My granmother told me it gave strenth to get through the hard times to see the King ride among the people like that. The germans took so much, in all ways, from us those days.
It wasn't needed back then. Even in the late sixties, when I was visiting my native Denmark (I had moved to US 1967) and was shopping at a Danish department store (Magasin Du Nord) I looked across the floor and there was Crown Princess Margrethe (she had not become queen then) also shopping, she just had a lady in waiting (hofdame) with her. A few days earlier it had been announced in the Danish press, that she was expecting her second child. I thought how uncomfortable it must be to have everyone know this, especially when she was out in public. Anyway she just went about her business and nobody bothered her. I noticed her, because she is quite tall (6 feet or close to it) and was very nicely dressed in a fur coat (it was right before Christmas) and of course I had seen many pictures of her growing up.
@bryan10011mc I suppose it does mean the end. I don't speak Danish but I do speal Dutch. The Dutch equivalent of "slut" is "slot". Meaning the end or closure. I suppose Danish is related to Dutch as it is to English.
@bryan10011mc Yes it does. It is indeed hilarious to see old Danish and for that matter English movies where they had to indicate that the movie (or motion picture) was over.
and the saying goes ... the Nazi asking people, who is that man riding ... the people says, the king ... the Nazi, who is protecting him ?? people says, WE ALL ARE.
@@DefenderOfChrist_ Hvis det er Margrethe i barnevognen må det være aug.-sept. 1940.
Tusind valg at gøre...

Men levet & sovet 5-8 mennesker i to værelser uden varme, lys og varmt vand! The King during wwII ... the Danish people loved and respected him.

@@hannejeppesen2887 the Queen still does that, even go to the supermarked standing in line, having 2 men discreetly behind her
You need no such things if the people loves you

Tak for videoen.
Synd! Der er ikke dato på filmen.
Det er Kong Christian X (10.) Den nuværende Dronning Margrethes farfar.

This is not Swedish, but Danish. It translates into "Look how clever they are to take off their hats when the King comes by".
BEHOLD MONARKIET!
(English: My right ear feels a little lonely)
So original!

ong christian of Denmark -who was drinking coffee with german officers.. in Amalienborg. he was very friendly to the germans and that is the truth !
You wanted our King killing Germans?
Decent behaviour doesn't make one a Nazi.
Eh? He was notorious for turning his back on the German soldiers.
If u dont like monarchy, fine, but no need to lie, just be honest about it.
Yes that would be my guess....

Ak ja,,,,,suk,,,,
He was inviting german nazi officers for coffee chat to the royal castle
andh es a moody guy - not the hero many think..
Any evidence if so can you link or name the sources
If he did, it was on the behaf of the goverment….. he was no lover of germans and nazis………
@bryan10011mc Hahahaha! Yes it does. I appreciate our danish language, but we do have some terms that can be misunderstood.. hahahaha
