Nah cause I mentioned that same thing to a friend. I'll genuinely never understand how writers think taking attention away from the main character will ever be a good idea.
Even then, I do somewhat wish more had been done with that outside of the one episode. That bit where she goes to warn Wade about his father, for example. When I saw her walking through the hotel halls I thought she was going to see Knuckles so he could comfort her and maybe offer some advice on the situation. They show the two seem to get along, and seemingly more than Knuckles does with Wade. I wish more was done with that
Oh yeah then what do you guys want me to do with that sonic fandom and ken penders, telling them about the truth on everything and telling them they are all nightmares?
(almost) Everything Mark said in this video is exactly what I thought after watching it and what I told others about it. I even compared it to the Ted series like he did.
I personally thought it was good but the problems it has are 1. after the first three episodes it focuses primarily on wade while knuckles gets barely any screen time but to be fair the wade parts were still enjoyable 2. The main villain gets less screen time than random side characters and we never find out what his name is 3. The final fight was way to short and we spent more time on the bowling than the final battle 4. We never got to see pretzel lady react/find out that knuckles wasn’t in his room 5. While I like the music choices I think not having the knuckles rap get a reference was a disappointment 6. Not really a problem just more of a question why does knuckles have the flames of disaster and we’re also supposed to accept that wade a normal human broke himself free from a cage with his strength but then doesn’t use that strength ever again 7. Wades sister is definitely too annoying and the idea that an fbi agent doesn’t have the capability to defend herself from a guy with a chain as his weapon is a little ridiculous plus why was there literally no police or anything like that throughout the show primarily during the final battle like your in a city the idea that no cops showed up seems a little questionable
@@poppip10 the buyer is just what he’s called because that’s what he is he’s buying knuckles from the corrupt gun agents but we still don’t know his actual name
Well I agree with most except the knuckles rap, ofc I would love to hear them too but idk if you heard but the guy who rapped those songs ended up getting into a fight with Sega claiming that Sega did not pay him enough for the knuckles rap songs. And he took Sega to court, which obviously didn't go far as Sega proved that they paid him the promised amount
@@darkstar52 well in that case they could’ve at least done something involving rap in general because that’s clearly the type of music most people have come to expect when they think of knuckles
Hm... this is bad YOU'RE JUST MEAN WHAT THE HECK? HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE SOMETHING YOU'RE TOO NEGATIVE GOSH Hm... I liked this WOW SHILL YOU CAN'T EVEN CRITICIZE SOMETHING, CONSUME PRODUCT GET EXCITED FOR NEW PRODUCT, YOU ARE AN IMBECILE
My only gripe is how they just smacked "Knuckles" over "The Wade show" title. They could have showed more about Knuckles background, and balenced the two arc's out, but yeah it was alright.
I feel like, they should have made the plot more cool & less goofy. The plot was okay but not so good for me to be interested in, & they could have had other Sonic characters shown up, even if it was in flashbacks that Knuckles interact with in his past. They could have done so much better with this storyline/plot. Hell, the games & animated storyline from Sonic universe is so much better, they could have made this plot so more interesting than a bowling competition 🤦♀️🎳
I like the show but understand why some really didn't. What baffles me more is the fact people seem to think the supplemental budget miniseries is somehow indicative of the quality that Sonic 3 is going to have as opposed to...the other two movies by the same creative team.
Or that a show based on a movie that is primarly comedy and adventure is supposed to be SUPER CERAL all of a sudden. Like, I know it's Knuckles but this is the same character who didn't know that text dots weren't LITERAL dots. I know there are a ton of shows that I hate or I hate it when writers try to make a show for 'modern audiences' but this sticks to the feeling of the movie series as it is now.
the low budget opera scene was the funniest scene to me from how it was purposely made to look low budget, and then the scene about the puppet appearing as Wade's father.
Man I really enjoyed it too! I love Wade’s arc, even if it feels a little rushed towards the end. I also love how they let Wade properly win the tournament instead of having that robot guy interrupt it when it was about to end.
I understand people exressing their disappointment of the show. But to say that its the worst piece of Sonic media is ridiculous. The show's jokes land A LOT better than the 1s we've gotten in both of the Sonic movies. Its void of childish fart jokes and childish flossing from Sonic. And this is coming from a person who loves those films. But the fandom is acting like the movies are somehow masterclass writing and cinema. This show does the same thing that the first movie did. Where instead of getting Sonic and Tom going on a road trip we get Knuckles and Wade. The CGI character is playing off of the human components. As they should since Team Sonic lives in a world filled with humans. I'm glad those reviews made me think I was barely see Knuckles. Because I went in expecting such only to be surprised how much he was on screen. I also love how selfaware of how silly it is.
Well there is no childish flossing or fart jokes, true. But almost every joke (That's not coming from Knuckles) this show tries to do comes across as annoying, dumb, awkward, repetitive, juvenile, and sometimes pure "wtf was that?"
@@liamphibia Most of the things you described can easily be said about the Sonic movies. I'm not sure what you guys expected going into this show. Because we've clearly gotten a taste of it in both of the Sonics movies.
@@LegoDarthVader. The Sonic fandom can be oblivious at times. They fuel Sonic Team to make games like Sonic 06 and Secret Rings. It's irony at its finest that they're saying this is the worst piece of Sonic media.
@@RandomBlackGamer Look we weren't expecting peak TV art from Knuckles. We were kind of expecting the show to be light-hearted and consistent in quality while having some real emotional moments and having more and more incorporated game elements we know and love. And we even expected Knuckles to be the main star of the show. NOT Wade. Also, Hold up. Are you saying the Sonic Movies are way "dumb, awkward, repetitive, juvenile, and sometimes pure "wtf was that" than Knuckles!? *Buuuuuuuuull f***ing SH!T*
My headcanon in the show was that his sister wasn’t actually in the FBI and she got scammed into some bootleg version of it. It made the show way funnier!
In the first place you underestimate how unqualified people pass the filters, either that, they don't even exist in the first place or they are so low, underground even that they could go down the center of the earth.
I know people don't like the inclusion of the human characters in the sonic cinematic universe but if they are gonna include them , at least they are given things to do as they develop over the series. Sonic convinced Tom to see the value in green hills to stay there and be it's number 1 cop. And this knuckles show honestly made me appreciate wade as a character. I liked the scenes with him and knuckles bonding.
@@Biostar96 but it works this sonic has an origin and slightly different characterization and in the moment he says that because he has been looking for company and a home for a long time and he sees someone give that very same thing up he definitely still has the free spirit as he does alot of things he knows so much about earth because he would do practically everything and see anything
@@youssefbasem9266 I don’t care if it fits this Sonic, I’m talking about the original Sonic which the movies are an adaptation of. It’s an insult to the character and the themes of the series as a whole.
@@sanicexe4795 Didn't need to be a Sonic movie either but they made it one. They could have atleast stuck to the core traits of the character but they failed that as well. Enjoy it if you want but it's not Sonic to me.
6:58 This is basically my stance as well. I had so much fun with this series. Would I have preferred a show that focused much more on the Sonic characters? Absolutely. But that doesn't make what we got "bad".
Knuckles feels like the supporting character and Wade feels like the protagonist. I feel like somebody wanted to make a bowling movie but was forced to settle for this. There's so much they could have worked with for Knuckles, like him coming to terms with his tribe being wiped out or just SOMETHING that was about Knuckles.
Exactly, they could have done so much better with this storyline. The could have shown more of knuckles childhood, more of his village, hell even characters he interacted with in his past. They could have introduced characters like Rouge or even Amy and cream & cheese, their’s so much better storylines for knuckles in the games & in the Sonic animated show that they could have used than what they used here ☝️😤
I've only seen the first two episodes, but so far, my favorite parts of the show have been the Wade related-stuff. Stuff like him fantasizing about his bizarre battle strategy, him being pushed to do better in bowling by a psychotic hitman, and his consistently pathetic nature have made him pretty funny to watch in my opinion. I agree that it sucks that in the later episodes, apparently Knuckles gets side-lined more and more, but I don't find Wade too grating in these first few episodes where I particularly would mind watching more about him. Though, I do know they introduce his family as side characters in episode 3, so having all of Wade's family may get a bit tiresome for me.
Update: Finished episode 3, and I actually really liked it. Thought Wade's family was gonna be grating, but I don't know, I enjoyed them. Never expected Knuckles to be in a conversation where the Promised Land was brought up, but yeah, it was a really sweet episode.
I agree. It should have been called "The Wade Show" so that people dont get mislead thinking that it was Knuckles tha was going to have the most character development
Putting it bluntly, mark, you said it yourself. You forgot Knuckles was even in the show *multiple times*, that it focused on human stuff and it just treats Knuckles as a side character It can be extremely endearing. The writing could be top notch and perfect and heartwarming. I'm glad you liked it! But when people want to watch a show LITERALLY called Knuckles, and want to see more Knuckles, and all marketing is Knuckles- none of that actually matters. It failed as a Sonic property. Jokes aside about his track record that should be far, far enough to tell you why it's hated. It's a SONIC property. People want Sonic things in it. People want KNUCKLES in it. The first two movies are loudly hated for the human shit, not just the wedding scene so it's just a no brainer. It's cool that you liked it, seein you be positive in a walkaway is nice! But acting like people are weird for wanting more Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff Knuckles is weird
Thank you! This should be common sense but people don't seem to get it. If you like the show, that's great, glad you enjoyed it. But understand how ridiculous this show is as a concept. If you go to watch the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie and it ends up being an Iron Man sequel that barely features the title characters. It doesn't matter how good of an Iron Man film it is, the fact that it's not what was advertised is a problem.
Yes Like, imagine someone created a film called "Spongebob" but its just a retelling of The Godfather. Like, why am I the one at fault for expecting Spongebob? Didn't people hate The live action Smurfs films for this reason?
@AmManTalks Because people are just dumb and have horrible taste. Just like how Skylanders Academy ruined Spyro by making him a joke and push over compared to other characters when the show is literally about him. The only reason Skylanders is a thing is because of Spyro. This is why I'm more of a gamer fan than a movie/tv fan. Because in video games you control what happens but with TV you just gotta sit there and w the character make dumb decisions or usee false advertisements and focus on irrelevant shit like they did with Knuckles show. That's why when there's a new movie or TV show, I'll watch it if it's there to give it a chance but I won't have high hopes for it.
I honestly didn’t find it to be that well written, it is kinda on the same level of the movies, but a lot of stuff that happens in the movies make more sense than in the show. It wasn’t terrible, it’s just kinda mediocre.
thats not even half of the show... its called knuckles and he's not even in half of the show. and nobody cares about these corny and unfunny human characters
Let's just be happy Sonic is seen as a valid pop culture icon again. And we haven't had any horrible games for the past few years so the franchise is slowly improving.
I think what we gotta understand is that while the movies are taking a lot from the games, they don’t want to root their identity in just adapting the games and want to make it feel more separated from other sonic canon’s. Because of that, I really can’t hate this show.
It was really fun. While Knuckles' presence diminished throughout each episode- How would they even write that? It's good to see Knuckles develop and adapt yes, but his story is basically finished. He's already had most of his development and throughout the show he gains an understanding of how life on Earth works. In fact, Knuckles adapting to Earth life can really just be done in an episode or two, but instead they tried their absolute best to let it show Knuckles adapting while teaching Wade. This entire show could've been just 1 movie. While I admit the Wade stuff is unnecessary, they made it fun and actually have a nice flow for his story. Knuckles throughout the show is both a mentor and student, teaching Wade how to be a true warrior and follow his heart, while Wade teaches Knuckles that there are multiple "battlefields" and the joys of life. While yes the role could've been given to Sonic, it was still Sonic that cemented the idea into Knuckles for him to actually chill out. Overall I enjoyed the show. 8/10
I like how the title reads like a comment under a hate post. It is pretty interesting to see Mark being the positive one asking “Why are you guys hating it so much?”
Well Atleast it’s reassuring that the third sonic movie has a completely different production team and writers. So it gives me hope they don’t go this shows route
Hey the shows still pretty good and atleast it doesn’t look like shit. Honestly glad knuckles is only in like have of the entire run time if it means he looks good.
Who we gonna see ? Sliver teleporting Ammy , Big , Cream and Omega ? 🤣 But it would be stupid seeing all humans helping Ammy to get Sonic's heart . I saw lots of Human vs cartoon crossovers and Ammy would be good written using her kindness or will be just the same .
honestly? the show isn't bad it's alright. the reason people are so mad at it is cause honestly, you can't please a sonic fan I hate saying it but it's true. It's this endless cycle of the company doing something right, fans loving it and then they try something slightly different and BOOM worst thing ever shit from a butt it's insane really.
The main reason I tolerate this shows actual premise as opposed to what it could have been is because it’s supplemental material, while the sonic movies were stated to be similar to the MCU I appreciate they didn’t do that annoying thing the MCU has done recently in having a crap ton of shows the later movies just expect you to watch to understand what’s going on, while I do think the first two movies are leagues funnier, I wouldn’t call this an insult to this new take on the sonic universe, could have been better but nothing I lost my sanity over
I've never seen a fan base with so much toxic positivity and toxic negativity at the same time I feel the need to mention criticism doesn't always equal toxic negativity and the same with positivity but this fanbase takes it too far most of the time
Welcome to the Sonic fandom ☺️, it's always like this. My biggest regret in this franchise is discovering the fandom, I'll continue to enjoy what I like and dislike about Sonic a secret 🤫
1:23 That’s the thing, though - the series barely even delivers on that expectation. Instead of being a Knuckles and Wade buddy comedy, it’s mostly just The Wade Show with Knuckles sitting in the background for 75% of the time. After the first two episodes they don’t actually interact that much, which is a shame because they do have strong chemistry. The show isn’t TERRIBLE, but just feels like a complete waste of time.
this is exactly what i've been saying yeah i actually liked knuckles and wade's dynamic but past a certain point it just devolves into being about wade's daddy issues and like sure i guess it's not ACTUALLY the worst thing in the world but it's laughably terrible as a knuckles series at least for the second half. it doesn't even feel like there's any reason for knuckles to be the one there, it could just as easily have been sonic and tails too but im sure affording more of the extra voice acting would've been too much for them i guess :v
but he wasnt in the background 75% of the time, thats what mark was talking about knuckles was in the show far more than that kotaku article led him to believe
Like I understand being disappointed that this wasn’t best thing that could be made for knuckles, but I wouldn’t even consider this being anywhere near some of the worst sonic projects out there, at best i just thought it was alright.😊
@jskywalker58 That game is so unfinished, bland, and broken. You could be running in a level, and then your thrown into the void because you clipped through the ground.
Knukles has been my favourite Sonic character since I was a kid. Loved his introduction in the second movie and was really hyped for this show. Whle I do agree with alot of fans that it just became the "Wade Show" in the latter half, and felt Knuckle's own arc felt empty, I did enjoy his interactions with Wade and his mother. Those quiet moments where Knuckles listens to them and trys to relate are very heartwarming. Also helps that Wade himself is a likeable person so while I wished there was more focus on Knuckles, at least Wade isn't insufferable. I shudder to imagine if Knuckles teamed up with the sister and the show was about her. Overall while I felt this show didn't live up to the hype, I still enjoyed it for what it is and would watch it again.
They missed the opportunity to name the show "Wade & Knuckles". Maybe like somewhere during Episode 3, the title changes from just "Knuckles" into "Wade & Knuckles" (the same way the final episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is titled "Captain America and the Winter Soldier" to signify Sam Wilson embracing the shield and identity) It would be more fitting and funny since it's also a great way to exploit the "& Knuckles" meme
People had the same issue with the transformer movies because they also featured human characters. I thought it was already common knowledge that live action movies and shows with CGI characters are usually going to have human characters featured as proactively as their CGI counterparts.
Considering they finished shooting the film even with the Hollywood strikes, then that could only mean that the human stuff is kept to a minimum here… hopefully
I will say this. I appriciate that while there is some lore dropped in this series, they didn't take the MCU route and make it 'homework', more or less removing any sort of freedom a show can it's own thing while at the same time making any sort of movie connecting lore impossible to get, boring to understand or just making it flat out lame. The Knuckles series seems familiar with what it is and takes a goofier character and puts him with a character who is COMEDICALLY serious and I think that's something a lot of people forget. I *DID* like Sonic 2 but where Knuckles' seriousness came in, it was still purposely EXAGGERATED to show out of place he was not just on Earth but just communicating with Eggman, Sonic and Tails. The latter two didn't get him and they're from the SAME PLANET. That's how weird Knuckles acts but I still liked it given that at the end of the day, he is trying to do something that he thinks is right. He also didn't grow up on Earth like Sonic did so he's even LESS accustomed to how things work, because even if Sonic was living on his own he quickly learned how Earth works, how to refurbish things for his own use, and so on so yeah, Knuckles is finally getting his chance to find out that he doesn't have to be serious all the time. ....c'mon, show don't do this to me. The Sonic movies are goofy exciting fun that I like but it's making me realize that Sonic and Knuckles didn't really get to have ACTUAL FUN with other people for such a long time and these corny humans are giving them that chance. Also, the irony of Eggman being a human that wanted to kill Sonic and manipulated Knuckles yet characters like Tom and the others are interacting with the characters more than the whole Overlander drama stuff from the Archie comics. And speaking of Archie, I wouldn't at all be surprised if 'The Buyer' was in some way inspired by 'The Hunter' from the comics. Hunter even works with Eggman later on to try to capture Knuckles after his failure to hunt him the first time so yes, I don't see it being weird at all that Eggman would use some other sly way to try to capture these weird animals. I mean....you're....too.....positive. And fun. How dare you not only show how much you like this show but respectfully understand why others wouldn't and don't try to insult them for it. How dare you, sir!
I'm not against this series, but in the grand scheme of the Sonic cinematic universe, what was the point of this series? We didn't get enough focus on Knuckles learning to settle down on Earth. Wade doesn't learn much combat and his motive for training is meaningless because he was always good at bowling. The villains either die or vanish at the end. This series should have been about Knuckles training Wade in combat to become a better cop and Wade teaching Knuckles how to bowl. We can keep the moments with Wade's family (take Wanda down a few notches) and everything in The Flames of Disaster. I don't know how I feel about the Battleground in the Sky being literal Heaven instead of a euphemism for it.
@@darkpain2452yes knuckles went from pretty much forcing his way of life onto others, to learning to not only except that people do things differently then him but to appreciate earth cultures imo ep 1 knuckles and ep 6 are different characters and that’s great it means he developed
I love Wade's s-I mean Knuckles show because the Wade's- I mean Knuckles show talks about serious themes. Wade- I mean Knuckles is such a fun and engaging main character and followed up by his best friend Knuckl- I mean Wade. They just make such a good duo
I thought this was a joke when I saw the title Everyone Hates something and Mark doesn’t agree. I’d be impressed with the Irony if I wasn’t laughing so hard
trust me, dude. You are NOT the only one who enjoyed it. I just got finished watching it myself and I was HYPED! All the way through. Sure, towards the end, the focused more on Wade than Knuckles. But I love the overall message it brings, "A Warrior's strength lies in his heart" and shows how far both Wade AND Knuckles have come. Do I wish Knuckles had a bit more screen time? Of course I do. But we have to remember that they only had so much time AND FINANCE to make this. And personally, I think they did fantastic with what they were given. It gets me all the more pumped for Sonic the Hedgehog 3!
I haven't watched anything from the Sonic Movieverse but it's funny to me seeing the same "Sonic sitting in a car with some guy" shot but now it's "Knuckles sitting in a car with some guy". It's probably not "bad" but damn it looks sauceless as hell. I'm sure there will be discourse surrounding the "Shadow sitting in a car with some guy" show when that comes out too lol.
Sorry, but no, this is not on the same level as the movies, since: 1) Different writers 2) Not the same budget 3) Jeff Fowler wasn't involved after Episode 1. Also, sorry, but this show, unfortunately, did not provide its original purpose as a supposed "prequel" or something before watching the 3rd movie type of scenario. You liked it? That's cool! I'm glad you did! But, being honest here, story wise, and mostly something that was supposed to be connected to the movies, it didn't provide that lore we needed to know about the upcoming movie. Heck, in terms of where this is placed in the movie-verse timeline, is utterly confusing. Like, how did Wade, of all the other characters, was the human choice for Knuckles? If much and if this was supposed to be placed AFTER the 2nd movie, it would've made so much sense if they introduced it to us how Knuckles and Wade met in the first place AFTER the 2nd movie, because let's be real, *THEY DID NEVER MET* on the 2nd movie. The only character that actually spoke to Wade was Tails during the Longclaw's memory scene. Also, apart of the cringeworthy lines and comebacks from some characters, some of them were introduced so poorly, after what Episode 5 did to my sanity in terms of lore, I sincerely lost hope in this one. Plus, there were so many inappropriate jokes to a supposed show directed to kids. Yes, THAT scene with the metal detector was insane and it was so unnecessary. I do have my own positive thoughts about it, tho. Not everything has to be negative. We all know episode 1 is literally the best one, and Wade's mom is the best human character in this one. I love how she was handled since some females can relate to the whole "single mother takes care of her two kida after stupid dad abandoned them" and I personally loved how she took me by surprise with her fighting skills. Kid Cudi is a close second for some jokes he did, but everyone else was so poorly handled and yes, we all collectively hate Wanda and Pistol Pete, that's for sure. Again, this is just my humble opinion and positive contribution to this. There's always room for improvement. After all, that's what saved the movie Sonic verse in the first place, right? Have a good day! ❤
I think the goal of the series was jus to show knuckles having new home, the rest was decided along, i love the knuckles backstory its was very unique way, but the thing they trying to set up is the world apocalypse situation in sonic universe for that they need to set up elements of the world before they destroy everything or change in a extreme way like putting dozens new characters and storylines, uhm, the sonic movie 3 will be about shadow that was created by grandfather of robotnik
You're humble opinions were on point man. Thank you for expressing yourself. Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that metal detector moment was jaw-droppingly bad.
That’s fair you didn’t like it! But I don’t agree that it was advertised as a prequel! From what I saw it was the opposite? With interviews constantly stating this was not necessary to watch for the third movie and that it was meant as nothing more than some fun down-time to see what the characters are up to between adventures
@@LSMark Are you sure we saw the same interviews? Because I swear they told us to watch this to get context in regards to the 3rd movie, and I believe this could've been the perfect thing to give insight to help us understand more about the next movie. Also, that's the thing, they didn't... Do justice to Wade as a potential main character in this side show. That was my grip there, the "plot armor" was about bowling, without mentioning that as stated this was meant to be something about Knuckles WITH Wade, and all we saw was Wade alone in most of the episodes. If they named this Wade & Knuckles, it would make so much sense. Still, thanks for being honest with your review! I'm glad you like it!
@@darkpain2452 That's the problem there, it was NOT about Knuckles at ALL. It was about Wade, and they even failed at trying to do justice to Wade. I have a neutral opinion about Knuckles' backstory (as that was supposed to be a serious thing and not make a funny broadway play) but yeah, I see where are you coming with this.
My Review: Episodes 1-4 = Nice Episodes 5 and 6 = bad (With the exception of the parts where knuckles appears) One thing I loved was GUN's stronger presence, and how they talked about how some people view the fact that there are super powerful alien animals running around
I haven't seen much hate for this at all. I usually just see "it's fine, but it's mostly for kids so older people don't get too much enjoyment and it's a little too safe"
1:20 I’m getting better about going into things with this perspective and I find that when I do, not only am I less disappointed, I find myself having more fun. Usually. Some things (not including this show) are just flat out terrible.
@jskywalker58 well yes and no because this show is adapting a video game franchise, that doesn't mean you can just simply compare both because at the end of the day, one is a action packed video game series, the other one is a live action adventure TV show
@@Local-crackhead Yeah. Personally, I find this universe seems to adapt the characters to the real world rather than a traditional video game adaptation.
People are forgetting what the first two Sonic movies gave us because the premise of the third movie is gaslighting people into thinking this is going to be an action packed epic cinematic universe. In a way this might be something the producers need to look deeper into, I don't know what they have planned for the third movie but they might end up with a lot of controversy at this rate if they don't change up the formula. That or they need to be very specific in their advertising that this stuff is going to be like this so the people all the way in the back understand.
Its because they trying to adapt ours world as the world where will suffer apocalypse that create a society with others sonics friends all come to earth
I mean, the trailers never lied about any of the movies or the show and the marketing is pretty spot on to what they were. What were you guys expecting?
Well, idk if you know this, but this show has different writers and producers and less of a budget than the movies. That's why the movies did amazing and this show is getting mid reviews bc the show didn't have the same movie producers
This means the 3rd movie will most likely do good bc It will have the same writing. Also, the people at cenima Con, who got to see the early teaser, said it looked really good and shadow looked spot on, and the fight scenes looked like something from a anime. So I'm not really worried about the 3rd movie
I just finished watching the Knuckles Series and honestly it would have been better as a Movie but I Enjoyed it for the Most Part, sure Wade was the Main Focus but I knew that it would have been expensive to make a CGI Character the Main Focus in a Series but I have Fun and there’s surprisingly a lot of Sonic Easter Egg with Ivo Robotnik, the Flames of Disaster, and Shadow, IGN was right to put it a 8 out of 10.
I think the problem is that sonic fans hyped this idea after Sonic 2 that the movie series was gonna go closer to the games and add more characters and settings to it. I mean I understand it after Sonic 3 is really hyping the SA2 storyline, but they forgot to take realistic expectations based on the previous movies as well.
8:16 I have to agree with this point 100%. I watched the entirety of this series with my 8 year old sister and she thoroughly enjoyed watching the fun situations with wade and knuckles.
So... Being unhappy with something you didn't like, or left you disappointed is not okay? Sure... Because the writers are the one who made it to be, right? It's not the audience problem...
Honestly, I really liked The Knuckles Show. AND both Sonic movies. They weren't great, sure, but they were FUN. That seems to have been the goal for both the show and the movies: to have fun, and to make a fun movie.
I think that people forget that they cant just make a series for Sonic fans, it has to appeal to a broader audience I realized this in the wedding scene from the second movie, my family was having fun watching it, and then i realized, i can watch this with them and we can both have fun, i like the Sonic stuff, they enjoy the humans, i can enjoy a movie with my family that does not enjoy games that much without them feeling alienated It might be just a me thing, but overall, that made me enjoy these movies and the Knuckles series way more
Now I wouldn't call myself mean, I don't think it's a bad show, but I personally felt underwhelmed by it. Like there were some funny moments, but they lean way too much into the comedy. And while I enjoyed Knuckles and Wade bond together, I was left thinking I watched the "Wade Show" instead of the Knuckles Show that was advertised.
OMG is there any show you hate. It seems like you love every show that comes out. Learn to hate something for once in your life. This is always so positive! Yeah this feels weird
The show wasn't that bad. C'mon now, don't be rude. Don't tell people that something that they like shouldn't like. It's their own opinion not yours. Thinking about negative stuff is not healthy.
speaking honestly I really liked it, I loved the humour and actually liked Wade's story and felt really invested in his friendship with knuckles, its the best human character the series has done so far, afterwards i looked online and saw the critisim and now after thinking about it I would have loved to have seen a knuckles focuses series but my honest feeling when watching it was just enjoyment, I think now i realise theres a lot more knuckles I want to see makes me excited they will cover those stories in future adaptions of the series, plus the one issue i have about showing the journeys Knuckles was on before he met sonic and robotnik is that there might be little character development because he just had the simple warrior mindset but I'm excited for the 3rd film that will defiantly have the budget to showcase some lore we want to see and I hope the series keeps growing and telling not only those lore stories but different stories too,
Wade’s speech to Knuckles while he fights The Buyer off just really gets to me and idk why. It’s very cliche and obvious what’s going to happen, but like he’s a really good character, the guy’s so genuine and his journey and relationship with Knuckles was nice to watch. Guess it just made it that much better for me. It’s my favorite climax of the three projects which I totally wasn’t expecting. It’s gonna be a shame when I have to watch Knuckles get slammed into the cement pavement by Shadow because we gotta hype up the new force of nature by beating up the previous token strong guy.
I can see why so many "serious" Sonic fans would hate this show. But I personally can't bring myself to hate a piece of Sonic media that's so balls-to-the-wall insane that it featured Iblis from Sonic 06 singing about hitting up Facebook marketplace...
9:59 When I was watching I was a little bit mad that they killed off the villain because I was like "it's a kids show how are they going to murder somebody?" But then I remembered it looked like they murdered robotnik at the end of Sonic 2 but somehow he's still alive and also The Buyer was only in like 2 or 3 episodes so we don't care about him enough to be sad about his death.
The Knuckles Show is the pure embodiment of fun. I couldn't tell you how much I enjoyed episode 4 because it was so damn charming. Adam Pally as Wade has always been a favourite of mine in the movie series, and to see him interact so much with Knuckles was nice. They have a wonderful dynamic. They both have something each other wants. Knuckles is a brave and courageous warrior, but doesn't have a home. Wade has a home he can feel like himself, but lacks the confidence and strength. By the end of the series, Wade gives Knuckles a human perspective (like how Knuckles finds his favourite song or how Wade uses his Dad's lesson on victory to convince Knuckles that they did win) and Knuckles gives Wade the confidence to stand up in the face of real danger.
The video should be titled "My Thoughts on The Knuckles Show." "The Knuckles show isn't bad; you guys are mean." It's odd coming from a movie critic. While it's acceptable to disagree, attacking someone for insulting your favorite show won't fix anything. It's crucial to remember that not everyone will like everything, and insulting them won't solve the problem; it'll only exacerbate it.
Respectfully, I think the show is kinda bad tbh. Although I'll probably give it another go. I agree some people had unusual expectations. But I went in fully expecting it to be about bowling, and I still didn't think it was great.

I got more feelings for Knuckles's relationship with Wade's Mom than Wade himself, thats probably my biggest gripe with the series.
Even then, I do somewhat wish more had been done with that outside of the one episode. That bit where she goes to warn Wade about his father, for example. When I saw her walking through the hotel halls I thought she was going to see Knuckles so he could comfort her and maybe offer some advice on the situation. (almost) Everything Mark said in this video is exactly what I thought after watching it and what I told others about it. I even compared it to the Ted series like he did.
I'm with Mark for this
I personally thought it was good but the problems it has are
1. after the first three episodes it focuses primarily on wade while knuckles gets barely any screen time but to be fair the wade parts were still enjoyable
2. The main villain gets less screen time than random side characters and we never find out what his name is
3. The final fight was way to short and we spent more time on the bowling than the final battle
4. We never got to see pretzel lady react/find out that knuckles wasn’t in his room
5. While I like the music choices I think not having the knuckles rap get a reference was a disappointment
6. Not really a problem just more of a question why does knuckles have the flames of disaster and we’re also supposed to accept that wade a normal human broke himself free from a cage with his strength but then doesn’t use that strength ever again
They did say “The Buyer” like one time in the first episode (i think) but it’s really easy to miss.

GUN is ran by someone who seems actually mentally challenged based on the second movie so it’s not surprising

Putting it bluntly, mark, you said it yourself. You forgot Knuckles was even in the show *multiple times*, that it focused on human stuff and it just treats Knuckles as a side character
It can be extremely endearing.

How would they even write that?

Maybe like somewhere during Episode 3, the title changes from just "Knuckles" into "Wade & Knuckles" (the same way the final episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is titled "Captain America and the Winter Soldier" to signify Sam Wilson embracing the shield and identity)
It would be more fitting and funny since it's also a great way to exploit the "& Knuckles" meme

You do know there’s a difference between features and main focuses, right? People don’t like the human characters being the main focus.
I think Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be the film that really does focus on just the beloved video game characters... but we'll see
If it helps there’s an entirely different production team and writers working on Sonic 3 compared to this
Considering they finished shooting the film even with the Hollywood strikes, then that could only mean that the human stuff is kept to a minimum here… hopefully
You mean like Sonic 2?
@@matti.8465 I didn't really hear that when press for Sonic 2 was happening, more so that Knuckles would be in it
I anticipate more crap
I honestly enjoyed it, so I honestly don’t get why people hate it, finally there’s something I can agree with
Yeah I agree too
Yeah exactly right
I'm not against this series, but in the grand scheme of the Sonic cinematic universe, what was the point of this series? We didn't get enough focus on Knuckles learning to settle down on Earth. Wade doesn't learn much combat and his motive for training is meaningless because he was always good at bowling. The villains either die or vanish at the end. This series should have been about Knuckles training Wade in combat to become a better cop and Wade teaching Knuckles how to bowl. We can keep the moments with Wade's family (take Wanda down a few notches) and everything in The Flames of Disaster. I don't know how I feel about the Battleground in the Sky being literal Heaven instead of a euphemism for it.
Uhm, from my understand i think the goal of this, is to show knuckles has new home like sonic 1 in the movies
@@darkpain2452yes knuckles went from pretty much forcing his way of life onto others, to learning to not only except that people do things differently then him but to appreciate earth cultures
imo ep 1 knuckles and ep 6 are different characters and that’s great it means he developed
I love Wade's s-I mean Knuckles show because the Wade's- I mean Knuckles show talks about serious themes. Wade- I mean Knuckles is such a fun and engaging main character and followed up by his best friend Knuckl- I mean Wade. They just make such a good duo
I thought this was a joke when I saw the title
Everyone Hates something and Mark doesn’t agree.
2:46 And that's a problem, people are setting their expectations way too high excepting stuff like this when they're not actually in it
I haven't watched anything from the Sonic Movieverse but it's funny to me seeing the same "Sonic sitting in a car with some guy" shot but now it's "Knuckles sitting in a car with some guy". It's probably not "bad" but damn it looks sauceless as hell. I'm sure there will be discourse surrounding the "Shadow sitting in a car with some guy" show when that comes out too lol.
The only thing I look forward is adding that to the collage once 3 comes out.
Sorry, but no, this is not on the same level as the movies, since:
1) Different writers
2) Not the same budget
3) Jeff Fowler wasn't involved after Episode 1.
Clicked faster than Knuckles' fist.
My Review:
Episodes 1-4 = Nice
Episodes 5 and 6 = bad (With the exception of the parts where knuckles appears)
One thing I loved was GUN's stronger presence, and how they talked about how some people view the fact that there are super powerful alien animals running around
I have no idea where this running joke about knuckles liking grapes came from. Am I missing something?
I'm pretty sure that came from one of the older games. Or possibly SEGA releasing written material about Knuckles' favorite food being grapes.
I haven't seen much hate for this at all. I usually just see "it's fine, but it's mostly for kids so older people don't get too much enjoyment and it's a little too safe"
Imagine the knuckles series was just him and rouge doing a big heist like ocean 11 which leads to sonic 3 movie 😅.
0:00 is how i feel about Teen Titans go
*Sees title*
I was not expecting that.
But I was expecting not to expect something, so it doesn't count.
1:20 I’m getting better about going into things with this perspective and I find that when I do, not only am I less disappointed, I find myself having more fun. Usually. Some things (not including this show) are just flat out terrible.
Forgive me for not being particularly inclined towards sitting through 6 episodes of the most unfunny side character in the Sonic movies, Luhsmark.
As long as you forgive us for doing the exact opposite of what you just said.
@@hdbricks9492 of course
I think people get too into comparing the movie universe to the games. At this poin, they're borderline different franchises.
Its an adapation of the game franchises whether you guys like it or not it has a connection to the game franchise and we have a right to compare them.
So I'm not really worried about the 3rd movie
yeah, like advertising a Knuckles show and having people expecting... a Knuckles show. not a Wade show
I just finished watching the Knuckles Series and honestly it would have been better as a Movie but I Enjoyed it for the Most Part, sure Wade was the Main Focus but I knew that it would have been expensive to make a CGI Character the Main Focus in a Series but I have Fun and there’s surprisingly a lot of Sonic Easter Egg with Ivo Robotnik, the Flames of Disaster, and Shadow, IGN was right to put it a 8 out of 10.
Oh how the turns have tabled
Sonic fans are unhappy? What a surprise that grown adults take any form of Sonic media way too serious.
Meh that's only twitter. Everyone else I have seen is pretty level-headed about this.

So... Being unhappy with something you didn't like, or left you disappointed is not okay? Sure... Because the writers are the one who made it to be, right? It's not the audience problem...
It’s Knuckles and Knuckles is bae
Honestly, I really liked The Knuckles Show. AND both Sonic movies. They weren't great, sure, but they were FUN. That seems to have been the goal for both the show and the movies: to have fun, and to make a fun movie.
I think that people forget that they cant just make a series for Sonic fans, it has to appeal to a broader audience
I realized this in the wedding scene from the second movie, my family was having fun watching it, and then i realized, i can watch this with them and we can both have fun, i like the Sonic stuff, they enjoy the humans, i can enjoy a movie with my family that does not enjoy games that much without them feeling alienated
It might be just a me thing, but overall, that made me enjoy these movies and the Knuckles series way more
Now I wouldn't call myself mean, I don't think it's a bad show, but I personally felt underwhelmed by it. Like there were some funny moments, but they lean way too much into the comedy.
And while I enjoyed Knuckles and Wade bond together, I was left thinking I watched the "Wade Show" instead of the Knuckles Show that was advertised.
6 Year Anniversary of Avengers Infinity War and Maya The Bee 2.
My biggest gripe is that knuckles felt like a side character in his own show.
speaking honestly I really liked it, I loved the humour and actually liked Wade's story and felt really invested in his friendship with knuckles, its the best human character the series has done so far, afterwards i looked online and saw the critisim and now after thinking about it I would have loved to have seen a knuckles focuses series but my honest feeling when watching it was just enjoyment, I think now i realise theres a lot more knuckles I want to see makes me excited they will cover those stories in future adaptions of the series, plus the one issue i have about showing the journeys Knuckles was on before he met sonic and robotnik is that there might be little character development because he just had the simple warrior mindset but I'm excited for the 3rd film that will defiantly have the budget to showcase some lore we want to see and I hope the series keeps growing and telling not only those lore stories but different stories too,
3:12 WHAT!?
I’m in the “People HATE this show” section. What about everyone else?
Of course they do. Who would watch this
Me
Mark, that title is rich as hell coming from you
Wade’s speech to Knuckles while he fights The Buyer off just really gets to me and idk why.
“Dr. Gordon?” Please watch more movies, Mark. PLEASE
I can see why so many "serious" Sonic fans would hate this show. But I personally can't bring myself to hate a piece of Sonic media that's so balls-to-the-wall insane that it featured Iblis from Sonic 06 singing about hitting up Facebook marketplace...
…do we not like Sonic X here? I love Sonic X, that’s a good Sonic series 😢
Sonic X had mixed reception mainly because of 4kids dubbing and Chris Thorndyke being annoying to some people.

I honestly was enjoying the Knuckles movie so why people are hating it sometimes I agree with you LS Mark 👍
11:55 Knuckles has amazing taste in food.
