Whoever decided to ask Claire back for this deserves a raise, absolutely adore Olivia but Claire made the show into what it is
It must be Peter Morgan himself!!
Fun fact from the official podcast: they actually shot this scene in England during winter (sub-zero temperatures on that day), so although it looks like it's a warm South African summer day, Claire was actually freezing!
I did a little yell when Claire suddenly showed up in this episode.
So did I 😁
I noticed her immediately from the far shot and I screamed. I'm a guy.
SAMEE I MISS HER
sad for me, i had known that claire would appear in season 4 before i watched it
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. As soon as I saw her, I did the exact same thing!
I would love a dream sequence in the final season where the eldest version of the queen is visited by Claire Foy and Olivia Coleman's versions. 😍
I’d love to see that, if they agree to it.
Here's another suggestion.
If Season 6 brings us to the present day which I am very much hoping, I hope it goes down like this.
On the day of the late Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, Elizabeth is looking at the honor guards at the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle from the Private Apartments. Then she sits for a moment and hears echoes of the different pivotal conversations and quotes from Seasons 1 to 4. Then Imelda Staunton walks up to a large mirror in the room and sees Claire Foy dressed up in the same clothes she wore when she was talking to her grandmother Queen Mary of Teck during the episode Act of God, and Olivia Colman wearing the same clothes on the episode War where she scolds Prince Charles about his planned divorce with Diana.
Then, the echo of Queen Mary's voice saying "the Crown must win, must always, win" comes in as Elizabeth heads to the door to prepare for the funeral. Then the combined voices of Matt Smith, Tobias Menzies and Jonathan Pryce say in a ghostly echo "Always two steps behind you cabbage."
She takes one last look in the mirror and the real Elizabeth II is reflected (making her first official cameo though I doubt that will happen but it could be cool) before she walks away.
And the final echo is faint saying "God Save the Queen."
@@jonnnyren6245 season 5 will cover the 90s which is basically a war zone for the writers no way will they reach present day
I hope the final season Olivia Coleman and Claire Foy gets to appear in flashbacks as well
@@jonnnyren6245 bitch thats really good!
Olivia Coleman is awesome but Claire Foy absolutely nails the voice :)
wow. I thought they used the queen's real voice
i hate that voice
“I declare before you all, that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service, and to the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”
Think what you want about the woman, but she has kept her word. That is admirable in my eyes. People should learn from that.
I always remember this line 💛
And a DAMN good job she did too. May she rest well.
And long indeed it was, Your Majesty, may you Rest In Peace! 😭🥹👑
@@carltrotter7622 I still can't believe she's really gone! I thought she would live to be over 100 like her mother did and then Britain 🇬🇧would have its first centenarian monarch👑and we would celebrate her 100th birthday 🎁🎂🎉 but sadly it wasn't to be. Life can be so cruel sometimes!
Less than 3 minutes in the episode and she got an emmy nomination. The power she has🙌
And won.
@@zenethlaxa2359 queen thing
I am glad they added her famous speech in the series.
The black Africans were not included in the Commonwealth, painfully excluded. Apartheid.
I like how ironic the speech was showing all as equals but in reality the British empire and early Commonwealth was extremely racist and white supremist
And now she is nominated yet again for an Emmy, for this appearance!
And she won
And she won lmfao
At the end of the second Elizabethan era, the Queen taught us how to stick to duty. Even 2 days before her death she appointed the new PM, DUTY and THE CROWN was paramount till the end, and that tells us how seriously she took this speech. RIP Elizabeth Regina, the greatest Queen of the United Kingdom, we shall miss the bright colored little figure of authority on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The monarchy would never be the same again!
We truly lived during the second Elizabethan age. How lucky we were
Greatest Queen of England - Elizabeth the First, Greatest Queen of the United Kingdom - Elizabeth the Second. Something about the name Elizabeth
Under Elizabeth we saw only the decline of Britain
A weak ruler
@@dontstopmeow5757how?
@@dontstopmeow5757Elizabeth the first defeated the Spanish
Elizabeth the second lost all Britains colonies and let Britain be swarmed with mass immigration and destroyed from inside out
When Margaret said "[shushes]", I felt that. Such eloquent writing, couldn't have put it better myself if I tried
Omg 😂😂
After the queen has now passed away this speach is so inspirational
😔
Our queen.
People asking how she won an Emmy even when we couldn’t see her face for most of the clip fail to realize that voice counts as well. Listen to her speech and then go listen to QEII’s speech. Barely a difference, she’s tailored her own voice to match the depth, accent and tremor of the original. She even spells the words the exact same way
She WON a EMMY for this scene, a living LEGEND!
I think she won the Emmy in the previous season while She was the lead. Here she was only for one scene
@@anneneville6255 No, she literally won an Emmy for this episode. She won back in 2021 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. She is a legend!
Love how they introduced young Margaret Thatcher!
this is absolutely the best tribute after the queen’s death…
This hits different after they announced the death of the actual Queen. A long life of devotion indeed
She kept her promise. RIP.
This scene hits different now that she has passed. Really truly shows the kind of person and leader she was even before she inherited the throne. Truly has lead until the end of her life. Long live the Queen, and now God Save the King.
And now She has won the Emmy for best guest actress in a drama series.... ICONIC
It was one of the great episode prologues of this show, one which highlights the similarities and differences of the future Queen and future Prime Minister: both the same age and sex, one born into first in line to the throne, the other born from almost nothing; one burdened with conforming to traditions of the past, the other bolstered with bold ideas of change for the future.
Here as they come of age, Princess Elizabeth aspires to serve an empire committed to unity and solidarity, while Margaret Roberts aspires to serve a party committed to self-reliance and prosperity. The two future leaders have clearly different futures ahead of them, where their roles are set in motion to confront one another’s vision without either knowing what lies ahead.
Such a interesting comment 👌🏼
This was a lovely surprise 😊
Claire got nominated for an Emmy for this scene alone!
Here's the opening of the speech, which is unfortunately left out of this excerpt: “On this, the occasion of my 21st birthday, I welcome the opportunity to speak to all the people of the British Commonwealth and Empire, wherever they live, whatever race they come from, and whatever language they speak. As I speak to you today from Capetown, I am 6,000 miles from the country where I was born - but I’m certainly not 6,000 miles from home. That is the great privilege of belonging to our place in the worldwide Commonwealth. There are homes ready to welcome us in every continent of the earth…"
This speech has come full circle ⭕ RIP to the Queen.
I was so excited when Claire Foy showed up in this season!
this scene with young princess elizabeth and young margaret thatcher gives me goosebumps it's crazy
And the late her Majesty did live her life with all devotion and dedication to her promise. RIP Queen Elisabeth.
I was so excited to see her again. I love Claire Foy
The minute I saw Claire Foy and that it was shot here in Cape town, I jumped like a little child 😭😍😍😍
Iconic moment. Rest in peace. And for one final time:
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
It’s so crazy to see how big and expansive the British empire/commonwealth is, people all from different countries, races, religions, languages. The cinematography in this scene is so well done to prove this point. Average everyday people under the reign of the British.
but the US has surpassed Britain in power and influence
@@AW-zk5qb the US wishes they had the global influence Britain did and the US is a by product of the British
Colonialism. I'm glad that nonsense is over.
@@Lotsielots No it is not colonialism. It is neo-colonialism ( AKA colonialism 2.0)
@@Lotsielots yeah, because colonialism wasn’t a go anymore and those countries FOUGHT for their independence.
This opening scene is spectacular
And She won an Emmy just for 3 Minutes WOOOOWWW
REST IN PEACE QUEEN.
This is such a moving scene to watch again after the Queen’s passing. She devoted her life to duty and service.
The meaning of this speech is even more relevant now that her Majesty has passed on 😇
God bless the Queen 💖 And God save the King 👑
She won an Emmy for just thus very performance.
This is a phenomenal scene of cinematography, the score Commonwealth made this so much more powerful.
I really adore the magnificent job Claire did! This speech is so meaningful and influential, I am grateful to see this in the show. Great job❤
1 emmy nomination for this !! Hope she wins
She won :)
This scene of her making the speech. Shows how far and Wide the British Empire was
Rest in Peace
HM The Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022)
Showing Margaret thatcher and many other women coming of age was a nice touch
So happy she was nominated for an emmy for this
This scene got her another Emmy Nomination!
Absolute epic introduction to an amazing episode
The HTML tags in the subtitles are so funny 😂
history was portrayed so well (in terms of cinematography) by this series
U know....from the beginning of season 3, I was hunting down for any glimpse of the previous cast, specially Clair Foy , in the scenes.....and I was just happy to see just few old photos of Clair and Matt shown in some scenes.......but as I switched to this episode , without any anticipation and the episode opened, my eyes popped out....and I was like.........this was exactly what I wanted...... 🔥🔥🥺🥺🥺.......and then.....I couldn't stop thinking about this scene for a couple of weeks... 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Just love when the original cast is shown again in the subsequent seasons....just to make us reminisce about that time when they were actually on 😁😁
And long it was. RIP Queen Elizabeth II
So great to see her in the crown again!
Powerful scene.
Edit: and long it was indeed.
I missed her so much!
One born in privilege and one born in self-determination.
Congrats on the emmy Claire! Wonderful scene and your fans wish you the best 😊
Beautiful cinematography.
the way she won an emmy for this
One of the most amazing, beautiful, and technically complex sequences I've ever seen. Wish you'd included the whole thing.
Nice touch to reference Call The Midwife. God bless the queen, God save the king.
It was sooo nice to see her back🥰🥰🥰
SHE WON THIS!
What a beautiful speech..really ..even more now that we can look back from the endpoint. I do not respect many people... she definitely is one of the few ones...
Claire is such a lovely sight.
and wow she just won a emmy for this performance
Now this is fan service done right!!!
Who's here after her 2nd win for this role????
What an honor and fortune it is to have been born a Second Elizabethan. RIP HM EIIR.
I love olivia but claire managed to win me over, her interpretation was fantastic! ❤️
Claire nailed the voice! Sense the EllR’s passing I’ve heard this speech in a lot of news clips and they sound identical.
Imagine how the Queen feels if she watches this piece of episode
R.I.P Queen Elizabeth
Her performance and the show are phenomenal. Season 5 where are you??
Claire acted so well but Queen Elizabeth’s elegant was no body can coby !
I get why countries have wanted to move away from the crown (modernism / self determinism), but the commonwealth is something that we shouldn’t throw away lightly. It’s a frail, aging strategic alliance that might not last the next century, but it still counts for something in a world rapidly shifting into an age of bilateralism
I think either improve the commonwealth or disband it.
Either make it a new union like a global version of EU or just forget about it.
Tradition does mean required. Traditions are mere inventions, meant to be broken.
the US led world order has replaced it
“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether be it long or short, will be devoted to your service” 😭 They said it again one last time!!! 😁 👑
1:13 This is Malaya (Malaysia now). The home is Malay traditional home design with a Malay traditional wooden mahogany chair. The woman also wearing a "baju kurung", plus with elders woman wearing a hijab inners like that old woman in the back, and most of the rich Malay man during this time wearing a full button tshirt. The maid also holding a chicken feathers dust wipe, Malay people call "bulu ayam" which is familiar with Malay culture until now. Most Malay farmers wearing a bright white singlet with t-shirt and garden hat, with folding the pants up to the knee. And lastly of course, most Malay home will at least have one Banana Tree 😆
I think 1:00 -1:04
She led her generation as they came of age. And was one of the last of their ranks to depart. RIP
I gasped when this scene came
Queen Elizabeth II/Claire Foy: "I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service." The reign of Elizabeth was from 1952 to 2022, a reign of 70 years. Longer than Elizabeth I. Longer than Victoria. Rest easy Elizabeth. You fulfilled your promise and more. You were the best of them all. Who knew 2 years after this post, this would remain so strikingly poignant. Thank you.
Let's not forget, this took place before the events of the first season, before she married Philip.
Who’s here after her Emmy for guest actress from season 4
And this gave her another emmy, wonderful
Claire is very convincing as Her Maj
The resemblance of her accent and even voice quality to the queen’s is uncanny.
Rest in Peace HM. God save the King.
When you win an Emmy for being in a show for less than 3min of the whole season.
By the time they decide to make a show about Williams reigns like other version of the crown 👑 I’m pretty sure if Claire still around they’d ask her to play the queen in her last years and can’t wait for it!!!!!
claire foy was the perfect version of The Queen
I love this moment, but she doesn't deserve a Emmy for this
She lived her pledge-
Great.... The longest two seconds of my life.
Rip the queen
The stark contrast between the Windsors and the Romanovs (the last dynasty of my birth country of Russia) is astounding. The Romanovs were a pathetic bunch who tried desperately to cling onto absolutism and were promptly violently deposed and their bodies dumped in a ditch while the Windsors bowed to constitutionalism and continue to reign as the most riveting monarchy alive.
I believe that was the five seconds of Burma 01:00 - 01:05. Correct me if I’m wrong.
God save the Queen!
what other countries can you identify in this video, I can identify India, Palestine, somewhere in South East Asia, Africa, and Australia
Looked like I also saw Ghana (Gold Coast at the time) or Nigeria, and Myanmar (Burma at the time), possibly Hong Kong as well.
