When i was 12 years old i had started my first club practice ever (vb). Next thing i knew i was on the floor, i had dislocated my knee cap. it was on the other side of my leg. It made me devoted to volleyball and it taught me to never give up
I know I’m like so late, but I’ve had that experience too!! I’ve dislocated both my kneecaps 3 times. Ik what it’s like, great job hanging in there :)) 😊
I ended my senior year in high school volleyball 5 games early due to a severe ankle injury. Its so hard watching your team play without you but it teaches you a lot about how important it is to be a vocal leader off the court as well as on the court. Love this story!
This reminded me of my volleyball idol Ara Galang. She injured her left knee with a tore MCL, ACL, big bone bruise and another injury that I forgot. She came back after 8 months and played volleyball like nothing happened. Like she was not injured before. And I admire her for that. She became my inspiration. I see her as a fighter, as someone who does not settle with just one win, she always wants the championship.
I ended my freshman year without even playing a game because of an acl tear. I’m going through PT now and going to keep fighting. I won’t give up and will keep fighting. I remember watching this a couple year back and never thought it would happen to me but im gonna go back stronger🙏🏽
Having injured my knee a few years back and still having pain today I understood what she went through completely. Thankfully, I escaped with no surgery. I still play volleyball, but I am not part of a team which I miss. Never take anything for granted and if you ever get injured, please take great care of your body. If you feel any pain, stop, it doesn't make you weak.
Watching that fall just brings my own memories to the surface. In '87 when playing at state softball tournament, I had a good line drive to left center, headed towards the fence, but after rounding first, I don't know what happened but the next thing I knew, I was on my back in more pain than I've ever known. I tore the ACL, MCL, and meniscus. I've had 8 surgeries on that knee, 3 were reconstructions but I kept tearing the graft so now I have a total replacement and while it's not the same, I wish I could have played longer than what I did.
Survivrs OMG HOW ARE YOU NOW? DOES IT HURT STILL!? I hope your ok. They worst thing I have ever done is dislocate my middle finger. I had the wraps rn cast thingy around it at school and everyone thought I was flipping everyone off😂 it was funny. But that bad thing is. I hated gym in elementary school. And when I had that injury we played kickball that whole time. So I couldn’t sit out for anything 😩 (btw, that is my ONLY injury ever)
This is an inspirational video to me because I play volleyball and sometimes I get hurt but this shows that on that court there can be a lot worse injuries that can happen to any of us
Such an inspiration. I’m a senior and captain of my team. Months I’ve worked so hard to push myself and the whole team to our limits for us to win and get back up on track but suddenly I got injured in our first game and I was rush to the hospital and had xray on my left knee to see if I had a fracture and thank God I did’nt had but few days later I still can’t walk properly and stand straight because I feel like my knee is giving up so I had a check up to my ortho and had test on my knee if I have a acl injury or any ligament tear and he told I might have so he suggested me to have an MRI so they can be assured with their theory about my knee and I’m gonna under go MRI on 3 days hoping it’s not acl injury. My teammates are not just teammates for me but their like my brothers. I’m hoping to play maybe not now but soon! I need your prayers for good results on my MRI! 🤘🏻😭🙏🏻
A week before my senior volleyball season started, broke my sternum. I'm out of volleyball for my final season in high school volleyball. Never take your playing time for granted and neber complain about how much you play, because you never know when you could get hurt amd be out for the season.
I had three knee surgeries and I'm 12, it was from football. My first one was a bucket handle meniscus tear that tore completely in half and flipped, next one was a meniscus tear and scar tissue, now I'm recovering from surgery from October, I had another meniscus tear and a scar tissue and a micro fracture. I can never play a sport again, and have to get a knee replacement next year when I'm turning 14!!! Stay strong girl!! And NEVER GIVE UP!!!!
This takes me back to days of playing football at Staumbaugh stadium in high school and their at the guin. I tore my acl and pcl my junior and had to retire from Football also cuz of all my concussions. This is a heartwarming story. I'm proud of you.
I am currently 3 months post-op my surgery where I completely tore my left ACL. I play soccer and have since I was two. I’m a sophomore in high school. I am so eager to get back to playing. But having to sit on the bench for a while has taught me a new perspective on the game. That has shown me another way to see the field and what some players do well and what they need to work on.
I have to have surgery during club season right now and not kidding is I have cried every single practice every single tournament every single video I watch of my self because I just wanna be out on the court it really sucks not being out there with your team😩
Missy, if you read this or for any female with a devastating injury to the knee where the ACL, MCL, and the Meniscus are all torn, it is referred to as a O'Donoghue triad injury, and it's very common in female athletes. It was what all 3 of my reconstructive surgeons talked about. My last doctor not only did what the others did, he did an additional procedure on the lateral side of the knee, left me with a 9" scar sort of in the shape of a j. It's called the Losee Procedure. That was the first time since my injury that my knee felt as secure as it was before the injury 23 years prior.
i recently tore my ACL, MCL and PCL in my senior year of my high school volleyball career, ending any and all of my college ball dreams and making me miss out on all of my upcoming senior year:(
This definitely hits my heart. I was in my senior year in high school and we were playing our district game. Not even 3 minutes into the game, I rolled my ankle pretty bad while going up for a block. It took forever to recover. It sucks because little did I know, that would be my last game I ever played.
Damn, I know the feeling. I blew out my right knee in '87. I was an athlete playing softball, had just sent a high line drive to left center where those 2 outfielders were having to run to the fence to get the ball. After rounding first base, only a few steps towards 2nd, I found myself flat on the ground. The temperature on the field was 102 at the time. I couldn't move, and it was the most pain I have ever experienced. I took out the ACL, MCL, and Meniscus. I left my athletic abilities on that field that day. Three reconstructions, 2 scopes, 1 piece of hardware removed, a partial replacement and finally a total replacement. It sucks. I've collected immobilizers, custom braces, spent hours in therapy, been on crutches so many times....it sucks. I'm sorry this happened to a premier athlete like Missy.
It hurts to watch this because I Know her pain. I tore my ACL last year in January and went home crying everyday after sitting through practice every day. But to get back is the best feeling! I made it back for two games this season and it was one of the best feelings- it was so much to accomplish with a year of rehab and practicing for 8 months to slowly get back!
This year was my first year playing volleyball on a team and of course, I sprained my ankle and missed almost the whole season. It was hard since I was on the sidelines at practice and games and all I wanted to do was play. It was frustrating but you can’t do anything about it and I think Missy handled it well❤️ Great story.
This was my first year playing volleyball. I was really nervous that I would hurt myself whenever I started. And I did. I sprained my finger. I know it isnt as bad of an injury, but I understand the feeling of not being able to play with your team, its really heartbreaking.
I ended my senior year in high school with a severe ankle injury only having played one game. I was devastated but i love sports so much that i tried to play golf and found i was pretty decent at even after never having to have picked up a golf club. I could have had a scholarship for volleyball but thats life
I love volleyball and for a Jr. High team we are good we have 3 games and a tournament left but I can't play because of my ankle I step on my teammates foot when she was blocking me at practice. It was the worst pain I've ever felt but I have next year and all of high school. After seeing these I'm thinking wow it could be so much worse. I'm just glad it happened now instead of later in my volleyball career. All my teammates and coaches are really supportive and a lot of my teammates cried because I couldn't play.
I've been playing for 3 years and had a few injury's like a sprained ankle, few broken fingers but just found out I have tendonitis but I'm not stopping playing. I would not know what to do without my volleyball it's just such a huge part of my life now and it is in my everyday routine to go to practice and just work past this injury and just to push through
The surgeon/hospital/university that pioneers a ‘no setback, quick turn around’ for ACL injuries will make a lot of athletes and champions very happy. Too many young people with so much potential in so many sports across the globe are affected by these debilitating leg joint injuries. Good luck to those in rehab and recovering.
I am a senior and it was the start of basketball season and we were hoasting our annual Christmas classic basketball tournament. It was the first day of the tournament and I was going on a fast break no one covering me and as my teammate passes me the ball my right knee caves in and the next thing I know I was lying on the ground and heard a pop but I don't like to look weak in front of people so I got up to walk and it popped again causing me to fall again but my coach had caught me. I went the following week to a sports orthopedic when I got the worst news of my life especially for an athlete who's played since the age of 3 and never being severely hurt to keep me from playing. I play year round sports but main sport is softball and I'm the All star pitcher and all district utility player and to hear that I blew my ACL and slightly tore my lateral meniscus and that I would be out for 9 months and wouldn't be able to play any sports for the rest of my senior year took a toll on me I distanced myself from everyone, I gave up on myself, and hated life but I've come to realization that things happen for a reason and this isn't the end of my softball or sporting years this is just the start for new beginnings. And I'm proud to say that on the 30th of March I will have been in knee rehabilitation for 2 months and getting stronger each and everyday and I'm beyond ecstatic that I still have colleges interested in me playing for them so don't give up this is where your dreams begin so dream big and keep pushing forward ! This video inspired me when I was down ! But look at me now I couldn't be any happier with life than I am now.
This literally scares me so much like its my worst fear and I play volleyball too and we just got a new coach so everything is new basically and first day of proactive I broke my pinkie lol it’s not tragic I know lol but it hurt very bad witch makes me think how bad that had to hurt🤭it gives me goosebumps😬I feel so bad for her😰 but this is so inspiring to keep trying no matter what☺️😭
Never depend on jus one person no matter how good tht person is ....each player can reach their best, jus because one got hurt , you as a team shouldn’t doubt anyone or you’re self tht you guys can’t win or make it without them ... Those kind of injuries happened wen u land wrong or keep landing on one foot all the time And being a thick girl plays the part to
I tore my ACL during summer basketball, going into my senior year, at our very first camp of the season in warm ups. I went a month before having surgery because my first doctor sucked and I had to switch. I lost a lot of muscle because I was told not to walk, when really I needed to be in pre-physical therapy to get my motion back. I had surgery, and I’m in month 5 after post-op. I will hopefully be cleared to practice at the end of December which puts playing in a game at the end of January. Sadly that leaves me with one month of playing in games before the season is over. That’s IF I get cleared. It’s so hard to watch your team, especially when I was going to be one of the main players. I went through shit my junior year to get my spot and I finally got it and then I tore my ACL. Like her, I don’t know what the silver lining is yet, I don’t get why it happened to me, just because I worked so hard and was in the best shape ever doing basketball, weight classes, and kick boxing. I am going to every practice and game and being the best teammate I can, I just hope I get to go in for my senior night that would be amazing... I cried watching this because I know how it feels to not be playing your senior year... hopefully the silver lining is shown soon and that I get cleared to practice soon!!!
I am a volleyball player myself. I broke my ankle playing at a tournament and could not play for a long long time. It was really hard for me because I really wanted to play but I couldn't. I know how you feel. Once I finally recovered I was to scared to play because I felt like something bad was going to happen again. Of course I have had other minor injuries but I just kept on trying. I know you can't play anymore but just keep trying at anything you do. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m a middle hitter and I’ve always been, I remember this like it was yesterday, I ran up to hit a ball and my ankle just felt like it collapsed. I had to be carried off the floor and I couldn’t play for the rest of the season.....
Hi. My name is Alvana Dawkins n I have the same injury that Missy had. But am not fullly recovered. I'm from Jamaica. I know how the pain feel and i always want to get up and be back on the court again. I got my injury from I was in 3rd form in high school. I was playing Netball at that time but now I'm doing volleyball. I couldn't run because of my injury on knee. When I got the injury my knee pushes inward to my other foot. It was so painful. I've been doing alot of therapy and excerise. Everytime I played I try to be careful with it. If I Dodge it will hurt, but not like the first time. So it's like Everytime I hurt my knee I feel less pain. But the swollen is gonna be there. Now am taking a break from sports now. but it's so hard to do so. Everytime I saw a team playing volleyball I'm just so iggy to go play. But I can't.
i’m a very competitive fencer and i’ve been fencing for 7 years, fencing is my life and my everything. I tore my ACL and my meniscus in my left knee and i’m waiting for surgery. All my hard work with my ranking will slowly fade away :( i can’t fence for a year :(
I tore my MCL, I know it's not a very bad injury but still. I saw the injury Gernot Reinstadler expidrenced and that actually terrified me, I won't be going into downhill ski racing but I'm aiming to be in the ski flying world championship. Not sure why I said all that, maybe cause fear was relatable, although when professionally skiing, you can't think of the bad things that can happen, you gotta think to win.
I am 13 and have had a lot of knee issues in my right knee. I got surgery recently, and I know what it’s like. It’s terible to watch other people playing the sport that you love. The only people that get it are the people who have had this happen. It’s really hard.
I had the same injury in April. Still can’t play my sport handball. Actually this would be my last Highschool year. But of what happen I am really scared that this might happen again and i would have to go through the surgery and the hard hours at physiotherapy. I hope u can play in the future again without the fear 😔
There face at 12:34 😂😂 but this is so inspirational I’m love love LOVE volleyball but my main sport is softball bc softballs my passion but this is truly inspiring to all athletes
when i watched the part where she tore her knee, i start to cry, two years ago i tore my acl, mcl, both of my mencius, dislocated my kneecap, chipped off pieces of my femur and tibia, and many other things, i had 7 months of physical therapy, and i’m just now getting back to playing sports, but nothing’s the same, i can’t even walk normally, my muscle deteriorated so much after surgery that my thighs still aren’t the same size and it’s very noticeable, i have really bad osteoarthritis, and it acts up really bad after an especially hard practice to the point where i can’t put any weight on it, and it’s always hurting, it’s had such a mental and physical toll on me, and sometimes i cry myself to sleep because of it, i’ve already had 3 surgeries and i’m looking at my total knee replacement surgery when i’m in my early 20’s and i relive that day in my head all the time and think about how different my life could be if i wouldn’t have gotten hurt
i know how she feels i tore my left knee in soccer and i knew something was not right when i was started the game it is so hard to get over it but i did i played again and then i recently tore my acl in my right knee and i will never play again everyone do you acl prevention and do the workouts i will do something again i will play sports again
I tore my ACL last basketball season but this Volleyball season I'll be playing again. ACL tears suck but you'll get through it and if you're determined you'll play next year
I had knee surgery because part of my bone in my knee lost blood supply and died so I had to get the replaced and I haven't ran in 10 months and haven't played volleyball or softball in 2 years and it's crushing me but I will be able to play in 3 months so I'm happy
Ever since I tore my acl, I finally realised that I really wanted to play seriously... I was suppose to get my surgery in 9 weeks but because of the covid-19, it was delayed... And because of my age (17) and knowing that the corona might never go away soon, my hopes to becoming a volleyball player is quite low now... ugh I really regret going to that training session.
Xtxinx 3 weeks ago i fell while playing volleyball and I got deep bone bruise in my both knees. I can’t not take PT because of the covid -19. So I hope it’’ll over soon. Hopefully I don’t need surgery but I know that it will take a lot of time to recover my knees and turn back to my team. I hope you too turn back to play volleyball.
Asuman Demirel I hope you’re alright though! It kinda sucks when you have to stop playing for awhile but because of this virus, all sports have to stop anyways so it give you chance to heal up and get back on court once it all finishes. I wish you luck!!!
I did something like this with my right knee playing volleyball. I dislocated my knee, stretched some of my ligaments, and damaged my knee cap. I got surgery, I’m healed and can play volleyball but my knee doesn’t feel the same.
I’ve been in the same situation...I fell off my horse and got a concussion and almost broke my leg.. and I was very close to dying if my horse ran over me. I’m very scared to get back on.
@1:55 when you said soemthing didn't feel right, that was just like me. We were doing warm ups before the game and I told my friend my knee kind of feels weird.. and that game, 2nd game out of 3.. I dislocated my knee and that led me to surgery.
I hate injuries. They are the worst that can happen to an athlete. I’m a 13 year old soccer player. I have chondromalacia patella in my right knee. I love playing soccer, but i’m in so much pain. I’ve been at the doctor’s office and the hospital 6 times this year with my knee. And on monday, i’ll have to go to the hospital for the 7th time since january. I train on mondays, 2 times on wednesdays, thursdays and fridays. My 2nd game this year is tomorrow. I’m so f*cking nervous, bcz this morning, i couldn’t bend my knee. I HATE injuries. I’ll start Physical Therapy on monday. I’m hoping i can walk normal tomorrow🤞.
Oml this is sad but last week on my high school volleyball team we lost our second player in the last month the first player was the coach’s daughter and she was the best offensive and defensive player and she tore her right shoulder on both sides and it’s rly bad and then last Thursday we were playing a game against this school named Chapelle and she recieved the ball with her hands she was in the middle of the court and the setter set her outside and she hit it and came down on one foot like she normally does but this time the floor was a little wet with sweat and she’s a big girl but she’s really good offensively well anyway when she came down her knee and her whole leg like folded inward and gravity pulled her down back on it.. and she like sat on it and collapsed (we got the point) (the score was 24-24) she was screaming and whimpering so bad and all we could do was cry and pray as a team.. they called an ambulance but they took an hour to get there and they had to numb her knee so much so that they could pick her up and put her on the rolling thing to put her in the ambulance car and she went to the hospital that night and got an MRI and the next morning we got the results that she unfortunately tore her acl, mcl, lcl, both meniscus’s, and she blew her joint capsule.. she will be out for a year at least..
Abraham Lincoln I’m a freshman in hs , and I’ve been playing volleyball for 3 yrs and I dislocated my kneecap 4 weeks ago , I feel ready to go back but my doctor won’t let me so it’s killing me inside because the trainer who works at my school was about to let me play.
Zana Music DONT. I dislocated my knee during practice and kept playing until I finished practice. My knee my swollen and I had to sit out. When it happened in college, I played two games back to back and the next I wasn’t able to bend it, I could hardly walk. I ended up missing 2 volleyball games. Yeah, it suck, but it’s very important to allow it time to rest. Don’t be a dumbass like me 😂😂
When i was 12 years old i had started my first club practice ever (vb). Next thing i knew i was on the floor, i had dislocated my knee cap. it was on the other side of my leg. It made me devoted to volleyball and it taught me to never give up

You never know how much you really love a sport until u get hurt( torn acl and need surgery) and can’t play for about a year
I always loved my sports but now I miss them on a whole new level bc of my torn acl
Am waiting 4 surgery date 😓 torn acl, mcl&medial meniscus

I’m terrified to tear anything but the only sport that I’ll go thru it for is without out a doubt volleyball.

I couldn’t imagine how bad that felt it just makes me shake that that’s possible in something you love 😔
I've been playing for 3 years and had a few injury's like a sprained ankle, few broken fingers but just found out I have tendonitis but I'm not stopping playing. I would not know what to do without my volleyball it's just such a huge part of my life now and it is in my everyday routine to go to practice and just work past this injury and just to push through
YOU WILL MAKE IT GIRL❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ IM WITH YOU
@@trkrrkk2260 THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

2019 ???
Avocauto meee!!
Those kind of injuries happened wen u land wrong or keep landing on one foot all the time And being a thick girl plays the part to
tore my ACL and meniscus and I see this don’t know if I’m able to ever play again
just had my surgery for torn acl, mcl and meniscus six days ago. i’m going to miss my senior year of volleyball too :/
Amazing story!!😭😍
Triin Juurik fuck you
This came up in my recommended in 2020
Who’s watching this on October 7th 2019?
me 😳😂
My best friend tore her acl and her life is sports and my team has never been the same she is not only our point guard but the heart of our team
All my hard work with my ranking will slowly fade away :( i can’t fence for a year :(
She’s my idol now, my number is 14 just like her and i’ve had multiple injuries so yea she’s definitely my idol now
This is exactly happened with me . I am undergoing ACL reconstruction .This injury ruin my dreams.
I feel so bad for her❤️I hurt my neck and couldn't cheer or do anything for a while
I am 13 and have had a lot of knee issues in my right knee. I got surgery recently, and I know what it’s like. It’s terible to watch other people playing the sport that you love. The only people that get it are the people who have had this happen. It’s really hard.
Ouch this made my knee hurt
I had the same injury in April. Still can’t play my sport handball. Actually this would be my last Highschool year. But of what happen I am really scared that this might happen again and i would have to go through the surgery and the hard hours at physiotherapy. I hope u can play in the future again without the fear 😔
If I didn't have volleyball I'd be so sad everyday and I'd feel like my whole life is nothing..
GODBLESS YOU❤️✨💪🏻
in the thumbnail I thought she was wearing a prosthetic 💀
yee she was not lol. She was wearing a knee brace
me too.

Im so sorry for what you’ve been through!! How r u doing now?
i know how she feels i tore my left knee in soccer and i knew something was not right when i was started the game it is so hard to get over it but i did i played again and then i recently tore my acl in my right knee and i will never play again everyone do you acl prevention and do the workouts i will do something again i will play sports again
My aunt Julie Bush was a 5’2” setter for Youngstown state
I tore my ACL last basketball season but this Volleyball season I'll be playing again. ACL tears suck but you'll get through it and if you're determined you'll play next year
i just tore my acl and it ended my high school season and i won’t do club this year 😭😭
Sorry. Get well soon!
Going to join a team soon really hope this doesn’t happen to people especially if your doing this for your mental health.
I had knee surgery because part of my bone in my knee lost blood supply and died so I had to get the replaced and I haven't ran in 10 months and haven't played volleyball or softball in 2 years and it's crushing me but I will be able to play in 3 months so I'm happy
Who’s watching October 6th 2019!?
There's always one last something.
I understand her a lot cuz I dislocated my knee cap and it was hard for me because I played soccer and I just felt like a part of me was gone
Volleybal is life 😍
Happened to me in a basketball game and lemme tell you it hurts and the popping and buckle you feel is terrifying
I LOVE THIS VID
I tore my ACL also. I know how she feels
I did something like this with my right knee playing volleyball. I dislocated my knee, stretched some of my ligaments, and damaged my knee cap. I got surgery, I’m healed and can play volleyball but my knee doesn’t feel the same.
Arie’anna Ford i dislocated my knee too. can’t run or do tumbling the same. even going up the stairs is hard and i dislocated it a year ago
Who is watching this october 30th😂 (its the 5th)
Watching October 16th, 2019
I’ve been in the same situation...I fell off my horse and got a concussion and almost broke my leg.. and I was very close to dying if my horse ran over me. I’m very scared to get back on.
She won female athlete of the year there
@1:55 when you said soemthing didn't feel right, that was just like me. We were doing warm ups before the game and I told my friend my knee kind of feels weird.. and that game, 2nd game out of 3.. I dislocated my knee and that led me to surgery.
madysun sawicki I have felt the same way while i was before a soccer game and later i dislocated my knee and was out for like 8 months
Very very strong player sister
Who’s watching October 8th , 2019
I don’t think people usually don’t understand how serious volleyball is.
I dislocated my kneecap from volleyball, I’m lucky enough to have nothing be torn and no broken bones.
Zana Music I dislocated mine twice. Once in high school and once in my freshman year of college volleyball
Don’t be a dumbass like me 😂😂
Abraham Lincoln but I really wanna play :( lol
Same
Vball is my life !
I tore my ACL in soccer. And the process sucks after having surgery.
My friend played volleyball and she tore her Acl and both her meniscus
