Nice little set with it's coarse dot pitch. That was made before the color portables went to inline guns and screens. I seem to remember that all the color sets 19 inch and under all had in-line tubes by 1975.

I got a 1976 Panasonic Portable model TR-515 that still works pretty good for a small 5" B&W set. Anyway I watch videos even if it is something crazy and hearing what happens on the west coast of the US sense I'm from the east side near the great lakes. Thanks again for a awesome video.
I had a couple of Proton TVs that had Hitachi CRTs. They had unbeatable DC restoration but they went through flyback transformers like nobody's business.

I had a very similar Hitachi 9 inch AC/DC set I received as a birthday present in 1977. It had an instant-on circuitry where you would rotate the volume knob clockwise to turn it to a "standby" mode and then pull it outward to turn it on. The knobs were identical to this set, but mine was more stylish. The cabinet was all red plastic with a retracting chrome carrying handle. I think its still at my parents' house, but I don't know if it works anymore. My brother pushed it off a table onto the floor and broke the case. It had a nice picture. I used it for years until it got dumped on the floor.
These are really nice little sets, for their time. I have one identical, with its original wrapped, unused anti-glare screen cover. It also has its original owners instruction manual. Makes a beautiful color picture with great reds and greens.
I found that the best way to really hurt media conglomerates or professional ball-chasing societies is to simply refuse to acknowledge that they even exist. I have better things to do with my time and money. Cynicism? Mine comes mostly from just over 4 decades of being lied to constantly by just about everyone from all directions. ...and if GM is able to put out something that isn't a complete electrical and mechanical failure I'll eat this keyboard.

There's footage on UA-cam of LA and the homeless encampment sweeps before the super bowl. I believe parts of the stadium lot were absolutely littered with trash and piles of dumped crap. They cleaned it all up to make it look "proper" for the dumb game, and kicked out all the homeless people from the routes into the stadium. Granted I wouldn't want tents all over the street with urine and feces everywhere, but the city did nothing about it until the game... Just shows only the people with mega money matter.
The streets they may well live on, but not the ones that MSM or rich folk might see... Can't have them feeling bad before the big game, they might spunk less cash then...

Awesome little tv. The QR code makes a great screensaver. I have two small Sony tv's around the same size. I think they are around 9 inch? anyways they have white plastic housing. I love these kind of little tv's. They make you feel fuzzy inside. Nothing like the smell of a new tv in that era when they where new. ABS plastic and circuit smell of burn in. Thanks for sharing. I am seeing 72XX and 73XX date codes on those caps 1972 and 1973. I don't hate a 10uf with 20 ohms ESR, unless it is in a switch mode modern power supply it will pass audio and video just fine. Look at the input impedance of most of those stages, they are coupled with sometimes a 10K resistor or even more. Beautifully designed TV with a very good CRT. Must have very low hours.
@@andygozzo72 20 Ohms is way too much even for back then... Remember they already had electrolytic bipolar caps that worked in speaker crossovers, some smaller than 10u. But then yeah, as coupling caps in high impedance stages... it doesn't really matter.

Great little TV! here in England the Superbowl doesn't even get a mention on most sports reports on TV or Radio, our football (soccer) world cup is nowhere near as hyped up as your Superbowl, normally it's straight into the game after a brief analysis of the two teams in typical reserved English fashion!
I have the successor model to this TV in my closet! I use it once every so often when we have a get together and break out the old pong console, only thing that still has spade antenna on it... say what you like about old stuff but the simplicity of pong means anyone can play it in 30 seconds without needing to spend hours of time and buy downloadable content! can be a lot of fun when beer is involved... also nice to not hear the metal sky birds for a change!

Have you tried to turn off the image stabilization on your camera? It helps a lot on my old Digital8 camcorder when filming CRTs. If Steadyshot is on, there's nothing on the screen, the whole CRT screen is blanked out. If I switch Steadyshot off, it's perfect.
I've seen practically every video Shango posted. found this by luck. I am having problems finding those I haven't seen. Maybe I'll just watch them all again. (I haven't seen all of the mine vids, those are ok too.) Don't forget. Wanting freedom is selfish! (sarcasm)

It’s as though it’s some sort of personal victory for them,as though something was achieved. Shango’s explanation of major league sports accurately sums up the whole scene.

Shango, have you encountered any PAL TV sets in your travels? As an Aussie, it's weird to see old TV's with tint controls on them, tint controls must just be an NTSC thing.
27:10 The Digital Stream boxes worked quite well - and did display the programming information. The Zenith and Insignia boxes had less programming information than the Digital Stream.
The Zenith and Insignia had much better OSD and menu graphics than did the Digital Stream, which is interesting being as they all used the same processor (the LG LGDT1111). It would have been nice if LG had provided a more comprehensive program guide on the Zenith and Insignia boxes.

Not many street people in N.H. They cant make the winter. They find a few stiffs every year. They are called "Bumcicles". Usually its from the wine case fire going out. Remember Ottawa !! LFOD !
I find it interesting that they have an octal tube socket in this set. They must have had a surplus in old tube equipment. It actually has a pretty decent picture, and good colors. I'm guessing there aren't a ton of hours on this tube. A recap would definitely clean it up a bit. I have an old solid state guitar amplifier from a similar era that has old Rubycon caps. I'm guessing they are all bad. I just replaced the main filter cap and that significantly cut down on the 60 cycle hum. It has several tiny 16v 0.47uf electrolytic caps that I can hopefully replace with tantalums. The board actually looks similar to a transistor radio.
I read that the Super Bowl commercials are $7 million for 30 seconds, that's just insane. One the other hand, it seems the most popular SB commercial is the new Chevy Silverado (Sopranos) commercial. It already has 11 millions views on UA-cam (and climbing)... "The First-Ever All-Electric Chevy Silverado - New Generation (The Sopranos) | Chevrolet"

These early '70s Hitachi CRTs were great! My 1974 Telefunken 614 have one onf these and the picture is super cool!

The Digital Stream boxes worked quite well - and did display the programming information.
The Zenith and Insignia boxes had less programming information than the Digital Stream.
The Zenith and Insignia had much better OSD and menu graphics than did the Digital Stream, which is interesting being as they all used the same processor (the LG LGDT1111). It would have been nice if LG had provided a more comprehensive program guide on the Zenith and Insignia boxes.
@@uxwbill The Digital Stream boxes also seem to have a lackluster tuner, need much more signal strength, ie. a better antenna, to get the same stations.

I find it interesting that they have an octal tube socket in this set. They must have had a surplus in old tube equipment. It actually has a pretty decent picture, and good colors. I'm guessing there aren't a ton of hours on this tube. A recap would definitely clean it up a bit. I have an old solid state guitar amplifier from a similar era that has old Rubycon caps. I'm guessing they are all bad. I just replaced the main filter cap and that significantly cut down on the 60 cycle hum. It has several tiny 16v 0.47uf electrolytic caps that I can hopefully replace with tantalums. The board actually looks similar to a transistor radio.
Where are you getting the broadcast analog signals from? We don't have them out here on the east coast. 🤔

Visible retrace lines are _vertical_ retrace lines. The beam is traveling upwards at ~10x the speed and in the opposite direction.
