    I lost my best good little buddy, my kitty Sterling, who I rescued from a fox when he was a baby kitten. He was born in the woods near the house that I bought three years ago, spent every single day by my side from then till now, but he just had a run in with a cottonmouth and I wasnt able to get him to a hospital with antivenom in time. Thank you for the episode! I especially loved your analogy of a Vikings fan experiencing excitement like a person approaches a tiger for pets. What a great visual 😅😂
    The Cowboys and the Ravens are bad teams right now. Dallas can't run the ball AND can't stop the run. Good teams can mask up one deficiency, but not BOTH. Their opponents now have a SPAM button that they can mash repeatedly on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys are a one dimensional team on both sides of the ball. It's easier to defend against the pass when you don't have to worry about the run game.
    Sure, the Ravens nearly beat the Chiefs, but they can't be trusted with a 10+ point lead in the 4th Quarter. Over the last few years the majority of their losses have come from snatching defeat out of the mouth of victory. You can recover from consistently bad 1st or 2nd Quarters, not so in the final Quarter. Couple that with a 2-game deficit, questions on their O-line, and other little things, I believe that it will add up.
    The Detroit Lions will be threatened the most by whoever wins Sunday. I can't trust the Vikings defense until I see them against the Jordan Love led Packers (if Malik Willis starts, then I want to see the Vikings face an offense that can win a game with either running OR passing like the Lions). Flores has faced (admittedly great) young QBs who didn't have their bell cow RB available for the game. Jordan Love, after getting thrashed in the first meeting, seemed to have figured out Flores' defense in the second matchup. The passing game will be elevated with Jordan Love in the game. The Packers, against one of the better run defense teams in the Titans, still ran for over 180 yards. I think that the Vikings offense is legit, so if they can beat the Packers on Sunday I think that they are the favorites to win the division (although my heart will be screaming that it's still the Packers).
    Again, thank you for a great episode!

    Some North American ornithology raptor info lol: Eagles are the largest by far with golden eagles being significantly larger/stronger than bald eagles. Hawks are the next largest with many more species compared to eagles and ranging widely in size with the ferruginous hawk followed by the rough legged hawk as being the largest hawk species and easily misidentified as eagles from longer distances. The sharp shinned hawk is the smallest and is about the size of a blue jay. Falcons species are the smallest on average with the uncommon gyrfalcon (rhymes with beer falcon) being the largest. The very common American Kestral is the smallest being about the size of a mourning dove. It mainly eats large bugs (grasshoppers) and mice but will take small songbirds such as sparrows. The peregrine falcon is in the middle being the world’s fastest bird in a dive (in a stoop) and is about the size of a crow. Now you know 😏

    @FoxtrotYouniform 14 годин тому

    I don't think there's anything wrong with judging Darnold based exclusively off what he has done this season and putting previous years out of your mind entirely. I think the best lessen out of the NFCN this year is the true value of coaching. The Packers, Lions, and Vikings - they have it. The Bears, they dont. That said, perhaps Darnold really did find himself in position to be an outlier. Lets be generous and presume that is the case - then, which team has the best potential of the current NFCN big three?
    e: added question: does the performance of guys like Willis and Darnold change Jack's mind on the value of coaching?

    I think its fair to say Detroit hasn't been that impressive, but I think you also have to acknowledge that their Defense has arrived. PFF has them as 3rd in overall defense... just behind Seattle and Pittsburgh. #2 against the run. #3 Pass rush.
    Also, while Goff has played poorly, our run game has been exceptional. I think Goff will figure things out... in the mean time we'll just keep winning games by running it down people throats.

      As a Packer fan I’ve got to agree. I don’t think Love will get rolling like the end of last season for another 2 or 3 games. By then Vikings will be a minimum of 2 maybe 3 games ahead of us. Packers will have to be extremely good second half of season. I’m assuming the Vikings are going to beat the Packers this Sunday. If the Packers win I’ll have to pleasantly walk back my somewhat pessimistic assessment of Love.

    • @JJB_80_815
      @JJB_80_815 15 годин тому +1

      The Vikings defense didn't face the 49ers or the Texans top RB. Also, both Purdy and Stroud are younger QBs which haven't seen as many exotic defenses as older QBs like Goff. Jordan Love, while being a recent start, has been in the league since 2020, sharing the film room with the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Matt Lafluer.
      While I believe that the Vikings defense is really good, I need to see them face an offense that can beat you multiple ways before I can crown them as great. I HOPE that I don't have to do that. 😅😅😅

    • @petervaichus6978
      @petervaichus6978 12 годин тому +1

      @@JJB_80_815 - granted, but the new RB for the Niners ran for 146 yards in their first game and the Vikings easily won the game. The Packers played two of the most error prone QBs in the league in Richardson and Levis. The home field advantage is 3 pts. and the spread is the Packers -2.5…so the Vikings are actually favored by a whisker. With Love just coming back from a knee injury it’s going to be hard to win this game unless the GB defense really dominates. Pulling for them to win regardless of the analysis. GPG!!

      @JJB_80_815 4 години тому

      @@petervaichus6978 Yeah, I don't know who's going to win, and YES, the Packers have faced 2 straight bad QBs. As a Packers fan, my glimmer of hope is that the running game opens up the passing game and Jordan Love repeats his last performance against the Vikings D while our D picks off Darnold at least once. I'm also hoping that the offense develops a lot more unscouted looks with Jordan Love coming back, confusing BF's defense. Make no mistake, I'm not taking the Vikings lightly, I'm just trying to think good thoughts so I don't overstress this week. 😅 Go Pack Go!

    • @ThePaulFarringtonShow
      @ThePaulFarringtonShow  21 годину тому +1

      The game was close because, as it’s been all season, the fundamental analytics of the Seahawks offense and defense do not suggest they’ve been that much better than the teams they’ve played, and the teams they’ve played have been 3 of the worst teams in the NFL. The Seahawks had one positive impactful play all game on offense, and it was DK Metcalf getting a play that’s unlikely to be repeated. They’re a fine, mid-level NFL team. But we have not gotten evidence that they’re one of the NFL’s elite.

These "fundamentals" must be really weird if actual metrics used to analyze football and the PFF ratings all say youre dead wrong.
      This much refusal to simply adjust to new info is a bad look for everyone involved. marrying it to glazing the cards for being worse at every part of football by every metric makes it genuinely eyerollingly bad.

      @@mrsmartypants_1 While I'd be happy for the great people who are Vikings' fans, I will continue to fear the obnoxious @$$holes that would sprout forth from the world to proclaim their belligerence across the cosmos. Power corrupts, as seen by some loud Detroit Lions fans after they made the NFC Championship game. THAT was something that I never had to deal with before and I can only imagine how painful hearing the vitriol spewed from Super Bowl champion rivals would be... 😅

      @@JJB_80_815 Football fans can definitely take it way too far especially when mixed with alcohol. Football is kind of a simulation battlefield and it overexcites the “reptilian” part of our brain in some folks while numbing our logical part. Stay safe out there 🤣. Why I like the 3 guys on this show so much, besides their knowledge, is they’re passionate about football but you also know they are good sports and good people.
