Hi Michael, That opener, Left End, sounded great. 50 years on, these records have stood the test of time. Cassette players and speakers for our cars were coming into their own, riding around blasting this music was a good time! Good video, sir. Thanks.

Hi Ralph, it's amazing how good these albums still sound, and you're right, they have stood the test of time. Some of my best memories are that of riding around with my friends blasting the Who's Won't Get Fooled Again on the car stereo. Being a teenager back in the 70's was awesome! Thanks for the cool comment and take care.

Hi Ian, I loved Be Bop Deluxe, saw them several times. Bill Nelson is shamefully under rated. Red and USA are King Crimson's best albums of the 70s. Thanks for tuning in Ian, hope you are doing well!

Hi Craig, Left End was a local band in Cleveland Ohio who only released one album, and it's scarce even in the States. You can probably stream it on UA-cam if you'd like to hear the full album. Yes, 1974 had a lot of great LPs, I had the first Rush album, but need to get it back in the collection. Thanks for your comment and Cheers to you as well my friend!

Hi Michael, love that Gong album. I was just thinking last week why doesn’t Steve Hillage’s solo work get any love in the vinyl community? Great showing, take care😀

I actually don't have any Steve Hillage solo albums, I just really like his work on the Gong albums he played on. I'll be looking for his solo albums, do you have any suggestions? Thanks for tuning in.

I saw the Sparks on American Bandstand and they performed songs from that album, fell in love with them. Love that album but really never got into them. I bought Kimmno album and a couple others but now I can take them only in small doses lol. I have seen that Space Rangers albums a few times now, great cover Stay cool Michael

I saw Sparks on American Bandstand too, but it was a few years earlier for their A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing LP, and I went out and bought the album the next day. By the 80s though, I lost interest in them. Thanks for tuning in Steve, hope you have a good week.

Man this was a good one! You sent me that Left End LP way back a couple years ago or so! I love it totally hard rocking glam! Thank you again!
I have quite a few of the records you shared in this one! That Big Star album is awesome!
I have a Utopia LP but if I remember right it’s more power pop so it must be after the one you showed.
Man I love that GFR album! Mine still has the 3D glasses but they aren’t attached but Im just glad they were in there Love the 3D cover and didn’t it come with a 3D poster too? I know the one I have has a poster. Locomotion was a song that has cool memories for me as a young kid of 8-9 yrs old!
You’re spot on with the Space Rangers LP! NMW band is so great! I like their cover of 8 Miles High even better than the original! I recently picked up the other album Kryptonite and showed em both in a video not too long ago. I played those albums back to back for like a week! LoL!
Maybe Paul’s brother should’ve used his McCartney last name and the album would’ve sold better Haha! A little nepotism never hurt anyone! LoL!
That Hawkwind record was my first HW LP I ever bought! I love it!
How I don’t own any Gong in the Cosmic Collection is a mystery! Geez I need to get on the ball!
What is a good Cap Beefheart album to get besides Safe/Milk & Trout Mask? And why? Becuz I only have Safe/Milk but if he has other stuff that’s good I’m in!
So glad you showed that BeBop Deluxe! I love that record! I need to get the one you showed in your 1975 video. I’m digging their vibe! Another killer video from Near Wild Heaven! Peace Brother! ⚡️🖖👽⚡️

I have 2 copies of that Left End album, I found another copy after I sent that one to you and it has a DJ sticker on the front but not a white label promo. The Utopia album was their first, very prog rock and spacey, I think you have their album Oops Wrong Planet, which is their pop album. I was inspired by you to seek out those Neil Merryweather albums, I love both of those, just amazing stuff. Captain Beefheart"s album, The Spotlight Kid is pretty good, not too weird, maybe close to the Milk album in sound, you might also check out some of his later 80s albums like Doc at the Radar Station, and Ice Cream for Crow. Gong has some live albums which are awesome, but I'm looking for their Flying Teapot album from the early 70s, never seen it in the wild. Be Bop was my fave jam back in the day, saw them a few times, once when they opened for Blue Oyster Cult, and another time I saw them they were headlining and Cheap Trick was the opening act. Thanks for the comments Brian, and see you on your next video!

Gong were connected to the Canterbury scene, mainly due to the fact that Daevid Allen (who was Australian) was in Soft Machine for about 10 minutes, but they were Anglo-French. Also Canterbury is nowhere near London. 🙂

Hey Michael, 1974? Hmmm... we're into the part of the 1970s that gets less interesting for me. Of course there were some good things coming out. I have, or have had several albums here, and some I don't know. I'm not a Big Star fan, over rated IMO. With all the hoopla about them, I was disappointed when I sampled their LPs. My favorite track on Odds & Sods is, Naked Eye. It's especially good live. I have that Neil Merriweather album, and the earlier one on Capitol with the bare feet cover. Check out the first Mike McGear solo album. It has a picture of Mary McCartney on the cover. It's less commercial than his 2nd LP, and not issued in the states. I'll tell ya, It's been hotter 🔥than a CAMELS BALL SACK here in Phoenix. Come to Phoenix! It's a dry heat, but so is a Nuclear Reactor. 🐪🐪🐪

I was into Big Star before all the hoopla, when I found one of their albums at a record show in the 70s. I have a Who bootleg with Naked Eye, and it rocks more than the studio version. I'll keep an eye peeled for the Neil Merryweather LP on Capitol, I also have his Kryptonite album. Didn't know about McGear's other album, I'll definitely check it out. Have you heard of the Bit A Sweet? I just picked up their album on ABC Records from 1968 I think, kind of psych and psych pop mix, and they do a cool version of George Harrison's If I Needed Someone, but it's credited to Lennon/McCartney! Don't know if I could handle the Phoenix Heat, it gets hot here in Northeastern Ohio, but it's a humid heat and wears you down if you're out in it too long. Thanks for tuning in Ron, stay KEWL!!

@@nearwildheaven4840 Bit A Sweet? Yes, I know about that one. It's on my want list. That was a good find. I can't ever remember seeing one. It's monsoon season, so some rain should be on it's way. We already had some rain not too long ago. ⛈🌧☔

I've visited a few of your posts before but today I came here again because Dave The Pick Up Artist mentioned you.
I am a huge Grand Funk fan and I agree that when Shinin' On came out, that album really surprised me because it was a beginning of a change for them.
Carry Me Through and Gettin' Over You are my favorites from that album. That's pretty sad, only 2 songs for me compared to almost all their songs before this album came out. BUT they should have put Destitute and losin' on the album which is pretty good and discarded The Loco-motion.

    • @nearwildheaven4840
      @nearwildheaven4840  3 місяці тому

I agree with you on the Loco Motion, Shinin' On would have been much better without it. Maybe they were trying to widen their audience by recording that song, but for whatever reason, it didn't work. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, I really appreciate it.
