Played it today. My new gamer. Actually, I think your review got me to try them. Thank you good sir We only got in 12 holes but despite tgevfew extra scuffs, I played that ball and the flight was still fine.
I bought a sample pack of all the Cut balls, and the two biggest issues I found were definitely the durability, as others mentioned, and they were noticeably shorter than premium urethane offerings. The distance loss was similar to what I saw when trying the Kirkland balls, like 10+ yards. The Cut DC was a little longer than the others, but still 5+ yards shorter than the ProV1x or Callaway CSx. Maybe they changed the formulation over the last two years. I might have to give them another try. It would be interesting to see you test the Maxfli balls. Those seem to be some of the best performing balls, for the price, out there.
I have been playing them for some time now and have no complaints. Not many others playing them so easy to tell which ball is mine without having to mark them up.
How awesome it is to actually see an underdog brand actually come out and truly perform better than expected. This does not happen very often! So many golf balls with bold claims have been failures. Yes I’d give these a try certainly a good price and for the person that golfs only once or twice a week, it’s a great deal. Awesome!
I bought a box of those over the winter cuz the deal was soo good. I've played a couple rounds of simulator golf and about 27 holes on course with them. If they could fix the durability without sacrificing the performance which for me was pretty good, Cut would have a winner on their hands. I just played 18 yesterday and had to change out the ball three times from wear in the first 6 holes. Finished out the round with a TP5 that I got used ($1.05 a ball) in bulk from a local guy and it showed almost no wear after 12 plus holes.
Matt - great review and if I was overstocked on golf balls I would be running to pick up a dozen or so. Get this, the local Target store has the Cut Blue for $19.99….boy was I tempted to pick up a dozen.
Matt, I play these and you're review was spot on. Ironically, they do get cut up by wedges quite easily. Feel great off the driver, a little firm with shorter clubs (although I like that), spin around the greens is fantastic, but the durability is questionable. I'm able to find them at a local Walmart in Florida for $20/dozen
Hi Matt, Great review as always. As an Ex Balata user these appear to have a few similar qualities. As already requested could you do a complete round with them...love the stopping power.
This is exactly what I experienced. Little clicky sounding, felt fine. It spun too much too. I could not control the spin at all. And the cover got destroyed after a couple holes. They were about 10 yards shorter for me though.
I wish someone would try and review Cut Grey. I use them and they are great. Noticeably soft especially on iron shots. And I don’t have any problems with durability like some say about the Cut Blue.
Watching you hit the drives in the simulator. Smacking that ball like it owes you money. Golf ball choice is always a tough decision. I did base it solely on costs as i would lose quite a few during a round. After a couple of years of lessons still end up losing 1 or 2 a round but, certainly much better. Yet to buy a premium ball.Buddy says if I bought a box of higher priced balls game would improve. Looking at getting a couple of boxes of the Taylor made Soft Feel and see how that works. Enjoying the channel.
You should do a review of the new Vice Pro Zero balls. They are supposed to be MAX durability for the average golfer meant for all swing speeds with high green side control. I enjoy playing Vice balls and willl say their vice pro plus does seem to be quite durable. I have a box myself of the Zeros but have not tried them yet.
I’ve come across these in the woods while looking for my golf ball and just left them there cause I didn’t know anything about them. Now I’ll pick it up after those results.
I don’t play these often but I did have one of my best days striking and hitting the ball with these balls. I’m not a great golfer. Average at best but holed out from 160 with one of these
I used to play the Cut DC's the 4 piece ball. Great feel. Forgiving. But it is about 10 yards shorter and the cover is Crap! 3 holes, and I'd replace the ball, because the cover was ripped. Thanks for the review. If you lose a lot of golf balls. Great buy these. But I'm not doing it anymore. Keep up the great work Matt
I bought 2 boxes last week. That’s what happened on hole one on a par 3 - 124 yards. Left 4 cut lines in it from an older wedge. I think they are better for slower swing speeds
I bought a dozen and took out a sleeve to play my first game with them. I went through all three of them on my front nine and played the rest of the game with other balls that I had in my back as the white coating on the balls just shredded. I guess the performance was okay but it was too frustrating playing with a flaking golf ball.
The problem with Cut balls in my experience is that the durability is so atrocious, they end up costing you about the same price as a premium ball. Any crisp wedge strike leaves tracks and even little flecks of cover you can scrape off. You can easily play any premium ball (or any Vice ball) twice to three times as long as a Cut. They’re cheap, but that doesn’t mean they’re a good value.
Thanks for the review,I’d be interested in trying these out. I prefer a slightly firmer ball as opposed to a proV1 etc. I expect they’re not available over here? ps. I must be the only person who really hates the Kirkland ball, just doesn’t work for me. Currently using the decathlon inesis ball
There are a lot of balls out there today that are simply good. Latest find and surprise for me is the inexpensive Wilson 50 Elite. Extremely good for the price. Was playing TaylorMade Tour Response and they've just gotten too $$$. I think it holds up better also. 3 handicap here.
Have you tried the Spalding SD Tour X golf balls? 3 piece Urethane cover. They sound similar to the Cut Blue, but even cheaper. I've been playing them for a year now and really like them. Would love your opinion on them!
I’ve tried a couple models of this ball and found them to be ok. Worst part is the covers get damaged quite easily. I wonder if they called them Cut because of that lol
The Cut balls just have a cover formulation that's waaaay too soft. I was shredding them even with chips and short pitches. You get an immense amount of stop with them, though. They're too firm for me, but that's personal preference. They feel about like a Prov1x or the Maxfli X ball to me. Like you, I did find them long off the driver and iron distance was the same as most 3-piece urethane balls I've tried.
I played around with the Cut Blue. They performed but didn't last. I had to replace the ball every 3 holes, whereas a Srixon Z-Star will last the whole round.
I have to change a pro v 1 after a couple of wedge shots. I changed to avx last season and in fairness find them 10 times more durable but only changed to help with spin. Pro v 1 is the least durable ball I’ve ever used!
Cut is a good name... I bought a dozen. Played a ball for a few holes and the cover was cut. Got another ball out... same thing. Ball felt good, but not worth the cheaper price if you can't get through 18 holes.
I tried the Cut Blue after getting a dozen off Amazon for £22.50. I don't use Prov 1 myself preferring TP5, but my review of the Cut was merely ok. Ok lost a bit of distance and they were clicky off my Scotty Cameron putter which I didn't like, they didn't spin as much as the TP5 but as the Blue is aimed at TP5x or Prov1x I wasn't expecting them too. From a price point of view it's a no brainer £22.50 is mighty cheap, but from a performance point of view and predictable spin feel etc i will be staying with TP5. Good review. I think the Cut grey is the prov 1 alternative as it's 3 piece rather than the blue which is 4
I usually play the same ball for 3 or 4 rounds. Doesn't make good economics if they only last a few holes before becoming unplayable. Which is a massive shame. Who couldn't do with an extar 10 yards of carry at half the price??
@Matt Fryer Golf So far I've only been able to hit them in a simulator. Our weather has been lousy. 🌧 I'll know more once I can take them on the course.
The only reason I don't play these balls is because after the first shot with any iron or wedge the cover rips. I did notice the yellow colored ball is super durable for whatever reason
Good review Matt though I am unlikely to ever try or buy this brand. Amazon is handy and useful but I support my local pro shop and I dont see them stocking them. Would appreciate you doing a review of AD333s
I note that the ball has a urethane cover, so should we be surprised that it scuffs easily? (Just asking...). Also, it is a 4-piece ball, I have used it, definitely a good value for the $$ to me.
Starting golfing last year, I used these balls recently and noticed myself playing much better. But to be honest at my skill level I’m not sure the ball makes much of a difference anyway. Side note. I’ve never seen someone bite a golf ball… 😂😂
At $20-25 USD per dozen, it's still not in the range of the no-longer-available Kirkland 4-piece ball which retailed 2-dozen for $29.99. I still have about 4 dozen of the Kirkland "Tour Performance" balls and play them regularly. Do I like Pro V1 balls? Yes, but for 1/4 the price the Kirkland offer 90+ percent of the performance and durability in my opinion. I can shoot the same score with either ball.
My cousin sold me 2 dozens of these and after 3 holes my first ball already showed wear and tear. They were decent but I went back to Taylormade Tour Response balls
Like a lot of budget balls, they do not hold up to wear like the better brands. That seems to be the theme I have seen with your and Rick Shiels ball reviews. If you are making a ball that is 1/2 the price of premium balls something has to give. Plus, for a lot of golfers, they’ll lose that ball before they have to swap it out for damage.
These balls play well, but the cover gets "cut" up really quickly. They're not worth it to me when I have to replace a ball sever times in a round due to damage
I am a high handicap golfer (i.e. I lose a fair amount of balls). Most budget-friendly balls are made and marketed for beginner players with slower swings. But, at 6'3" with long arms, I've got well above-average swing speeds. I need the higher compression, but genuinely cannot afford to play a high-end Titleist or Taylormade and lose 3 balls each round. When I can buy a dozen Cut Blue for nearly the same price as one sleeve of V1x's or TP5's (and maintain even relative performance) it is an absolute no-brainer to continue playing the Cuts. Especially when I'm likely to lose the ball long before durability becomes any sort of limiting factor. Am I somewhat of an abnormality when it comes to ball selection? Yeah, maybe. Will I probably switch to a more premium ball as my game improves down to road? Yeah, I will. But at this point, Cut has been a huge WIN for me.
I tried the cut red, they were not good at all, I am 70 and have an 80mph swing speed and one ball lasted 11 holes the split in half, the second ball cracked after 3 holes and the third one only last two drives. I put them in the trash can. So I won't trust anything from that company.
Not sure how you can say these out perform premium priced golf balls when you see how badly the cover cuts up. I’m not a super fast swing speed and the only thing stopping me using balls for several rounds is my ability to hit it OOB and into farmers fields
I have been thinking of trying them because I don’t want to spend premium money on a golf ball I will lose. Durability will be the problem for the person that finds my ball in the woods.
@@Mattfryergolf commented before you did the durability test lol. i personally tried them last year and loved them until hole number 2-3 when i noticed the gashes
The PRO V is overrated. I play off 8. I can hit about 230/260 off the tee in perfect conditions. The Bridgestone Tour GOES FURTHER. In fact even the VELOCITY Titleist is a decent ball and if hit properly you are not losing much distance off the tee. So why pay £50+ when you can pay half the price. Even the CALLAWAY CHROME SOFT for me, goes further than the PRO V although the Chrome Soft has gone drastically up in price - used to be around £36 for 12. Now around £50/55. Bridgestone at £42; Velocity at £27 You pays your you takes your choice.
Played it today. My new gamer.

Don’t know about this ball, but I know the Kirkland is a prov1 killer. Spins up a bit more, but can be useful that spin around the green for sure

Thanks for sharing! Good info
This and the red are my preferred balls. The biggest issue is the durability, but they do perform very well.
I like your golf ball videos. Every review I've seen / read says ball isn't durable. Buy Cut Grey is. Can you do a review on that and Cut Red?
Great vid Matt, as ever

I play the greys and they are superb. Only issue is I haven’t been able to buy them in the UK for a year so had to go to Kirkland’s

Gawd to funny! I give you a thumbs up Just for biting the ball.
Like to see how Matt would score on the course with the ball. Gotta to try it soon as well

Where did you get yours from? So we know if thats the newer version or not.
Do the Seed SD-01 please.
I will look in to these
Great info thanks
Glad it was helpful!
great stuff Matt
Appreciate it
There's another great ball you should review. Greenwood Golf Balls.
24 kirklands for £30 is the only option for me now. Quality price and great to use.
Off to Florida next Wednesday- May pick up a couple boxes 😊
Test the Bridgestone BX ball
Any chance of testing the Cut Grey ball?
I have played a few boxes of these and they do get beaten up pretty fast. But a pretty good ball.
I played around with the Cut Blue. They performed but didn't last. I had to replace the ball every 3 holes, whereas a Srixon Z-Star will last the whole round.
Matt, what putter are you hitting in this video?
Is it going in the bag Matt? Interesting result, I was surprised?
Not sure yet...the distance was good, just not sure on the sound from a personal point. Good ball overall though

How is the durability on the Cut golf ball?
the cut grey or the cut dc are a softer ball. the dcs are better on durability
Good review Matt though I am unlikely to ever try or buy this brand.
Amazon is handy and useful but I support my local pro shop and I dont see them stocking them.
Would appreciate you doing a review of AD333s
Have you thought about ear plugs to get a feel without the sound?
Interesting thought...only thing i would say is I wouldn't play in ear plugs so might be a stumbling point...but good thoughts
I cracked a new one right in half with a 7 iron swing and after that the rest of them would have small cracks after a couple holes
I note that the ball has a urethane cover, so should we be surprised that it scuffs easily? (Just asking...). Also, it is a 4-piece ball, I have used it, definitely a good value for the $$ to me.

Yep deffo worth trying at that price for that level of performance
Interesting that in terms of feel and shapability it seems to be more than worth the money but durability is in an issue
Played some of the Cut golf balls and they are not bad. However, they feel a little weird when you miss hit them
Thanks for the feedback, good to know
I've been using these for a couple years and swapped from pro v1s to these. I love them

They named them correctly Cut. They arr cheaper but I wound up using more golf balls because they shred so bad.

But, at 6'3" with long arms, I've got well above-average swing speeds. I swing my driver about 113 and cut red lasted 6 holes then split in half
Well this negates my comment. They didn’t last long for me either. First shot took 4 groves in it with an old wedge.
Totally agree pal, ruined after nine holes utter pish 🙂
Pays $20 for 24 balls and surprised when they’re not good. L

Why is taylormade cheaper for you guys in the UK than it is for us in America?

Yep very underrated ball

Nah. I tried cut vs Seed-02 and V1. Atrocious. Feels like a rock. spins…like a rock. Maybe they reformulated but I would say you got lucky.
I love its performance. Just like you, durability is an issue. I would pay $10 more for durability.
To me, they sound very clicky
The Cut Gray is much more durable than the Blue.
solid balls, but they physically "cut" up so easily. couple wedges or a single bunker shot later, you'll see legitimate gashes on the ball.
Yeah that durability test did let it down.
