Motorola's latest G series phone is an update to the G53 5G... and (spoiler) it's a much better phone.

One BIG plus with the 54g sold in AU is that it has an eSim slot which at this price point makes it a great spare or travel phone.
I bought this phone for work to use around because of battery life I only use it for 8 hours day n get 2 half or 3 days use on single charge it crazy ....can say it smooth like flagship phone as my Samsung s22...
Smooth in performance? Also how is the screen?
So we have the Moto g power on the US for 300 but I got it on a deal for 99 dollars .. I think it's good.. I've been using the 79 dollar Moto g stylus 4g .. and seriously it's ok too .. truly budget but they work pretty well both of them .. the cameras on the Moto g stylus are pretty good too.. the updates though are ridiculous and they only give one update it's ridiculous

Great review. Thanks
Muy buena su exposición y descripción de su equipo
Thank you - great review!
Is this phone supports VOLTE Australia on Lebara network?
Thanks Useful review
Do you know if this phone runs well on the Pokémon go app please? 😊
Excelente información 👍🏻
Thanks a lot for your in depth review! Considering the update situation, how long would you think one can use this phone?
Depends (as always) on what you're using it for. A 2-3 year lifespan in terms of overall security should be generally OK, beyond that it would start being a more risky prospect for services like online banking or shopping or similar.
Unlike iOS, Android is made from a core (Android 13), which is updated only with the new versions or a security update, and all the add-ons like Google Play, Chrome, etc are updated forever or until the core is declared obsolete.
Thank you!❤😊
Thanks for review I'm about to get one for my teenage son who doesn't want new phone 😂 as he prefers to play games on computer. The sale price recently $249 and I might get another 10% discount if I bought from Big W. 😊
Youre a great father!
Can you talk about the eSim in this please? I need two SIMs plus an SD card. How do I use the eSIM???
Hi! I've been reading lots of other reviews suggesting there is an overheating issue within 1-2hrs of use of the phone - can you verify if that's the case?
That certainly wasn't an issue that I hit while I was reviewing it!
Not a problem for me neither
Never any overheating on my G54

Has this Phone got the NFC Payments and also can I us this In t
America.
For The Australian model, yes, it's NFC equipped. Should work on most US networks (though as, like most Australian 5G phones it's sub-6Ghz for 5G, not any US mmWave parts of networks) but as I've not taken one to the US, that's largely just based on the specs. There's no reason it shouldn't, though.
I just bought this unit yesterday.. but i find the screen is a little bit stuttered. Do you know how to fix this issue?
How do you mean stuttered ?

Unfortunately, I have yet to see the focusing problem when zooming highlighted anywhere in any review. I understand that zoom is almost unusable with such a camera, but up to 2x is sometimes tolerable. The camera is unable to focus in some more complicated scene: ua-cam.com/users/shortsVnFio4f0a6E
I've already reported the situation to support, so hopefully they'll resolve it somehow soon!

Muy bueno el teléfono Motorola y una marca espectacular
Excelente notificación 🇻🇪👍
Android 14 kab aayega??
Is there a fingerprint sensor too on the screen? How do you rate security features particularly in regards to online banking?
No in-display fingerprint reader, just the one on the side (not uncommon at this price point). Security right now is fine, Moto doesn't add anything specific here beyond what's in Android. Only concern there would be the lesser number of Android updates only up to Android 14, though that would depend on how long you were planning to use it for.
@@AlexKidman While it does only get the one update to Android 14 that's just a feature issue, the important thing is it gets security updates till September 2026
@@AlexKidman Moto has thinkshield which is an improvement over stock android security wise
is the Samsung a15 5g better or not as good i know ram only 4gb but it's 100 more in aus do you no why thanks
I haven't tested the A15 as yet -- it's often tricky getting hold of budget Samsung Android phones for testing, lowest down that range I've gone is the A35 (ua-cam.com/video/B44x3Q1-DSc/v-deo.html). As for pricing, that's up to Samsung, but realistically the A15 is a *touch* newer (by a few months) and phone prices tend to drop over time, which may well be part of it.
Exelente equipo muy buenos
Me encanta excelente equipo
Have u checked out the g64? It has a strong processor - the dimensity 7020. Pls make a video on it
No sign of the G64 in Australia (yet)... but I'll be chasing it if they announce it for local distribution. Think it's the Dimensity 7025 under the hood (and it'd be the first 7025 locally I think, so an interesting comparison in its own right).

Would love to hear your thoughts on this vs the Oppo A78 4G, which has the same RRP in Australia, but prioritise slightly different things for the price. Great video!
I... would love to be able to do so. Unfortunately, Oppo will not loan me review devices at all at the moment (they're not happy that I reviewed prior loan devices and didn't give them glowing reviews; the point of a review is that it's warts and all) so they won't even send me details of new devices as they're released. As such, I can't recommend the brand -- not because they're no good, but because if they don't have faith in an independent and fair review process, why should consumers have faith in them?
@@AlexKidman If that is all true then shame on OPPO. I'm glad I ordered my g54 before I saw this comment.
@@colossaloverlord2678 Absolutely true at the time; Oppo has since softened its stance so I've reviewed some slightly more current fare -- the Reno11 F 5G most recently (ua-cam.com/video/VBPcmdI2FrQ/v-deo.html) -- but sadly not the A78 4G, so I can't comment on that one. Their call, their consequences.

Great review...thank you. One question...what is the main concern with the ability to only complete one software update...I know that there won't be any more bug fixes, etc., but the phone will still be completely usable for the lifetime of the phone, for which I am hoping it will last for many years, as I am a light phone user. Can you please tell me if the phone may stop functioning at some point due to the lack of software updates or is this simply that you won't have future bug fixes, improvements, etc.? I am pretty green when it comes to this particular area. Thanks, again. 🙂
Thanks for the positive feedback. The issues with software and security updates aren't so much to do with the whole phone stopping working at a software level (though there are no guarantees, some apps might require specific versions or security patches, etc), and only really partially around new features. On the OS upgrade side, there's often a level of optimisation in newer code that can (again, not guaranteed) lead to slight performance improvements, but it's the security updates that (I feel) are critical, given how much many of us live our lives on phones these days -- for functions like banking, or medical issues, or just the privacy of our communications. Android is a big and widely attacked platform and having a less secure phone is not a great idea. Of course, the level of severity for that does depend on what you use the phone for, your own tolerance for risk and so on.
@@AlexKidman Thank you. That makes a lot more sense to me now. God bless. 🙂
Been using this phone for a month, the battery life is great I use it throughout the day and can last nearly 2 days. The camera is really bugging me though, i don't like the quality, some focusing issues. Sometimes maps won't zoom or turn direction, sometimes fixed by closing the app and opening again. The other thing I noticed is it's started lagging, esp with some games and apps, tho I realize it might be an issue with the given app, idk Im missing my old phone 😢
put g cam on it
what is g cam?@@subwooferroads
How is the smartphone now? I intend to buy, do you recommend it?
@@sobreviventemoderno4176 I actually got used to it and enjoying it a lot more. The camera is not bad, idk why it struggled to focus before. I still experience issues with zooming and orientation of maps sometimes, haven't figured out why it happens. It's a good phone overall tho, I'm not complaining ✌️🙂
Благодаря, поздрави! :)
Muy buena explicacion
Thank you
Would you recommend this an upgrade from the redmi note 10 pro. Had the redmi since 2022.
Sadly couldn't say -- Redmi doesn't sell in Australia so I've not tested that.
Is the 5G of this phone only data, or is it Vo5G (Voice over - similar idea to VoLTE)???

Currently using iPhone 15 and since iphone 8 every phone that i have used samsungs, apple, honor i have had eye strain and recently i been reading about effects of oled which while superior tech in certain aspects but a great downside is that its messing your eyes without people knwoing i will add that lcd also isn't perfect but better than oled by most studies so i purchased this lets see what effects or any better
Any news?

What is Motorolas high end non foldable phone?
Locally (they may well have other offerings in other markets) that'd be either the ThinkPhone (ua-cam.com/video/FPFNBZboKY4/v-deo.htmlsi=yaStJ2AnM3Rk_66U) or the Edge 40 (ua-cam.com/video/3JXjEQpEJlI/v-deo.htmlsi=Ocpk3EQCRb5frB6Q) currently.
Buenísimo ❤
Es un teléfono muy completo y demasiado bueno
For this money. Which phones would have a better camera? Are oppo a58 a78 any good? Thanks
So, unfortunately I can't comment on Oppo phones, because they don't have enough confidence in their phones to supply them for independent review -- and as such I can't recommend them if I can't test them! At this price point though, you're talking general compromises all the way, and the G54 5G, while not "great" in a camera sense, is amongst the better pile. Nokias at this price point I've generally found shoot a little worse, might also be worth considering what Samsung has in this lower priced space.
This one would probably be better. Oppo phones are more expensive with lesser features at least in India
Me encanta esa marca de teléfono
Me encanta este Motorola
Excelente el teléfono
Muy interesante

If you have a chance to buy this phone really cheap,
like here in the UK for £149,
It's an amazing phone for the price.
With the right settings and the normal using
(like not 100 apps running
in the background)
and the realistic expectations,
because it's a budget phone and not the ultimate ultra cutting-edge flagship.
But for this price category,
I can't say anything bad about this item, apart from the old android version (13 from 2022),
and Motorola has promised just two major system updates,
so up to android 15.
Some sources say just one,
some other sources say two.
But it has everything you can expect from this price category.
A decent processor,
on some markets MT Dimensity 7020, on the others MT Dimensity 930, which is just an older version of the 7020 with the same parameters.
But 8GB/256GB,
up to 1TB micro SD card support,
NFC, the headphone jack,
and a clean Android,
without any bloatware,
as the cheap phones elsewhere.
Even the speakers are not so bad.
So for someone on budget,
or as a spare phone, like for my 75 years old mum to her main phone,
the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G,
is absolutely fine.
I'm even thinking about buying the next one for myself, too.
Me gusta el teléfono es muy bueno
Me parece muy bien
Exelente 👍
My layman's view on Android upgrades: every next Android version isn't necessarily optimized for hardware you bought three, two or even one year ago. So it can be that getting newer Android on older phone you obtain some new functionality (can be or may not be worthy) and potentially, slower operation on your particular model. To me Android upgrades seem like megapixels - sound like necessity, but as long as phone works, it's OK.
You're describing Samsung lol. Sorry sammy fans but your company is the number one when it comes to bloat lmao.
Former Samsung user here.
El Teléfono Motorola Son Los Más Buenos ❤❤
Motorola en buen equipo
Muy buen equipo
Camera is so so (zoomed in too much), sound (via Bluetooth) is so so (not enough oomph) and the screen has a noticeably yellow tint compared to my old Xperia XA2 (which also sports an IPS panel). If Moto fixes that, I'd consider this (or the G55) the *perfect* budget phone. Other than that though, it's super snappy in opening apps and that surprised me. Everything is running absolutely butter smooth. Gaming might not be the best, but I dont play game son my phone. 8 gigs of ram / 256 gb of storage is amazing at this price point I gotta say.
I bought the Moto G 24, I still did not open so I can return it, but I only use the phone for photos, spotify, whatsapp and insta, face, etc. I supposse the camara is also going to be average, I read the G54 camera is even better from G24 but I got it for 130 euros, but now there is an offer G54 for 150 euros, every time I see a reduced price I am increasing my budget, i wanted to spend only 100 euros around
Very good
It's beautifull

Mi hermana tiene este móvil y a las dos horas de eso empezó a recalentar
Was close to jumping the gun for this but until this day, the existence and regional restriction of the G54 Power still bothers me. Smh.
