You made progress, that's the important thing. It'll get finished soon enough!
Yes sir
Brock, I think your best approach to the vegetation solution in your Rock driveway would be to control it with Roundup or a comparable product. Usually an application 3 times during the growing season is sufficient. It would not be in contact with a food product and would work very well.
I'm still confused on rock types and grades for driveway/paths.
My local quarry is some grumpy old guys that expect you to know what you need, and they charged me $20/ton for a full load of road base (gravel/sand/stone mix) when 2 years ago it was $13, and I have no basis for comparison!
Maybe a more in depth video on pros/cons of this?
Yup... that sounds like stone quarry workers. You're in the right place! - - At least you're smart enough to not pay $50 for a 40 pound bag at a big box store! Prices have definitely gone up. Gas is more, machines (trucks/trailers) are more, employee's are more.... $20 a ton sounds about right. Here I think it's $22-24 a ton.
Loving your content! Helps me start my day
Nice! I think the place geotextile shines is in really soft areas that just seem to soak up the gravel. I haven't used it to cover entire driveways, but I have salvaged some soft spots by covering the area with geo and then gravel. It has worked well for me using it that way...
Hi Brock, I like your videos and I am very proud of you for getting started doing what you enjoy doing and being able to earn a living doing it. I appreciate your determination and work ethics. I am an 86 year old man who spent the biggest part of my working life being self employed. I didn’t set out to be self employed it evolved over the years and I have no regrets. Continue doing what you enjoy doing, and give God credit for everything he blesses you with.
Congratulations from Oklahoma.
Thank you for the encouragement
LOVE your shirt!!!
Sure looks purdy with fresh gravel!

@@RockhillfarmYT You always have informative videos to watch... I like the driveway and skid steer videos!
Howdy Brock! Yeah I got a buddy that ended up adding that geotextile fabric to some of his driveway area. It would get mushy and the soft ground would eat the stone. So he put some fabric down to help hold the stone and so far it has worked great. It is most effective if you have a good 4 or 5 inches of stone over it. Good stuff - thanks for sharing 🤠
Take some pointers from Chris @ Let's Dig 18. He's the real master at this & always uses a skid steer. His work is masterful & can look like a giant surface plate when done.
Nicely done, it looks great 👍
I try to back drag with the skid steer bucket in float to finish, it's worked well. How does the float on the compact tractor bucket compare, do they have one?
Yeah, float on the tractor is really easy and works well
geotextile is primarily a structural reinforcement of the soil. when you press down on it with a tire, it pulls the fabric in all directions, but the weight of the rock around it holds it back, so it spreads the load of your tire out quite a bit. its often not buried deep enough to justify using it though. going on memory it needs to be something like >6" below grade to be an effective structural element
I think the geotextile is the best in wet areas or areas that you will lose your rock
Why not use Roundup or a vinegar mixture to kill the weeds? I use that in my driveway and it does a great job.
I normally try to do that where I have rock
Not to sound negative but why didn't you use the dump trailer.
Gross! Your were wearing that same shirt yesterday! Jk! 😅 Really nice job drop spreading! Very even.
Would it have been quicker to load your dump trailer with the skid steer and then dump it all at once then spread it.
I saw this on so many american yt channels, a little trailer would help a lot in transfering materials. Until you try one, you will punching yourself in the head with time lost and productivity...
Brock spread some rock..
👀
You shouldn’t be rutting up the driveway turning on a skid steer when turning.
Im not a fan of geotextile. Screws things up when you start to get potholes and you need to drag the box blade rippers to break it up plus my driveway is over a half mile long so it would have cost a fortune. Only spots I have any vegetation is where I skimped on rock.
You won’t get potholes with geotextile
