That's exactly what I thought. She made absolutely no effort catch her dog or call him back and she was in no state to be able to look after the dog or to control him. The police should have arrested her for wasting police time and locked her up.

Both of those officers dealing with the Eritrean guys are models of humanity. And they're absolutely right, people don't flee halfway across the world if their home country is okay.

Except they do, most are economic migrants looking for countries with benefits so they can send that cash back to their families. Which is why so many come from countries that are not dangerous but just poor, and why they skip past numerous other safe countries and B-line to the west. It's not safety they want otherwise they would want to be someplace safe but close, instead they travel halfway across the world to the nearest first world country that is handing out free cash.

Could be either. Lots of people in the border regions speak languages found in both countries. But yeah, a lot easier to claim Eritrea as ground for asylum due to the current dictatorship and political oppression. The UK has very good investigators these days though, people who speak several languages of African regions and are familiar with geography and such, making faking it harder and harder.
Could be, lots of instability in that region in the past few years so Im assuming it wasnt great back when this was filmed either

It is legal to enter a country in order to claim asylum. You’d be able to file an asylum claim and you’d be looked after until that claim was assessed.
