Sea Hunt Forever | JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- From 1958 to 1961, Sea Hunt, starring Lloyd Bridges as underwater action hero Mike Nelson, was one of the most popular television programs in the world. It created a generation of diving enthusiasts. Today, the history of Sea Hunt and the vintage scuba gear of the era are celebrated at Sea Hunt Forever, a festival that takes place at Silver Springs State Park, Florida, the original site of much of the underwater filming for the TV program. Jonathan joins the fun at Sea Hunt Forever where he witnesses underwater knife fights, spear guns and even an underwater torch!
Jonathan Bird's Blue World is an Emmy Award-winning underwater science/adventure program that airs on public television in the United States.

They look so adorable! It’s like watching a whole flock of Jonathan Birds!
I love how these older guys are playing like children and just having extreme amounts of fun :)
Everyone is a kid inside!
You're never too old to learn new things and have fun.
Older??? 40s and 50s are older? Heaven knows what word you'd use for me at 66!
Men Never Grow up
@@BlueWorldTV No kidding!! I asked my to be husband on our THIRD date about the little boy inside him. ooohhhh? He says, "I threw that kid under the bus a long time ago"! I grinned to myself thinking oh honey, I am going to help you drag that poor boy out of the morgue, resuscitate him and marry him! So, I tell him an awful lot of times, I married a 12 year old!! That kid in all of us needs to be nurtured and loved. Laughing has to become our mainstay, my 12 year old husband. Marriage can be oh so much FUN!! If it isn't, get out of the relationship, accept that a great marriage takes tons of laughter to grow up together, and to make consistent bouts of laughter happen.
it's like cosplaying and roleplaying to sea hunt!
it's nerdier than comic-con!
Nerdy...but underwater nerdy!!
yeah it is
+BlueWorldTV lol
+BlueWorldTV did u eat "Toxic Waste"? DanTDM ate that on his challenge: Would You Rather With Sour Sweets.
There is a Term what they are doing it's LARPing. Live Action Role Play. One of the biggest LARP events that still goes on today would be the Civil War Re-enactment.
My brother in law is a navy seal. Graduated underwater demolition in the early 70s. He still has his double hose reg and obsolete dive helmet. He was fascinated with my new Magellin BC and 72 reg.
Blue World TV needs to get 1 million subs, because they deserve it!
I agree!
NO!!! They deserve more than 5 million
and more
Indeed
THEY DESERVE MORE BUT THANKS BTW
Ive been scuba diving sense 1968 because of Sea hunt
I have 160 episodes of Sea hunt
Plus all 4 seasons Of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea i am 69 i am a Dive Master i am now living in the Philippines and Missouri USA ive dived on many Racks
What did you just say
This is on the bucket list, to scuba dive for even half an hour. Watched Sea Hunt as a child. I wrote to Beau Bridges on FB telling him that I still watch the show. He wrote back. Couldn't believe it.
How he introduces himself at the beginning of his videos is the same way I introduce myself in casual conversation.
What good way for experienced divers to rejoice underwater times together.
Maybe be an annual event to commerinse?
As a kid I loved Sea Hunt. I always wanted to be like Mike Nelson exploring the bottom of the sea.
Many years later, after a round of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, I thought what the heck am I awaiting for. I made it a goal that when I got through my treatment I would get certified. I now get to dive like Mike Nelson.
BTW just passed 10 years cancer free.
Congratulations on both counts! Cancer sucks!
Underwater combat scenes were nicely choreographed and filmed. Worthy of 'Thunderball'.
This channel is so underrated. Absolutely spectacular.
Thanks, I really appreciate it!!
Dillon Cozac i
I live in albnia
I love thes world
Is soo cool
And i love the sea
The and
YA!!!!
Thanks for reaching back to the Sea Hunt days. It is a great old show. I love shows like Sea Hunt and Dragnet had mostly stock actors. It was fun to see guys like Ken Drake play so many roles. It was just fun period to watch Jan Harrison!
By modern standards it seems a little hokey, but there was a wonderful sense of adventure in those shows and what I love about it is that it was good for the whole family. There is almost no "family friendly" programming anymore. Except Blue World of course.
I watched this when I was younger (7 or8) 👍👍👍👍👍
That was awesome, I totally remember coming home each day from school and watching Sea Hunt
I used to always watch sea hunt, it was on my local channel at midnight when i was a kid, that and 12 oclock high. Awesome shows.
Looks like everybody was having a ball!!!
Talk about a bunch of adults re-living their lost youth!! Too fun!
Fun Fact, that place is also the location where “The Creature from the Black Lagon” was filmed.
Not too many people have seen that movie these days. That was before my time too!
@@BlueWorldTV Of course, I’ve seen the movie on DVD and it’s a great movie.
Who knows? Next time when you visit to that location, you might find The Creature
I still love to watch the reruns of sea hunt and how Mike Nelson ( Loyd Bridges) would save the day for places like Puerto Rico from Silver Spring's cracked me up 😆👍🏼 I still watch the show sometimes it's on at 4:00 am here in Florida . Silver Springs is nice but there are a lot of beautiful spring's in Fl . Where you can dive year round .
❤️ back at you ,thank's .
just want to say ive been subbed for years. just got into free diving snorkeling .....not competition stuff... and recently i subbed to dive talk who also shout you out... as one of the best under water cinematographers on our big blue world... and i have to concur with gus... your all a huge inspiration and your videos are truly incredible.
Thank you!!! Aw shucks!
I loved sea hunt. I especially liked the opening scene where Bridges is getting ready to enter the sea / water... ands yes the two hose air thing I thought was the best. so cool
looking, now I'm 72. Enjoying Jonathan Birds awesome exploit's blue world. awesome job MR. Bird. in fact all the people who are apart of Blue world are awesome putting these shows together. hard work, I get it, there is a lot of sacrifice on your part doing your job to produce these programs. away from home and family..
Thanks Jim. You are right, the travel can be hard on the family. But it's what I love to do. Life is short, follow your dreams!
Yep.
I Was 10 years old here in Orlando, FL in 1958. With lots of crystal clear lakes (back then) we played a lot of Sea Hunt.
Years later, my jr high band director taught me how to use his S.C.U.B.A. gear. In highschool I worked for Hal Watts (world record deep dive holder) at his store in Orlando. Certifications came in and in 1968 Hal certified me. I used to do a lot of cave diving, wouldn't do it now, for over 10 years. We didn't have "BC's" back then. We used Clorox bottles with a hole cut in the side for exhaust air and attached it to our upper arms with a cord. Going up too fast. ... spill out some air. Need to go up. ... exhale more air in bottle.
What memories. Gob bless Lloyd Bridges.
Wow, that's cool stuff! Back when diving was dangerous and that other thing was safe! LOL
Roger that. No one today wants the gift that keeps on giving.
Jonathan: “The hero saves the day with his super dangerous spear gun” Me: “What is that supposed to do? Scare of a fly?”
My life's dream is to explore the beautiful world beneath the water and I am trying to achieve that goal, all thanks to the amazing show you have. It has really inspired me, so thank you very much!
Mike Nelson usually had a lesson or two in most shows. I think instructors could use parts of Sea Hunts for classes. I especially liked the episode where he showed a balloon bursting during assent. He told his students their lungs would do the same thing if they held their breath going up.
Fantastic! Keeping traditions and re-enactments alive is one of the most exciting aspects of one's own culture, especially when nature gets a helping hand for conservation as a side effect. Thanks for the terrific video, Jonathan and team. Keep it up.
Thanks Jonathan, great story. I didn't make the festival as I was in the Red Sea doing my own "Sea Hunt". Looks like everyone had a great time.
New thing for my bucket list
Speargun that makes bubbles i thought it would have been a rubber spear still makes funny noise😅
6:27 fart gun XD
And Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea as well James Bond's Thunderball.
THAT IS THE COOLEST DIVING SUIT EVER.
That's what i thought too.
Jonathan bird may you live long to teach us more about the ocean.big love from kericho🇰🇪
This is my favorite episode
I am one of those inspired by Sea Hunt's Lloyd Bridges. At 65yrs I still carry a big knife! :)
Went diving 2 days ago in the dark murky waters of the Pacific NW.
Cindy Klenk
Buddy & I (65yr old) dive 7mm wetsuits in Oregon and Washington's Hoodsport waters. Sometimes it's a bit chilly, but we keep diving! :)
drmoynihan I
+ Cindy Klenk "I can't feel my mouth on the reg!"
I dive in Puget Sound with an Aqua~Lung Legend LX Supreme: the lip shield helps slow the flow of cold water across my lips. Still, I do get numb after a while. I may get a full-face mask at some point to solve that issue.
I can here the quartets of fish,and eels,singing.And youuuuuu,light up my life.🐳🐙🦈🐡🐠🐟🐬🐋🐚🦀🦐🦑🐌
Looks like fun!!!!!!!
Your videos are awesome... you deserve a million subscribers.
Thanks, I agree. But we are close to 100K!
hi
No He Deserves 1B subs
Keep making good videos eventually the word gets out and the subs start growing. Tell your friends to watch 👍

If it was not for blue world I would not have become a scuba diver.
This is what I like to hear!
Beluworld TV I loving videos
Dear Jonathan, I am a huge fan of yours. I love watching you. Would you make an episode on crabs?
Sure!! We can add that to the list.
Thanks, I love crabs!
BlueWorldTV hi next video can I get a Shoutout btw I bin a fan for a while
Maybe lobsters too
@@thebayoudiaries8389 careful how you say that
Sea Hunt got me into diving. I am at the SCUBA SHOW in long beach at this moment1
Wish I was there!!!!!
They are entering Zale Perry into the women divers hall of fame at a party tonight. She was the most prominent women diver on Sea Hunt. You should do a show on these ladies, They are a great organization.
Wow real scuba divers
I love your videos Jonathan! I started watching them about 2 years ago when I went on my first Shark cage dive. You actually inspired me to go on that dive and have sprung my interest of the ocean. 2 years later I still watch your videos and love them. Thanks bud and congrats on almost 100k subs you deserve it.
Thanks Griffin! I'm really happy to hear that! We are closing in on 100K!!
Indeed you are!
Lmao whats so funny is Lloyd Bridges was in Hot Shots Part Deux, and played the president, and then it turned out to be a prediction of our current IRL prez... lol
I love this videos and this is my favorite video!!!
i admire you and when i will grow up i will become a diver too. Its my dream
Looks like fun but to bad you can only dive once a year when it should be open all year as long as people keep it clean
I was about one years old and his third season and I remember as I got older even though I still little tyke I remember the show very vaguely sea hunt. Jonathan Bird has done a great job again of course he is probably from New England that’s why LOL!
Because us New Englanders are COOL! (Or maybe we are just used to cold?)
LOL I think we can handle the cold better and also the cold weather than most people can’t LOL! You are right that we are definitely cool that’s for sure! Also forgive me for being dyslexic I always get in trouble with my wife because I forget to edit my post!
I freaking love Sea Hunt! Such a great show!
07:19 If you've ever watched the creepy 'Legend Of The Mermaid' episode of Sea Hunt, that's the cave where the mermaid lived, luring divers to their deaths...
Downlink has been the year reyear was
Downlink Funny some of that was filmed in Tarpon Spring's Florida . So funny , I'm very close to that area and to see the difference in the film and what it is now around the bridge not that much different . LoL 😆😎🌴⛵️⚓️👍🏼 I love Tarpon Spring's Florida , the largest Greek population in the U.S. It's still a nice little town. Once the sponge capital of the world and sponge diving still goes on to this day ❤️
Beautiful , I can't believe you never mentioned Alec Pierce , He has the biggest collection of Sea Hunt ever . And he is a scuba maniac :-) . You have to make a video with him ... . Thank you for everything Johnathan .
You are right!
I used to watch sea hunt as a kid. I would sit a few inches from the TV screen and pretend I was there.... And yes I SCUBA dive today.
if you don't mind what level are you certified at?
open water, SSI. been diving about four years now.
+TheOldManEric ah, I'm thinking of going for my open water too with padi. are u going for ur advanced open water soon?
Had it for about 3 years now.... cant get out of the water!
but isn't scuba diving life threatening at times D: Want to take up Open water as well >.> but I'm scared to drown, run out of breathe, float up to the surface by some accident and die from Air embolism or get bitten by some shark or stung/stabbed by a jelly fish or ray. XD
That was a really funny dive, Mr. Bird
My dad teaches science I thought I’d show this to him and he said it was awesome. So he might show his fourth grade students this.
Hoping to attend sea hunt anniv soon😍
Hi Johnathan great fan of u love from india
Watching these videos makes ME want to learn to scuba dive! Love all the vintage equipment. Keep up the great work!
16mmDJ same here
I'm sure diving is always fun but this looked like a world of fun. Never seen people play games UNDER the water. They say every cool adult has a kid somewhere in him/her and this was both fun and funny to watch and listen to.
That whole thing is adults acting like kids. It's really hilarious and totally fun!
Do more do more do more
jonathan please come to finland to dive😀😀
I wanna do this and I've never seen the show
I’m planning on going there this year I’m a product of the sea hunt influince.
you always make my day jonathan

I would've been rendered catatonic if they play Star Wars and they use water current as the Force
6:09 I’ve never seen anybody dive with actual gasses under their mask, what a madman.
Those are corrective lenses glued to the inside of an old fashioned mask.
hi jonathan i wanted to tell u that u r doing an awsome work
and im a diver my self tommorow i gonna do 2 dives at 25meters and dont forget to keep up with the great work
Good for you!!!
Mike Nelson in those swimming briefs...I'm flushed.😳
LOL right???
That is so cool I'm 12 I wish I could go diving
That thumbnail broke the laws of Fires
Epiccccc
I know most of those divers. A good bunch of guys just out to have fun and enjoy the sport as it used to be. Raw and challenging. The push button divers of today couldn't hold a candle to them. Just my $.02
You gotta omit that double regulator is really cool and stylish
Awesome!!
I get to go diving this Saturday
very good video🖒
wooo hooooo
I am surprised hollywood hasn't attemped to reboot/reinterperet that show yet.
You deserve wayy more subs bro!
I agree+1like
TitoForReal leko
TitoForReal FOR DEFINET
I agree
411k subs is not too shabby!
Watch the ads. Jonathan and his team are doing us a huge favour. It's the least we can do.
Thanks! Yes, we need the money!! :-)
Cool video as usual Jon. I always enjoy diversity in content, but I am really looking forward to the next classical BlueWorld episode where you cover a single sea creature
You don't have to wait long. Next month some big Tiger sharks! But we like to break it up and cover different stuff.
you are very good.
good video.
I love it
Good
I used to go to silver springs a lot. It's very close to Ocala. I used to live very close to there. Silver springs was most enjoyable at Christmas.
A Magnesium fire is a delta fire. It means that it is virtually impossible to put it out.
I went to silver springs years ago for the Native American festival / powwow. Haven't been anymore since, and I only live 1.5 hrs away
LOVE IT!
Man i enjoyed this
I just discovered this channel and im binge watching all of the videos!!! I love it so much🧡✨and its 2020!!
Yay! Thank you!
Wish scuba mfrs would bring more reproduction scuba and snorkel gear out again maybe with modern materials, love Vintage scuba equipment and vid Awsome!
