@@victorajuwa3627 Hey, we can't all be Brandon Sanderson. Martin and Rothfuss have both written more great books than I have (spoiler: I've written none). As for Sanderson, I don't know how he does it; he's a machine! 🙂
I bought Elantris on a whim from a bookstore in 2006 and every book that Sanderson has published since then has been pretty much an automatic purchase for me. I'm pretty sure I have convinced at least 100 people to give Way of Kings or Mistborn a try, and it's like a 90% success rate of people who fall in love with his books.
I remember when I read mistborn and started my mission of convincing all my friends to read them, so I could have someone to talk about them. It was a struggle because no one had heard about him and the books weren't translated to Spanish yet. Luckily the translation was published shortly after and a couple of friends decided to read them just to make me shut up XD the rest followed soon after their rave reviews
Seing this makes me happy. Seing Brandon get the attention he deserves, fantasy reaching mainstream talkshow talk points, and boooy, oh, boy, kickstarter, hold on to your boots, you're about to be reaided by at least 1000 new selfpublishing authors soon. A good time to live as an aspiring writer and a fantasy nerd (this was me last summer) that one time spent around 3-4 hours playing with rice on a big piece of paper and naming those shapes the first world he'll create.
I bounced off way of kings until I competed the first mistborn trilogy. After that I sort of 'got' his style and consumed every stormlight book I could get audiobook of
That was my first exposure to him also. I was blown away. I recently read Elantris (the first book he wrote) and it doesn't pace nearly as well (it's obvious that it was much earlier in his writing experience). But still - it was excellent. Now having read 5 of his books (I also read Mistborn book 4) I'm planning on quite a few more. I've heard Warbreaker is great too.

Brandon Sanderson is my favorite fictional author ever! I discovered him through the wheel of time! Then I read all his published work! Because of my anxiety I literally relate to the characters! There's something special about seeing characters struggling with the same thing as you! I'm a fanboy forever! And he's kind to his fans! What more could you ask for?
Brandon is my favorite author. Not necessarily just because I love his books, but because of who he is. Giving back, helping young writers, teaching and postings wisdom, connecting with fans directly, keeping his sense of play and humor.
The WEIRDEST part of this interview is seeing Brandon Sanderson's dad and being like "when did Brandon Sanderson have 70's hair?!" The resemblance is wild
There are a number of fantasy authors that have the talent Brandon does, and a few that clearly have more. But there are none that care as much about their fans and put in the work to deliver for them, over and over again. That’s why Brandon is the best, and why Patrick Rothfuss and GRRM will never outshine him. They took their spoils and checked out, while Brandon keeps giving back.
Everyone always lumps together Rothfuss and Martin, but I don’t think it’s fair to equate them. Martin seems like he has actually just checked out, whereas Rothfuss seems like he has a legitimately slow process. He’s admitted it took him 15 years to write The Name of the Wind, and I suspect that’s a big part of why that book has such beautiful, polished prose and the writing is so intricately detailed. I don’t think we’re ever going to get Winds of Winter at this point, but I do think we will eventually get Doors of Stone, and that it’s going to be on at least the same level of quality as The Name of the Wind, if not higher.
@@uhlan30 Yeah the diference really is that Martin started writing Game of Throwns because he wanted to write something where he didn§t have to answer to anyone. Unfortunately now at the end he has so many people with expectations of it it just has to be so hard to even get motivated to write. It’s just not his fun side project anymore, and it shows. Rothofuss though has been polishing and polishing that book like a jeweler polishes a gem. He won’t publish untill he is happy with it. That’s fine. I can wait for something if it means the quality will be good and the author is happy with it.

You are exactly right & you have a lot of enjoyment ahead! Kaladin and the other characters are so relatable and real - how the brokenness of their hearts is what lets the magic in (that's explained on the book covers by an unnamed character). Glad you're a fellow Sander-fan! :-)
@@kimlindseyOH Yes! im still in the start of the book (chapter 12) and i already can relate to these characters. Is amazing how they grabbed me in just the first part of BOOK 1. And yes, brando is right now my favorite author. Harry Potter is still my favorite Saga of books but i think Stormlight Archive will take that spot soon hahaha
You'll love Kal's story. WoK is amazing!!
@@LFNZE Keep reading,im into Oathbringer right now and Kaladin is still my favorite character.
Life before death radiant!
I’m on book 2 of The Stormlight Archive right now and I LOVE THIS SERIES. I’m new to fantasy books and started due to the WoT TV show. I binged the WoT audiobooks in a couple months.
I'm jealous of all the new books you get to discover, so many I would love to read again for the first time!
Woof good for you :)
ENJOY! There's so much good stuff in store for you 😁
Yeaaaa tons of great things lay ahead for you
Thanks everyone! 😊
3 books down, my next stop is Rhythm of War.
He's a machine. Major respect to the man
Its crazy how productive Brandon Sanderson is and yet still writes solid books.
Amazing isn't it. If only George RR Martin and Patrick Rothfuss were the same 😥
@@victorajuwa3627 Hey, we can't all be Brandon Sanderson. Martin and Rothfuss have both written more great books than I have (spoiler: I've written none).
As for Sanderson, I don't know how he does it; he's a machine! 🙂
@@victorajuwa3627 everybody has their own writing method
I started reading Mistborn at the beginning of this year and became an instant fan. Can’t wait to read more of his books
I envy you. I wish I could read these books again for the first time.
@@joelman1989 But at least you get the fun of rereading them and looking for hidden clues and easter eggs 🙂
Love him so much. Amazing author and human.
The Stormlight Archives are his best series to date. Much more dynamic than his other books. Waiting on the next installment.
The fact that he publishes his creative writing courses for FREE is just amazing
Brando finally getting the recognition he deserves
Finally got to see Brandon's theater. He always talks about it with Dan, but I've never seen it until now.
Yes! I was thinking the same.
So proud of him!!!
He’s amazing. I love his writing soooo much!
He's not just a good writer, he's also a genuinely good person.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
I read pretty much all his books. He's a great author. If you want to start read the first Mistborn book
I bounced off way of kings until I competed the first mistborn trilogy. After that I sort of 'got' his style and consumed every stormlight book I could get audiobook of
Journey Before Destination my friends, you have a beautiful road ahead
1:50 I love that man
4:50 too lol
Love brando. His mistborn trilogy has truly made my year
That was my first exposure to him also.
@@colin1818 yes. I still haven't gotten over the mistborn ending
@@colin1818 I would say Warbreaker is better than Elantris since he has more writing exp. I definetly recommend IT.
The Stormlight Archive series will blow u away though, IT is his masterpiece. It is one tier above mistborn!
@@TealTheDropster yeah, its damn shocking. Have u read Stormlight?
@@noname3609 - Trying to wrap up some other series I have open before I dive into anything completely new. Finishing The Witcher, The Hyperion Cantos and the Ender’s Game Quartet in 2022. Hope to also polish off Warbreaker before starting Stormlight by the end of the year.
Dude, Brandon, we need a tour of your house…
That's what I'm saying -- he's filming his UA-cam videos in the wrong building haha
I love this man so much
Brandon Sanderson is my favorite fictional author ever! I discovered him through the wheel of time! Then I read all his published work! Because of my anxiety I literally relate to the characters! There's something special about seeing characters struggling with the same thing as you! I'm a fanboy forever! And he's kind to his fans! What more could you ask for?
Good for you BrandoSando
This is the best (and most accurate) coverage so far!
That's where I watched the premier of Dune. My brother works with Brandon's brother. Such a good dude in real life.
Duuuude talk about peak dune viewing. Bet that was great
I just read his first look for Stormlight archive 5 and I’m both crying in disbelief and excited at the same time.
Real news from CBS. Didn't expect that.
The power of what hard work can achieve. NOTHING was handed to this dude. He earned it all.
This was a fun interview.
I love you Brandon Sanderson!!
Brandon is my favorite author. Not necessarily just because I love his books, but because of who he is. Giving back, helping young writers, teaching and postings wisdom, connecting with fans directly, keeping his sense of play and humor.
My favorite author for sure!
Brandon's mother is so beautiful!
i hope he makes a tour and comes to Argentina 🤧 one can dream
This is awesome 🙂
Congratulations Mr. Sanderson!
And how awesome Chaos' wife on CBS!
Damn public tv actually did justice and recapped Brandon to a casual viewer rather accurately. Thats pretty rare nowadays
I love this man. I credit my love of reading and obsession with fantasy to his books.
Great Interviewer
Branon is amazing, his books are genious!
And the best part is that it doesn't take him 10 years to write a book like a couple of authors that I'm waiting on...
I read mistborn and I read the first 3 of stormlight, this makes me want to read the 4th
The 4th is really good, lots of interesting revelations and twists on things.
The WEIRDEST part of this interview is seeing Brandon Sanderson's dad and being like "when did Brandon Sanderson have 70's hair?!" The resemblance is wild
Sanderson could have written 600 more pages in the time this interview was conducted.
Well done Brandon Sanderson you are a hero
Good 👍 for him.
Yeaaaa Brandon! 🙌 btw how have we never seen a house tour before
Thought the same! How have we never gotten to see the glass windows
I can't believe he really got made the stained glass covers of the chinese editions into really stained glass that is so cool.
Brando on the news!!! 😭❤️
He deserves all of his success.
Loved getting a peek at Brandon’s amazing mansion/man cave!
This fantasy author truly is the G.O.A.T. in so many aspects!
