- This is my landing as seen from inside the cockpit of the ATR-72/600 at the airport of Toncontin in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Toncontin Airport was ranked by History channel as the second most extreme airport in the world.
In order to land in runway 02, an aircraft must circle using visual references on the ground due to the irregular and high terrain around the airport.
Very often ground proximity alarms will be triggered approaching the final due to the nature of the terrain (minute 1:29 in the video).

Este es mi aterrizaje visto desde la cabina de mando del ATR-72/600 en el aeropuerto Toncontin en Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
El aeropuerto Toncontin fue clasificado como el segundo aeropuerto mas extremo por el History Channel.
Para aterrizar en la pista 02 las aeronaves deben circular usando referencias visuales en tierra, debido a lo irregular y elevado del terreno al rededor del Aeropuerto.
Frecuentemente las alarmas de proximidad de terreno se activan cerca de la aproximacion final debido a la naturaleza del terreno. (Minuto 1:29 en el video) - Наука та технологія

I've flown into Tegucigalpa myself. Definitely the most exciting and funnest landing I've ever had. Great job landing I can imagine the tension on the pilots must be extreme.

What sucks is how much the government is stealing from the people while making this airport, with how much they say it will cost they could’ve easily repaired the 3 other major airports on the country, this isn’t just speculation either, people have done the math.
@@phisikz98 EVERYTHING about the Honduran government sucks, the main thing that they work on is keeping the population uneducated, underfed, overworked, and overstressed with all the violence they directly cause by working hand in hand with the criminal organizations in the country so they can steal and sell off the country's resources undisturbed..and the OEA, ONU and UNH have been infiltrated and corrupted to a level that no one says or does anything, damn shame...lovely people, lovely country.

Watching my favorite most challenging approach and most terrifying, I must say the angle of the camera makes this seem more menacing due to the impression that at any second you are crashing into the hills; pretty close to true but this way it's nerve-wracking. Makes you feel the pilot's real position actually and make it seems all the more in the present moment.

Now there aren’t, because of the pandemic but there was one that landed at 8pm but that’s it

Se ve espectacular! y eso que no es asi de facil aterrizar en Tocontin. Lo que si no sabia es que Avianca tuviera aviones con cabrillas como el Boeing, yo solo Airbus he visto, supongo q ese ha de ser un ATR-42 o 72.

That looked like a challenging approach. Great job! I like how you confirmed you are visual with the terrain when the gpws went off. With that approach, I would think the gpws call out is normal during the approach. Awesome job from one ATR brother to another. 👍👍👍

There is a tiller on the left hand side, next to the left leg to controll the airplane on the ground. It is used below 70 knots after landing.

Did you land with the help of ILS ?
Not at all. There is no ILS in Toncontin. And the VOR approaches do not lead to a direct landing. You must circle by visual reference on the ground.

No es una licencia especial, pero en aerolineas se necesita una calificacion de ruta anual, por que el aeropuerto es categoria "C"

It is perfectly safe, we are specially trained for this airport, and we hace flown there for a long time.

aviation must be inherently amazing because there was nothing remarkable about this landing and yet after watching it to touchdown I began quietly clapping for these guys
Landing in Toncontin requires a little mix of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit + Pilots who love adrenaline. OMG he landed this massive machine with ONE hand ONE hand. AMAZING. God bless all the pilots

No, al aterrizar a menos de 70 nudos, el capitan debe agarrar el cobtrol cob el timon de tierra. Los copilotos vuelan casi la mitad de los vuelos tambien

i see theat the capitan has glases , and i want to become a pilot too, i got -0.5 on right eye and -0.75 on left eye i can doo all thinghs with or without my glases but , for an airline pilot i need a medical certificat class 1 can i get it with my "eye problem "
If the glasses correct the problem, you will pass the medical exam. You just have to carry an extra pair of glasses with you when you fly.
