I was offered a buggy ride and a guide to the lounge when I got upgraded to First Class, I really didn't want the attention. I loved the first class lounge, it was almost empty because it was during the back end of Covid. On the return trip, the business class lounge or the whole second floor of the terminal was rammed and they had nowhere to store hand luggage, and a queue for the showers. Even though it was a morning flight, they had to eject some drunk Russian guests, and one of them fell down the stairs :o Luckily he just bounced back on to his feet. Amazing people watching.
You have a great voice for narrating these videos and the editing is so clean. Among flight review UA-camrs out there, you are one of the most comprehensive and I can just sit for hours watching your content. Keep up the great work!
Best luxury travel channel ever! I'm going to fly Qatar 6 times next month (1 economy, 4 business and 1 first) and now I'm planning to record the experience (for personal purposes) based on you content lol! Thanks for posting, Kevin!

This is what makes Emirates one the absolute best in the world year after year. One of my travel bucketlist is from my country to Auckland in first class roundtrip. Greetings from Oslo,Norway
I used to regularly fly the A340-500 in F between Dubai and Sydney in the mid 2000s, it was the only aircraft in those days that had he range. At the same time, for several years until the A380 became ubiquitous, the 777s still had the lazy-boy recliner seats in a 2-2-2 config in F. There were also a few 777s in another 2-2-2 config with dividers between the seats on the various Australia/NZ routes that stopped in Asia on their way. Over time all the 777s finally had the 1-2-1 suite configs installed, but it took many years, there was quite a hotch potch of cabin configs at the time in F. I took my first 1-2-1 in a 777 to Narita, and didn't miss not having a bar or shower of the A380. Those 8 seats make it very exclusive. I find I sleep a lot better on these seats compared to the game changer, where my limbs fall off the side. That Emirates F lounge was their first F lounge in DXB. The showers are still a bit meh, very pokey and showing their age. Bumped into Niki Lauda in there once in his way back from the Melbourne GP. About a decade later I found myself dining at an adjacent table to him again in the new F lounges. Regarding the to-go drink, that reminds me of flying Concorde in the 90s LHR-JFK and back. I always used to sit right at the back as it was less busy, I never had anyone sitting next to me when travelling alone. It was also adjacent to the rear galley, so if you had the right crew they topped up my glass for landing as long as I held onto it, and then topped it up again once landed.
Great video Kevin! I agree, I have only ever flown their old first class on both the 777 and a380, still a quality product! I noticed the service seemed to be exact opposites to your game changer flight!🎉
I flew Swiss F from DXB to MCT after a 3 day stopover in Dubai. I was escorted from the lounge to the gate, had 3 glasses of champagne pre flight, a one tray shrimp salad with an amuse bouche to start and a lemon and passion fruit cheesecake and sorbet. I had a glass of white wine with dinner and a gin and tonic and baileys coffee in a similar flight. One of the best things was as my bag was loaded in Dubai as one of the last on it was one of the first off in Muscat and my Dubai entry stamp meant I didn’t have to queue or pay for an Omani visa on arrival and I was kerbside in. 9 minutes.
I’m not a frequent flyer and I’ve only ever flown economy. But let me tell you, the crew are so fundamentally important to having a good flight. 70% of my flights with Emirates have been bad experiences thanks to the flight crew. Even with the legroom and inflight entertainment, none of that matters if the crew make the whole 14 hours an uphill battle and a miserable experience.
What a thoroughly enjoyable review to watch! Even though Emirates gaudy over the top style is not my favourite, you have to give them credit where credit is due. This is what first class should be like, short- medium- or long-haul. Attentive, exclusive and indulgent! Thank you for all the background information of the history of Emirates, very interesting! 🩳🩴🥃
As you’ve said, for a 45minute flight it really is extraordinary what they offer - only Oman Air seems to compare and less 80’s bling, hopefully you won’t be allocated the middle seat in the next video - I was given it once and I said I won’t be travelling tonight can you please get my bags off the aircraft- somehow a window seat became available 😮- nice video as always
most of us are economy passengers so trust me when I say, I'd rather be on an emirates plane with game changer seats than this one. Now if I were to travel premium, that would be another story.
If it was a once in a lifetime- full stop- experience, sure I’d agree with you, but if you ever experienced such a wonderful hard product with such crappy service, you’d be left wondering what you spent your money on.
I think the key to EK’s success is what you mentioned. Even a 200 miles flight is subjected to the full service. In the age of cost cutting, one could do away with such service for a short flight given even the passengers might not expect it but EK does it and how?! I am not the biggest fan of their business class on A380 as compared to the QSuite but it is still supremely industry leading. I just hope EK retrofits their B77W or updates their business class given some long distance international routes are still operated by that aircraft, for example DXB-SEA as that business class is really not very good. As always an amazing video and a side note that I always love your music choices. P.S. it would be great if you get to travel to India and try AIs A350. It is Aeroflot business class for now but the service is pretty good and it would be amazing for someone like you to experience and evaluate it. 😊 Another P.S. EK could do better at designing their ICE system with better and cleaner UX. They have such an extensive collection and an impressive system, the UX seems a bit shabby with the current standards. Just my 2 cents!
Agreed. There is a consistent ‘all in’ premium feel which spans all of their flights- in various ways. The fact that the wine I mentioned- $171/bottle- was also being served in the lounge (only noticed when editing later…) is a good example of that. Unless it was a special Champagne lounge or something you’d be hard pressed to find a bottle over $50 in most other First Class lounges. That’s where the EK price tag comes from.
Loved the Jag XJ comment haha. Have to admit I miss the old Jaaaaaag days, as must the old top gear guys. Emirates is overrated though, not that I don’t admire Tim Clark.
What a life eh ! #papercup4thebestwhisky ! I'm doing economy AF ro Abu Dhabi next week. Then the classic tier points run in Business with Sri Lankan to Jakarta, and all back, plus some economy local 1 ... 2 ... and 3 hour flights with Garuda, Batik and Lion Air Indonesia to/from/around Sumatra. Yippee!
Another brilliant video, had the chance to experience emirates 1st on the 380 from BKK to HKG, short but very sweet. Looking forward to the next video as always.
Hi Kevin. Thank you very much for your flight report. Very entertaining and informative. I love the Penfolds Shiraz on the wine menu. Great wine! The Emirates interior is the late 90ies style but still one of the best for me on air. Wondering if LH can beat it with the still not flying Allegris😉 All the best from Guido
LH is just a joke at this point. I know Allegris is different in that no one else is doing it- but let's face it, in principal those styles of individual pods can be found on countless airlines these days. LH better announce their next next business class cabin soon to be ready for 2038 rollout 😅
And here I was, looking to possibly redeem points for First between Singapore and Phnom Penh (only 2hrs), but this takes the cake by being even shorter! Makes my potential decision even more justifiable haha.
In canada on a 42 minutes flight in business youre Lucky if you get served anything. While in some other parts of the World they sacrified a bottle of Pichon longueville probably just to serve you a single glass That is a serious crime. 😫 Btw Im really jealous 😂 Is emirates a bit too much ? Maybe But Why on Earth one would refuse that kind of expérience 😊
Nice video! At 4:04(?) was that guy on the walkway giving you the finger ?😏 The service seemed more put together and seamless? I wonder if that comes from familiarity among the crew members? Happy endings are always good. Cheers!
Haha before exporting the video I looked at the same clip a few times. No he wasn’t. I caught him mid turn as he was going to point to something to show his friend.
If I'm honest, since I genuinely do prefer any spirits on the rocks, when they're cold there's not much of a difference to me. So, if I'm paying I'll take the cheaper, if it's free, the more expensive 😂.
I fly Emirates a lot to LAX and JFK in first and business class but the ticket prices are insane! How can you fly first class so much and do you have any tips to get cheap tickets without using a credit card?
Any of those First Class cabins on the 777... or just plain Business Class in the A380? Give me the choice, and I take the A380 without a doubt. The bar, that bar at the end is the real health and wellbeing.
Considering I got stuck in business on one of the old configuration A380s, I will fully disagree with you lol. Was not impressed with that seat at all.
Well, I do like the seat, but what I love the most is the bar/lounge and what it allows you to do during the flight, especially when flying with the family and kids. It should be compulsory in all long distance flights, and I believe so to the point that me and my family avoid flying aircrafts without lounge when taking long flights.
Just the age and dated feel of the cabin and aircraft. For a flight so short, not a problem whatsoever- but would be wrong to give perfect scores for a very old product- when they also offer three newer versions.
I noticed the pricing of all the champagne's and wines I'm assuming on Emirates 777 First class or any Emerates First class the wines and champagne are comelementary am I correct?

One question: so people with dietary needs be best not to opt for such a class even if they can afford because the stuff they offer are all useless - chocolate, alcohol, cream etc. Secondly, how can anyone keep consuming alcohol and expected to stay sober? I personally think alcohol is a product that should be only offered minimally. Like FDV cases, most airline disruption is caused by inebriated passengers.
I’ve never heard of an inebriated pax who didn’t seem to have a few screws loose even when sober. I’m an adult, just like on Terra firma, I’m more than capable of enjoying in moderation.
ICN to LHR on Asiana in Business. Other than that, this video for me is “I told you so” moment. Emirates service is a hit or miss depending on where you’re flying to or where you’re flying from. In. All. Classes.
road to 100k! I remember when you had a couple of thousand, congrats well deserved!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
The Jaguar XJ comment and the whisky in the paper cup have now officially made you my favourite travel vlogger 👌
Hahaha thanks very much
As a scotch lover Ice cubes do trigger some kind of disappointment in my heart. Whisky with ice is a crime in my world 😂😂😂
If it makes you feel better I also put ice in my coffee and beer 😉
I tend to watch quite a few travel reviews, yours are the best I've seen.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I was offered a buggy ride and a guide to the lounge when I got upgraded to First Class, I really didn't want the attention. I loved the first class lounge, it was almost empty because it was during the back end of Covid. Crazy service for a 42 min flight
Agree!

Was shocked at how good the cabin's condition was tbh. Even the newer 777s have scuffed edges (especially leather ones) in nearly every direction!
Love your work Kevin. We are enjoying a stay at the Ritz Carlton, Bali. It is wonderful, and your video really prepared us!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Thanks for the info + video!

Thanks Kevin, very enjoyable review . A 42 minute flight…….Don’t tell Greta!

Although it is the oldest First Class cabin of Emirates, it looks much better than Lufthansa‘s First Class.
Agreed- in layout at least.
Really enjoyed the entire video! You ou give credit where it’s due. Crew really fried make a huge difference!

Great video! How ironic that the "newer" aka the game changer "suite and service" were outshown by this older but still kicking strong service!
Indeed!
Hey mate, on the short hops, emirates will provie pyjamas and the bvlgari amenity kits on request I believe. They are part of the ticket ;)

Was trying to, but they cancelled my flight twice.
This does not look like a sub 1-hour flight XD

Amazing how much service you received on a 200 mile flight and united does not offer on a 900 mile flight.
To be fair United does have an International first class either lol
Do you prefer the Royal Salute 21 over Macallan 18 whiskey if you had the choice?
If I'm honest, since I genuinely do prefer any spirits on the rocks, when they're cold there's not much of a difference to me. So, if I'm paying I'll take the cheaper, if it's free, the more expensive 😂.

That 1st class suite was so posh, I'm surprised they didn't have Grey Poupon in the elevator mini bar ffs.
OK good job Kev

In the 2 categorys that you ding them on, why did you minus points for them?
Just the age and dated feel of the cabin and aircraft. For a flight so short, not a problem whatsoever- but would be wrong to give perfect scores for a very old product- when they also offer three newer versions.
What was the main source for your skyward miles? (Credit card or flying)
Also can’t wait for the Asiana business class.
This was my first (2) flights with Emirates... all credit card points.
I noticed the pricing of all the champagne's and wines I'm assuming on Emirates 777 First class or any Emerates First class the wines and champagne are comelementary am I correct?
Yup, all free.
First view
Thanks for watching 🩴
With miles it’s all fine but wow do they charge a ton of $$ for first class!
Very true
Awesome so how much u afford thus are u a multi millionaire East life
Or do I just know how to earn and utilize points, like the ones I used to pay for this flight...? lol
I fly Emirates say one ot teice a yr but never afford 1st class plus need to be flying everyday to rack up points
Meat tenderizer tablet. 🤣🤣🤣
Glad someone caught that 😂
Uncomfortable with queue-jumping, even when directed to? Why, you're almost a Brit, or a Canadian, Kevin.
Amused by your being escorted to Row 1.
Real flowers?
Good review.
I try to be as low key as possible... if there's a designated line that I'm allowed to take advantage of, that's one thing... but just lifting all the barriers and cutting... cringe worthy for me lol.
I find you pay too much. So often. If you pay for J & F fares, why not utilize some airlines' free "base" stopover?
Because I had no use for it? lol... Please find me BRU-DXB-MCT in EK First for less than I paid. Happy to be proven wrong.
Short flight. Just fly economy. Amemities worth $20 max? Waste of money.
The last sip of whiskey from my paper cup was worth more than $20.
Looks very chintzy.
To each their own

Kevin - Face reveal at 100k subs?
Ok fine. How about a neck-down reveal?
You’ll have to live with knee down for the foreseeable future.
I loved the tool reference Kevin. I didn't know that was a North American thing. usually said by Australians . Yes 100 k subs will be special
Haha for all I know we got it from y’all! In concept, it does sound like more of an Aussie thing lol
Great video. Muscat is a must-visit.
Agree!
Kevin you do a great video. Thanks for you efforts. Mark

Would love to experience those eye rolls while being escorted to the gates. For the meantime, I'd be just one of those passengers rolling their eyes 😂
Rolling them hard I presume 😅
Wow....what's a service for a short flight...Great job Kelvin.
