Exactly this!!! This is where I am. I just worked minor ascending and descending modes thru 12 keys. I changed the 1 chord to a Major and the V chord to a dominant. I can hear a lot of things going on in a new realm with the changed 3rds and 7ths.
I can already use all the chromatic tones as connectors between two scale tones, up and down, and I can use passing chords I am real interested in adding patterns with non diatonic notes, used in purposeful ways. I put it this way to myself. Imagine that each mode is a necklace. 7 necklaces makes a grand necklace. Now I want the grand necklace to have other decorative necklaces. All purposefully designed in and understood. That's my mind map.
    Thanks for reading.

Could you maybe give some exercises in the future for: How to work your way around key centers and ways of practicing it?

Man, thank you so much Parker! This is one of the best descriptions/summaries of this concept. For me, this is one of the most important steps when it comes to trying to improvise. To be able to play what you want, when you want and where you want it is what I’ve been striving for. Im glad you’re enjoying it as well.

Merci. This is out of my pay grade for now. I'm still learning the basics of triads, and using Bach Chorales to learn. I made the mistake of watching jazz videos when I first started out and practicing seventh chords whilst I was lacking in the basics. So I made a decision to work on the fundamentals. I've gone back to my Level 1 Method Books several times. My piano teacher is supportive of my decisions and is giving me guidance. I understood what you were explaining, but if I tried to play it there would be something missing.
One teacher was talking about levels of piano. She said that she had students that studied for one to two years before they were at the Beginner Level. That humbled me, but also inspired me. She said that Jazz should be started by Level 8 students. I agree, since I don't like mediocre jazz musicians.
Gospel is not jazz, it's sound is much more appealing to me. I want to put in the time and eventually play Gospel.

Lawrence, I start the same way lol. I was learning intermediate concepts as a beginner and didn’t realize it would affect me later on. So I did the same thing. Humbled myself and went back to the basics. So it’s cool to hear someone else with a similar story.
Don’t worry about fully grasping it all now. I wanted to make some introductory lessons on some concepts I’ve been developing, but I plan on using them and referencing in more videos because I try to make things connect as much as possible. Anyways, thanks for this comment!

Being where I am in my late beginner/early intermediate learning process; I like the breakdowns and explanations you have, I enjoy seeing the chart in these videos as well and also referring to these chords using the number system. Very good all around teaching, keep grinding with the content and I’ll be tuning in.

It may help to say, for example, "Maj (Maj 3rd below RT of target)" but I understand the space limitations

Yes Parker! That’s it! Thank you. I’m all for being clear as possible. So I will have to try to figure out the spacing so I can write it like that because I love how you worded it. Thanks again.
