It truly is epic and terrifying that it's been 10 years. Thank you to everyone who's worked on the game over the years and those who are still working on it now. Also, awesome work on this video, the chromakey and compositions were very nicely done :)
Just looked it up Splitsie, I started playing 23 Feb 2015. I think you started in 2014? I remember just a hand full of asteroids, and base building on the dark side of one, because the meteors came from the direction of the sun. Still have the blueprint of my first miner.
Yeah, I think I bought it April or May 2014. Those old bases I built in the '7 Asteroids' start are likely very long gone as I think the laptop I built them on was retired when the HDD died so I don't have any blueprints from that long ago
and so many of us wouldnt be here if it wasnt for you splitsie :) really appriciate everything youve done. (youve "wasted" so many hours of my life ;) )
Congrats Space Engineers. Its been a wild ride the last 10 years. From wondering what multiplayer would be like that first week of release to a decade later. What a blast.
only shame its tarnished by hearing how the studio behaved with medival engineers , or flat out took cash out of the sales for space engineers while it still was classed as 'early access' to start dev se2 egine , and in the 'spirit' of the medival engineers manner not even consider letting those that INVESTED in their first product have a copy of that i so badly want space engineers ,just fking more cpu friendly poolished cooding rather then fking ''founder cosmetics'' or dlc scenarios.. :/
Anyone else get nostalgia chills when seeing the rescue ship come down level to the platform and open its chunky door? Yeah, that was about 3000 hours ago 😂
Thank you and your team for hard work, and where quality is optional for others, for you wasnt. One of few still respected companies. Am patiently waiting for space engineers 2.
Same, the collision, and softbody physics is what grabbed me back them. I bought it in 2013, and have logged well over 16,000 hrs. of play. it is the only game in my entire steam library that has more than 3000 hrs. logged. I absolutely adored Space Engineers, and will continue to adore it, until I am no longer able to play it, which for me will be when I'm dead, or when PCs don't support it anymore, but hopefully by then, there will be a Space Engineers 2.
Getting to space for the first time-in a ship I designed and built myself, from materials I harvested and refined myself-still ranks as the most satisfying moment I've had in more than 40 years of gaming. Thanks so much for the journey these last 10 years.
You guys came out not long after we got married, so it has been fun having you be a part of our creative endeavors basically the entire time! Thanks for making a game to bring our machinima story to life, and thank you for asking us to be a part of Frostbite. Being a part of a game that has meant so much to our relationship is so fantastic. Congratulations on a decade! It was awesome watching this little showcase. We know how much work is going on in that background! And the change in the model as he ran? Awesome.
10 years? I still remember when Clang ate my very first small-grid space ship, like it was yesterday... All because i had used pistons to show or hide the machineguns... Now i use rotors on pistons and Clang isn't bothered at all... Thank you for making me feel old...
I remember my dad buying me that game, and me not sleeping of the night thinking of the cool stuff i'll build. Anyway I'm in computational physics, working on interstellar dust now. Thanks for the inspiration SE.
I only bought the game a few years ago thanks to Splitsie. I didn't realize how much the game had changed since the start. This was interesting to watch.
The only thing that would have made this video better would be if the engineer rubber banded back to the start....seeing as after 10 years its still and issue, just saying
This is the most amazing game I have ever had. 2514 hours since mid 2020, even made my own servers. With mods there are infinite possibilities. People have made horrorgames in this, I have made shooters and tank battle maps, and even made a server simulating a realistic world war on earth with orbital mechanics and space warfare included. I cant wait to see how far this game comes and I would really love to see more overhauls of multiplayer, game mechanics and physics!
I love this game, but the main problem of this game is, that i have no clue what to do if i built a ship and visited every planet. There is no goal i could go for.
The game indeed has a purpose/progression problem. It has no nether or end diamention with bosses u obtain from them (at a very basic level of progression u get the point they r bad examples but both r games with sandbox survival where u can do whatsver), it has no tiers of technology like satisfactory. Honnestly be so cool if there were ship battle dungeons u have to do to unlock certain tech and huge PvP servers or something. I was gonna purchase the dlcs for this game while on sale yesterday then was like… mmm no there’s nothing to do in it soon so there’s no reason for me to keep creating cool ships and even cooler ones with dlc items when I’m never going to use them for any purpose.
Me and my friends in survival duke it out test our awesome ships and take over the planet when were bored or for survival try the reaver mod so you and your friends can work together.
I deeply love this game, I just wish all that cosmetic DLC went on sale more often, or were bundled into a set that made it cheaper overall- like a large DLC of cosmetics. It's beautiful stuff, I just can't keep friends playing when they have to pay to get all the goodies at full cost.
Real ones remember the original asteroid field skybox... This game was way ahead of the curve. Remember how insane the hype was for Planets? I don't think I have ever been that excited for a game update ever.
MOST AMAZING GAME EVER But i wish they could combine space engenieers with medieval so u have to go throught time to went to space :D but still both games amazing and i love them spent many time on it cuz creativity is my music
Congrats Keen!!! Been playing off and on since Dec 7 2013, after watching Nerd Cubed's first look! No regrets and I cannot wait to see what you do next! Cheers
I remember first seeing someone talk about this game back in early alpha and thinking "man, that just looks like a weird minecraft knockoff." What a fool I was. I've been playing nearly a decade now and it is one of my favorite games of all time!
Though it has some of the same elements of minecraft, this Game blows Minecraft right out of the Stars. Like trying to fight a Tank, with a BB gun, lol.
This game is a true marvel. The potential for creativity is just mind-blowing. Can’t wait to see what you have in store with the new engine you’re working on ^^ Thanks a bunch for this compilation of awesome progress accompanied with some epic music! From a loving fan.
This is an amazing video, I read the description and know how much effort yall put into it and you have my applause because this game has truly grown into a masterpiece! 🎉🎉
thx for launch this on gamepass! now i can play I'm my phone with xcloud, it's my dream play this and now it's possible! I'm buying all dlc in the future to help this awesome game! 😸💜
After nearly 11 thousand hours of Space Engineers over a period of time that covers most of my time on this Earth I cannot possibly sing praises of this game good enough to do it justice. From solo vinalla creative to the hardest modded faction server this game, its devs, and its community outshines all others like it. For another ten years! Long live Spengies!
Congrats on 10 years! Hard to believe I've been playing long enough to remember ladders being officially supported at least twice! So many fun (and sometimes frustrating) hours in the game, here's to many more!
I found out about the game from EctoSage, and followed the link in his first video, saw KSH's promotional trailer, and bought the game sight on seen, not even knowing that it would get this good, or last very long. I even got my Father interested in this game before he died, his idea of gaming was an Atari 2600, or a Coin Operated Arcade. He and I made a connection that we lacked while I was growing up, Space Engineers brought us reconciliation, and a common interest that transcended the generation gap between us.
Well, this will make my job so much easier to find major updates for SE France Museum event (yes, we are back witth that idea and it will be awsome) but man... 10 years already ! And we still have to deal with Clang to build anything with pistons... there is still so much to do... welp, back to work
The current Band of online friends that i'm daily with on Discord( and before that on Teamspeak) i've met them after i've raided One of their bases on Mars 8 years ago ;p They where impressed by my Solo raiding of the place and asked me to join them. And we've been through so much shenanigans both in SE and out of SE ever since then. Been a year since i last launched SE, but SE will always be one of my favorites Games and i'm happy to see it still thriving after all this time.
I remember getting this game the day it hit early access in 2013, And I must say that the game has come a long way since then. I was even one of the many people that suggested content, Like the Survival Kit for example. And Keen Software House listened to it's player base, and still listens to this day, so many game developer companies become complacent, lazy, and greedy, and lose sight of the importance of listening to their customers, and all for the sake of increasing their bottom line, for the sake of profit, and greed. So far Keen, has not fallen into this familiar pattern. And I hope that they never do. Great work Keen Software House, I tip my hat off to you, as a company, in fond respect, and as a big fan of your work, and product. I'm just wondering, Will there be a Space Engineers 2? Or will you reopen work on your other project that as of late, has seemed to have fizzled, and has seemingly faded into almost total obscurity? I'm of course referring to "Medieval Engineers" that game had so much promise, but as far as I'm aware, development of that games has halted, because I've have seen no real updates or patches for it. Don't get me wrong, I love what you as game developers have produced so far, and wait with anticipation of future projects. I'm just wondering what's next, what will KSH produce beyond Space Engineers, you're defacto, flagship game it seems.
What a nostalgic video. The final scene with the plaque and the statue moved me. I thought about how this is not just a simple game, but a real constructive entertainment experience that has grown me and made me loyal to the game, meeting new friends, creating communities and servers. Love for SE
This game is fun, but what makes me so attatched, is it's potential. Their is only one problem with the game, exploration. In that there lacks a need, a motivation to go out. A interesting thing elsewhere. Like just at the top of my head, this could be alleviated with fabricators and not allowing the character to make advanced or even mid game blocks by hand. Personally, i think this by itself would bring the survival aspect of the game to life. I dont mean the plop down done kind. I mean the self made by the player so that blocks can have inherent value. A hyperdrive can be made on the spot, so it takes away from the feel. Basically, the player goes out to get ore, builds basic refinerys and assemblers and then makes components out of that. Except not to make a bigger refinery but a fabrication area that would grow as they go out and collect technology's. Want a hyperdrive? You gotta find a hyper core that can only be found in space. Want a bigger refinery? Steal an abandoned base's forge. Because of this process, the aquasition of advanced blocks will feel proper, similar to a deer trophy, just functional. The games foundation and core mechanics that are innately fun to interact with that's why i and so many others still love this game but it deserves to be so much more.
I remember first finding out about this game when the Yogscast did the few videos on it and from there I’ve always loved this game. Rather it be watching UA-camrs play it like Jack or Arron, or playing it on my PC or Console it will always have a place in my heart. It has been fun Space engineers, here’s to many many more years to come! (and hopefully less clang taking my ships)
Thank you guys so much. I have about 20k hours in this game according to steam. That is a dollar/ hour value that i will probably never match in my life ever again. Now if you'll excuse me, this video made me feel nostalgic, and I'm going to go play Space Engineers.
I haven't played much lately cuz every time I see all the dlc I want it but there is like 50 dollars worth now. Can you do a sale for the full DLC bundle soon? I'll pick it up.
10 years, and yet I still don't have my space cows. I will never be able to live my dream of being a space cowboy. Fr tho, still love this game and play it daily. I'm glad its finally on Gamepass. Much love to you at KSH from LNA
10 year hell man your first at the beginning of it I love SE I love the way it is going and I hope we gett more things in the game. Maby Tank Tracks or more planets or a reason to explore without getting your server fuckt because of lag... Well Nobody is perfekt so maby just some engen Updates If it is possible. IAM not a programmer so plus don't take this as a attack I love SE and I love the work you guys are doing at KSH you guys do a good job !
Been playing space engineers on and off for the last 6-8 years I think. My first laptop could barely run on planets and now I've invested, I can truly see what space engineers has become. Not just as a game but a brilliant community which is unfortunately rare in gaming nowadays. A brilliantly underrated game, looking forward to future updates from everyone at Keen.
I just came back to this game a couple days ago after a couple year's away from it. I want to say congratulations on the 10 year anniversary!🎉 This game is definitely a unique & amazing experience.🚀
Wow, you got me really interested. That's a nice idea for a video showing the progress of your game! Gonna check it out tomorrow. And this guy is really impressive, running for 10 years straight without a breather haha
I remember trying to play on a terrible computer back when the game first came out. Great memories, going at 10 frames really helps improve the vastness of space. Rip to many banana starter ships!
Getting flashbacks to when I designed my first ship almost a decade ago. It's still out there, floating in the void of space, because I didn't know I needed a gyroscope or braking thrusters.
Please overhaul the animations and unclutter the G menu! :) All said good game. Space engineers is the game we all thought about as kids in class thinking up the "game where you can do everything". GG!
I have no words to describe how much I love this game and how much I love this beautiful company, which in addition to producing my favorite game, has been gaining the recognition it deserves So, thank you so much to all the amazing developers involved in the production of this wonderful game! you all deserve it ♡
Wow. I discovered the game the last year or so ... I can't wait to see what the future brings for this game. So far, it has been a pleasure. It is an amazing game ... Keep up the great work!!❤
I still love this game til this day, with my 5 years of playing I haven’t stopped once, I love it too much. I’m so glad she’s still up and kicking she’s a brilliant game
I have over 2000 hours played on this game from 2013 to 2018 Stopped playing most thing when i had my first child, i still brought every bit of dlc you brought out tyo support an amazing team with a great game. Congrats guys!
I'm happy that this game is celebrating so many years. I always wanted to play it, I just wish that at least the Xbox one could play with more people than 4.
Wow, it has been a while. From asteroids, to planets, to graphic overhauls and so much more. I booted the game up for the first time in late 2015, and I've loved it since. I built so many things from odd flying brick to near future warp ships. It really has been a blast. Here's to many more years of success and advancement!
Playing on HC server right now.. enjoying the shit out of it. The first atmo the first space trip, the first jump and soon I imagine if everyone is close to me in production the first fight.
It truly is epic and terrifying that it's been 10 years. Thank you to everyone who's worked on the game over the years and those who are still working on it now.

@@Amoth_oth_ras_shashwow some people just can't see the bright side can they? just calm down especially on a celebration video!

Yeah, that was about 3000 hours ago 😂
12500 hours for me. 😂 Cheers!

I'm curious if the Red colony will ever be released? I love city builds in Space Engineers and need to take a closer look at it!

Absolutely right. Many thanks to you and the people who made this whole thing possible.
That early trailer of the ships ramming each other was why I got into the game in the first place, it's come so far!

bro 16k hrs is insane, what would one even do for 16k hrs in one game lol@@MeganFoxx426
Space Engineers has come so far!!! This is a very neat and creative way to showcase the SE eras. Well done 🙂

Me: Oh, I stopped playing recently, there cant have been many changes since then... Wait, its been HOW many years since 2018?
Wow, you got me really interested. That's a nice idea for a video showing the progress of your game! Gonna check it out tomorrow.
And this guy is really impressive, running for 10 years straight without a breather haha
Thank you Keen for this amazing game! Here's hoping Space Engineers 2 will be a worthy successor
You have added and changed so much. Just recently I tried to play this game again and was utterly confused how to begin. :D
Congrats! Buying the game now, I've tested the alpha in 2013 with a friend and now we are going back!
WOOOOOT WTG!!!!!! looking forward to what comes in the next 10 years!!!
Hard to describe the total impact this game has had on me. Excited for whatever the next steps are.
Please overhaul the animations and unclutter the G menu! :) All said good game. Space engineers is the game we all thought about as kids in class thinking up the "game where you can do everything". GG!
I have no words to describe how much I love this game and how much I love this beautiful company, which in addition to producing my favorite game, has been gaining the recognition it deserves
So, thank you so much to all the amazing developers involved in the production of this wonderful game! you all deserve it ♡
Wow it’s amazing to see how far this game has come since launch 10 years ago. Happy anniversary Space Engineers!
Excellent , Wonderful game , 95% of my time is playing this , Congrats SE
Now i feel old. Thanks guys. For sticking around. See you when I'm older yet again!
Wow. I discovered the game the last year or so ... I can't wait to see what the future brings for this game. So far, it has been a pleasure. It is an amazing game ... Keep up the great work!!❤
10 fun years, can’t believe I was barely 11 when I first got a physical copy and of SE, here’s to another 10 years everyone!
I still love this game til this day, with my 5 years of playing I haven’t stopped once, I love it too much. I’m so glad she’s still up and kicking she’s a brilliant game

Same here, I own all the DLC. this game is truly worth every penny spent on it.
@MeganFoxx426 agreed I paid I think £15 for the base game? Best value for money ever!!
Great dev team!! Have always love SE and always will! Cheers and looking forward to what comes next!
I'm happy that this game is celebrating so many years. I always wanted to play it, I just wish that at least the Xbox one could play with more people than 4.
I salute you, fellow engineers.
one of the best game. I'll give it 9.8/10 as a plumber it's fun to work with pipes and come home and do the same thing
Imagine how the community would have reacted if at the end of the video they officially announced Space Engineers 2 or something like that.
One of my favourite games since the beginning of my Journey in 2014
Wow, it has been a while. From asteroids, to planets, to graphic overhauls and so much more. I booted the game up for the first time in late 2015, and I've loved it since.
I built so many things from odd flying brick to near future warp ships. It really has been a blast.
Here's to many more years of success and advancement!
Dang it feels like yesterday when I got space engineers for the first time. Congratulations Space Engineers team🎉
Playing on HC server right now.. enjoying the shit out of it. The first atmo the first space trip, the first jump and soon I imagine if everyone is close to me in production the first fight.
