@@DaNerd01 I would say bunny hop :) the way he as 'normal player' sometimes loses momentum and speed while landing is maybe a second that others make better with the right movement. But he surely did amazing without knowing of bunny hop and other speed runner strats
I see where you went wrong: You thought it was a student project for SMU comp sci when it's really for SMU psych. Make a functional game, include a SLIGHTLY impossible leaderboard, and see how long players continue to struggle and retry. Brilliant!
"What do these people know that I don't know?" Run diagonally? That always used to work in FPS speedrunning. Or, if you're playing on an N64, look down.
@Some Dude looking down only made people run faster on n64 because it reduced lag in goldeneye and perfect dark by reducing processor load, and lag caused the game to count game time in a really weird way not in your favor. Shouldn't help with PC games at all.
This reminds me of how the best people ran the Titanfall 2 practice challenges. Not only do they get a perfect line, but they have tricks like detonating grenades behind them, accelerating with the concussion wave...
leaderboards should say top 100 and your place out of the total. I've spent a long time in speed based games like this and a top 10 only leaderboard isn't very good design if there are more than 50 people playing the game.
@@svampebob007 I forgot about this game and I watched a wr from over a year ago and the leaderboards were all nearly identical perfect times. The full game run is the only real way to be compete.
Whoa massive kudos to the game devs! This is a super impressive game????!? It looks lots better than many other games on steam tbh.... I know game dev is intense and I never want to crap on any game but some of them out there are like 👀. It’s so cute to see Josh actually play this right and the devs were able to see him play :)
He did choose "This is the way the game was meant to be played" instead of the This-is-the-way-you-play-like-a-wimp version. Maybe same scoreboards used for both?
The leader boards are all one hundredths of a second apart and he's like "I'm close!" and he's like twenty or thirty away. :P But optimism is good! And he made it eventually. I def couldn't have. I held my breath the whole time
That looks like a really solid, creative, and fun game... But platform jumpers and timed games give me such anxiety! I got so hivey just watching the video, lol.
Your struggle to get on the leader board mirrors my thoughts in every game that has a leader board. "How the f*ck did they cut 1.52 seconds off that run??"
Dev here. Thanks for checking the game out!
It was my honor! Thank you for making it!
Just curious, did you derive any inspiration from marble blast, it looks to have a similar feel (Just an old marble blast gold fan XD)
@Alexander Cocoles, thanks for a great game. Loved it! I am actually looking for the background score. Any help will be much appreciated. :)
@Nancy Pelosi It's also very similar to A Story About My Uncle.
Its similar to a game called seum speedrunners from hell.
Hey man! A dev here. Thanks for playing our game!
Thanks for making it! It's seriously a gem.
Go Mustangs!
How are people getting drastically better times? Any techs?
Wow
@@DaNerd01 I would say bunny hop :) the way he as 'normal player' sometimes loses momentum and speed while landing is maybe a second that others make better with the right movement. But he surely did amazing without knowing of bunny hop and other speed runner strats
Legit smiled the entire time watching the video. Thanks for playing our game!
I'm thrilled I was able to brighten your day! Thanks for checking out the video and for making the game!
Me too! And it's not even my game :D But it's definitely fun to watch.
ded
josh saying “this is how it was meant to be played, so we will play that way” is the weirdest thing
Is this the one and only time he did that? Bonkers!
Ok
Something is wrong when he do it right
He is kind to student
Thanks for checking the game out! I really enjoyed the video and your comments were really amusing :D
I'm glad you liked it! I had a great time playing FrostRunner!
Hey! Can you add a level designer!?
The things that players could add as far as custom game types and challenge maps is infinite!
This game NEEDS a level editor and share function.

Josh giggling because he got on the leaderboards is honestly a soul cleansing experience.
Your commentary is priceless!
Thanks friend! Such a fun game. :)
I see where you went wrong: You thought it was a student project for SMU comp sci when it's really for SMU psych. Make a functional game, include a SLIGHTLY impossible leaderboard, and see how long players continue to struggle and retry. Brilliant!
I can totally see that
Bonus: make it achievable on some levels to make the numbers more believable
Nice video! Glad you had fun with it!
~Shakes fist suggestively~
Thanks Andrew! Had tons of fun with it!
An incredibly decent game for a student project.
The happy voice when he got on the leaderboard was so adorable.
I actually clapped when you made it to the Leader board :D
SPOILER😂
All the dev comments are so wholesome I love it. Josh actually having so much fun makes it so much better
"What do these people know that I don't know?"
Run diagonally? That always used to work in FPS speedrunning. Or, if you're playing on an N64, look down.
Judging by the looks of the game, bunny hopping could work too.
@Some Dude looking down only made people run faster on n64 because it reduced lag in goldeneye and perfect dark by reducing processor load, and lag caused the game to count game time in a really weird way not in your favor. Shouldn't help with PC games at all.
or if you are playing any valve game just run backwards and spam strafe left right i think
This reminds me of how the best people ran the Titanfall 2 practice challenges. Not only do they get a perfect line, but they have tricks like detonating grenades behind them, accelerating with the concussion wave...
Disappointed. Was expecting you to see chewy as one of the developers at the end credits and you make a snarky remark of "So thats Y" XD
HAH
He'd say "why."
This is the first time I see him playing a game properly and I love it🤣🤣
Srsly when that moment that u got 10th place on the leader board i'm so fricking happy for you
i bet everybody watching had the same fuzzy feeling when he got into the top 10. XD
I’m not used to hearing Josh have such genuine fun playing a game without making jokes or figuring out how to break it.
When he got excited about being #6 on the leaderboard made my heart melt
It's kinda nice to look back at the days before Josh lost his entire damn mind.
This was so funny, it was so cute seeing you excited whenever you were in the leader board 😂
If you liked this game. I suggest "A story about my uncle" amazing story related game similar to this game.
hearing Josh say "this is how the game is supposed to be played so we're gonna play it that way" is so abnormal to me
unreal engine allows Bunnyhopping and strafe jumping by default, so that's probably what the guys on the leaderboards did
isn't bunnyhopping kind of an old bug that shouldn't still be happening?
What a wholesome video, and the devs commenting on it just makes it even better. Josh played beautifully here.
The game looks really polished, my school projects are usually just a combination of things I wanted to try
This game would absolutely drive me nuts. But for some reason I enjoy watching Josh play it.
I'd love to see Neon White on this channel. Its core gameplay is partially similar to this game, but a lot richer.
I definitely love watching josh wreak havoc on games but it’s so nurturing him watch him actually have fun with a game that’s super simple 😂
leaderboards should say top 100 and your place out of the total. I've spent a long time in speed based games like this and a top 10 only leaderboard isn't very good design if there are more than 50 people playing the game.
that's what a sub 10 player would say :O
@@svampebob007 I forgot about this game and I watched a wr from over a year ago and the leaderboards were all nearly identical perfect times. The full game run is the only real way to be compete.
One of the few times there was genuine enjoyment out of playing the game in it’s designed format W H O L E S O M E
This was fun! And I felt so happy everytime you made it on the leaderboard! Great video, as always!
Its nice to watch people have genuine fun in games
Runnin runnin runnin runnin.... my favorite part of any video.
Imma gonna call Boris
or Komrade Kat for help
yeah anatoli at top rank there
Where did they play it?
HOW DO WE TAG HIM TO PLAY THIS WITH ANATOLI
I'm so afraid of heights even this gives me sweaty palms
i don't think I've heard josh curse up until this video HAHAHA
Cousin Anatoli.. you made Boris proud
Wow, he actually plays the game instead of playing a simulator or tycoon and giving grace a bad time.
The only video where josh doesn't create a hellscape
This game's mechanics / play style look a lot like Portal. Really enjoyed watching you play.
What an excellent game! So inspiring to see you playing student projects. I'm really proud of you for making 6th place btw
Nice seeing you have fun playing a game the way it’s supposed to be played for once! :D
0:16 Wait a minute...
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL LET'S GAME IT OUT!?!?
This looks like a confusing dream and I love it so much.
So cute how he got excited
3:58 The fact I know who that is just makes it funnier
This kind of reminds me of The Free Ones with the whole tether things and the flying through the air. This game looks so fun.
3:59 it's a disgrace to not know Anatoli (life of boris)
Omg i cannot get enough of the commentaryy !!!
You should play "A Story About My Uncle" it has a very similar tether mechanic. Its equal parts chill and rage inducing. You'll love it.
At first, I thought it was a Spiderman knock off. This is so much better.
I really wish that this game had more content.. so much fun!
3:59 Cousin Anatoli is cousin of Boris, of Life of Boris
Man, this game is awesome, better play it!
3:59
Anatoli! Does Borris know you all ate all potatoes?
im not sure why this video was recommended to me now, but it was beautiful
Hahahahaha.
How did they shave off 6 seconds on that
He did choose "This is the way the game was meant to be played" instead of the This-is-the-way-you-play-like-a-wimp version. Maybe same scoreboards used for both?
wow anatolis been holding out on us on life of boris
The leader boards are all one hundredths of a second apart and he's like "I'm close!" and he's like twenty or thirty away. :P But optimism is good! And he made it eventually. I def couldn't have. I held my breath the whole time
Little did they know then but they were play testing the mechanics for Spiderman VR
I went to SMU. I got to play some of the guildhall games at their expo on campus.
I hope I was not the only one to know who Cousin Anatoli is
Trust me bratan, you are not.
Nice to see you playing a game as it was intended and doing pretty well. 👍
Instantly got beef with chewy
5:34 I felt like such a proud mom. Way to go Josh :)
3:59 Wait. Cousin? Like Boris Cousin Anatoli? This is what he does when he isn't raiding semechki supplies.
Check out speed runners from hell. It’s a similar game to this but longer and with more polish.
This game seems like a ton of fun, gonna check it out now
Wholesome gameplay
For a student made game that is far better than anything I could do.
"Rwom, Rwom" he says in a dead voice
This game looks like something that I would done in my dream
i was so used to josh rebelling against all rules and seeing him like this is kinda weird loll
This game looks dope af tbh
It is weird to see a game just being played and not just...the usual.
This reminds me of A Story About My Uncle. Creepy name for a game, but it's pretty good.
A mario style level designer would be awesome in this game.
That looks like a really solid, creative, and fun game... But platform jumpers and timed games give me such anxiety! I got so hivey just watching the video, lol.
Back to the old times where devs weren't scared to see Josh plays their games
I am serious jeff, you make me laugh in sad times. amazing! keep it up!
Josh: I feel im getting better
Josh: *dies*
Anthony: *sitting at home watching* COME ON JOSH QUIT DYING!!!!
For the first time, Josh didn't made a mess
This game looks fun!
Remember the Rumu lets play that Josh and Anthony never finished? If only :(
Aww how nice thank you! And Josh the others is bots RIGHT? DEV?!
To the devs: Sell this idea to Sega. Tell them this is how a 3D Sonic should have been made.
I'm sure Sonic fans would have had no problem with Sonic being turned into a first person version of Mario + bionic commando.
Maybe the leaderboard is shared between the 2 versions, and you're playing the hard one
Love everyone of your videos dude
Why are there so little comments you deserve more attention
Your struggle to get on the leader board mirrors my thoughts in every game that has a leader board. "How the f*ck did they cut 1.52 seconds off that run??"
answer: macros
Feel some type of way hearing Josh say the f word unbleeped in the olden days
Old videos when Josh cussed more lol love it
"Fine! Keep your secrets!"
this game is like the one on steam "the free ones"
"the way that the game was meant to be played, so lets do it that way"
*no.*
My hero he made it on a leader board
