Hi Edmund, we install the 12V units so you can power them off the batteries regardless of if you have shore power available or not. With the battery charger on (using shore power), the voltage these units are drawing is replenished, so there is no concern about runtime while on shore power.
Might save a few cents but isolating the engine battery has "saved" many boaters over the years who experienced away-from-the-dock electrical failure. My R-23 has house, engine and emergency parallel switches - just right for safety and peace of mind.

G'day , this series is the best viewing on any kind of platform . What would need to happen to use these boats in a 240 volt part of the world ?

Why not make the refrig. Icemakers etc work off both shore power and 12V, especially since mist likely your on shore power most of the time

Why not use single switch for engine and house with a both or parallel, wouldn’t that be simpler and cost effective
