I think that's the key to the success of his kickstarter. A lot of kickstarters are, "Here's my idea, can you fund it?" His kickstarter was, "Here are my already completed novels, care to buy one... or four?"
i love the MCU, so i also like his comparison of his work to that universe. that said, Sanderson is head and shoulders above most comic book and movie writers in terms of storytelling, world building, and character work. i would be beyond excited to see a major push to get his work adapted properly.
Properly is the key word! The Wheel of Time live-action was a total failure, I was heartbroken repeatedly while watching it because of incredibly poor decision making. Note that he was a codirector or something for the show, but the director personally stated that he decided NOT to listen to people telling him not to do certain things, including Brandon. If I get to see the Cosmere as a tv series, that'd be brilliant. Can't make the same mistakes as WoT show.

But he has made clear that the fact that the Cosmere or other of his series have not been adapted yet is due to the amount of special effects (and therefore, money) they would require to make look worlds as Roshar real. Hollywood just don’t want to take that risk for now. But Brandon has said that he is looking with good eyes to the Stagecraft Technology that's been used in productions as The Mandalorian to make Fan/Sci-fi world possible without that big of a budget. A technology which, by the way, has been developed by Brandon's friends in Epic.

You might be right - the difference being, JRR synthesized European myths and folklore into his world, while brandon is distilling contemporary pop culture, from the fantasy that came before, to superhero stories, manga and anime, and Hollywood storytelling, and incorporating them into his works.

Love the interviewers energy. And this couldn’t have happened to a better guy. Sanderson’s books have gotten me through some tough tough times. And they’ve inspired me to be a better person.
It amazes me he only started publishing in 2005, the man has a massive body of work. Sanderson will be remembered up there with the greats, hes now getting more and more recognition.

This whole process is such a wonderful demonstration of why Brandon is, by far, my favourite author, and has been since I first read Misborn fifteen years ago or so. I really wish I was in a position where I could afford the highest tier of the Kickstarter - as it is, I've pledged for the ebook + audio book tier, because shipping is expensive.
Yeah, I've gone for the ebooks. I live in the UK so the international shipping was too high for me to justify. To be honest I'm not personally interested in the subscription boxes, but I love the fact that they're available for people who are. I’m on book 2 of The Stormlight Archive right now and I LOVE THIS SERIES. I’m new to fantasy books and started due to the WoT TV show. I binged the WoT audiobooks in a couple months.
I adore seeing mainstream/normie media cover things that I love. These people honestly seemed like they were having a great time covering this and I hope this just expands the brando sando fan club
I adore his works. The narrative arc's of his collection of protagonist's in the "Stormlight Archives" really do impart positive life lessons; even half-finished, it's such a fantastic series. While the surreal, complex, and interconnected settings of his works speak well to his immense creativity. It's hard not to be happy for him in finding national recognition. It's well earned
I bought Elantris on a whim from a bookstore in 2006 and every book that Sanderson has published since then has been pretty much an automatic purchase for me. I'm pretty sure I have convinced at least 100 people to give Way of Kings or Mistborn a try, and it's like a 90% success rate of people who fall in love with his books.
I remember when I read mistborn and started my mission of convincing all my friends to read them, so I could have someone to talk about them. It was a struggle because no one had heard about him and the books weren't translated to Spanish yet. Luckily the translation was published shortly after and a couple of friends decided to read them just to make me shut up XD the rest followed soon after their rave reviews

Yeah. I think those of us who have read the book series multiple times are having issues with some of the changes they made. I don't mind different events happening, but some of the characters just don't feel like themselves at all. That's a big problem for me. People who haven't read the books seem to be enjoying the series more, and I guess that's a good thing, but I'm still disappointed that I'm not seeing the characters I know and love
I listen to Audio especially the one that have sound effects and different voice actors. I would say for the last 5 year I have had the Stormlight Archive in a loop.

The Wheel of Time show was really trash, but don't let that dissuade you from reading the books. The books are a great fantasy series!
Yeah. I think those of us who have read the book series multiple times are having issues with some of the changes they made.
I don't mind different events happening, but some of the characters just don't feel like themselves at all. That's a big problem for me.
People who haven't read the books seem to be enjoying the series more, and I guess that's a good thing, but I'm still disappointed that I'm not seeing the characters I know and love

I listen to Audio especially the one that have sound effects and different voice actors. I would say for the last 5 year I have had the Stormlight Archive in a loop.

That's an interesting selection of books in the beginning. Only Cosmere ones are the short stories.
I love his attitude and he`s right it is a great time for fantasy/science fiction...i just wish more people would watch out of their comfort zone,take South Korea for instance ...
Some of the absolutely best fantasy/SF series ive watched in the last 5yrs has been Korean shows like "Queen In-Hyuns Man" W-Two Worlds" "Goblin" "Memories Of The Alhambra" "Kingdom" "The King:eternal monarch" "Awaken" all of them fantastic viewing ...
