Subscribed, mainly because I keep seeing Harbor Freight tools in your hands and at present that's all I can afford! I want to watch someone work with the same tools I can afford and make me feel like I actually -can- 'get away' with them!!
Hell yeah! There are very few instances where the tool will determine the level of the finished product. It almost always comes down to the person behind the tool. Hence why I changed my logo to the sort of odd/creepy one I currently have... the hand is the tool of all tools :)
A beautiful build. Just had our yard wired for lights and have been looking for a good looking light to build. I really enjoy all the different angels of cuts, and assembling the lights. Nice job thank you for putting this out there!
@@Craftswright Thanks a lot, my friend! You are good people as well! 😊 But yeah, I make videos as well. (Don't bother checking, most of them are in Portuguese.) So I know exactly how you feel when someone post a positive comment. You know? And a negative as well... You know? And if I watch a video, like it and learn something... Why not? 😊
Hey Ken, I think it could totally work! The biggest hassle you’ll have is either requiring the light so the solar is separate and on top of the lid, or sealing the lid if you end up just recessing the light into the lantern
I think the optical illusion of it being square but not looking square is called ‘it’s going too well, what have I screwed up’ism’. It can also be seen in length, width height, twist, and cupping illusions.... :)
They look truly great ('Japanese' indeed). 2 things: - make the covers skew, so water will run off - I noticed a (small) gap underneath the cover - seal that off with e.g. insulation-tape, as it will prevent insects and spiders to squat the lanterns (yet, make some ventilation-holes, so heat can get out)
Yes, even a slight bevel will help with drainage. Otherwise water will just collect and either rot or mold up the top. BUT, still a very nice renovation of these lights and I love the design.
Wood is terrible when constantly fighting the rain and cold weather. If you char the inside and give it a coat, it will last longer. Using a plastic coating on the outside is better than varnish.
Subscribed, just so I can get a good, reliable source of mistakes, I want to learn from the best.... 🤔😉😆😆😆😆
Haha this comment made my day thank you 😂😂
You are welcome to contact me as well for a daily stream of mistakes
Beautiful and elegant design with modern style. Good on ya, mate.

Once again, nice work even if you screw up. Great to have a neighbour like you!

You’re very welcome, happy building!
Beautiful, your a great carpenter.
Lucky neighbor!
He's a pretty good neighbor, so it didn't hurt too much to help ;)
A sweet result, excellent work. I've been thinking about new lights on my patio.
Thanks! Get those patio lights lookin’ pretty 💪👍

Yep they are a beautiful upgrade, look great. Now all the other neighbors will be coming to you for their lighting needs...lol
Haha with times the way they are that may not be a bad thing! So long as they don’t expect IKEA prices 😉😆😆
They are awesome.
Thanks gliscoful! I’m really proud of these
Very nicely done
Thanks Rob! I’m pretty proud of these ones
You know, we could even set up a "mistake exchange" UA-cam channel. We might be the only members!!
Very nice looking lights, now that their all screwed and nailed how will you change the bulb??
Great lamps! I want to make several.
I’m confident you can Norman! I’ll be putting some very simple plans/diagrams up on my website in the next few days that should help you
Where did you learn the Japanese styles? Will you be making Shoji screens someday? That would be great, too!
Very nice, I just wish you would’ve included installing the lights. Were the lights plug in or solar? And why the big pvc, I’m assuming for electrical
Awesome work they look great, only improvement suggestion is the top seems a bit of an after thought and looks unfinished
Looks great! What would you think of making a garden lantern using cheap solar charged lights?
Hey Ken, I think it could totally work! The biggest hassle you’ll have is either requiring the light so the solar is separate and on top of the lid, or sealing the lid if you end up just recessing the light into the lantern
I'm making exactly that. Solar lightboxes.
Nice job. I really don't know how to say any better.

hwere did you get a pneumatic stapler small enough to fit inside the lantern?
It’s Oregon. There are - on average - 20,000-30,000 of those “eight legged micro tenants” in every acre.

Sooo cool. But what’s with all the rabbits.
