    0:35 Prednisone side effects
1:42 How to support your adrenals
3:18 Foods that support the adrenals
In this video, we’re going to talk about the dangers of using prednisone. Prednisone is a synthetic version of cortisol.
Prednisone is used for rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases, skin issues, and more. I believe this drug is being given out too much, and it has a lot of serious side effects.
    Side effects of prednisone:
    • Muscle wasting
    • Inactive adrenals
    • More inflammation
    • Diabetes
    • Low immune system
    • Insomnia
    • Cataracts
    • Hip fractures
    • Liver damage
    • Shrinking testes
    • Low libido
    • Belly fat
In my opinion, once you start taking prednisone, as time goes on, you’re going to need more and more of it. Your adrenals won’t be strong enough, and you'll need to build them back up.
Three things that will support your adrenals:
    1. My Adrenal and Cortisol Support supplement
    2. NAC
    3. Stinging nettle root
    Foods that support the adrenals:
    1. Dandelion tops
    2. Beet tops

it is a steriod, i personally had an increase in appetite, energy surges, dry mouth which lead to increased water intake causing frequent pee breaks. My grandfather suffered a lot of negative LONG TERM side affects which basically destroied this body from the inside out. His liver was due to fail at any moment, his bones were brittle, and he was on countless other medication to counteract the flaws in predisone.

I was given an iv of 125mg of methylprednisolone (solu-medrol) two months ago in the ER for an allergic reaction that gave me rashes and it gave me a rare case of extensor tendonitis on top of both feet. Even tho it got better it’s still here and more mild but now my right tibia is aching/cramps/contractions. It’s already two months and still my feet have not improved 100% smh. Sometimes my neck gets stiff. This thing is hell and garbage. I do not recommend corticosteroids like methylprednisolone, prednisone or prednisolone to anyone unless it’s a emergency or something extremely serious and urgent. But the first 5-7 days was a disaster. I couldn’t sleep, heart rate was high, blood pressure was high, low grade fever. Anxiety, trouble breathing, dude it was a disaster

I was given prednisone before and after nasal surgery. While on it, I felt invincible (energetic, running up and down stairs, etc., etc.) But, the down side is, I gained quite a bit of weight. Now that I'm finished with my prescription, my joints hurt and I'm having a very hard time losing the weight. BUT, I can breathe. I fully understand your comments and totally agree. Breathing was my priority and now I'll deal with the consequences of the medication.

I am on Pred for long term. I've been using this medication from last 7 years (max 90mg to min 5mg) on and off and almost every day in last two years. I see lot of side effects, mainly, Weak bones, loss immunity, mood swings, pimples, appetite (weight gain). They are not noticeably dangerous yet, but I should be careful and look for another medication.

This isn’t a real doctor. He’s not an md
I’ve got rheumatoid arthritis and Been on 60mg a day for 20 yrs
While you’re on prednisone you def want your doc checking your bone density. If that’s an issue
I have had no side effects like diabetes or any medical issues
But don’t ever just stop taking prednisone
You need to be bc taken off slowly. And if you’ve been in this long term. Very slow over months
So your body will start making it again
Side effects from stopping are really severe fatigue
      And pain/inflammation
If you are worried about side effects
Mayo Clinic has done studies on prednisone If you can take 20mg a day. That’s a safe dose that is not causing any side effects.

I had never taken a steroid in my life until last year when I changed jobs and had a lot of inflammation. The doc put me on 20 milligrams and I could not sleep, I had so much energy on my job which was great but then I came home and continued working in the house doing physical things. I need sleep and recovery for my body to be ready for the next work day. I was so grumpy coming off it. The positive thing was it makes you happy. A few months after I was off then the inflammation came back and I told the doctor to lessen the dosage to 5 milligrams. After reading and listening to videos such as this, I refuse to ever go on another dosage. Watching my diet more closely and listening to my body will be better. Also, I’m thinking I should dump the Statin drug I have been taking for the last 5 years. I believe it’s depleting my much needed hormones. Thanks Dr Berg, I enjoy your videos.

I got shingles and the dermatologist prescribed as my 4th round of steroids, 63 prednisone. I am asthmatic and very used to prednisone, I also knew I was in deep trouble after 9 days of taking this last round of steroids. So I got an appointment with an allergist/immunologist and he helped me come off the prednisone within 3 days. I am still struggling with breathing issues that were caused by taking too much prednisone.

I have to give an alternate view. For my arthritis I use a "burst" of Prednisone, 40 mg for 4 days, 30 mg for 4 days, 20 mg for 4 days, etc. This is about a three week cycle. Then I stop. I have tremendous relief from this for several months after the course. I don't have any of the physical or emotional side effects cited here. I think in its proper place Prednisone can be of great help; this of course is on an individual basis. Thanks.

I’m 60 and in good health. When I was 29 I was diagnosed with MS and took prednisone a couple periods. I thought it was the best drug I’ve ever had. It made me feel stronger and not require sleep. It makes you look moon faced and irritable when you go off it. I only had MS attacks for a couple years, none since. I know hard to believe how fortunate I am. I recently lost a life long friend 6 days older than myself to a massive heart attack. He was fit and the picture of health like myself for a 60 year old. His only problem was colitis which he took prednisone on and off 30 years. I believe this caused his heart attack. I also think when Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle hit so many home runs one year it was aided by Prednisone. No proof or even something I heard but I can see how this would help an athlete greatly.

@@EricBergHRV Hi doctor. I hope you are fine. I had chronic idiopathic urticaria and for this, the dermatologist gave me this drug. I used it for ten years daily 2 tablets of 0.5 milligrams. Now I have stopped taking It. But I have lost 7 kgs. Now I am 69, was 76 with them. But now I am having a problem with decreased appetite and poor digestion for 4 months. Then my lower legs bones are thin although the rest of the body is alright and I have facial pigmentation. My blood sugar, urine, LFT, and CBC tests are perfectly fine. But I am worried about my stomach problem and loss of weight.

This drug for my 80 years old father was more or less a miracle.
He was diagnosed with Lupus, a year after the diagnosis his kidneys started to fail, the nephrologist after a biopsy diagnosed him with one of the worst types of Lupus, Lupus Nephritis.
He was given 5mg (first two weeks 10mg) of Prednisone and since then (2012) he regained most of his kidney function (his proteinuria is almost gone).
For him Prednisone was a life saving medicine and yes, he eats healthy, his omega 3 (plenty of fish, chia seeds etc etc) rich diet didn't make a difference at all.

I took this pill for the first time in my life for inflammation in my back and disc(between L5 and S1) caused by a vehicle accident. My side effects were horrendous. I had already had a moderate headache today and went to severe. Then I lost almost all of my strength and had panic attack type symptoms of fear of dying and negative thoughts. Quite a few hours have gone by and my headache is gone from taking Tylenol and I feel so much better after the drug has subsided. I won't be taking another one again. It was horrible.

I've only been on about 2 mgs a day but then I just got cortisone shots in my knees back on May 5th. I've been following your Keto plan for several months now and lost about 20 pounds. I haven't eaten grains since October. I thought I was on the path to feeling great but now I am just dragging again. I gradually worked my way off prednisone about a month ago.
