The one thing missing from the history is the reason it was built in the first place - to transport the Buran space shuttle. I hope some day that can be added as a payload, since its the most important cargo it ever transported.
Which begs the question whether the new one, if it ever gets built, will have those humps on the fuselage removed. Adding unnecessary drag for a feature that will never be used, doesn't seem sensible to me.

The Mriya was such a sight to see, pretty much anywhere it flew in the world, good luck getting to the airport to catch a flight. In Perth, Western Australia when it came to deliver a some 180 tonne generator for the mines, over 300,000 people turned out at the international airport (that's quite a lot for Perth, considering Perths total population was just short of 2 million at that time). Massive traffic jams and seeing people bailing on thier uber/taxi rides and running down the emergency lane with thier bags to try and catch thier flights. We went, my nephew was maybe 3 or 4 at the time, he saw a 747 comming in to land as the road t the airport snakes under short final then runs beside the end of the runway (still 500m or so away). We asked him, what plane is that, and his response was "that's a big plane". When we left, we saw a 747 taking off, and we asked him again, and his response was "that's a small plane". The Mriya was so awesome to see in person, cant wait until they can rebuild it and fly it once more.
Very nice to hear the background stories and some of the remarkable features. I saw a 225 take-off once in real life and I am happy I can now “fly” it myself in MSFS.
I've already brought the AN-225 and given it a whirl, it really is a sight to see, can't imagine what the real experience would have been like. It's worth every penny, if not more and I'm glad to be able to make a small contribution to the rebuild. As an aviation noob though, I'm having trouble landing this bird, so it would be awesome to see some in-depth content on the autopilot controls as they seem rather different to other planes I've used in MSFS. I can see some similarities so keeping in the air is not an issue "thankfully the EFB has a unit converter!" but when it comes to approach, well, lets just say I've yet to get a clean touchdown 😅
No one has pointed this out yet, but Antonov 225’s first flight (Dec 21, 1988); was also the same date as the PanAm 747 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland. Kind of ironic that where there‘s destruction of one aircraft, comes the birth of flight for another one.
That is interesting. I was 12 when the happened and remember it well, My dad told me a plane had been blown up or crashed in Scotland and I will never forget the image of the cockpit section laying in some field. But I had no knowledge of the first flight of the An-225. Took me 27 years to finally see her when she was at Doncaster in 2015

I have come across a few bugs with her. The payload doesn't actually seem to load even though the EFB says it has (and weights all confirm). Look at the actual weight and balance and it is nearly empty. I wondered why it climbed like a rocket when supposedly weighing 600T! The kneeling is also a little buggy, if you move the cameras around or reset them, it puts your POV above the flight deck, in the original position you'd be in prior to kneeling.
Yeah the camera position is a bit eggy when it kneels, I find it best to put it into drone mode, which I do for the entire start up sequence as it's much easier to navigate around the flight deck. It is a bit tedious to have to cycle through all the default quick camera views I am hoping that someone might create a mod for better camera views that just focus on the important areas to get her started.
Love/hate how you have completly removed the mention of Soviets from the script. I understand that the current context does not fit with the subject, but one must never selectively censor history

Given the Reference to Ukraine on the nose of the plane, you should be able to load military equipment, like Tanks etc so we can ship them off to Ukraine. :) Add it in please.
I'm a little confused, the fact that the money was going to help rebuild the aircraft was what sold it for me. So when I load up the sim in the marketplace it says the money is going to rebuild it OR to memorialise it, so which one is it, because to me there is a massive difference between rebuilding it and making some kind of memorial to it.
Not sure if this is due to my machine's specs, or because something loaded incorrectly. My rig is very old, but aside from the A-310, ATR, and this beast, all aircraft, even the Just flight BAE 146 run fine with all features. However, with the 225 it simply does not power up. Even with ground power on the ship is dead, or comatose. To verify it was not something I have done I have performed a load up on a runway, and (this is exactly what the ATR does by the way), it loads up, engines running, systems seemingly running, but all the displays and gauges are blanks except for the EFB (the ATR's is also blank). It truly just seems the ship lacks electrical power. Any idea what this can be, and have you encountered this before? From what I see, this product is museum quality and I really want to fly it, but can't due to this issue.
I believe the rebuild is essentially building a new plane..shouldn't they consider building it with 4 Trent XWB's, it will be more available power than the current 6 engine setup...but overall it'll give it more performance.
What sucks is the plane has so much issue I have purchased the plane yesterday and today everything is bugged engines don’t work properly sound also, they won’t reduce and the plane window swipe is bugged I can’t fix anything to not purchase this aircraft it’s not worth it.

This game is a gall to gamble away money.. there are still far too many bugs, e.g. FPS Fix Airpots just like the smooth processing of images on a 21:9 ultra with monitor everything that is larger than Cessna jerky and lags even minimally on approaches .. e.g. Amsterdam Schiphol as well as Paris Charles de Gaulle and there are many others.. cheeky.. asking for money for it.. but the new 2024 MSFS announce my hardware is.. I7-10700k Geforce RTX3090 ZotacGaming 32GB V Ramm SSD 2T 1T SSD what can it fail to spend even more money on?

Improve ground physics. It can't be that Mario kart feels more realistic than msfs 2020. Asobo's ability to solve these basic issues is pathetic. Look for ng bean developers and hire them please...
The model is of very poor quality, the developers do not want to correct the comments! I really hope that this model will be hacked and it will be in the public domain. Don't buy it for $19. Developers do not respect their customers and customers!

its was not the only plane to carry buran, they converted a old bomber to carry it also
@@1littlelee The VM-T could only carry most of the disassembled Buran. The An-225 was needed to carry the whole assembled shuttle

Put your camera on drone mode by pressing insert and move around using the keyboard controls, I think you can also use a Xbox controller too.
