All Lodge wants is for his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they're more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Desperate to rein in his players, Lodge injects two newbies into the distrust: a non-player character controlled by Lodge, who the power gamers immediately distrust, and the rarest gamer of all - a girl. Can the group overcome their bickering to save the kingdom, or will the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed? A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, "The Gamers: Dorkness Rising" is a hilarious romp through the world of sword and sorcery - in this case, a world of exploding peasants, giant house cats, and undead roast turkeys. 10 things probably worth remembering in this movie.
1. BARDS SUCK
2. Don't ever backstab an inanimate object
3. Everything's better with pirates
4. When you're a guy playing a female character, remember it well
5. Using Lightsabers in D&D is copyright infringement
6. Charisma? WEEEE!
7. Killing a peasant coz of boredom is not a neutral act
8. 20 ranks in seduction FTW!
9. 4 elements = Boron
10. Story trumps rules
11. We're all going to DIE!
maybe my favorite indie film of all time? (Yep, it is)
this was an AWESOME movie! I love the credits. The remix with the bloopers. Thats just one of my favorite parts. Because you have to love the "Lust Pits" scene and the "Worshipping of the Troll Moon God"
I just watched this for the first time. One of the better movies I have seen in a long time. My hat is off to you! Keep the awesome coming!
14 years ago? That's not possible!!!!!!
Ya - that was a real good rebuttal; you sure got me.
I have already seen this movie several times, and I love it! The first film, "The Gamers," is quite fun, but "Dorkness Rising" really ratchets up the entertainment. Good stuff, and I look forward to their planned third movie in the series!
Just great! I love the movie!
You guys done a really cool job!
Congratulations! God you guys have come a long way since I suggested you hit the San Diego Con eh? :D
Wow. I can't wait for this movie to come out!
I love Dead Gentlemen productions stuff.
People talk about the low production values as if they were a bad thing. On the contrary, they actually work for the film in that they emphasize the unrealness of the fantasy sequences which, of course, are taking place in the minds of the gamers...
Dead Gentlemen are trying to make a new Gamers movie called "Gamers: Hands of Fate. They started a campaign on Kickstater a while ago. Less than three weeks remain as of this day. If you liked this one, go pledge, and help make this a reality.
@Baculus actually they are playing 3rd edition, not 1st AD&D or 2e AD&D.
This movie ROCKS!
The fights are great. (But then again, Christian Doyle (aka, Gary/Luster) is a fight choreographer in real life!)
I can't wait to see Christian at the Playhouse again, and tell him how great the movie is!
Your right I think it was, just watched it like three times in five days and I can't remember it either !
whats the great melody in the background? this chorus with beats on it. it sounds awsome.
Fantastic movie :) watched it many times already.
Can't wait for The Hands Of Fate to hier DVD (or Bluray)
Guys, I've watched your videos recently. They are awsome. Please continue the good job and ... may the force be with you!!! ^^
ps: "You can't use a LIGHTSABER" (ROLF)!!!! xD
okay, the song used in the trailer, where can one get it? its awsome!
I can't stop laughing at Luster, Flynn and Brother Silent
I love Flynn's line when they're facing Drazuul. It's I'm gonna die!
He's... Fluorescent!
...
Lose fifty xp!
His eyes was too funny!!!!
Can we beg for another "The Gamers" movie?
I absolutely adored this movie!
Unfortunately these guys don't have a DVD out yet. I saw an unfinished version at Gencon last year. It was AWSOME.
Dude I had an idea for a film sort of like this, and it looks like you've completely outdone anything I'd thought of.
As irritating as it is for someone to beat me to the punch, I must say I can't wait for this to come out.
I.... Love.... This.... MOVIE!!!
The movie was awasome. :D Just brilliant. Any hope of a third the gamers?
It is out, but your best bet to get it quickly is to order online.
The Bard kamikaze- Undead roasted turkey- and Shotgun monk parts are amongst the most memorable movie moments of all time.
This movie is one of the most epic films i have ever seen. It is the greatest films of all time if you are a d and d fan. My favorite line of the the whole movie would have to be "quick hide behind the wall of dead bards." I also have to agree that this movie is way better than any comedy i have seen in the last 5-10 years.
Yes, the developers want to work on a third movie that will have a larger budget. I believe they are currently working on a movie for a different werewolf series. (Though you will probably want to check out the Dead Gentlemen Productions website for more info.)
if you guys ever make a sequel I would be willing to help! I live near tacoma!
Ah... my people.
....Does anyone know what song is playing in the background...? XD
Can anyone tell me whats the line the monk says that makes him lose 50 xp???? Cant hear it right
This describes DnD.....PERFECTLY.
is this out yet?
He who stumbles around in darkness with a stick is blind,
But he who sticks out in darkness is... fluorescent!
Lose fifty experience... :D
I know these people.
I am these people.
Mort Kemnom : Youll have to do better than that!
Monk : Okay (Pulls out shotgun)
DM: What the...?
Monk : It was in the Trunk
but he who sticks out in darkness is......flourescent!
They are playing (Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons, a pen and paper role-playing game (and essentially the granddaddy of all role-playing games(.
What is quite funny about both Gamers movies is they utterly wipe the floor with the two multi-million-dollar-budgeted 'proper' D&D movies. Just goes to show that a good script trumps money every time.
A LIGHTSABER?! YOU CAN'T USE A LIGHTSABER!
It was in the trunk...
Cool. But how do I get to see it here in Europe?
I love this movie. It's campy and glorious! They just released a Strowlers video!!!
Seconded! I even kept on laughing after the movie was already over, just thinking about it.
Saw it on netflix. :)
right you are good frind
this film is incredible. i advise EVERYONE to buy it...everyone in the world. its 10000 times what the first one was
saw this on Netflix, was like WTF when I saw the cover then I started watching it. Found it pretty entertaining and funny lol
will there be a third? PLEASE SAY YES!
Can anybody tell me what the game with the pirates and ninjas was in the movie? It looks fun :)
Pizzajitsu I do believe. Two rival ninjas trying to be the first to deliver 10 pizzas.
i love this film~! i'm almost rotfl wen i see this move, go go bard-hero!
Yeah noticed my misspelling later...
I don't remember that last line.
Must not have made it into the final edit.
what game are they playing?
@Linxkit
everyone was like "Yup, your gonna die. See ya later."
He triped and beat himself to dead.
Best movie to watch with your girlfriend
I really liked this movie. It was great!
Heh. Glad I'm not alone.
its just a shame that D&D changed editions while this was being made, it would have been hilarious for the cast to change editions mid RP, like, the magic casters suddenly not worrying about using all their magic up and fighters being able to do stuff except just causing 1 dice worth of damage 90% of the time.
This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen!
I saw this at Origins this past summer and it was even better than the original. However, WHEN THE HELL IS IT COMING OUT?!?!?!?!
It's a bit low budget, but probably analogous to some BBC productions. In spite of its budget, though, it really accomplishes its goal well enough. And, again, in spite of its budget, it actually has really "magic effects" that are always lacking from block buster movies. (Did we actually ever see Gandalf practice any real magic in the LOTR movies?)
But if you like PnP gaming, then you will highly enjoy this movie!
I looks like, if there will be a monk. The allmighty class in D&D^^
(sorry for my bad english)
this one is much better then the first
hey bby wanna....tune my mandolin....classic
Loved this film...if you are into gaming or rpg's etc you will love it.
Some of the jokes may go over non gamers heads ya see :D
It's really well acted and I found the characters believable but the scenes when they are "in game" is what made the film for me...really cheesey!
Overall a really enjoyable romp....laughs a plenty and easy going on the brain!
Go Watch It Now!
IM GONNA DIE! ROFLAMO
this movie was kick ass. even if you aren't a gamer it's funny as all hell. if you hate DND then there is a ton of jokes in there about how lame it is. But it still shows how awesome it can be if you play with a cool DM and friends.
seems to be even better then The gamers.
Did easy just say Peter Jackson invented Gandalf...?
Snaip, I agree
Everything is better with pirates
@spoilern70 The film's funny because the whole thing is just one D&D in-joke. If you're not in to D&D / have never played it then it might not come across as so great.
The quality looks horrendous but I must see it, having been an avid paper pencil gamer for quite some time myself, just wish they could have had a higher budget, ah well.
@TsugaruRage >implying that the person is talking to you and not typing.
@sol20051 it was a sequel
To waffles, WAFFLES!!!
Heh if you ever checked out my profile page, you might see why. Am a pure Tolkienite. The movie was sheer brilliance, but the books I hold true to. The fact that people are slowly forgetting who invented the modern understanding of Fantasy (and by default it led to Gaming) is saddening. So for everyone else out there...TOLKIEN WROTE LOTR, NOT PETER JACKSON. hehe
Hahaha...the monk's my friend's cousin...
Tolkien turned in his grave.
Arcadum brought me here
ONAWRD TO WAFFLES
I second that.
BTW, it's "awesome".
This movie was SOOO funny! You cannot be a DnD fan and NOT love this movie!
"Oh yeah! I could seduce any homophobe with that role!"
careful with your lute, man... there's unofficial rules for that kinda thing available. x3
I recommend this to everyone dude. Even the Transformer watchers. But I feel sad for those who don't understand it... You can get it on filmsi.co.cc. I guess it's a vicious cycle.
I hope these weren't the best jokes...So cool I laughed so hard....And if they have better jokes ! OMG.......Can't Wait....just can't wait
i shall try that one my girlfriend
Nerd Alert!
@snortingnodoz
... Lose 50 experience.
Its really sad to see what jealousy does to people. You seriously need to grow up.
malakia
The guy who keeps forgetting he's a woman is hilarious.
Haha! Lose 50 experience.
everything is better....with pirats!!!
those who thought this movie was funny, were high on weed!!!!!!!
