For any leadership the qualities that are essential are unwavering honesty, integrity, accountability and credibility. These qualities are sine qua non for anyone who is aspiring to be a parliamentarian, government servant or to be any other professional.
Mr. Ranil Wickramsinhe holds the view that there is no proper sophisticated mechanism to eradicate corruption in the government or in the private sector. His premise does not hold water. Because whether we have a highly sophisticated mechanism or not the leadership must be able to start somewhere to curb/control/eradicate corruption. In this sense, irrespective of one's political affiliation, I think and believe President Aunra Kumar Dissanayake has made a start to look into all matters that were put under the rug by the previous governments. We, the Sri Lankans wish President Anura Kumara Dissanayake every success in all his earnest endeavours to make Sri Lanka the beautiful shining pearl in the Indian Ocean. Congratulations!
