I have been taking out the rear magnets and leaving the middle ones. Then using Paul Guage urethane but mostly the Slot Invasion rear tires. It seems that has been the most consistent handling for my 1/24 scale Carrera cars. I need to revisit taking out the middle magnets. I also use Slot Invasion guides.
Little off topic, but do you break your motors in by running them is water, WD40 or water/alcohol mixture like I see some others do to shape the brushes?
No, I did not do that. I have heard of that and with others that have it done it have actually made the motors slower from what I was told of the guys that have done it. Best to oil them and run them.

I would remove the other magnet and give it a try
