This is on the bucket list, to scuba dive for even half an hour. Watched Sea Hunt as a child. I wrote to Beau Bridges on FB telling him that I still watch the show. He wrote back. Couldn't believe it.
Thanks for reaching back to the Sea Hunt days. It is a great old show. I love shows like Sea Hunt and Dragnet had mostly stock actors. It was fun to see guys like Ken Drake play so many roles. It was just fun period to watch Jan Harrison!
By modern standards it seems a little hokey, but there was a wonderful sense of adventure in those shows and what I love about it is that it was good for the whole family. There is almost no "family friendly" programming anymore. Except Blue World of course.
Ive been scuba diving sense 1968 because of Sea hunt I have 160 episodes of Sea hunt Plus all 4 seasons Of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea i am 69 i am a Dive Master i am now living in the Philippines and Missouri USA ive dived on many Racks
As a kid I loved Sea Hunt. I always wanted to be like Mike Nelson exploring the bottom of the sea. Many years later, after a round of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, I thought what the heck am I awaiting for. I made it a goal that when I got through my treatment I would get certified. I now get to dive like Mike Nelson. BTW just passed 10 years cancer free.
I loved sea hunt. I especially liked the opening scene where Bridges is getting ready to enter the sea / water... ands yes the two hose air thing I thought was the best. so cool looking, now I'm 72. Yep. I Was 10 years old here in Orlando, FL in 1958. With lots of crystal clear lakes (back then) we played a lot of Sea Hunt. Years later, my jr high band director taught me how to use his S.C.U.B.A. gear. In highschool I worked for Hal Watts (world record deep dive holder) at his store in Orlando. Certifications came in and in 1968 Hal certified me. I used to do a lot of cave diving, wouldn't do it now, for over 10 years. We didn't have "BC's" back then. We used Clorox bottles with a hole cut in the side for exhaust air and attached it to our upper arms with a cord. Going up too fast. ... spill out some air. Need to go up. ... exhale more air in bottle. What memories. Gob bless Lloyd Bridges.
I still love to watch the reruns of sea hunt and how Mike Nelson ( Loyd Bridges) would save the day for places like Puerto Rico from Silver Spring's cracked me up 😆👍🏼 I still watch the show sometimes it's on at 4:00 am here in Florida . Silver Springs is nice but there are a lot of beautiful spring's in Fl . Where you can dive year round .

Mike Nelson usually had a lesson or two in most shows. I think instructors could use parts of Sea Hunts for classes. I especially liked the episode where he showed a balloon bursting during assent. He told his students their lungs would do the same thing if they held their breath going up.

You’re welcome 😊
Cool video as usual Jon. I always enjoy diversity in content, but I am really looking forward to the next classical BlueWorld episode where you cover a single sea creature
You don't have to wait long. Next month some big Tiger sharks! But we like to break it up and cover different stuff.
