Yes during those years, the guitar tone for both SAKI and Hazuki is quite similar because Hazuki was on ESP while SAKI's always on Killer Guitar (KG) a brand co-founded by Akira Takasaki, whom also the biggest endorser of ESP in Japan. KG is like a sub-brand by ESP and specifically made for Japan's domestic market. After Hazuki sign an endorsement contract with Ibanez and using them, its much more noticable difference between them that their harmonies sounds 'complete' if you know what I mean. And now Hara-chan stepping up to complete Hazuki's sounds.
Nemophila Fridays was the best! Every week a mystery (cover or original) plus all the live streams. Nemophila was the only good thing during and to come out of the Pandemic
I've always given them the "Most Improved Band" accolade, basically going from covers to performing near or at the level of BandMaid and Lovebites in just 3 short years. Interesting fact (Wikipedia) "Nemophila played their first international concert in the United States at the Whisky a Go Go", YOYOKA's regular hangout.
I'm glad I saw Nemophila at the height of their powers at Budokan. I still love the band and hope Mayu recovers quickly and fully, but I'll always miss Saki.
They are still amazing, but when they lost SAKI they lost a lot. I'm sad to say 'Oiran' is over for me: it just doesn't work the same with the one guitar, IMO. I love Hara-chan, but the bass just doesn't fit that guitar-shaped hole. I really can't pick a favourite Nemophila cover, but the Foo Fighters 'Walk' video is special as that meant so much to Mayu.
