizard needs some retuning (only earlier on got a Moltres ex), and Articuno ex is good when Misty wants to work :P
w00 that was a blast seeing all your decks
Hello Purplecliffe, I have watched all your videos with my sister since we were 7 years old and we like them a lot. You have always made me laugh with them.
That Charizard match was just back and forth of hype and mad lol
The way you've changed the thumbnail at least 3 times in the last 24 hours is crazy😭😭😭
With the butterfree question you had, I played it with Lilligent and that works about 60% of the time for me
YESSSS, MORE POKEMON POCKET LETS GOOOOO. i love watching jack play the tcg
Didn‘t know about that 2x Xspeed.. thats nuts😂
The fact that Volkin isnt in the description is a crime
I personally love playing exeggutor ex with butterfly. Exeggutor ex does 40/80 for 1 energy with 160 hp so you don't need to have a separate pokemon for set up
This game might get me back into the physical TCG since I quit at the end of the Sun and Moon era
There are some decks you are definitely missing in terms of viability, at least over the nidoking/nidoqueen deck. The two off the top of my head are Blaine deck w/rapidash and Ninetales. And Arbok and pidgeot
Love the eevee art in the background
Using Weezing, Farfetched and Dragonite is such a fun deck
I like to run lilligant with the Venasaur deck, it allows you to get energy on your Venasaur a lot faster and it's solid damage
"You can get the Lapras Ex-"
Event ended before you could post the video xD
Try Weezing + Koga + Muk, it's a pretty easy 150 damage with low downside, and Koga allows you to freely reset the Weezing's HP pool. I also run Arbok to restrain Pokemon and keep them in the active slot for the extra poison damage. This build DEMOLISHES Mewtwo Gardi builds, at least in my experience.
Great vid
I make my own most of the time, and I currently have been playing a Gengar deck, and it is amazing Gengar in Pokemon TCG pocket is so underrated
Idk if yk this but you can add up to 3 energies per deck, so you could have both dark and grass/bug.
I love this game, I'm running a Weezing Arbok deck and having so much fun
You can probably pair Charizsed with Gardavior, Charizard needs 2 fire energy and 2 colourless energy. Let’s say you end up attaching 4 fire energy and use its attack which discards 2 fire energy. By using gardavior’s ability to attach one psychic energy and attaching a fire energy for turn, you can use charizards attack again, and so on
Wait wtf is this genius
Nope u can only add it to a psychic Pokemon in active spot l
@ Nooooooo…..
I'm guessing the next decks will be Johto themed and we'll get some dark and metal ex cards like Umbreon and Scizor. Can't wait!
Putting Butterfree in a deck with any rlly good basic mon can work imo
I've been playing for three days and somehow, don't ask me how, I got TWO Charizard EX alternative artwork as well as TWO Moltres EX. I have everything I need for the Charizard Moltres meta deck. It's crazy!
got the venusaur work together with butterfree and executor, executor ex is to do easy early game damage while you set up everything else, and once you do, it's gg, you easily beat charizards and mewtwos, the only problems i got were against arcanine ex and starmie
Grapaloct is my favorite fighting card, love it
Why is no one talking about the Greninja Bruxish combo? It beats everything even Mewtwo decks!
Dude my first 10 packs I got 2 Venusaur's EX's and got Butterfree from the lapros event promo. That deck is so broken and fun to play
I play the mewtwo/gardevoir deck with Hypno cause of how OP sleep is 😩 but now I gotta try out this weezing deck
Broo for Venusaur try using Liligant so that you could set up the Venusaur faster
I found it funny when he said he hates the coinflip cards but I made a deck that's mostly coinflips xD
I played a water mirror, we both lost every coin flip but the first. Also, had a 6 prize card game. Dropped an EX, then dropped 2 EX in one turn.
I actually got venusaur and butterfree to work. You sacrafice a snorlax at the beginning to set them both up and you have an unkillable venusaur ex
(Exept if the opponent has fire)
I’ve been playing TCG pocket and I think I’ve had by far the funniest battle I will ever have already
I was running a fighting deck and I was using Dugtrio, with Dig, with it I can flip to avoid taking damage that next battle and I not only was winning using Dig (which does 40 damage), but I also made them rage quit because I got like 7-8 heads in a row and kept avoiding damage
Arbok, weezing and muk. Weezing poisons them and then muk comes in and does 120 damage. Arbok does 60 damage and they cant retreat. Ive had alot of success with the arbok deck.
centiskorch wrecks the pikachu deck!!! always roasting the rat!!!
If you switch the diglet line with a zubat line you get meta coverage
