Still works 8-21-2023. I did it a little different than the video. 1. Follow the video exactly including feeding the horse multiple times. 2. It would not give me the choices to bond with the horse when I held R2(ps5). I was able to feed it by going straight to my horse-food menu. I fed it 4 times, then mounted it. 3. I then brushed the horse multiple times to ensure we bonded. Because the law is investigating during this time, you will not see any bonding confirmation. I gave the horse a total of 4 feedings and 10 brushings. 4. I stayed in the stable brushing the horse until the investigation & complaint of disturbing the peace was done. 5. You will notice that the icon for the horse shows as a temp horse on your radar. I then left the horse in its pen & went outside & started to whistle multiple times. The horse wants to follow you but cant jump its pen. 5. After whistling for it for a few minutes, I went back into the stable. The Turkoman horse appeared as my own with the options to upgrade, sell, etc. It seems the key to getting it for free is to bond with it before the police investigating is done.
@@aldotheapache9951 This is true. Early in the game buying horses is a waste of money. They tend to be subpar horses and there's much better things to buy like camp upgrades. By the time you reach chapter 3, you should have obtained nearly everything you'll need or want for the game plus some. Money then starts to pile up so really the only thing worth purchasing is good horses.
I got the Dark Bay Turkoman from the Braithwaite mission. Just finished "Headless Horseman', saved game, reloaded, and another Dark Bay Turkoman was at the hitch by the Shady Belle campfire. Now I have two. One named Cerberus Level 4 the other Turkoman Level 1.
I got that Turkoman too, bonded with it and used it for ages and then one day the game decided to just replace it with a Kentucky Saddler which had the exact same maine and tail (you know how you edit them in the stables) and it was still wearing the exact same saddle bags etc. Annoyed.
@@elgringo1893 this happened to me too, but I realized when I was in a town I took the wrong horse (I do that quite often). I didn’t realize it until I tried to switch my revolver and couldn’t.
@@donthaveaname1086 for me it was because I got the Dark Bay Turkoman through the braithwaite mission glitch and obviously the game somehow came to realise later on that I shouldn't have had that horse for some reason
I like the dark Bay from the mission Horsemeat for dinner personally, but this wagon approach is a cool trick. Still, I'm a Foxtrotter rider for life. The Arabians are to skittish, and while the Turkomans are fast , they just accelerate so slow and handle like a tractor

The Fox trotter is my favorite too. You always see people talk about Arabians but there so easy to get and they always buck you off at the worst moments.

I had a gold Turkoman on my first playthrough. Named him Freddie. I found him in Saint Denis and later learned the spot where I got him was a glitched spot to get good horses.

I have the Dark Bay Turkoman. This is great horse to have. Once bonded enough, it get fast, but the acceleration sucks outright. I hunt, and I'm NOT going to have an Arabian horse bucking me off every time I fire a gun.
Wolf jumped me and Turkoman bucked me off. Fully bonded too. Cougar too. I sold him after that. The agility and quickness of the redchestnut Arabian is my go to horse. I spent 50% of the game with the fox trotter. Overall great horse. But after riding the Arabian and I got back on my Fox trotter and it felt sluggish and weighty compared to the Arabian even though my Fox trotter is 10 speed maxed out from winning races. Acceleration makes a real difference with horses.

Sold both my white Arabian and my gold Turkoman when I noticed that they get nervous from just riding in saint Denis whilst my Hungarian half bred and black shire are not. I am looking for a decent Overall horse which does not get scared easily and buck me off.

I feel you on that, I’m personally planning on stopping the missions once I reach chapter 4. Most everything you really need is unlocked at that point.
Fastest way to bond with a horse is by using horse meal, kinda expensive and hard to make, but kinda worth it in this situation, you can find the currant near elysian near annesburg in roanoke area
Turkoman is race horse but not pure race horse because it's high breed like Missouri Fox Trotter, we all know. When comes to speed and stamina Missouri Fox Trotter best compare with Turkoman but when comes to health Turkoman is best. Dark Bay Turkoman it's best Turkoman in Red Dead Redemption 2 because prettier than other two and even all statues same with Gray Turkoman and Gold Turkoman and also cost 25 dollars less than other two. Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter prettiest Missouri Fox Trotter and also one of the prettiest horse in whole game. Some of the horse breeds it's best to get it as John in Epilogue 2 as Arthur and Strawberry Roan Ardannes are one of them.
This doesn’t work for me. If I shoot the ceiling, it boots me out of the stable. If I don’t shoot the ceiling, I enter the stable options. Update: Found a different way. Stand inside the back area w/register, wearing a mask, shoot someone across the street. Stable doors will shut with you inside.
I tried this, it worked. But after a while (Mary Linton mission - part 2), my horse simply vanished and turned into a Tenessee Walker, damn I'm mad af, wasn't even into bond level 2, I think I will to do this shit all over again, really liked the horse, c'mon ...
I've had every Turkoman, I'm currently on the last try with them it's the silver buckskin from tumbleweed. We'll see how this one does but the other two were crap. They were more skiddish than an arabian. Snakes, alligators, cougars, wolves, bears, gunfights, loud noises. They bucked and whined about everything. I haven't found a great horse yet but I think i might have found a keeper in a dutch warmblood i almost killed with a stick of dynamite.
My dark bay will die standing there in ery gunfight, with bears, wolf packs, stomp snakes ect, im starting to think too after yrs that or its rng, or some ppl are just pretending their horse stomps a bear or something ( i crushed on bears with some horses) if turkomans arent doing well for u cause they scary, try andalussians or hungarians, they pree solid generally.But for my experience if u press the calm down key properly, no horse gonna buck you off at lvl 4 if u do it right.I hunted with the black arabian, the only way he was more skittish, is cause he would sense danger from a mile.Mustangs are pree solid too, but u need lvl 4 affinity in ery horse, so they dont throw u to the ground and press the calm button, i had pummas sniffing my feet while in my turkoman, and he was chillin.
Horse bravery mechanic isn't real. It's more about how much the horse is bonded and whether you calm the animal down or not, and also the way you move around predators. I think it would've been cooler if it was real tho, since it seems interesting.
@@brawlsauceit's definitely a thing. I've experimented with a few different breed horses on a bridge surrounded by alligators just outside Shady Belle. All horses LVL 4 bonded, well fed and groomed. 3 out of the 4 horses in my stable would buck me off and not make it across the bridge. All while pressing the calm button. However my HHB would get a little uncomfortable but made it across unphased. Tried this multiple times with the same results
I stole a Dutch warmblood one time and came back recently to find a new one in the same stable. So maybe? But it showed up AFTER I had resold it. So perhaps you can just have one at a time in the game
U can do the same trick in chapter 3, when u steal horses one of them is the same bread and it's a male and it has a unique brand tattoo on the back also cool color
This no longer works on the Steam version. None of the horses are intractable. Even worse, it seems to have broken my save game. I have zero bounties. But no matter what stable I enter, anywhere on the map, I immediately get "witnessed murder" even though I haven't killed anyone, nor even taken any weapons out.
That was my favourite horse until it walked off a fkn cliff the dumb shit! 😂 Level 4 bonded. Jumped off my horse, and the idiot just fell over a cliff. I jumped straight after it screaming "RATFUNK!!!!" (as that WAS his name) but alas, I was too late. And my 200+ hours best friend was dead! It was heartbreaking. 😂😂
I used a different variation on the technique to rob mostly the Blackwater Stable, but also the Stable South of Strawberry. It's more challenging robbing those Stables, but I enjoyed the thrill of the challenge & robbed at least 6 horses from them.
Thats because the horses are unlocked , the gold turkoman is only available in chapter 4 , same with the amber champagne fox trotter in the emerald ranch stable
I hate the limited amount of horses you can have in a stable because I have a few Arabians and now I really want this I’ll try to figure out something🫤
Sell the damn Arabians bro lmao. You can get the white one again it respawns. They're not as valuable as people make them out to be. The harder horses to get is the Missouri Fox Trotter and the Turkoman and they all have different pros and cons. Arabians are the easiest horse to get. White, the spjndled one, and the chestnut one all spawn in definite locations. I know the white one respawns for sure but the others I'm not 100%. better to have a variety of cool horses than all arabians
@@mudsippa The arabians arent that rare, they all respawn, except from the one in St. Denis. That one I havent been able to get back the same way twice in the same chapter. But so far, I've only worked my way on the Chapter 2 horses. (Brindle TB, all arabians and that perlino andalusian up north-east)

This is not possible at the moment.. Everything changes.. Dark bay is the real one you can have.. In chapter 3, braithwaite's mission "The Handless Horseman". Make sure to save the file before... Trust me, you get the Turkoman type "Dark Bay

Heres a curveball on brave horses vs skittish ...... I got the white Mustang, level 4 bonded and the Dark Bay Turkoman from chapter 3 also level 4 bonded. Did a predator bravery test with both horses on a Gator. Both horses were okay with riding around it until it roared. My level 4 Turkoman threw me the first time, and the White Arabian did not throw me on the Gator roaring 3x on a pass, with this so-called skittish horse . Both were using same tacke and I calmed both during the test. Funny thing why the supposedly brave Turk threw me on the first Gator roar and my white Arabian didnt after 3 roars from the Gator. My arabian is a braver soul than my brave Turkoman GO FIGURE...
But when you feed by holding L2, it feeds random stuff you might be saving. You can't pick what it feeds. I never do that because I save the crafted horse meals and the ingredients to make those horse meals so I have them when I need them. To much trouble collecting and making them especially since I can only carry 3 at a time right now... Feel ya on the aiming part tho, LoL
Doesn't work. It wouldn't even let me feed the horse because once you get close to it, it won't even bring up the "horse" tab in your menu. Just "weapons" and "items."
After I beat this game (for third time) i am coming back as John to take revenge on any St Denis police who killed my horse. (This is a video game not real life)

It did that for me as well but i just went into the stables already under investigation then it worked
It did that to me at the other stables now when I enter them it says all horses have been removed and I can’t even buy one now.

That’s weird. I could literally trample gators to death with my Turkoman. Never used the routes in the bayou, drew straight lines for my destination.

I used the wagon to get this horse and it worked perfectly, this horse is avalible in chapter 4 thats when i got it.
Just lost my Gold Turkoman Adriana because of that Penelope Braithwaite train mission. Was just a saddle left at the side of the tracks😢

Didn’t work for me 01/14/24. After shooting the roof as soon as I get off the wagon I am Immediately taken outside and the stable doors are closed.

This definitely doesn't work early Ch2, 1/22/23 (On PC, Rockstar game launcher) The only horses in the stable will be your own.

@@mudsippa The arabians arent that rare, they all respawn, except from the one in St. Denis. That one I havent been able to get back the same way twice in the same chapter. But so far, I've only worked my way on the Chapter 2 horses. (Brindle TB, all arabians and that perlino andalusian up north-east)
Can you do this for other stables or for the dark arabian in there?

What chapter do you have to be for it to be in the stables? I'm on chapter three and there's no horses at the Saint Denis stables.

Same. I'm in Chapter 3... Been on chapter 3 for a couple of months because I wanna give Arthur a long life surrounded by nature and full of experiences now that I know what happens to him.... Dutch has been waiting for me to meet him at the Rhodes sheriff's office for weeks, LoL... Hope him and that sheriff get along well, because it's gonna be awhile before I show up. 😂

This is not possible at the moment.. Everything changes.. Dark bay is the real one you can have.. In chapter 3, braithwaite's mission "The Handless Horseman". Make sure to save the file before... Trust me, you get the Turkoman type "Dark Bay

Heres a curveball on brave horses vs skittish ...... I got the white Mustang, level 4 bonded and the Dark Bay Turkoman from chapter 3 also level 4 bonded. Did a predator bravery test with both horses on a Gator. Both horses were okay with riding around it until it roared. My level 4 Turkoman threw me the first time, and the White Arabian did not throw me on the Gator roaring 3x on a pass, with this so-called skittish horse . Both were using same tacke and I calmed both during the test. Funny thing why the supposedly brave Turk threw me on the first Gator roar and my white Arabian didnt after 3 roars from the Gator. My arabian is a braver soul than my brave Turkoman GO FIGURE...

The fact that you manually aim upwards to shoot the roof and don't feed the horse by holding L2 triggers me more than I ever thought it would lmao
But when you feed by holding L2, it feeds random stuff you might be saving. You can't pick what it feeds. I never do that because I save the crafted horse meals and the ingredients to make those horse meals so I have them when I need them. To much trouble collecting and making them especially since I can only carry 3 at a time right now... Feel ya on the aiming part tho, LoL
The problem is that I have only one horse in the stable and is not that good. Do I need to advance the story?

Doesn't work. It wouldn't even let me feed the horse because once you get close to it, it won't even bring up the "horse" tab in your menu. Just "weapons" and "items."
Same problem for me, but I found it still works. You stand next to the horse, then go to your horse menu & feed it that way. Mount it & feed it too.
Alwas wondered, does the stat of horses matter? They all look the same as how fast they are ?
not too much the handling seems to help make sharper/faster turns tho. to me at least.

In the same Stable, you can get the Black Arabian (the black horse on the left of the Turkoman Gold)

This game is too easy. Im on chapter 2 and already have a B+ grade horse. Id say this horse here is S tier by comparison.
at chap 2 you can already have S tier horses like arabian or missouri fox trotter

Me personally I just steal the Turkoman from the Braithwaites in chapter 3
Two times works then run out of the stables
For me it doesn't work no more, at least you can't tame it in any way
I always name my turkoman Stuffing. Nothing else to comment.
