I've seen Luke use this long enough that didn't wait for the review. I have 2, they are, as Luke says, extremely sharp! I love it, used it for over a year now and have had no issues! Thanks Luke!!

Hi Luke, love ur video. SnowPeak is not only a Japanese company, but it is also located in a city called Tsubame Sanjyo (2 cities to be precise), which is Japan's one of the most famous regions of traditional metal products. The craftsmanship of metal products from this city is excellent! Maybe thats why the knife is so sharp : )

I have the Large version of this set and it also fits into my Snow Peak IGT table as a 1-unit insert. It also has a very pleasant scent. Reminds me of the good times outdoors every time I pull it out for camping. 😊

Japanese quality is obviously apparent with this product. With all the health issues being mentioned about plastic cutting boards, this is a good choice for outdoor use. Giving this kit the recommended TLC will keep it looking like new and surely make it last longer. I have used similar products while living in Japan and East Asia and have never had any issues. Snow Peak, along with DOD Outdoors (previously reviewed by Luke), are both high quality camping gear outfitters from Japan 🇯🇵 that do not disappoint. This septuagenarian can honestly recommend this cutting board//knife set. This product is one that can definitely be passed on to your future generations for their enjoyment in their outdoor adventures!😊

Hi Luke! Thank you so much for reviewing snow peak, my daughter, while living in Japan, had told me about this, but I very much reluctant, until now, however, I discovered some items on snow peaks website can be really expensive. Thank you brother. love your channel and content. FYI, my wife and I really love the ending music of your videos. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️👊🏿

They could have molded on two small pieces of whetstone on the sides of two varying grit levels so that you can always have a sharp knife. If I had designed that I would certainly have integrated that on there. That way you can always be sure the blade is sharp.

Then the product would be more expensive. I think $50 is already pushing it as it is. You can get a nice OXO cutting board 2 pack and a Mercer culinary Deba knife (Japanese-style knife) off of Amazon for the same price, both brands of which you'd see in restaurant kitchens across the country. Of course, those items aren't camping-style equipment, but still, for that price range you're competing with actual professional culinary equipment. Plus, the smaller the whetstone, the harder it is to sharpen (same goes for stropping).

Nice review Luke, thanks. My two cents: I was concerned about the hinged area collecting food as you cut and bleeding any juice through to the table. The other thing is about the recess for the blade. While it would make it easier to remove the knife with a finger on either side, it does force you to turn the knife as you lift it, putting the blade sharp side down and away from you. But it does look like a really good product.
    Stay safe and God bless.

I have this knife set and love it. I not only use it for camping, but sometimes at home. That being said I wish the knife handle had some texture to it so it was not so slippery when it gets moisture on it from the foods. I keep a paper towel with my kit just in case it gets slippery. I treat my board about every six months or so as well. I do wish the company offered a good sharpener as well.

Seems like a good knife set to me because I trust Luke’s opinion and Snow Peaks reputation. I bought an expensive Japanese Shun Chef’s knife (over $100) a year ago, but it is overkill for me since I’m not a professional chef and to be honest would probably be better off with something like this Snow Peak knife.

I own the snow peak large version and use it daily in home and away. Listen, it comes sharp as a knife should but it is not so ridiculously sharp like my Benchmade knifes came. As with any knifes, use caution and proper cutting techniques and you will be fine. I find with daily use I have to sharpen with an ultra fine stone once a week then leather strop, but hold and edge well even when cutting through chicken bones.

Imo, the cutting board looks good, but even for car camping if I was going to take something that large might as well have a pairing knife and a utensil set or 2 inside. I didn't go to their website so maybe they offer something similar. Small ceramic sharpening rod would be nice too.

Seal where the second notch was added and you’re good to go. It would work especially for me as all I do is car camping or motel staying!!! God bless you and Susie and keep the videos coming. "Here's a review of the Snow Peak cutting board and knife set. Included in the set we have: A cutting board - and - a knife. The board is, well , a board , of the cutting variety. It is used for boarding things and, when combined with the included knife, is an excellent solution when there are no trees or level surfaces in, or around, your camping vicinity. Onto the knife - It's a knife, It's sharp and it's used for actually cutting things. Please bare in mind, like OneTigris tent stuff sacks, the board and knife are not labelled. Do not mix them up. Do not try to cut things with the board. Now, my friends, I'm off to camp in the rain." (NOTE - As a side not, I LOVE Luke's videos, so this should be taken in jest. As a knife guy I would not purchase a knife w/out knowing the specific steel being used. Many high carbon steels are cheap and have their own issues. No where can I find the steel type for this product & just because it is Japanese is meaningless in todays knife market. I have both folders and fixed blades I use specifically for camping/hiking. Yeah, you probably want a stainless but there can be a huge difference and @ that price point I would pass - Because the steel has to be cheap.
