8:10 Arendal 1961 speaker SOUND Review
I would like you to compare it to the XTZ M8 speaker
How do they compare to Tekton 2 10 Perfect Set?
I've got the 1723 for my 7 channel base level home theater. I can't explain how much better they are at enveloping you in movie tracks than my older set up. Which was no slouch. When I first got them and was playing 2 channel only, by wife asked it all 7 were playing due to the emersive deep Soundstage. Even before I installed by 4 ATMOS speakers, the sound field still filled the room including overhead. They are spectacular in their price range for both two channel and home theater.
I bought a pair of the Arendal 1961 towers about 6 months ago after watching all the positive reviews here on UA-cam. I like them very much. They are very honest reproducers. The smaller size is a good fit for my living room. They sound just as good a low volume as they do at high volume. The build quality is very impressive! The outriggers and spikes are quite nice. I have them setting on Herbie's Spike Decoupling Gliders. You get more for your money when you buy direct from the manufacturer.
I want to order. I'm from India
Arendal makes killer products, i use 1723 1s subwoofer and its amazing for music i was simply blown away by it
I bought these during covid and I love them 🙂 even with my moderate receiver Sony DN1080 they sound great (paired with 1961 surround and 1723S center)
I also tried them with my stereo setup Atoll IN200 Signature great matching (I use buchardt S400 in hifi setup)
Really like the Arendal build. Top 3 in my wish list for theater.
Hello Jay, Thank you for the review on the Arendal 1723 THX< I use the B&W 800 D3's, and decided to acquire a set of this Arendal and I must say, I am extremely surprise of the quality, Imaging and clear sound that this speakers produce and more for the money. I have been a Audiophile for about 40 years now. Yes I am 66 ::)) And yes spend a lot of money on my media and theater rooms over the years. Congratulations on your channel/ I did mentioned your name on my review.
Glad I could help!
@@Jayiyagi Very appreciated for sure.
Great review, as always.
Arendal VS the Martin Login new line, XT F100 or F200?
Good review Jay. Appears to be an outstanding loudspeaker for the money.
I like your channel very knowledgeable and I build speakers so I look at different speakers for ideas.
Thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear this works well with the Sabaj A30a..
Are you planning to review the sabaj a30a anytime soon? I'm curious seeing that you've placed it in your amplifier recomendations and already mentioned it in previous videos. Do you think it would pair well with the elac unifi reference bookshelf speakers (ubr62)? Thanks in advance
i like the upper bass punch, since i have been on standmount size speaker for decades now that is what been missing and a normal powered subwoofer won't help much unless you get some dsp to make a crossover.
my point is that 180hz is what you need to get some power into. if you can either have these arendal sound profile and then add a subwoofer for full range or have small main speakers and 180hz crossover between those and two stereo subwoofers.
How would you compare these to the Paradigm 800Fs?
Like the new look of the channel
Thanks for the review.
Yello is actually not a track, it's a Swiss electronic music duo, although practically only one member composes all the sounds: Boris Blank.
You should definitely listen to more tracks. Almost always fantastic sound quality.
Yello is awesome!
🇨🇭🎵🎶🎉
They look nice too
I know a while back you did a review on the Totem Metal V2, curious if you could do a review on the Sonus Faber G2 Serafinos
I'm considering the bookshelf version for a desktop/nearfield setup and add a subwoofer. Deciding between Amphion Argon and these. Amphions are a lot more expensive though.
I have the 1961 bookshelves for my computer setup paired with a xtz sub 8.17. But I have a pioneer a a9j amp to drive them and it's not enough. They require more power. I mean its good, but when I played them with my Anthem / xtz a2 300 2x300w power amp, they really come alive! Holy shit😂
@ Jay. Not to be too personal or anything, can you please tell me what type of listening chair that is? The chair looks awesome.
How about the 1723S?
How do these compare to the R700? That tower also got an amazing review from you; I'm debating which one to get .
R700 is cheaper right now on sale for $899 each
I've heard the Arendals are more dynamic, but the R700 is more neutral. I got a pair of R700 in January and the mids and highs are so clean. They might not play as loud as the Arendals since they don't have THX certification.
Get the Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G if listening Music is equally important than Home cinema to you, there is truly no better allrounder. Both the Polk R700 and Arendal 1961 are excellent for Movies and Games with that heavy Bass, that don't require a Subwoofer, but for Music I would say they are just "OK". There the KLH Model 5 and Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G for my taste would be the better choice.
@@TheAntifluencer I have completely different experience with monitor audio bronze & silver. Both sound cold and lean on a midrange. Polk reserve is more refined and arendal is way more refined and balanced. Monitor audio has clean punchy bass though.
Which ones are r700? Whole name please?
Has anyone compared these to svs ulta towers? Just wondering if these out bass the ultras.
Hi Jay, thanks for another killer review. I have Arendal’s 1723 1S sub which I currently have paired with the Totem Tribe Towers powered by an H390. I’m 100% music only hence why I have the 1S sub and it’s a lovely combination. I’m also a bass head but quality clean bass and this review is now making me very curious. I may just take advantage of Arendal’s amazing trial period. But wanted to ask your honest opinion what I would miss from the Totems and by how much? I do wish I had more mid bass punch currently so your experience is making me salivate once again! 😊. Cheers!
I still think the Totem wins overall here but arendal does have a more visceral punch in the midrange. Maybe as a different or 2nd speaker but I don’t think it will replace your totems
Vs Polk R700?
Same price as r700. Going in for the r700 with the next paycheck
@@happydogg312 yeah I got em. Very impressive monsters. Endgamers for movies and music. No need for subs either. Great deal since I don't feel I need a 5.1. I'm pairing it with the dark lord Naim 5si. Bliss
@@psysword
What is the amplifier for this speakers
Also , don't we need a separate sub for watching movies ?
hey Jay could you tell me where did you buy the diffusor behind your speaker?! i really Like the color
it was custom made for my room
Your floor is trashed from all the speaker spikes. Can these use casters?
Hi Jay, and thanks for another great review😊
Stricktly for punch, would you say the 1961 or 1723 is best? (Will be 4 subs in the setup).
Strictly for “punch” I’d have to give it to the 1961
@@Jayiyagi
Thanks for your reply😊
Punch is what I want from a speaker, it is not that easy to fix with subs.
Which one would be easier to drive with willsenton r800i 1961 @87 sensitivity or the 1723 with 92 sensitivity thanks
1723 is easier to drive but your willsenton should have no problem powering both speakers in a small to medium sized rooms
Yeah definitely compare to the Polk R700. It’s a no brainer.
these Arendal speakers or UPGRADED DUAL ARRAY Tekton Pendragon oR Martin Logan Motion XT-F200 (AIR TWEETER, 6INCH CONE MID AND THREE 8 INCH ALUMINUM CONE WOOFERS?
Jay how do they compare to the KLH KANDALL????
I'm curious how these would compare to CSS Criton 2tdx towers. I'm assembling a home theater and am trying to decide between Arendal and CSS Audio.
I have owned the 2TD-X towers and MTM's. I would buy the Arendal's.
I have the Arendal 1723 towers, the CSS 1tdx bookshelf, and the 2tdx center. All of them are amazing. The CSS with the upgraded crossovers are hard to argue with. Problem is, Arendal is near perfect. In your case I would go with the Arendal because you get more drivers and presumably more bass. And go for the 1723's if you can afford it. They are monster end-game speakers.
I don’t know if it’s the camera angle but Jay you look huge in this video.
I’m a pretty big boy. Some commented about that after the pic of me, big Jay and OCD mikey at Florida Expo. Lol 😂 I’m not as short or small as some may think! Or maybe I am and it’s all camera angles, you will never know!
Please Jay, What is this big Speaker Cable behind the Arendal that we see here ? Thanks
Sanctus audio
Would you say the Arendal 1961 is at least as good as the Klipsch RP-8000F (if not better) in terms of sound quality (details/sweetness), stage, imaging, non-fatigueness? I am scared to upgrade without a comparison, but I hope you have some memory of the Klipsch's sound.
It is definitely less fatiguing than the Klipsch 8000F and easier to set up.
@@Jayiyagi Cool! So it is definitely an upgrade to my system then. Even the 10 year warranty is a great upgrade too. Thanks a lot!
@@tonezou3918well, it can’t hurt to try. They have a whopping 60day risk free trial too!
These versus Dynaudio Evoke 30?
Aperion Theatrus t80's would be a good review even their tower speakers for review and comparison.
Wait, I was wondering as well why you said it's for 50/50 - movies/music.
Are they not good for music alone?
They lack detail compared to other $2000 speakers, or they lack something else?
I can listen to any music even with the mid bass boost though, I don't mind it.
Arendal says they design for music, and if it's good for music it will be good for movies.
1723 Tower S will be next review?
How does it compare the bass with that of Totem?
As stated in the review these have punchier bass than the TTT. It was a lot more enjoyable with my system and what I was wishing the Totems had. Really amazing for the price and the Totems we're sold.
You are saying that they are punching bass monsters and other UA-cam reviewers says that the bass isn't powerful enough and requires subwoofers, not sure who to trust now. I am now confused now,how does it compare against Klipsch RP-8000f ?
Nice review, Jay! Question for you. What is the width of your room? Also, how far do you usually have your speakers out from the front wall, measuring from the front wall to the front baffle of the speakers? Thanks!
oof I would have to re-measure to tell you exactly but it's about 12ft wide. The positioning of the speakers vary from speaker to speaker but I usually START around 3 feet out into the room
@@Jayiyagi Thanks, Jay. I was just curious. I have been playing around with my speaker placement lately. It's probably just abstraction of the video but it looks like the BACK of your speakers are usually about 3 feet from the front wall as opposed to the speaker baffle to the front wall? I have my standmounts 3 feet from the front wall to the back of the speaker, 4 feet from the front wall to the front baffle of the speaker. Speakers are about 7.5 ft apart driver to driver centers. Room is 13.5 ft wide.
I have the Polk R700 and they are awesome for £2000 british pounds and really go low in bass around 30htz.. check out the review by this guy..
When will you provide an actual demonstration ?
I think you'll find lots of tower speakers that were primarily designed for HT drop off in the bass below 80hz. By design to match seamlessly with subs at the 80hz point.
Absolutely untrue...
Hi end is no end, less is more. Remember Music is born naked
great for Cinema and Games, but not as musical like my Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G. I must have heard every speaker in existence in that price range before picking them. Needless to say, I'am still waiting for a review on this channel.... worth checking out, since they edge out the Polk R700, Triangle Bro09, KLH Kendall and yea... Arendal 1961.
Cool, I will check out the Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G again. I heard them before but wasn’t interested in reviewing it as it wasn’t that impressive at the demo I was in
@@Jayiyagi there is even a korean dude called Fullrange who features them and talks about them a lot.
@@Jayiyagihello. Heard the monitor audio. But decide to buy the wharfedale evo 4.4. I am curious if you heard them before certainly because the pricerange is equal as the arendal
you need to compare these to something similar in specs
I think you meant to say “puck”, not “pluck”. 👍
Does anyone know if these speakers sound muffled with the port plugged?
Why would it sound muffled with the port plugged?
It would sound muffled if you put the foam block in front of the tweeter.
Generally if you block the port, it usually tightens up the bass.
When are you reviewing the Norma amp?
in the process of trying it will multiple different speakers :) it might take a while
@@Jayiyagi looking forward to it. A very interesting amp. ✌🏼
gimme dat bass
SInce you asked, how do they compare to.......Zu DW6
That Touch Yello album is like ASMR without headphones.
You put almost the same title for the previous with the Qtest
Hey Jay, How do Arendals compare to Tekton 2 10 Perfect Set? Thanks!
Or to the Double Impact?
. Putting the top woofer behind the middle woofer & the middle woofer behind the lower woofer does NOT a time alignment make.
Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
please please also review their 1723 thx s bookshelf.... they are about the same price
Your Bass excitement is dominating your review Bro…
If I use code and get gift do you get a gift as well? I’m worried that your gift is going to be better than mine. 😉
Ok, okay.. yes.. impressive. But does it have DEBAK like KLH Model 5?
Wow. How many times did you say "bass" in this review?
Actually tactility!!
I bought three of them and used the code but didn't receive any gift?
Message Arendal
You'll get the gift once the trial period ends. Sounds fair enough.
These or the Tekton Design Double Impact? thanks 👍🏽
Try the Tekton Lore's with the beryllium tweeters in the dark gray finish. They are amazing.
@@jamescease4280 Thanks, I currently own the original DI’s I think i’ll have to spend a bit more coin to surpass the DI’s and was interested in Jay’s opinion. I would consider getting the DI’s upgraded by Tekton as well.
So I’m unclear…is it dynamic, visceral and punchy in the mid-bass? Please don’t sugarcoat it Jay. 😂
What am I sugarcoating exactly?
One question:
Does the speaker have bass?
😂
Cute, just like you.
This seems like a speaker that's designed more for home theater than actual music based listening.
Id say it’s good for 50/50
What makes you think that
But how's the bass like :D
The W's and R's are sounding a little Bwitish. ;)
Soooo which is better The Arendal 1961s or The Q Acoustics Concept 50s???
Depends on what you want. The Arendal 1961 is more dynamic, punchy and clean sounding albeit a little unrefined. The concept 50s are warmer, easier to listen to and more refined.
@@JayiyagiI have tube amplifiers so I'm hoping they will give the necessary warmth to these speakers. Do you know what the gift is yet? I see it's still available on their website. 😊
Compare to Wharfedale Elysian 4?
Hi, I really appreciate the « bass » word removal from the title. The second video title is far better.
Crisp bass… Crisp bass…. Doesn’t really sound like something I want. Sounds like really bad distortion.
"insane bass" on a slim all middle oriented driver speaker. Maybe they have some bass but come on ... they are a compromise from the beginning with that design. baffle diffraction to the max. with multiple chassis at that. every DIY builder who played around with baffle designs knows how big the impact of a propper baffle wall is for lower frequencies.
Thank God the expert has showed up. Lucky for us because that UA-cam reviewer doesn’t really have much experience reviewing loudspeakers now does he I mean what would he know about base output
@@veroman007 nice counter arguments. really goes into depth how my baffle argument is invalid.
Baffle diffraction being a problem can be said about many speakers and not just the Arendals. Arendal 1961 with a slim front baffle actually helps reduce baffle diffraction than many out there. Every speaker design comes with a compromise whether it is diy or not. It is impossible to account for everything. For under $2000, it isn’t a poor design choice and compromises that Arendal has made here.
@@Jayiyagi never said anything bad about the speaker. all i said was that an incredible base is highly unlikely if not near impossible given the speaker design. Iam sure Arendal did build good speakers. I just dont think having base the woofers playing louder equals insane bass! and i would enjoy having a less click baity titel.
Overall i enjoyed your video and do so with most of your videos. Thanks for the content. I know uploading YT videos on a regular basis is hard and some factors are outside of your control. Like the algorithm.
Im now gonna go to bed, for America it should be early evening. So i wish u a great Sunday evening and a good start into the week.
It’s not simply playing “just louder” and I can see why you might think this without hearing them but you are free to have your own opinions of the speakers and my titles.
What in the world is that speaker spacing? Looks awful
This Speakers are not worth the $2K...,
i like my old Monitor Audio Studio Speakers
much much more..., for the half Price.
Have you tried the speakers to come to a conclusion that it’s not worth 2k?
39 Hz? What bass? The Nubert nuVero 110 aren't that much more expensive and play down to 32 Hz. The bigger ones go down to 23 Hz.
Mid bass... I hate mid bass. Speakers need to play low. 39 is far too high.
If you don’t like mid bass and prefer extension, then the Arendal 1961 alone isn’t for you.
