Thought I'd start watching your vlogs from the beginning. Fantastic Paul. Like you say it's just great to be out under the night sky. Your milky-way beach image is very special. Hope you're doing ok
Thanks Lee! I’m not sure what I was thinking trying to photograph from what is essentially a small town, and I definitely preferred the more rural beach. Might try to get back there this Winter. 👍
I'll look forward to it Paul. Hoping to get the dslr out this winter too. The star glow filter really intrigues me. Good luck for the Perseids next weekend 🙏
Nice work here, Paul! It takes a lot of effort to vlog in the dark as well. Good to have even just that cheap light, I might have to get that when i do the night vlogs. I’ve just been lighting my face with random lights or my phone 😂 i really liked the 85mm shot with the beacon and the astro modified shot towards the end.
Thanks, Keith. I appreciate that. I use a cheap flexible clip-on reading light attached to the selfie-stick of my phone to light my face - it’s not elegant but it does the job! Just enjoyed your vid of the Milky Way shoot over the reservoir - it must be a challenge getting the Milky Way to pop out of Hong Kong skies!
@@nightscapejournals yes, definitely a challenge! That was actually my first time shooting the Milky Way core (and haven’t had the chance to shoot other astro stuff), so trying to improve on this. Need to explore more spots too where it’s relatively dark here 😂
Hey Paul, enjoyed the vid. Was interesting to see what the area is like at night for astro. So unfortunate you had so much air pollution in the sky coming over from the near continent. The air quality has definitely improved now since the high pressure system has gone. Very eager to head over to north Norfolk myself for some astrophotography. Happisburgh lighthouse looks a cracking location
Thanks, Tom - really appreciated. North Norfolk has some beautiful locations for Astro - it’s a bit of a drive for me but we’ll worth it. Happisburgh was amazing, and the sky was a lot more transparent. There was some light pollution down the SSW, which made the MW core a bit disappointing in the early morning, but otherwise nice and dark. I’d hoped to make a vlog about it, but my mic was being temperamental and the wind was ferocious.
@@nightscapejournals cool, yeah north Norfolk is a minimum 2hr 40min drive for me as I'm in south Leicestershire. As the area looks east out to sea I'm thinking it's a wicked place to capture the early morning milkyway arch. So that lighthouse at Happisburgh would make for a fantastic composition. somewhere I need to explore 100%.
YAY ❤
Thank you, Christina. ☺️

That unfortunate. Would have been great to see your vlog if it had worked out. Not much on UA-cam about happisburgh lighthouse astro
Nice work Paul!
Thanks James. Let’s get out again soon! ✨📷
Man, that's a lot of lightpollution on those first beaches man 😅. Glad you got to that last location eventually for some proper nightscaping!
Yep, I thought it would be much better than that! Now I try to go to places where there’s nobody else!
@@nightscapejournals those are definately the best 😎
Lots of work in that!
Thank you, Paul. Vlogging definitely adds an additional layer of complexity to being out with the camera at night taking pictures!!
