Hi, I can't find the free child theme anywhere on the blog post. Can you please help me? Thanks!
Never mind, I dug around on your site and found the free child theme. Thank you for the resources!
Okay glad you found it! 👍
Thank you!
You're welcome!
W.O.W. Incredible. Thanks a lot :)
I'm glad you like it!
Thank you, Nelson, great tool. The generated code works only for Divi?
This would work in WordPress in general.
Nice. Thanks!
Great video, very handy tool. Can I style the category pages for the custom post type?
Yes, absolutely, just use the Divi Theme Builder!
Wow! I was becoming crazy with the CPT stuff and archive page and all that code (I don't know a bit of php)
What a relief to find your video because now IT WORKS!
Thank you so much! ♡ ♡ ♡
Just one question: does the generator work for someone who would not be using Divi?
This would work for WordPress, yes!
Thank you so much for this! One question: how can you support the Gutenberg editor, not only the classic one?
Hi Antonio, good question. Check this www.google.com/amp/s/www.cloudways.com/blog/gutenberg-wordpress-custom-post-type/amp/
@@PeeAyeCreative Thank you! I do appreciate a lot all your tips.
@@PeeAyeCreative BTW, that worked! Just that one line of code will support Gutenberg. Thanks again.
Great 👍
can you tell me one thing.
i have design my archive page.
how can i added this design which is made by me.
I'm not sure what you mean
Hi Nelson! first of all many thanks for this video. I just have a question: If I already have posts written on the post section, am I able to pass them to the new "cats" (or whatever category) I have set? If I can do this, how? I've been trying by myself but I just don't get it... Thanks in advance and regards from Spain.
Hi, I tried to add the code to my site for a book review custom post type. I keep receiving an error for this line: function register_cpt_book-review() {
I use the snippets plugin to add my code since I am a complete novice at coding. Any ideas?
You are so freaking helpful:)
Glad you think so!
Thanks for the tutorial!
I have a question - is it possible to show only posts from a specific category in custom post type?
I.e. I have created a CPT 'Cats' and checked 'Categories (WP Core)' in Taxonomies. Assume I have categories 'Black' and 'White'. And I want to show only posts from CPT 'Cats' which have category 'Black', but there is no 'Included Categories:' if I choose 'Post Type' Cats in DIVI Blog Module.
Is there a way to do that?
No, that's the main question on the blog post and the answer is always the same...Divi needs to add that, it's not possible to create with a tutorial.
@@PeeAyeCreative Thanks for your answer. I see... It would be a great feature if DIVI adds that to a blog module.
Hi, by the way, great tutorial. I followed the instructions and it worked but somehow, the news post type categories are tied to the original POST type. If I create/delete a category in my newly created post type, it is also created/deleted on the basic POST type on WordPress. They should be independent. Why is that happening?
So if I want to make a website selling cars for instance.... i can make a "car" instead og "cat"? And then use this a show page ?
Sure, anything you want can be a custom post type.
@@PeeAyeCreative THX, just wanted to be sure.
This is amazing! Thank you so much. If my new custom post type does not allow me to use the Divi Builder (button is not available) is there a way to enable that?
Hi Catherine, yes, this is a toggle in Theme Options>Builder. Each post type has the option to enable the builder there.
@@PeeAyeCreative Ahh, I knew that. Thank you!! This is fabulous.
No problem, glad you like it!
Excellent once again! Now... how about filtering?
Glad you like it! Filtering is a huge task, I'll leave that to a plugin that I hope to do a tutorial on soon.
@@PeeAyeCreative will would be possible to set the filtered portfolio module to get its data from the custom post instead of the projects? After all they are both custom post types. (Just a thought)...
So CPT UI isn't supported on Divi? :(
I'm not sure what you mean. Did I say that?
Awesome UA-cam channel and awesome CTP generator. Now what I would like to know is how to integrate your new CTP in a "Full-width Post Slider" section on the DIVI builder? (making it a "Full-width Cats Slider" for example)
I don't know, those are build into Divi as for posts so it's impossible to change without duplicating them entirely to a child theme.
Is there any way to not have viewers open the single posts? Only see them in the archive page thats it
I'm not sure what you mean. They should open fine as that is normal WordPress structure unrelated to this.
Thanks for this tutorial ... it missed just 2 important things for me : ...
1- how to create a form to allow users creating cats from the front-end
2- a right search engine to show right results if I search for a black cat for exemple
Submitting from the frontend would be a custom feature of some plugin, so not really relevant to this guide. Also, we have another tutorial on custom post type search.
@@PeeAyeCreative can you share the link please for this other tutorial ?
Hey Nelson, can I use the filterable portfolio module to pull in UA-cam thumbnails and urls into a grid layout? Would they be custom post types? Great job explaining, as usual.
I'm not sure, but I don't think that would be possible without some kind of customized module.
Question: I installed your Divi child theme, but hesitate to activate it. Can I have more then 1 theme active? What will happen to the Divi theme once I activate your child theme? Your instructions are: "To use our free Divi child theme, just install it like a normal theme. Go to your WordPress Dashboard to Appearance>Themes>Add New. Then click on Upload Theme and choose the downloaded file. Click Install Now, and then Activate the theme!"
Only one theme in WordPress is active at a time. But a child theme requires the parent theme (Divi) to be installed. Divi is still doing everything, but the child theme is like another layer but separate.
I love that you can use custom post types with Divi. But working with it now over year, I find the weakest link and a total show stopper is the actual blog module (were you create your listing before getting to the post). The module only lets you list title, excerpt and image (I hardly ever use the meta). I would like to have a module that can create custom blog listings, where I can show custom post type fields within my listing. If you want to create a press review post type, then in the blog you would also like to list the author of the (external) press article, together with a title and description (not just in the post itself). Or say you want to do something as simple as quotes. In any quote you have an excerpt and the quote author. So if you put the quote in the excerpt, were are you gonna put the author? In the title? Its a total mess! How are you going to get the author (not WordPress author, but quote author) listed in the blog module? It's impossible and a main reason why I avoid using custom post types all together. You can of course use a plugin, but then you cannot style your post type within Divi. It's a little bit of a half baked solution right now ...
Hi Walter, sure and I don't see that as a major problem, because adding custom post types or custom fields is beyond the default and when we do that we jus know we will need to use another Divi 3rd party plugin for making the loop layout. Maybe I'm just too used to it, but I feel that is mostly fair.
@@PeeAyeCreativeThank you BTW for posting all these great blogs and videos. Greatly appreciated. You deserve the Divi purple heart for it, you really do! It is so much work and I am sure you have other things to take care of as well. Regarding loop layouts, any suggestions for a good 3rd party plugin?
Hey buddy. just an FYI you should probably note to folks that the key must be one word or use underscores as separators to properly work. Also, that the key cannot be the same value as Custom Query Variable:
Sure, I'll update the post to make that as clear as possible!
Okay, to be honest I think it's definitely an improvement, however even after following these steps, something important is missing. Custom post types usually have custom fields and these custom fields do not show up as elements you can include in the blog module. Therefore it's not very helpful to me is there a way to allow the blog module to be modified so it can include the custom fields of custom post types.
that's what I'm looking for many days!
Nice, but if tomorow we want change Them all CPT will be lose... xD
With a Plugin it is a better solution for long time... Example with CPT UI.
Huh? Why would they be lost? This has nothing to do right the theme.
you look like jeff bezos
Hmm really?
@@PeeAyeCreative a bit :D
